RE: ad customiser data for expanded text ads

2022-03-30 Thread 'Google Ads API Forum Advisor' via Google Ads API and AdWords API Forum
Hi Anoop,

Thank you for raising this concern to the Google Ads API team.

Moving forward to your concern, "As Expanded text ads will sunset on June 30,
can I create new feed or update existing feed for expanded text ads?", kindly
note that after June 30, 2022, you’ll no longer be able to create or edit
expanded text ads. However, your existing expanded text ads will continue to
serve alongside responsive search ads, and you'll still see reports on their
performance going forward. That said, we strongly encourage you to transition
to responsive search ads.

You may check this document to learn more about this change to expanded text
ads.

Update Expanded Text Ads Error

2020-08-10 Thread Scott Clumpus
I'm trying to use the update_expanded_text_ads.py

 Python
script but when I try to run it for a specific ad I get an error:

GoogleAdsServerFault: [EntityNotFound.INVALID_ID @
> operations[0].operand.id; trigger:'AdId: #']
>

I've checked my googleads.yaml file and confirmed it's the correct account
that has the certain ad.
Can I get some assistance with this? I have request logs I'm willing to
share to try to get this sorted out.

Thank you,

Anthony,

Really love how you guys quickly respond - so much respect for that!

So, your answer pointed me in the right direction and I was able to find
what I was looking for since I'm using the PHP Lib.

For those of you (like me) that searched and coded for a ton of hours,
hopefully this helps you for the PHP lib:

Thanks again,

Re: Unable to see any documentation on Updating the responsive search ad and expanded text ads in Search Campaign Using Google Ad Words API

2020-07-24 Thread Dan D
Anthony,

That's great for Google AdWords API even there's even a nice example here
<https://developers.google.cn/adwords/api/docs/samples/php/basic-operations?hl=zh-cn#update-an-expanded-text-ad>

for it. But what about us who took the time and effort to move over to the
new Google Ads API. There is no google example of how to update an
Expanded Text Ad.

Every time I try, I'm getting:

Request with ID 'krnzj15jjMwJnIO8jhwQhg' has failed.

Google Ads failure details:

request_error: Field 'ad.expanded_text_ad.description' cannot be modified
by 'UPDATE' operation.

request_error: Field 'ad.expanded_text_ad.headline_part1' cannot be
modified by 'UPDATE' operation.

request_error: Field 'ad.expanded_text_ad.headline_part2' cannot be
modified by 'UPDATE' operation.

request_error: Field 'ad.final_urls' cannot be modified by 'UPDATE'
operation.

It would be great if the team could add to the Examples "Updating an
expanded text ad" any help in this direction for Google Ad API would be
appreciated.

Thanks,
Dan

Hi Peter,

Thank you very much for your answer, this helps a lot and we will find a
workaround until when those updates come out.

Hi Christoph,

Were you able to receive my reply in private, that was sent on June 21, 2019?
If you are unable to locate it in your inbox, you may refer below for the
contents of my response :

My apologies for the delay. After discussing with the rest of the team, the
AdGroupAdService can only update the AdGroupAdStatus and cannot mutate any of
the other fields. The AdService, which is the service for mutating existing
ads, is currently planned for an upcoming release as stated in this migration
guide.

However, we currently do not have information as to when it would be available.
For now, you can follow our blog for any announcements.

Expanded Text Ads - Is it possible to update Custom Parameters or Final Urls with the new Ads API V1?

2019-06-19 Thread Christoph Lanz
Hello,

I would like to be able to update the final urls and also custom parameters
of an existing expanded text ad.
In the example below, when I try just to update the ad status it works
good, but when I try to update also final urls (or custom parameters) i get
the error of "IMMUTABLE FIELD".
Is it possible to update this information with the current ADS API V1?

Many thanks in advance!

