Problem and solution for Yahoo Extension (Tbird 3.x Beta Linux)

2009-07-09 Thread supercommod...@mail.com

I had a problem with the Yahoo extension (1.4.4) with Thunderbird
Linux Beta (3.0b2 Fedora) associating one accounts settings to another
of my Yahoo accounts in program.

It would download the wrong other Yahoo account's Inbox instead of the
right one.

So I removed the account and removed the file folder (For some reason,
Mozilla hasn't written in a routine to offer the option of deleting
the folder and email archive after you remove it from their account.)
within the .thunderbird linux (.thunderbird folder is used by Fedora,
some linux's and other OS's place it in other places.)

Then I recreated the account in Thunderbird 3.0b2 options and it still
would download the same email from the other Yahoo account after doing
it. So what I thought next going through all the file is I noticed
that Mozilla changed the structure of its mail program from 2.x.

It looks much like Firefox with cookies and many other parts of it. So
it should be further noted for the WebMail Author in the future.

So what I did next is deleted the cookies.sqlite and other cookies
file. (Which can have this type of associative, relative linking or
symbolic linking via snippets of cookies.)

Then I re-ran Thunderbird and low and behold my problem was solved. It
stopped downloading the wrong email from the wrong inbox from the
Yahoo Webmail extension.

So in case this might come up in the future, have them look into
deleted the cookies folder in thunderbird 3.x file structure.

Could someone suggest to me where I could post this solution for the
Thunderbird Beta testers or problem solvers?

when I come out of this it locks up with a 50% bar on the screen.

Can you post the steps you went through to get your UK DVB -T under 0.17

Re: [mythtv-users] Mythtv Distro Help

2005-01-20 Thread mail.com
Alex

I have the ATI remote working nicely under FC3, with my own keys remapped
as well as eliminating the multiple key presses that you get with the AIW.

I have a custom kernel module that does this, pretty easy to do if you are
happy to build
kenel modules. Let me know if you want to have a go.

You will need to have kenel sources installed
( See the FC3 release notes on how to do this)
then replace the Ati_remote.c file with my one
edit the key bindings as you see fit in this file

#make modules
#make modules install

and you are sorted.
I'll put this up on the Mythinfo WIKI when I get some time.

Kind regards

Re: [mythtv-users] [OT] New ATI drivers just released for Linux(32bit & 64bit)

2005-01-19 Thread mail.com
I can confirm that the new drivers installed well and are fully working on a
Fedora Core 3
741 kernel. Installed very easily. Did not need to use the xfree config file
it created. Just updated
my xorg.conf to support video accelleration. Have not tried tvout or HD via
the DVI.

I have a plasma panel at 852x480 via a DV connected. Noticeable speed diff
in things like
the prog guide and on screen menus.

Re: [mythtv-users] Installing MythTV from ATrpms.

2005-01-11 Thread mail.com
Clemens

I assume you are following Jarods guide. But looks like you missed a few
steps vs the guide.
http://wilsonet.com/mythtv/
This has now rolled to Fedora Core 3.
I followed this guide just this weekend on a bare metal build and had no
probs (about 4 hours work)
( i'm using dvb so this may be a change to yours)
but myth comes straight through from the ATRPM's.

You might consider not loading from local RPM's and from the web
just in case.

You should also run everything from the console rather than the browser.
Also make sure that you are root at the right places as per Jarrods guide

Re: [mythtv-users] mythfrontend crashes

2005-01-06 Thread mail.com
Dave

Not sure if this helps, but I had similar problem which was related to using
the kernel deinterlacer. By disabling the deinterlacer and using the custom
filters
entry for deinterlacing this solved all my problems. There was a bug which
caused
the deinterlacer to crash when it was not passed explicit prameters.

Have a look at the Myth install guide on how to enter custom video filters.

Re: [mythtv-users] taking too long to be allowed to read

Have you set up the channels in mythtvsetup or used zap2myth to load up the
myth database?
See below previous post

Mike Choy

Hi Clive

Sorry that you seem to be having so much problems with your myth install.
I'm not familiar with your card, as I am using a Nova-T with the new
connexant chips on FC3 and this has been working for
some weeks now. Here are some thoughts that might help.

1. The Winfast card that you have seems to be a Analogue Terrestrial card
not a DVB freeview card
I'm not sure if I have thisis right but you do say in your thread that
you are trying to ge the Freeview UK channels.
2. If you are using a DVB Card and trying to tune into UK Freeview, You have
not made it clear if you were successful
with having your card tune outside of MythTV. This is absolutley
critical cause Myth objects violently when it cant
tune, cause it buggers up the database and then its all down hill from
there.

