When using the sxw-format or the odt-format, the problem does not appear. I found this while trying the different formats (I saved one document, containing text only, using those 3 formats). Normally, this is not a problem, but if you have a large display and a large resolution (1600x1200), it may be irritating, because (requesting a page size fit) you can search for a sentence on page 11 while the counter says you are on page 10. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [sw-issues] [Issue 52677] New - Document layout not preserved after reopening or repagination (exp ort-pdf) of large documents
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=52677 Issue #:|52677 Summary:|Document layout not preserved after reopening or |repagination (export-pdf) of large documents Component:|Word processor Version:|OOo 2.0 Beta Platform:|All URL:| OS/Version:|Linux Status:|UNCONFIRMED Status whiteboard:| Keywords:| Resolution:| Issue type:|DEFECT Priority:|P3 Subcomponent:|formatting Assigned to:|mru Reported by:|waustin --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun Jul 31 07:15:38 -0700 2005 --- I tried looking this one up, but while it appears similar to some of the closed issues, I could not find an open one against the 2.0 beta - this occurs with 1.9.100-118 releases (at leat) on linux (fedora fc 2/3/4, rh9). I routinely create large documents using OOo, and a formatting exists. This problem does not seem to occur on relatively small documents. However, on large documents (250+ pages, 100+/- ole objects, 100+/- tables, some graphics, 100+ footnotes - fairly complex), after editing for appearance to get the formats to match my office's standards the page layouts are not preserved after saving/reopening, or after exporting as a pdf file (which brings the repaginating document advisory to the bottom of the screen). Typically page breaks move - almost randomly - and are not duplicatable from one instance of opening the file to the next, even if no changes are made and no document save occurs. While I cannot submit one of these (extremely proprietary and I have a new job so I have to be on good behavior and can't take a chance on bending the rules), here are the steps to recreate the problem: 1. Using writer create a large document as described above (250+ pages, 100+/- ole objects, 100+/- tables, some graphics, 100+ footnotes), making sure that some of the displays (ole objects are scatter plots of up to 12 k datapoints) are at the beginning of their respective pages. Make sure that all level 1 headings begin on an odd-numbered page. 2. Save the document (or export it as PDF). 3. (THE DOC WILL DO A 'REPAGINATION') 4. Typical changes (typically different on each reopening of doc): a) The page breaks will have shifted, sometimes between an object and its caption (a no-no for my office's standards). b) Additional blank pages will have been added which were not present before doing step 2, above. c) Some tables previously set as not to allow table to break ... will have broken anyway. d) Number of pages in document may have changed (usually more, sometimes less. Honestly I suspect the 256 MB limit on memory may play an issue (this machine has 2GB), although temp storage is not (that filesystem has many GB free space and no ulimit problem). - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. (See the series of screenshots attached to this submission for details.) The key factor is that the Create log file box is unchecked in the first window of the sequence. The flow proceeds normally until clicking the [Convert] button in the summary Window. Conversion starts, then an error window pops up with BASIC runtime error. Object variable not set. [sc-issues] [Issue 52611] Unpredictable sort range
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=52611 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun Jul 31 16:07:46 -0700 2005 --- David, You might want to clarify with an example because in 1.9.118 calc seems to select the lists to sort almost the same as Excel when you have a single cell selected. The only differences I see is calc always has the column to the left of the list by default, and excel uses the column of the cell you had selected by default and if you are on an empty cell away from a list calc assumes you are sorting the column and excel warns you there is no list. The other difference is if you select a range that is one column of a multiple column list, excel warns you and gives you an opportunity to expand the selection and calc does not. Excel does not select every row/cell automatically on sort when a single cell is selected, so what exactly did you mean by that? Both calc and excel select an entire list automatically if a cell on or next to the list is selected, so that must not be what you mean. I also fail to see why you think it is so random, when it seems so consistent for the lists of data I used. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=52611 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun Jul 31 16:31:46 -0700 2005 --- Hi, thanks for your answer. calc and excel select an entire list automatically if a cell on or next to the list is selected Ah I didn't understand this behaviour so it seemed completely random to me. I used a complex sheet in Calc so the ranges it chose didn't make sense to me. The sheets I tried in excel selected the entire sheet but I guess it was because the were one big list as you call it. So in other words if the user don't mark a range Calc (and Excel) selects what the programmer believes is what the users wants to sort based on the content and cursor position. I wasn't aware. We could close the issue changing it to Resolved - or we could change it an Enhancement - the enhancement being to make it possible to Select All - or another range AFTER the sort pop-up appears should the automatically selected range _not_ be what the user had in mind. This would save work time. Cheers -- David - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. This is very uncomfortable for testing. I like to hold the older versions till I see, that newer ones are so that I can use them as good as the older ones. On post-installing test of applications, it was discovered that Open Office has an installation problem. In each user's home directory, the .openoffice/user folder contains a symbolic link named work which points to the user's home directory. This causes an infinite loop if symbolic links are followed while tracing through directory structures. It is not known if this problem existed in the FC 3 installation -- I only discovered it while testing applications after having installed FC 4. Since I did not upgrade OO at the time, I would suspect it had been there, but I am at a loss to explain why it did not present a problem at that time. Work around: remove the file work (a symbolic link file) from the /home/ USERNAME/.openoffice/user directory. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. It searches for 1.9.100 to uninstall and won't continue until it can uninstall it. The last beta I ran was 1.9.104. I've uninstalled all previous versions and deleted any leftovers I could find. Specifically, it is looking for: openofficeorg19100.msi I have removed all traces of earlier OOo's I could find (obviously not enough). There is nothing in windows add/remove. I've removed 104 from the windows\installer directory and manually from the registry. I have been running a series of the 2.0 betas (104, 100, 79 that I remember). Whatever stuff is left on my machine, I can't install fresh, and installation doesn't provide enough imformation to clear/reset any old issues. [sw-issues] [Issue 19105] Missing Bullets on Win9x and Win Me
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=19105 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun Jul 31 19:12:52 -0700 2005 --- *sigh* I looked in the OOo_1.9.118_Win32Intel_install.zip file and the included .CAB files and only found fonts in openofficeorg3.cab. There was OpenSymbol font, the Vera Sans fonts, and the Vera Serif fonts, that was it. The file I attached shows in the XML that the StarSymbol font was automatically being used for the bullets. Either way since the StarSymbol font is not included with OOo or Windows, I don't think it should even be considered by OOo to be the default bullets font anymore. Especially because of the obvious font substitution problem here. So, OOo should use a font for the bullets that either comes with OOo or that all Windows users have. We have four options that I can see: * Use OpenSymbol as is and point to U+E01E * Use a standard Windows font (Arial, Courier New, Times New Roman) with the standard U+2022 * Use the standard (Windows) Symbol font and point to U+F0B7 * Change OpenSymbol to have U+2022 display a bullet BTW, the font used for the bullet is not the same as the font used for the text surrounding it. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