Christoph

*Example Code (fragment)*
$ad = new Ad
([
'final_urls' => [new StringValue(['value' => 'http://www.example2.com'])],
]);
$adGroupAd = new AdGroupAd
([
'resource_name' => ResourceNames::forAdGroupAd($customerId, $adGroupId,
$adId),
'status' => AdGroupAdStatus::ENABLED,
'ad' => $ad,
]);

*Example error (fragment)*
ERROR:  { "fieldName": "final_urls" } ] } }, { "errorCode": {
"requestError": "IMMUTABLE_FIELD" }

Re: Expanded Text Ads - Headline3 and Description2 bug

Hello Robert,

This is a known limitation for the previous versions of the API as these
fields are recently available in the UI as well. We recommend using the
latest version v201809 of the API for these changes to be implemented.

Expanded Text Ads - Headline3 and Description2 bug

2018-09-19 Thread Robert Rodakowski
Hi,

I think we've found a bug in AdWords API v20806 behaviour. In this version,
fields like: *Headline3 *&* Description2* are not supported. However, while
editing an Expanded Text Ad via API (it is possible to EDIT ads in this
version whitout recreating them - adID remains the same), AdWords drops
these two fields! As they are not supported by this version of API they
*should not* be changed/touched/affected in any way.

I'm aware they are supported in v201809, however it should not be like this
in v201806. It simply breaks ads...
@API team - could you please fix this?

Best regards,
Robert.

Headline Part 3 and Description 2 for Expanded Text Ads - Partial data in API

2018-08-28 Thread AdWordsApiUser
Hi Team,

HeadlinePart3 and Description2 are now available in the Google Ads
Interface for Expanded Text Ads, however, in the API we are still only
getting HeadlinePart1 and HeadlinePart2 for such ads - this is a huge
problem because there is no way in the API to differentiate ads that have 2
headlines from the ads that have 3. There is simply no indication.

Our users are already complaining, and monthly reporting cycle is upon us -
please advise - this is more of a bug than a pending feature due to partial
data being returned.

Ad type for expanded text ads containing third headline

2018-08-14 Thread Gopal Krishan Gupta
Just came across this documentation which says that Google ads is going to
allow third headline in the expanded text ads.

https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/7056544?hl=en&ref_topic=3119117

But it is not clear if it will be a new Ad type or the existing ad types
(EXPANDED_TEXT_AD) ? There no documentation available for the API users for
this feature, this sound like an important feature, we wanted to be ready
when it start to roll out in August.

Can you confirm if it is the same ad type or different ad type is going to
be used for ads containing 3rd headline ?

Different length limit for path1/path2 in Expanded Text Ads for Cyrillic (Russian) characters

2018-05-31 Thread matuznaya . inessa
Hi all,

I try to add Expanded Text Ad that contains Cyrillic characters via Adwords
API and receive AdError.LINE_TOO_WIDE for path2 field as a response. It
seems like it's because of UTF-8 uses double-byte charset to
encode Cyrillic characters. But if I try to add same ad via UI it works
fine. So, why it works via UI? and is there any way to avoid reducing
length limits for Cyrillic via API? Thanks in advance.

Re: Expanded Text Ads Illegal character in path

2017-02-02 Thread Dorian Kind
Hi Ian,

for what it's worth, we found that the following characters are not allowed
in the path fields: / \ . , : ; and any form of whitespace. Apart from
that, we didn't (yet) encounter any other illegal symbols.

Cheers,
Dorian

Re: Expanded Text Ads Illegal character in path

2017-02-01 Thread Ian P

That's not a very helpful response. The Final URL contains the model name
the vehicle mentioned in the ad. The model name contains a '.', so what is
the problem? The editorial standards make no mention of using a '.' in a
Path field.

The display URL (as it was with TextAd ) should be *example.com/Acura/1.6_El
*but it's rejected (invalid characters) and took awhile to determine that
you consider a '.' in the path invalid (which it shouldn't be!).