Assuming that you are talking about DVB, here is what I found, if not I have
no experience with Analogue card so this will
not be much use for you.

So How do you tune DVB Card and load up Mythdatabase without manually
entering the channel info one at a time like
I did when I started. First I would ignore the Myth TV TV grab utilities,
cause if you cant tune your card, you are wasting a lot
of time in Myth.

1. I assume that you have all drivers installed for your card. In the Case
of the newer connexant based Nova-T cards you sadly
have to install a custom kernel and patch it with the driver patchs from
bytesex.org. Let me know if you need help here.

2. You now need some tools, I created a directory for each in /usr/src so
that I could build them.
   - DVB Apps
   - Zap2myth
   - tv_grab_dvb.

Zap2myth is here http://www.cs.man.ac.uk/~brejc8/dvb/
tv_grab_dvb is here http://www.darkskiez.co.uk/index.php?page=tv_grab_dvb
dvb apps is available from linuxtv.org -you can get from CVS with the
following commands

#cvs -d :pserver:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/cvs/linuxtv login
#carriage return to login
#cd /usr/src/dvb-apps
#cvs -d :pserver:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/cvs/linuxtv co dvb-apps
#cd dvb-apps
#make
Once this has been built you will now see a directory called utils/scan use
dvbscan example below
(Assume that you are on the CrystalPalace transmitter, other transmitters
are under the dvb-t directory)

# cd /usr/src/dvb-apps/util/scan
#./dvbscan dvb-t/uk-CrystalPalace | tee /home/mythtv/.tzap/channels.conf

If all is well then you will have a channels.conf file populated with your
freeview channel tuning info.

You can now have a look a live tv using tzap to tune into an individual
channel and pipe it into mplayer like so.

# tzap -c /home/mythtv/.tzap/channels.conf -r 'ITV 2
# mplayer - < /dev/dvb/adapter0/dvr0.

===Loading Mythtv with channel
information===

1. We build a clean channels.conf file that contains the tuned channels that
we have recepton for using dvbscan above.

2. We then use the Zap2myth script to convert this information into a mysql
script that can be loaded into the Myth Converg database

3. !!! as of Nov 04 Myth TV will hang if it can tune a channel, so any
missing fields such as the PID or wrong frequency will hang the system

4. We then load the the Mythtv database with the channel information

5. We then use the tv_grab_dvb program to load up the latest TV listings and
pipe this the Myth database

Files and what they do (assumes that I have built all of these in /usr/src )
==
~/.tzap/channels.conf ( This holds the DVB tuned channels information from
the dvbscan utility)

/usr/src/zap2myth/zap2myth/uk_dvb/common.channels contains the standard
freeview tv channels with some config information

/usr/src/zap2myth/zap2myth/uk_dvb/radio.channels contains the standard
freeview radio channels with som config information

/usr/src/zap2myth/zap2myth/uk_dvb/regions/london.channels contains the
standard freeview tv channels in london

/usr/src/zap2myth/zap2myth/uk_dvb/regions/other.channels contains the
interactive channels

# cd /usr/src/dvb-apps/util/scan

# ./dvbscan dvb-t/uk-CrystalPalace | tee ~/.tzap/channels.conf

# cd /usr/src/zap2myth/zap2myth

# ./zap2myth.pl uk_dvb/common.channels uk_dvb/other.channels >channels.sql

# mysql -p /tmp/test.xml

Have a look at /temp/test.xml, if all is well then lets load up the guide
int Mythtv for real.

#tv_grab_dvb|mythfilldatabase --no-delete --file 1 0 -

or manually

#mythfilldatabase --manual --file 1 0 /tmp/test.xml
Mythtv should now work, and you should do your first database backup like
so.

Backup your mythdatabase

#mysqldump -c -a -p mythconverg > /home/mythtv/mythsql.dump
In case you blow up your database you can restore like so.

# mysql -u mythtv -p mythconverg < /home/mythtv/mythsql.dump

[mythtv-users] Widescreen LG Plasma on DVI Modeline with Mythtv

2004-12-31 Thread mail.com

Hi Team

Just so that this is available for anyone else buying an LG RZ-42PX11 in the
UK.
These are available for under £1,500 now in the UK so I think a few people
will be buying these.

