There is another tool for this purpose that is a special rotary cutter that
fits in a cordless trim router. Little harder to make a nice straight cut
but super fast for removing innerduct.

Re: [AFMUG] 3.65 NN base registration

2018-03-31 Thread Mathew Howard
>From what I've seen, most people are just registering every radio for the
entire 50mhz, so it's not like you can use the information in the database
to actually coordinate anything (and I think that really is the best option
in the current climate, since there's a good chance your going to have to
change channels at some point because of newcomers to the area)... then
there are also the people that never bother to register anything, or
register a few radios and then give up because it's too much work...

I'm aware of at least four other companies in our general area that have
AP/base stations registered, but last I checked only one of them had any
customer locations registered... for some reason, a lot of people seem to
be under the Impression that you only need to register the AP (or eNB, in
LTE speak), but that's not the case and never was - everything is supposed
to be registered (there is an exception for mobile devices, but that
doesn't apply to anything a WISP would be using).

You need to register the stations, but there is no requirement to coordinate.
However, depending on how many folks are in your area it still might be a good
idea to make sure they are up to date on all their registrations. Sometimes
we find folks don’t always update their information on the FCC site and you can
still run into interference. If there are too many folks in the area, it is
easier to find open channels and then register.

The NN license never really meant anything. It tried to be a database of

Very cool. I’m going to check it out. Along those lines, we have all of our
guys use blue-tooth headsets. They either get Blue-Parrot or Seinnheiser
MB-Pros.

Very similar to the old Nextel system. You can talk one to one or one to many.

Hope this helps some of you guys out.

Lifeline is only going away for non facilities based providers. So the whole
subsidized cell phone type of thingy. I think if you have fixed wireless or
fiber you should remain eligible. But that is just my opinion. I have not
read any new rules or decisions about this. I do know that they keep mis
firing on the whole nationwide verification process. They have pushed it back
to June or July now.

I may be required to participate in the Lifeline program soon, so I'm freshly
read up on the topic. The headline illustrates the author's ignorance.

Lifeline was created in the 80's to offset the cost of phone service (offset,
not free) for lower income people. It was expanded at some point to include
cell phones (also known as "Obamaphone" in right wing media). In 2016 it was
modified again to include broadband internet.
The subsidy is $9.25/month per household. A cell phone is the only case where
you might get free service, and it will be a pre-paid plan with hard usage
limits.

If Lifeline for broadband goes away nobody is losing broadband, they just might
have to pay an extra $9.25. For us I thought it would be a huge waste of time.
If I'm in a low income household and we're allowed ONE subsidy per household,
would we use it to get a free cell phone or to get a marginal discount on fixed
Internet access? I'm betting they'll pick the free cell phone every time. I
think they should poop or get off the pot, i.e.: Make the subsidy for broadband
$30/month which will actually help poor people pay for real broadband access,
or just stop wasting everybody's time on the paperwork.
