I checked with 2.0.1 RC5 German version WIN XP: [680m1(Build8990)] and
compared with HELP of (1.9.m118) English version WIN XP: [680m118(Build8936)].

This is not a special DE-problem, in the english HELP I read:
---
Level
-
Select the level that you want to define.
User-defined indexes only support one index level.
---

In the dialogue on card Entries I see 10 levels (not only one), but until now
I did not check whether I really can use all 10 ones.

So this is an error in rc1. This can't be also confirmed by me and hasn't been
reported. I would assume that this is a faulty installation of rc1 on your
system. Please try the tool Windows Install Clean Up to remove rc1. I think I
can close this issue as 'worksforme'.

@cloph: what about removing 'locolor' from the list themes - just to check
whether the console output is really the problem ? Since locolor is KDE only it
is very unlikely to have a gtk icon cache anyway ..

After reading more about this, I think it is system issue, not apps issue. This
variable should be set on the system because every application using IBM JDK is
affected.

Is it typical on Linux/PPC to tweak every application using Java to start with
this variable?

I think the best solution would be to ask people to set this variable in
system-wide basis...

As explained by cmc at issue 62265, we should rely on the builder system to
provide java commands such as java, jar, javadoc. I will call this the cmc
model which should prevail.

Where these java commands are not available (in a pure or vanilla gcj
installation without the distribution packagers' tweaks) then the builder can
prepare some environment variables before running configure.

The current issue is a different situation. Here we have hardcoded java which
is consistent with the cmc model. But berkeleydb upstream provides a fallback to
JAVA where java is not found. There is no conflict with the cmc model if we
accept the fallback to JAVA for the gcj case. If the gcj builder has a java
then they are not affected, and we only fall back to the already configured
JAVAINTERPRETER. So I will commit maho revised patch if cmc agrees.

With the above patch, you need to download
http://mesh.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/boost/boost_1_33_1.tar.gz and put it
to boost/download/

NOTE: when compiling with boost 1.33.1, there is no need for separate spirit
-package, because the spirit (1.80) within boost is used.

The patch enables boost 1.33.1 by default for all archs except CC on Solaris.

I have tested a complete build with 1.33.1 and it both builds and runs fine.

any willing testers for others archs?

@yj: I have read part 1 and 2 and have only minor edits, these are a clear case
of gilding the lily but since I have read it - here they are. I do not think
any of this is important but perhaps it could just go on the todo list next
time the text has to be changed.

In some cases I am not certain what is intended so I ask a question, but there
is no need to answer me.

Section 1.3
last line
...share the same code basis. should read shared the same code base.

Section 1.4
First sentence: udk.openoffice.org - udk should be italics

Section 2.1
2nd paragraph
reference to Jython - should this be Python? I notice a Jython exists but is
not mentioned anywhere else...

Section 2.3.1
Installation instruction should include StarOffice.
The current version OpenOffice.org 1.1.0 is not correct
Maybe need change this part so it does not get out of date with new versions.
Perhaps something like Install the latest version of StarOffice or
OpenOffice.org would be OK?

Section 2.3.2
Remove reference to version number 1.1.0
Java version numbers may be out of date - consider a more general statement that
does not get out of date - something like get the latest Java... (but I dont
know if that is OK)

As a general comment I do not think this Guide needs to tell people how to
update their platforms, as it will always get out of date.

Section 2.3.4
point 6 - see issue 62530

Section 2.5.8
Illustration 2.4
Box titled com.sun.star.container.XNameReplace
replaceBysName should read replace Byname

Section 2.5.8

space missing from text before by:

It concerns the paragraph par_id3153257.

wrong:
Eine Veränderung im Bereich Maßstab bewirkt eine proportionale Anpassung im
Bereich Größe.
correct:
Eine Veränderung im Bereich Skalierung bewirkt eine proportionale Anpassung im
Bereich Bildgröße.

explanation: The German sentence comes from SO5.2 where the areas are called
Maßstab (now Skalierung) and Größe (now Bildgröße). In the English help
this sentence is missing. The SO5.2 help had a similar sentence for the area
Größe, but that sentence is missing now in English and in German help too.

Hi,

before I came to OOo, I used MS Office and there I had a feature in the page
settings for the page layout. That feature gave me the ability to print 2 DIN A5
pages (landscape-layout) on a DIN A4 page (portrait-layout).