I have this working in widescreen on my mythbox at its native resolution of
852X480
via an Nvidia FX5200 via the DVI, and watching live TV through FreeView.
The picture is excellent as it has to do very little scaling, which with a
plasma is what is needed.

Here is the xorg.conf file.

Re: [mythtv-users] prebuffering pause

2004-12-31 Thread mail.com

Probably along the right line.
I had a similar performance problem that was due to
the system using software based sound
rather that the hardware based sound. Check that
your sound system is doing the right thing
by playing some music (cd etc) and watching the CPU
percentage.

I don't know if this will help, but here goes...
  I have DVB-T running on a Abit IC7-G, P4 2.4C, 512Mhz Ram, 120Gb IDE
HD - not a slow system by any means. When I added a SATA HD, the picture
started to break up (continuous errors in the DVB TS stream). The CPU usage
was at 10% so that wasn't the problem.
After a lot of prodding, I fixed it by disabling  the onboard sound (I
have an M-Audio Rev 7.1) and the onboard firewire. I don't know the exact
problem that it fixed, but it's been working fine ever since, now with 3 SATA
drives. If anyone knows, I'd like to know.

I made a change to the ati_remote.c file to give me a "one shot action" on
most of the keys that need
on one key per press. Its not perfect but is now very useable. I also made
changes to the keys that
are sent to myth so that I can have more coordination with Xine for dvd
playing.
The repeat on certain keys have bee left alone where it makes sense eg the
vol up and down.

See source here. Just replace the ati_remote.c file in your source tree
under drivers/usb/input
do a "make modules" and then make modules_install and you should be ready
to go.

* Actually, it may even support more, at least in some revisions of the

* hardware.

*

* Each remote can be configured to transmit on one channel as follows:

* - Press and hold the "hand icon" button.

* - When the red LED starts to blink, let go of the "hand icon" button.

* - When it stops blinking, input the channel code as two digits, from 01

* to 16, and press the hand icon again.

*

* The timing can be a little tricky. Try loading the module with debug=1

* to have the kernel print out messages about the remote control number

* and mask. Note: debugging prints remote numbers as zero-based hexadecimal.

*

* The driver has a "channel_mask" parameter. This bitmask specifies which

* channels will be ignored by the module. To mask out channels, just add

* all the 2^channel_number values together.

*

* For instance, set channel_mask = 2^4 = 16 (binary 1) to make
ati_remote

* ignore signals coming from remote controls transmitting on channel 4, but

* accept all other channels.

*

* Or, set channel_mask = 65533, (0xFFFD), and all channels except 1 will be

* ignored.

*

* The default is 0 (respond to all channels). Bit 0 and bits 17-32 of this

* parameter are unused.

Thank you for contacting Member Services. This is an automated response
confirming receipt of your e-mail. We would like to take this
opportunity to confirm receipt of your e-mail. We have assigned case
number 730919 to this inquiry. In the event that you need to contact us
regarding your original message, please include this case number in the
subject of your e-mail.

You should receive a response within 24 to 48 hours. In the meantime,
below you will find information that may answer your questions before
then.

Where are your messages and Address Book entries?

If your e-mail or Address Book entries appear to be missing, it is only
a temporary situation. None of your information has been lost.
Although there may be a delay in transferring all of your information to
the new system, it should be restored to your account within a few days.
If you do find that your messages or Address Book entries are missing
for more than a few days, you may contact Member Services at
[EMAIL PROTECTED] Please include the case number listed above
in the subject line of your e-mail.

Why doesn't your password work?

We have not changed your password, however, on the new system, passwords
are case sensitive, which means aBc is NOT the same as abc. Please be
sure you are entering your password exactly as you typed in when you
signed up for your account.

Why is the service so slow?

In an effort to bring you a higher level of e-mail and other services,
we are upgrading all e-mail accounts to an entirely new system.
Unfortunately, this process is very slow, as we need to move all e-mail
messages and Address Book entries for all members. We appreciate your
patience while we complete this process.

Why are we upgrading our systems?

While the existing e-mail service was more than adequate for our
existing members, we decided to upgrade to a new system in order to be
able to grow our user base while providing our existing members with the
same level of service they have come to expect from Mail.com.
Additionally, when we are
on the new system, we will be able to begin offering you additional
services never before offered as part of your e-mail account. We are
very confident that you will enjoy these services in the near future.

Why is there a delay in receiving new messages?

This is a symptom of the heavy traffic going through our mail systems
while we upgrade all accounts to the new version. This is a temporary
problem and will be resolved as soon as possible. It is a top priority.

