Correct, we were in a CR7, not Cat IIIc capable. I think those things are
only rated to Cat II.

Actually, I almost had one of those a couple months ago, ceilings and fog

What I'm thinking here... don't charge the end users. Get good IP traffic
accounting and charge the upstream content providers for carrying THEIR
sourced traffic. Don't penalize the end users. ;-)

Re: [AFMUG] CMM5 vs Packetflux

2016-12-15 Thread Ron M.
I think the key on this would be making sure that the power supply utilized
has enough current supply to handle the load. Cambium says "Power
Consumption 70 W typical, 80 W peak (up to 110 W max with AUX port PoE
enabled)" so assuming 56-59VDC power supply, you would need one that could
supply up to 8 amps of current... or two at 4 amps each if I'm
understanding the PowerA/PowerB inputs. PowerInjector+Sync website
documentation only says max 1A per port, but it sounds like that may be
conservative?

Re: [AFMUG] CMM5 vs Packetflux

2016-12-15 Thread Ron M.
I like the idea/capability of using the PowerInjector+Sync to power and
sync medusa because we also have some regular 450APs and (yeah...) a few
AP100s still running... being able to daisy-chain two or three injectors
with a single sitemonitor has lots of promise... and lets me ditch the CMM4
currently being used. I'll note that we have never used the Mot/Cambium
ethernet switch anyway, so that has never been a component to the
equation... rather the not being able to do gigabit through the CMM4 has
been an issue.

I had already put together a preliminary list of PFlux stuff that we would
need to order for the towers... time to get with the business/ops manager
and start moving that direction.
