Re: [AFMUG] Small 50lb generator run time
So we picked up the Predator and plugged in a dozen radios and CCR. It ran for 12 hours and had roughly 1/4 tank left. Super quiet, runs 12 hours. Check and check! Re: [AFMUG] Small 50lb generator run time
The runtime number sounds about right, assuming Eco Throttle enabled. I think there is diminishing returns as you reduce the load, so the 18 hour number might be optimistic. I have a 2.5 gallon extended runtime tank for my little (1000 VA) Honda and it will run for 2 days or more. It pulls fuel from the external tank via vacuum. The Hondas have an actual fuel pump, I’m not sure this trick works with all generators. Or if you use propane, you can get 20, 30, 50 lb tanks, or a kit to run from multiple tanks. My larger Honda (these are all inverter style) is 2200 VA and with the handle it is still pretty easy to carry with one hand. These are actually aimed at the camper market. Anything larger and you probably want wheels although wheels won’t roll well at some sites. Maybe more like throw it in the back of an ATV. I am getting about 18 hours on a good sized site. I live in the land of the wind blows the utility shuts off the power for a few days. I have a fleet of the chinese honda knock offs. the 25% capacity seems to be up to. I can run one unloaded for the same time. I let it charge the batteries and make a daily trip to refuel or put on a 6 gallon marine tank and not worry about it for a few days.
