Re: [all-audio] GoldWave Tutorials
Hey Howard. Did you mean to provide a link to a text file? I don't see one here. As for the too-large audio, you could maybe try wetransfer or something like that. Dropbox seems popular among some users. You could also use justbeamit or something like it to send the file to anyone individuall who asks for it. Basically, you upload the file and immediately send a link, and they have about ten minutes to grab it before it's gone. I don't know what the size limit is but it's fairly large I think. -Original Message- From: all-audio@groups.io On Behalf Of Howard Traxler Sent: April 6, 2024 5:45 PM To: all-audio@groups.io Subject: [all-audio] GoldWave Tutorials I have uploaded an ASCII text of a tutorial, by John "Wilson, to sendspace.com. Hello. The two programmes are not exactly equivalents. Reaper is much more difficult to use, but it's also a more versatile programme that is a fully fledged multi-track recorder, editor, and you can even use it to drive soft synths and do midi. So it al depends on what it is you want to do. Reaper is more demanding and pretty much assumes you have good audio hardware right out of the box. It works with aseo (sp) and Goldwave doesn't, but that also means, if you use a screen-reader, it's bestif it is on its own audio output in windows. Goldwave is a great programme that can do all sorts of audio processing -- one track at a time. It's not really made for music production. But it can still use vst effect plugins. I have used it for ages. Unfortunately I have had some trouble with the latest versions, first with a keyboard command glitch (I consider it a problem because even though there's a solution it's not really documented anywhere I can see), and dictation mode, which I use a fair bit, not working. Still, you can get an older version if you want. As for usability with a screen-reader, they both are, but you will certainly have to take some time to study up, read documentation and so on. It'll be more of a long haul with reaper for sure, so if you are just starting out and not going to work with music production or midi stuff, I would think goldwave would be an excellent tool. There's also audacity of course, which is kind of somewhere in between Goldwave and Reaper in terms of its' abilities. It has a weird interface that I think isn't much like most daw software, but that could actually be an advantage if you can't see the screen and haven't used any other ones. -Original Message- From: all-audio@groups.io On Behalf Of David Mehler Sent: April 5, 2024 5:20 PM To: all-audio@groups.io Subject: [all-audio] Goldwave or Reaper Accessibility, and beginner friendliness as a DAW? Re: [all-audio] Goldwave or Reaper Accessibility, and beginner friendliness as a DAW?
Not really out of date at all though -- not much has changed at all in many years, both in terms of goldwave and how audio editing works. Like I said above though I have had some annoyances with newer versions of Goldawve. Must ask one of the developers about the dictation mode business. -Original Message- From: all-audio@groups.io On Behalf Of Georgina Joyce M0EBP She / Her Sent: April 6, 2024 2:44 PM To: all-audio@groups.io Subject: Re: [all-audio] Goldwave or Reaper Accessibility, and beginner friendliness as a DAW? The lectures for both DAWS were the same to start with. These lectures were on subjects such as; What is sound and how is it generated? How does a microphone work and what are the different types of microphone? What kinds of cables are required for audio production? What is an interface and which one do I need to get started? These are basic principles that are very important and I'd suggest an essential for getting into audio as it will save lots of head scratching and unnecessary waisted purchases.
Hello, I haven't come across any Gold Wave resources. Audacity, someone set up a podcast, which I've subscribed to but haven't spent the time in getting to know it. Reaper has the reaper without peepers email list with an access to a dropbox set of directories which has many resources. I haven't accessed the dropbox archive for a few years now but I got the impression it was updated regularly. Re: [all-audio] Goldwave or Reaper Accessibility, and beginner friendliness as a DAW?
Hey. Yes, audacity is a multitrack editor. Your main work area is a project, not just a sound file, and you can work with multiple objects within the project. That is something a little closer to Reaper in theory than to Goldwave. But I don't think Audacity can handle vst instruments or has a midi sequencer or anything like that. -Original Message- From: all-audio@groups.io On Behalf Of Howard Traxler Sent: April 6, 2024 1:24 PM To: all-audio@groups.io Subject: Re: [all-audio] Goldwave or Reaper Accessibility, and beginner friendliness as a DAW?
