Chicago Cubs vs. Chicago Blackhawks for the bulk of their existences. Cubs were
on WGN, which reached nearly the whole country and Cubs fans everywhere.
Blackhawks were live-only and no one cared about them until they went on TV.

Two things... FIRST why is this coming across from WISPA to AFMUG and
not replyable to AFMUG. That's a Serious problem. I don't want my
responses to AFMUG going to WISPA list... ALARM ALARM ALARM!

Second this is the issue that the Reno Air Races is dealing with. If
they do live streams of the air races they worry it decreases attendance
which is where the money is. The actual reality is that live TV
sports has proven over and over again that TV presentation actually
increases the desire to attend events. Events without live
presentation or even delayed presentation show decreased attendance
because of lack of awareness of the value of attendance. Arguments
against have been disproved so many times in the sports world that it's
a sure way to get fired as a marketing VP if you try it.

Congratulations on both counts. Just had my 6th great-grandkid born two
months ago - and they are loads more fun than the kids ever were (and yes,
I tell my kids this too)...

Hi Rory,
I don't think so.. You shared or forwarded a post to AFMUG from the
WISPA group and the AFMUG _list_ forwarded it to me, I believe, as I got
other posts in the same thread to AFMUG and all of them had the AFMUG
stripped out of the reply FROM AFMUG!

Two things... FIRST why is this coming across from WISPA to AFMUG and
not replyable to AFMUG. That's a Serious problem. I don't want my
responses to AFMUG going to WISPA list...ALARM ALARM ALARM!

Second this is the issue that the Reno Air Races is dealing with. If
they do live streams of the air races they worry it decreases attendance
which is where the money is.The actual reality is that live TV
sports has proven over and over again that TV presentation actually
increases the desire to attend events. Events without live
presentation or even delayed presentation show decreased attendance
because of lack of awareness of the value of attendance. Arguments
against have been disproved so many times in the sports world that it's a sure
way to get fired as a marketing VP if you try it.

Yeah... It seems like most of the membership does. And as a

claiming the copyright to my presentation and prohibiting folks

Re: [AFMUG] [Wisp] FW: FW: This is trending on Facebook right now in WISP Talk

2017-03-15 Thread Robert Andrews

Arguments
against have been disproved so many times in the sports world that it's
a sure way to get fired as a marketing VP if you try it.

I can see that access to a recording of all events at a reasonable price

the boards attempt to appease calls from vendors for higher
participation. Maybe this isn't the best way to get there but can you
fault them for trying? The vendors pay the biggest chunk of the event.
They want people to talk to who can buy their products. They don't want
half of WISPA sitting at home streaming the event.

I think having one a year would help but they probably have good reasons
for having two.

I would also be willing to pay $100 for access to video of all

do it because I felt that the more information out there, the
better we are as an industry (yes, I still keep some
information proprietary). As a vendor, Id be furious as
most of the speakers have recommendations or experience with
specific products that they want to get out publicly.

If this is the policy going forward, I definitely wont be
speaking at any future events (Im sure many people will
probably be happy at that) unless Im getting paid (fat
chance of that, Im sure), and probably wont even be going.
There are so many other places that the same information can

that I believe this position of WISPA is simply a huge
mistake. But hey, the vendors are writing most of the checks
so Id be curious to ask what they think?

Why the heck should a member of WISPA be required to pay and ADDITIONAL
$100 to see presentations of a meeting that should be part of WISPA
membership. I hear they have record attendance. Should be record
PROFITS. Attendance at something like this is very dear time to a lot
of members at this time of year. We are just recovering from winter
this time of year with most of our signups happening now, and going to
one of these conferences isn't going to be in the cards. And I can't
watch the presentations and have to wait mucho months to even get the
card deck? BS

Yeah... It seems like most of the membership does. And as a
previous, and potentially future presenter, I have an issue with
it. Unless WISPA is going to pay me, I am not OK with them
claiming the copyright to my presentation and prohibiting folks
from recording it. I am presenting for the good of the community.
