I know one of them is a 1036-2S+. This is for our Indianapolis IX fabric , so we don't control the routers. - Mike Hammett Intelligent Computing Solutions Midwest Internet Exchange The Brothers WISP - Original Message - From: "Jason McKemie" To: af@afmug.com Sent: Monday, February 6, 2017 12:05:45 PM Subject: Re: [AFMUG] Cisco Nexus Switch / Mikrotik CCR This is one of the ICN's Nexus switches. Re: [AFMUG] Cisco Nexus Switch / Mikrotik CCR
I’ve never seen this (other than REALLY old equipment that didn’t support auto speed/duplex period). And with GigE and above, I thought auto was the only recommended method. Cisco has grown mostly via acquisitions, so much of their equipment was not originally designed by “Cisco” engineers. Not sure why people assume putting the Cisco logo on the box suddenly gives something bad Ethernet characteristics. More likely, Cisco products tend to have a lot of configurable port parameters, and the defaults may not be to everyone’s liking. I think a common one is the several second delay before entering the forwarding state, if you have STP enabled without PortFast. People view this as a problem, rather than a default setting you can easily change if it bothers you.