I cannot find a documentation of the character restrictions of the various
fields, and I find no mention of this limitation change from the TextAd
displayUR Lfield

Hi Ian,

The Path1 and Path2 fields are added to the display URL after your
website's domain which will help people get a better sense of where they'll
be taken when they click an ad. The text you put in the path fields doesn’t
necessarily have to be part of your website’s URL, but it should be related
to the content on your landing page. In your case, you can provide the
complete URL in the finalUrl
<https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/reference/v201609/AdGroupAdService.ExpandedTextAd#finalurls>
 field
and provide appropriate values for the Path1 and Path2 fields of your
Expanded Text Ads. The Expanded Text Ads should meet the editorial
requirements <https://support.google.com/adwordspolicy/answer/6021546?hl=en>

Expanded Text Ads Illegal character in path

2017-02-01 Thread Ian P
The Path(1/2) field doesn't allow the '.' but I could not find this
documented, and it's rather frustrating that you cannot use a '.' in a
path. I understand it's in part to avoid people putting ".html" but there
are valid uses, such as /Acura/1.6_El/

Can this be better documented? Even in the web version, it just says "An
illegal character" and with no explanation. What other characters, which
woul dbe valid in a path, are not allowed in that field?

AdGroupAdService unexpectedly returning null values for Expanded Text Ads

2016-11-30 Thread John Whipple
Our application is facing an new issue where when we try to get the ad
object, we receive object but the ExtendedTextAd object is coming back with
null values inside the ETA fields (headlinePart1, headlinePart2 etc.). Here
are some additional details:

   - We used "AdGroupAdService" to retrieve ads by ad id and also all ads
   list by adgroup id
   - We received object of ad but ExtendedTextAd object has null data, For
TextAd object we are getting data.
   - We started observing this issue around 28th Nov 7:10 PM PST per our
   sync log
   - How its possible that with the same call we receive data for TextAd
objects but not for ExtendedTextAd objects?

Here are some details about the AdWords account we are using to test:

Adwords account #: 380-380-4218
Campaign: QATEST-Campaign #1
Adgroup: Ad Group #1
Ad type: Extended Text Ad
Adwords Ad Id: 163604142936

Need help upgrading to expanded text ads?

2016-11-04 Thread 'Nadine Sundquist (AdWords API Team)' via AdWords API Forum

Greetings AdWords API Community!

We announced
<http://googleadsdeveloper.blogspot.com/2016/09/more-time-for-upgrading-your-standard.html>

that you have until January 31, 2017 to upgrade from standard text ads
<https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/reference/latest/AdGroupAdService.TextAd>

to expanded text ads
<https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/reference/latest/AdGroupAdService.ExpandedTextAd>.

You will no longer be able to create new standard text ads starting on
January 31st even though those ads will continue to serve. My team wants to
know how we can help, since we noticed that some people are still creating
standard text ads.

Please reply to this forum thread if you:

   -

   Have questions
   -

   Need help upgrading
   -

Want to +1 someone’s idea on how we can help

If you feel like there’s too much personal information in your question,
feel free to click on this forum post and choose Reply privately to author.

Let’s get these ads upgraded together!
Nadine, AdWords API Team

Re: Optional Path fields in Expanded Text Ads and CSV Reports

2016-10-27 Thread 'Josh Radcliff (AdWords API Team)' via AdWords API Forum
Hi Oliver,

You mentioned the following earlier:

We believe path1 and path2 used to be blank until early last week. The "
> --" is something we started seeing only last week as our parsing code broke
> for exactly this reason.

Would you mind sharing the AdGroupId

 and Id

 for
the rows where you suddenly started getting " --" instead of empty string?
I'd like to look into those particular ads.

Cheers,
Josh, AdWords API Team

Thanks for the additional details. I'm following up with the reporting team

I noticed this too - see this related thread

where I ask for more documentation on report fields.

A few thoughts:
1. We download XML, the null value is represented as "--"
2. I agree with Oliver, this null value was introduced recently for these
fields, before we got an empty value. As far as I know such a change was
not announced.
3. As Josh states, I cannot think why anyone would enter this value for
these fields, but then again, our software downloads reports managed by
others. And they do many things I cannot think of.

Hi Josh,

no, as I mentioned I don't think that's a very likely scenario, and we have
already adapted our parsing/validation logic.

