Re: [AFMUG] OT I am invincible

2021-02-27 Thread Forrest Christian (List Account)
This is what I understand:

The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines work in a way that they don't think
will prevent you from getting an infection in your nose. It won't spread
anywhere else. As a result, if you're exposed to covid, even after being
vaccinated, they think there is likely going to be a few days where you are
contagious, but not know it since you don't have any symptoms other than
some minor sniffles. I.E. just like it is today, except it won't progress
to a bad infection.

So, for right now, they're saying to keep wearing masks even if you're
vaccinated. That way those that are not vaccinated yet will still be
protected by everyone wearing masks.

What a lot of people missed and still miss (or choose to ignore) is that
mask-wearing is to protect others, not yourself. It also prevents
overloading of the health care system. If it was the other way around -
that you could wear a mask and not get infected and there wasn't the whole
overload the hospital thing going on then there likely wouldn't have been
any mask mandates at all - it would have been more "if you want to be an
idiot and not wear a mask and run the risk of catching this and dying then
that's on you" type of attitude. But since making the choice to not wear a
mask doesn't affect you, only others, the government kinda had to mandate
these since a certain amount of people tend to be self-centered idiots.
Add to that the disinformation going around and you're where we are today.

Because of the above, I have a lot less of a problem with a mask mandate
which has an intent to force people to not do stupid things which can hurt
others than some other rules which are more oriented toward preventing
people from hurting themselves.

I really expect that come mid-year when we switch from more people wanting
the vaccine than can get it to the government pleading with people to get
vaccinated that the mask mandates will start to quickly disappear as the
vaccine provides a way for individuals to nearly perfectly protect
themselves. At that point, the only way we'll see them back is if we end
up overloading the health care system again because of people not getting
vaccinated.

He Didn't say what you said he said.   He said WE DON'T KNOW if you can
still spread and catch.  Not enough evidence collected one way or the
other.   I am no fan of Fauci, he's so tight with the drug companies
I'll be they have a probe up his tushy, but let's keep our facts
straight, if others cannot. Israel is the first ones collecting good
data that it is an actual preventative vaccine, but still need more
data.  Also the duration of the immunity is a still Huge unknown...

I had a mask made that says “I’m Vaccinated” on one side and has the image of a

I think the whole mask thing is to prevent the weirdness that would happen when
a non-masked vaccer encounters a masked non-vaccer. Until we reach a point
where we think we are knocking it out, it's best for everyone to wear a mask to
avoid the confusion. That is what I've heard from Tony.

Re: [AFMUG] OT I am invincible

2021-02-27 Thread Steve Jones
Except ol Fauci keeps saying you're not safe, you still need to wear your
two masks, you're still at risk of catching it, you're still at risk of
spreading it.
Pretty excited about J&J, looks like their single shot will be approved
forthwith. We have a syringe shortage now so that will help. Europe is
starting to say astra zenica isnt protecting people over 65, odd that it
knows ages.
My dads going ice fishing in wisconsin with his buddy in a couple weeks,
his buddy got some strings pulled to get his 2 shots out of l eftovers. He
was super concerned cause everybody packs the restaraunts in the mornings
and the evenings so hes more comfortable. He runs an hvac company though so
I dont know how he hasnt caught it, I think hvac guys must be exposed to
everything in its decayed state that they get dead virus immunizations on
everything anyway. He cut me a break on a replacement furnace motor monday,
my squirrel cage was covered in decades of grime and disease from the
house. Guaranteed there was some dead covid proteins in there from when we
all had it.

I should have kept the motor and charged people 10 bucks a pop to lick it
for immunity.

Re: [AFMUG] OT: NTCA: Why have I never heard of these people before?

2021-02-27 Thread Jan-GAMs
Looks like another "self-help" group.  they help themselves to donations
and call themselves a non-profit.  the one thing that would help a rural
community is a WISP and they don't have that topic on their website

Yes. Many rural LEC’s use NTCA for retirement/savings and 401k for
their employees. Basically a large advocacy organization, kinda like
WISPA.

Subject: [AFMUG] LNP issue - escalate to a higher power?

We ported in a customer's Verizon landline number about 10 years ago.
It went to an ATA in his house. The customer primarily uses his cell
phone and just lets the house phone go to an answering machine. He
realized at some point that his incoming calls stopped working. We
talked to VoIP Innovations and found out the number ported awayand
this started a long chain of investigation.

Long story short: We've learned that TW Cable initiated a port in
September 2019, then "released the number back to Verizon" in December
2019. So this hasn't worked for 17 months, the end user realized it
about 6 months ago, and didn't bother to report it until a few days ago.

Weird thing is he's never had TW Cable, and cable isn't even available
on his road. He says he's made inquiries and that's it. I asked if
there was ever a scenario where they mistakenly thought he could get
service and then changed their mindshe's adamant nothing like that
ever happened. He's never done more than ask about it, and they've
never told him anything other than "no".

The underlying carrier (Level 3) told VoIP INnovations that they only
keep porting paperwork for a few months, so they can't tell us who sent
an LOA or anything else. They only can see that TW Cable did the port,
and that they "released it to Verizon" later.

It's obviously way too late for a snapback, and VZ will certainly reject
a request to port in a number that's inactive. So if he really wants
that number back he'll have to order a service from Verizon.

I'm disturbed on multiple levels:

* That a number can simply be taken without anybody's authorization or
notification.

* That our LOA's can be rejected for the tiniest discrepancy, but TW
Cable can apparently port numbers at will

* That nobody knows what happened

* That there's no recourse

Is there some higher authority I can go to for answers? Neustar?

It can't be all that important if he didn't even notice for >12 months,
but I'm troubled this can even happen.
