DIS: RE: Infractions, Contract reforms

Happy to take a round as a coauthor for next drafts but I wasn't following earlier discussions fully... The contract reforms are at http://www.agoranomic.org/cgi-bin/mailman/private/agora-discussion/2008-November/022001.html I think probably it needs to be simplified before being enacted, though; I was trying to be 100% compatible with existing practice, but maybe that isn't necessary. The infraction stuff is at http://www.agoranomic.org/cgi-bin/mailman/private/agora-discussion/2008-September/019405.html and I think it's more or less finished, like any proto, it could probably do with improvement, though. In particular, I have no problem personally weakening equity even more than you did (there's a better way to run contests than equity, partnerships shouldn't be equity, which leaves generic private contracts as the only domain... and those have had (historically) many fewer complaints). The infraction stuff is at... Ah, that's right. I have to admit I'm not crazy about the rest terminology at all; probably because I never liked notes and would prefer something independent for the day notes go away. If you're not proposing this soon my version would probably look different though be functionally very similar. -Goethe

Actually, I take that back: I don't mind the Rest terminology, but I think the criminal system overall needs more reform than you've given it to truly work summary breaches into the system. I think all rules violations should be assumed to be reportable summary breaches, and the criminal courts only invoked when a type of breach is specifically designated as a Crime. Anyway, will work on it. -Goethe