We will respond to your inquiry within 24 to 48 hours. In the meantime,
we hope the information above was helpful and perhaps answered your
questions. Messages may be monitored for quality control purposes.

Thanks again for writing,

The difference between personal and business e-mails!

Not all e-mails are created equal!

E-mail has changed our lives both personally and professionally. It is an
efficient, easy and even fun way to make plans with friends or bounce ideas
off co-workers. While it is more informal and conversational in nature than
paper-based communication, it is important to remember that not all e-mails
should be created equally.

You use a different tone when speaking to friends than when speaking to
business associates right? Well that same courtesy and professionalism
should apply to business e-mails as well. For example, an e-mail to a
friend might read:

"hey had a gr8 time yesterday :) we'll chat soon. later, me".

While that same information when sent to a business associate might be written:

"Dear Mr. Smith:
Thank you for taking the time to meet with me yesterday. I look forward to
speaking with you in the near future.
Sincerely,
Jane Doe
Chief Financial Officer
[EMAIL PROTECTED]".

A distinct difference exists between the personal and business e-mails.

Business e-mails should be short and concise. Most people are too busy to
read lengthy e-mails searching for the point. It's also important to include
your name, title and your own e-mail address so the recipient knows who you
are and how to contact you. This information is called the signature and most
e-mail programs allow you to set a default signature to appear at the end of
each e-mail.

You probably won't be hired or fired based on your e-mail etiquette
(or e-etiquette). But keep in mind that your business e-mail communication
is a reflection of you. Use your judgement and remember to think before you
click send.

5 ways to protect yourself from catching a virus over the Internet.
1.USE PROPER SALUTATIONS AND SUBJECT HEADINGS.
A simple, "Hi, Joe!" or "Joe:" is fine when addressing co-workers or outside
clients you've met before. But use the more formal "Ms." or "Mr." salutations
when e-mailing new clients or those higher on the corporate ladder. As for
the subject box of an e-mail, think of it as the RE: (regarding) line of a memo.
Don't leave it blank, just keep it short and to the point.

	2. AVOID USING ALL CAPS.
In the world of e-mail something typed in all capital letters denotes SHOUTING
and most users consider it rude. Use caps ONLY when trying to emphasize a
point.

	3. CHECK AND RE-CHECK BEFORE SENDING AN E-MAIL.
Make sure the addresses in the "To" box are spelled correctly and are in fact
the people that you want to receive the information. It's a good idea to type
the addresses only after you've completed the rest of the e-mail to avoid any
potentially embarrassing situations. It is unprofessional to send e-mails
filled with spelling, punctuation or grammar errors. Most e-mail programs
contain built-in f

Hi Paroki,

NEWS FLASH: MAIL.COM OWNS THE WORLD!

Mail.com is now the proud owner of WORLD.com, Inc., a leading global
incubator of premier Internet domain properties. WORLD.com is
integrating Mail.com's category-defining cyber-realty into a network
of major Web properties, serving the worldwide business-to-business
and business-to-consumer marketplaces. The first properties being
developed are Asia.com and India.com.

Asia.com currently has over 160 employees focussed on business
Internet services and local content. Through wireless partnerships
with Motorola and others, it is well positioned to be a leader in the
rapidly growing wireless Internet market in Asia. India.com has a
strong management team focused on building the category leader in
Indian content and e-commerce. WORLD.com is also developing additional
key properties from Mail.com's portfolio of over 1,000 domains
including Europe.com, USA.com, Japan.com, London.com, Paris.com,
Rome.com, Doctor.com, Lawyer.com and Engineer.com. If you have a
Mail.com email address at one these premier properties, look for
further enhanced services and content as these properties are
developed.

For more information about Mail.com's exciting new venture, click on
www.world.com ( http://wwwrd.0mm.com/mai399030 ) or click below for a
Reuters review of the WORLD.com announcements as seen on CBS
Marketwatch.com.
http://wwwrd.0mm.com/mai399031

At this time, only Mail.com, the parent of WORLD, is a public company
currently traded on NASDAQ under the symbol MAIL. We do expect that
many of these properties will be public in the future, but they will
continue to be majority-controlled subsidiaries of Mail.com.

THUMBS UP FOR E-ZINES
Recently, we asked many of you what you thought about online
magazines, also called E-zines. The results of the survey were quite
interesting.

E-zines? The answer is "Yes."

The overwhelming majority of our readers (94.0%) responded that, if
available, they would subscribe to an E-zine.

What flavor?