As discussed at http://www.oooforum.org/forum/viewtopic.phtml?p=129709 the
feature isn't currently available in OOo and therefore I'm requested this
feature if it's possible to do so. :)

Kindly regards,
 Martin.. :D

Breton for Windows versions prior to Vista:
file to upadte: ./solenv/bin/modules/installer/globals.pm

BTW, the Breton LCID is 0x47e = 1150

When pasting text which I copied into the clipboard from the KDE konqueror
application, in writer I see a wrong text appearing.
It seems to happen only when I paste text from a HTML page.
E.g. When I have the following page displayed

HTML
  BODY
P
   Test Text 123
/P
  /BODY
/HTML

and I mark the 123 part, press CTRL-C, and paste with CTRL-V into writer,
the text which appears is t T

Interesting is: When I create a new calc document, and do CTRL-V in a cell
(without having the input cursor), also t T appears, but when I triple click
the cell so that I see the input cursor and do then CTRL-V, the correct text
123 appears!

When using an autofilter to change the number of rows shown, I expect columns
with =SUBTOTAL() formulas to automatically update.

I've attached a spreadsheet as an example. If you autofilter the Car column to
only contain Porsche then the average price doesn't change. If you make a tiny
alteration to one of the prices then the subtotal updates to reflect the correct
value.

Doesn't look like the modifying an autofilter's contents is firing off an update
event correctly.

There are two directories in the repositry where the pathname differs only in
the case of the directory name Records.
xmerge/java/org/openoffice/xmerge/converter/xml/sxc/pexcel/records
xmerge/java/org/openoffice/xmerge/converter/xml/sxc/pexcel/Records

It looks like we can physically remove
xmerge/java/org/openoffice/xmerge/converter/xml/sxc/pexcel/Records
and all its subdirectories from the repository.

The problem is that the Sun CC compiler is not compatible with the 1.33.1
version of boost. I can try to get some time on a Sun computer to see what can
be done to look at this. Otherwise, could one of the folks who have a Sun
system at home look at this patch and the boost 1.33.1 issue.

When using OOo to modify and save a file from/to an existing USB storage device,
after closing the document, if tried to umount/extract by Windows Xp the refered
USB unit, appears a system window advising that USB is still in use by any
application.

You can only complete de unmounting action when OOo quick launcher is finished.

If quick Launcher is not activated, there are not problems. Also there are not
problems if not used any document in the USB unit by OOo and tried to extract
the unit anytime.

This problem was found by me in earlier versions of OOo 2.0 project. Never in
1.1 series.

Sorry for late advertising, but best than never ;-)

Upon clicking Open icon from Standard Toolbar or from File-Open menu, I receive
an error stating The operation on path was started with an invalid
parameter. I click OK or close the error dialog and get the normal Open dialog.

The path specified is on a DVD-RAM drive, which works perfectly.

The currently open document (Writer) is also located on the same drive and same
path.

You should read that thread again.

It is possible to do n-up-printing in OOo - it was possible from the beginning
of OOo.

You have the choice between dumb n-up printing or brochure printing (then the
pages get reordered so you can just put sheet onto sheet and fold it and then
have the correct page-order in the result).

Use the print-page-preview button (not the standard-print-button) to print n-up
from page-preview.

That solution was given right at the beginning of the thread.

The problem is, that it doesn't work with the mail merge-wizard.
I'm going to describe what I want once more:

By default, I got a normal, portait-layouted DIN A4-page inside of Writer.
That DIN A4-page is *always* only half-filled with text.
Inside the text (at the beginning) is the mail merge-field which consists of
both, a form of address (i. e. Dear Miss or Dear Mister) and a name (Sophie
James or John Doe).

Because I want to reduce costs, I don't want to print page by page and when the
half number of pages is reached, turning the pages and continue the printing
proccess. Instead, I want to say to OOo OK, the printer got DIN A4-pages, print
2 pages on ONE page by printing the first page at the upper page-part and the
second page at the lower page-part - Go, do it!.
With MS Office I could do that as described above and till now I couldn't find
such a way in OOo.. :(

Im 99% sure that the gtk-update-icon-cache message is NOT related to the problem
of yast hanging up.
If it was, then it would be a massive bug in yast. (Since 1st of all it should
not hang at all and 2ndly it would hide messages printed to stderr - that would
be a huge bug by itself)

Ans although locolor might be KDE-specific, there still may applications making
use of an icon-cache (that is not Gnome or GTK-only).

And as the message from the reporter shows, there /is/ an icon-cache present. If
there would not be a cache, that directory would be skipped anyway.

Updating the icon-cache can take a while (but should not take 15 minutes)

I installed SuSE 10.0 again yesterday and now making a disk-image so I can plug
it in in future more easily.

Just remove the icon-theme.cache file from the locolor-directory and you won't
get the message.
You can take this as a test whether the gtk-update-icon-cache really is the
problem (I doubt that, but well - it is just software...)