I was just a bit surprised by the fact that there are two different
representations of the "Not set" value for attributes, i.e. some like
CreativeDestinationUrl returning an empty string and others like Path1
returning " --" and wondered whether that was by design.

Thanks for your feedback and best regards,

 Any thoughts on this matter?

Re: Optional Path fields in Expanded Text Ads and CSV Reports

2016-10-18 Thread Oliver
We believe path1 and path2 used to be blank until early last week. The "
--" is something we started seeing only last week as our parsing code broke
for exactly this reason.

Hi Anash,

thanks for your response. Just as an addendum, there are already fields
that are formatted as empty in CSV reports (meaning just two commas in a
row) when they are not set—"CreativeDestinationUrl" is an example. So there
seems to be a certain inconsistency.

Optional Path fields in Expanded Text Ads and CSV Reports

2016-10-17 Thread Dorian Kind
Hi,

I just noticed that with ETAs, the path1 and path2 fields are optional—you
can create an ad without either of these two fields set. This is in
contrast to the previously used text ads, where every field is required.

This has an interesting effect, as the CSV reports show unset path fields
as " --" (a space and two hyphens)—but you can also set either path field
to consist of two hyphens, which also causes the field in the report to
show a space and two hyphens.

This means that theoretically, you can't tell from a CSV report whether a
path field of an expanded text ad is really empty or has been set as "--".
Here's an actual CSV report from a test account:

Path 1,Path 2,Headline 1,Headline 2,Description
 --, --,Headline 1,Headline 2,Empty path fields.
 --, --,Headline 1,Headline 2,"Path fields set to ""--""."
Total, --, --, --, --

Now I freely admit that this is a contrived scenario, but I wonder whether
it would be possible to leave the field empty instead of using " --".

Seeing as " --" usually means "Not applicable" in the CSV reports (it's
mainly used if a metric doesn't have a meaningful aggregate in the totals
line, for example), I feel a clear distinction would be helpful.

Any thoughts on this matter?

Best regards,
Dorian

Re: Discrepancy in the length of Path1 attribute for Expanded text ads?

2016-09-08 Thread 'Shwetha Vastrad (AdWords API Team)' via AdWords API Forum
Hi Karan,

Since you are using Keyword insertion
 in your Path1 and Path2
fields to replace the default value, the actual string in the Path1 and
Path2 fields can be more than 15 characters. If the keyword is too long to
fit, the default value is used. If you try to add an Expanded Text Ad where
the default value is more than 15 characters, you'll encounter the
LINE_TOO_WIDE

 error.
This guide provides more information on Ad parameters
.

Regards,
Shwetha, AdWords API Team.

Discrepancy in the length of Path1 attribute for Expanded text ads?

2016-09-07 Thread Karan Vohra
Hi Folks,

We thought that there is limit of 15 characters on Path1 attribute for the
Expanded text Ads. But we have a few customers who have provided the data
from Google ad words where number of characters is more than 15 characters.

Can you confirm if there is a bug in Google adwords or there are more rules
in Google that we are not aware of?

The support article
- https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/7048854?hl=en seems to be
outdated then?

Thanks!

Re: Expanded text ads

2016-09-01 Thread 'Vishal Vinayak (Adwords API Team)' via AdWords API Forum
Hi,

Are you looking to update your text ads to expanded text ads? This tutorial
<https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/guides/expanded-text-ads#upgrade_tips>
 would
be of help, in that case. If not, unfortunately, all fields (except status)
in an expanded text ad are immutable and therefore cannot be updated. Your
best bet would be to update the status of the ad to DISABLED and then
create a new ad. For that purpose, you could use the AdGroupAdService.mutate
<https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/reference/v201607/AdGroupAdService#mutate>
.

Re: Expanded Text Ads- v201605 implement & test?

2016-07-26 Thread tim . wlcek
Hello Michael,

we seem to have the same problem. Our account manager informed us that
testing with live accounts is possible on the 1st July.
So we implemented support for ETA for one of out whitelisted accounts. We
received the same AdError.INVALID_AD_TYPE_FOR_WHITELIST error.
We can create Expanded Ads for the account in the AdWords interface, so I
believe the account is indeed whitelisted.

