My mistake was using PROMs to hold the microcode decoder logic. One time
burnable. Other guys used EPROMS and some even used GALs or PALs. We all had

More of an old fashioned unstructured meet and eat.
Somebody pick a date, we go to the museum and have some food somewhere.
Maybe Forrest can put on a session about his new stuff.
If the museum has a party/meeting space that would be even better.

Kinda like the very first AnimalFarm meetings.

College engineering course, but part of the Physics dep, we had a test
to design street signal controllers. Everybody did microcontrollers
but I did it all discrete components and had a BOM 1/10th the price of
everyone else and actually simpler logic. Yeah the prof was impressed.
Ended up working with him on SCSC detectors. Too bad we didn't
finish building it...

One of my best friends from HS is the director of the Museum. Mostly in
charge of fund raising and stuff, but he is a pretty big geek himself.

So if the Half Moon Bay place does not live up the recommend I could still

Just talked to my bud. He has some options for you. He can do a private,
vip tour for you and a couple people with lunch included, Or he can do a
private vip tour for about 15 people and include possibly a conference room
for a few hours use, or you can go the full formal route and rent out part
of the venue for a bigger conference. They have rooms that can accommodate
about 25 people or so, or you can rent out part of the lower floor or the
whole upper floor. That last one includes catering and all the stuff that
goes into that kind of service. I'll send you his contact info privately.

[AFMUG] Wireless Beehive Test adapters TA-54 and TA-57

2018-07-09 Thread Wireless Administrator
I'm looking for a couple of test adapters:

TA-54 (5.4Ghz)

TA-57 (5.7Ghz)

It does not appear that Chuck still sells these. Does anyone have some
they'd be willing to sell?

I'd go to that for sure. I can't tell you the number of times I
"was going to go down there", and something else came up. Just
down the hill from here and just a couple blocks from one of our

get a meal or something sponsored. I can't make any promises, but it's

Re: [AFMUG] One day AnimalFarm in Mountain Home

2018-07-09 Thread Bill Prince
There are at least 4 or 5 Fry's in the general vicinity. Closest would
be either Palo Alto (the cowboy place), or Sunnyvale (was the circuit
board place, but now is a 1920's art deco place). The last time I was
there, it was like a ghost town. I'm kind of wondering if they will be
closing up shop soon? Maybe they're doing all their orders online...

I'd go to that for sure. I can't tell you the number of times I
"was going to go down there", and something else came up. Just
down the hill from here and just a couple blocks from one of our
NOCs.

My August sucks. Scheduled away from the office 18 days so far.

I will say that the computer history museum is very cool.

I was there on April 5th of this year with my wife, both enjoyed it.

Previously I was there as a group from an embedded systems conference. It
was really cool because it seemed like everyone had various pieces of
personal experience with each machine.

There are a lot of other cool spots in the bay area. Had a day to kill
before makerfaire, went around to all of the electronic surplus stores
(sadly fewer than there used to be), to see what cool stuff there was
floating around.

[AFMUG] Zoom Video Conferencing

2018-07-09 Thread Jason McKemie
I have a new customer that has just moved to my coverage area. I'm seeing
no issues with her connection and speed tests come out exactly the way they
should. She has been complaining about the Zoom Video Conferencing service
she uses for pampered chef not working correctly and saying something to
the effect of "connection unstable". I can find no issues at all. Does
anyone know anything about this? Ideas on what to check?

Just out of curiosity is the customer using WiFi on her surface laptop on the

Lol

My guess is poor WiFi signal to router and nothing to do with Jason’s
connection. My neighbor had a similar issue with her MLM Business and I had
her buy a powerline extended and her problem was solved