Most of our readers, 63.9%, preferred Computer and Technology E-zines.
News (40.7%), Music (40.0%), Travel (36.6%) and Health (37.4%)
followed in popularity.

The end of conventional magazines?

Not really. While E-zines are definitely popular, the majority
surveyed (75.4 %) said they would still continue to read print
magazines in addition to online E-zines.

YOU ASKED...AND WE LISTENED!
Many of you asked us to add a spell checker to your e-mail service.
Well, we listened! Now you can check for spelling mistakes before you
ask your boss for a "raze" when you really want a "raise!" Look for
the Spell Check button on the Write Message page.

Dear Mail.com,

Is there a way to get a confirmation that e-mails I send are received
and opened?

--D.B.

Dear D.B,

Yes, but it only works some of the time. Check the "Request a Return
Receipt" box when sending an e-mail. If the recipient's e-mail program
supports this feature, you will either get a receipt automatically e-
mailed back to you, or the recipient will be given a choice about
whether or not to send you a receipt. If the recipient's e-mail
program does not support this feature, you will not get a
confirmation.

Learn how to use affect and effect. Effect can be used both
as a verb and a noun. The verb effect means to bring about
or accomplish. (Sometimes it's hard to effect change.) The
noun effect means "result." (A subtle effect.) Affect is
mostly used as a verb. It means to change or influence.

paste it right into the body of the e-mail.

WRITER'S BLOCK

Are you a literary male or female chauvinist? If so, try and make
your writing gender neutral. Don't write man and wife. Instead
use husband and wife. A salesman can be a salesperson and
firemen can be firefighters. Mailmen can be mail carriers. A
businessman can be a business executive. And a policeman a
police officer. And don't forget to change the best man for the
job to the best person for the job. Except, of course, if the job is
for a men's room attendant.

--

E-TIQUETTE

Ever get or send junk joke mail? You know, those sometimes
funny and sometimes not so funny jokes that start who knows
where, but somehow get forwarded to your mailbox-usually by a
well-intentioned friend. It's okay to pass along something you
think a friend might enjoy, but just make sure they really do
enjoy it. People who like receiving jokes in the mail will usually
let you know it by responding with a "thank you" in a return e-
mail. Those that don't probably won't respond at all. So be
sensitive. Don't joke around with your friend's feelings.

DOES THE MILLENIUM REALLY START JANUARY 1ST, 2000?
Actually, no. While 2000 is generally considered the Millennium year,
the new Millennium, according to the United States Naval Observatory

January 1, 2001. And you thought Millennium madness was almost over!

READER'S POLL: MILLENIUM MADNESS.
WANT MORE? OR WANT IT TO GO AWAY?
Because the new Millenium doesn't technically start until January 1,
2001, Millennium madness won't technically end for another year. Are
you looking forward to more Millennium Madness or have you had enough?

If you want Millenium Madness for another year, e-mail us at
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

If you've had enough Millenium Madness, e-mail us at
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

WRITER'S BLOCK
Start the Millennium off right by punctuating your dates properly when
used in text. You have two options. If you use the sequence month-day-
year, then the year is set off by commas. Example: On January 1, 2000,
the Millennium year begins. An equally correct approach is to use the
sequence day-month-year without the commas. Example: On 1 January
2000 the Millennium year begins.

EMPTY THE HOLIDAY TRASH

The holiday season means lots of e-mails from friends and
family. And lots of e-mail means your Mail.com mailbox can
fill up fast. Mail.com helps by emptying your trash on a
periodic basis. But you can empty it yourself anytime you
want to free up more space. Here's how. Simply click on "Trash"
in the navigation bar on the left side of your screen. If you
want to empty all your trash, select "Select All." Otherwise,
you just check the mail you want to get rid of. Next, select
"Delete." The trash is emptied.

WRITER'S BLOCK

Write stingy. Don't use a twenty dollar phrase, when a ten-cent
word will do. Don't write "occupational endeavor" when you just
mean "job."

E-TIQUETTE

Be specific in the subject line of your e-mail. For example,
if you want to reschedule Tuesday's meeting, don't simply write
"Information" in the subject line. A better choice would be
"Tuesday's meeting rescheduled."

THE MAIL BAG

"What I like best at Mail.com is being able to have a choice
not only in the first part of my e-mail name, but getting to
choose the part that comes after the @ also. As a teacher, I
chose @teacher.com so my students would remember my address
when they e-mail their assignments to me. And I recommend that
they use Mail.com also."