Is there indeed a separate whitelisting for API? Do you need SOAP-Request
logs?
Please advise! Thanks.
tim

Re: AdGroupAdService not returning all fields for Expanded Text Ads

2016-07-11 Thread 'Shwetha Vastrad (AdWords API Team)' via AdWords API Forum
Hi Yaakov,

Glad to hear that you got it working. Depending on the values you pass to
the selector, some fields may not be populated in the returned Ad object.
This document
 lists
all the selectable fields and the corresponding objects they populate. This
will come in handy when you are working with other API objects too.

I hope this helps.

Regards,
Shwetha, AdWords API Team.

Re: AdGroupAdService not returning all fields for Expanded Text Ads

2016-07-10 Thread Yaakov Gesher
Thanks to your persistence, I got this working now!

But the documentation is quite unclear, and the API is inconsistent: for
regular text ads, the url field is part of the Ad object, without having to
request any specific fields. The API docs do not even make that much
clear, and for expanded text ads, there is a note that don't use the
displayUrl field, but not that you need to request the url fields
specifically. This could use some attention...

Re: Expanded Text Ads- v201605 implement & test?

2016-07-06 Thread 'Michael Cloonan (AdWords API Team)' via AdWords API Forum
Hello,

This feature is currently only available in test accounts as you have
noticed.

If you have an account manager, you can reach out to them. They may be able
to get you onto the whitelist; however there are no guarantees.

Regards,
Mike, AdWords API Team

Hi Yaakov,

Expanded text ads
<https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/reference/v201605/AdGroupAdService.ExpandedTextAd>
 do
not use url, displayUrl or finalAppUrls fields. You need to use the
finalUrls
<https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/reference/v201605/AdGroupAdService.ExpandedTextAd#finalurls>
, path1
<https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/reference/v201605/AdGroupAdService.ExpandedTextAd#path1>,

and path2
<https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/reference/v201605/AdGroupAdService.ExpandedTextAd#path2>
 fields
to get the URLs associated with the Ad.

Expanded Text Ads- v201605 implement & test?

2016-07-06 Thread priya bahuguna
Hello,

I need some help understanding how I can implement and test Expanded Text
Ads against production account. I was able to test the functionality using
a test account but our custom application uses a production account and
connects to a Test MCC account for testing purposes.
To implement & test those changes within our application what would it
take? I also read that v201605 support expanded text ads for test accounts
only, then what is the purpose of whitelisting? Is whitelisting application
for creating ads through Web UI and not API?

Thanks a lot!

Regards,
Priya

AdGroupAdService not returning all fields for Expanded Text Ads

2016-07-05 Thread Yaakov Gesher
I'm trying to switch to the latest version of the API, and we have some
expanded text ads already live (added via the web interface), but when I
try to download their data, the Ad object doesn't have any url fields. Is
there some known reason for this?

Re: Adwords API: Would like to be added to the Whitelist for Expanded Text Ads

2016-06-22 Thread 'Thanet Knack Praneenararat (AdWords API Team)' via AdWords API Forum
Hello Erwin,

The expanded text ads are currently available via test accounts.
You can start implementing this feature on your test accounts first.
The feature will become available for production accounts in the coming
months.

Cheers,
Thanet, AdWords API Team

Adwords API: Would like to be added to the Whitelist for Expanded Text Ads

2016-06-21 Thread Erwin V.
We are building a tool in C# to manage our large number of Adwords
Accounts. We implemented the new Expanded TextAds type yesterday and it
seems to work fine. When testing it, we received this: [AdError.
*INVALID_AD_TYPE_FOR_WHITELIST* @ operations[0].operand.ad]

Obviously there is a whitelist. So, I was wondering if it is possible to be
part of the testing group for these new ads. I run campaigns for our
translation service in 12 different countries and just as many different
languages and might make a good testing subject. We're very enthusiastic
about the API, since it saves so much time. I'd appreciate if Google allows
us to test the new ads in our live accounts.

Kind regards
Erwin