I'd rather say it is the trigger-scripts that fail to run when called by yast.
But just skip the menu-integration package and see whether that causes yast to
hang as well.
If it doesn't hang, then there's something wrong with the menu-integration
package.

It is a loss of feature. In OOo1.1.5 the preview works fine, when you click on
the little arrow, which indicates a transition, and the preview starts with the
previous slide - as it should be - and not with a black area as the preview in
OOo2 in the normal view.

James: please read my message carefully before writing.

I am aware that Solaris CC has problems with boost 1.33.1. The patch I posted
uses the old boost and spirit for that compiler.

I was able to reproduce (need to check again whether this was just coincidence).

The problem is not th gtk-update-cache or similar, but the trigger that is meant
to avoid concurrent access to the rpm database by checking whether pgrep rpm
returns a process-id and sleeps for 2 seconds if it does.

The problem is that one defunct rpm process is sitting around, causing the
install-script to go into an endless loop.

Solution: get the process-ID of the install-script and kill it. Now the
installation can continue.
(do
ps ax|grep /tmp/install
look for a line with
number [...] /bin/sh /tmp/install.another_number
then run kill number)

I use German OOo202rc2 on WinXP.

Create a presentation with some slides.
Assign slide transations to the slides. Use different transations and different
speeds.
Now change to Slide View. Click on the slides and look to the transition area in
the task pane.
Expected behaviour: The task pane shows the actual transition, which is on the
actual marked slide.
Watched behaviour: The task pane shows the last transition, which was used in
the normal view.

I finally noticed what causes this. Here are the steps:

- Create or open a text document
- Select Tools - Outline numbering
- Select Numbering tab
- Select some outline level
- Change the paragraph style with the mouse wheel (not from keyboard)

All the other style associations, except for the selected level, disappear in
the box on the right. Changing the paragraph style works just fine from
keyboard, but not with mouse wheel.

And yes, this occurs still in OOB680_m5.

I noticed, that it is not right, that the preview button does nothing, but it
overrides the transition of the marked slide with the transition, which is shown

   Summary|2.0.2 rc1 installation|triggerscript goes to
  |problems on SuSe 9.2 KDE |endless loop because of
  |3.51 |defunct rpm process that
  | |is created when installing
  | |with yast on SuSE

tried again with same result.

when installing with yast, it for some reason creates a defunct rpm process that
leads to the loop in the trigger's install-script.

Not caused by the modifications to update the icon-cache. (happens with 2.0.1
packages as well).

Honestly I still wonder why people use yast to install rpms (it is so slow and
cumbersome to setup for non-installation media - it cannot even update the
directory itself, etc).. but anyway, here are the steps to reproduce on SuSE
10.0 (download-edition) based on a gnome-system:

#
0) copy the installation-files flat to a directory (Yast doesn't search in
subdirectories, so move the desktop-integration package to the same dir as
   the other ones)
1) Run yast from the system-menu (supply root-password)
2) In the Software category choose change installation source (not sure
about the english label, but the badly translated german one is
   Installationsquelle wechseln)
3) Choose to add a local directory from the Add button and point to the path
with the RPMs created in step 0) (note that the entry-field doesn't support
   ~ to specify the home-directory)
4) Leave the installation-Sources setup and switch to Install or Deinstall
   Software (Software installieren oder löschen)
5) Since the package-selection window doesn't allow multi-selection, search for
openoffice.org (search only in package-name, not in description) then
choose to install all packages from the current selection from the
package-window's context-menu (Alle in dieser Liste → Installieren)
6) Deselect the desktop-integraton packages (you may want to search for
   openoffice.org*menus with wildcard-match enabled)
7) Choose the button Apply from the lower right corner.

Yast will now install OOo (without the desktop-integration package which we will
install in a second step) and run some Update-scripts (useless and not needed
for OOo, but run nevertheless)

8) After the installation of the OOo packages is finished, choose to install
additional packages and verify in a terminal that you still have a clean
   environment (no defunct rpm-processes)
9) Choose to install the suse-menus package and click apply

The progress bar will reach 100% and then will stall. When checking in the
terminal, you'll notice a defunct rpm process.

10) Kill the install-script run by the trigger to allow the installation to
complete.

Since the trigger is not run, you'll have to create the symlink in /etc (and run
update-desktop-database) manually. Or better: Uninstall the menu-package and
install from commandline (where no problem occurs at all)

With a voting on [EMAIL PROTECTED]
we agreed on the Official OpenOffice.org OEM Label.

I attached as well the source as a high resolution raster graphic to the issue.

In a (hopefully) short time I'll include the files in the galleries.

Drop Caps should work for any spacing.

Try setting a paragraph with 18pt fixed spacing, with a drop capital for 2-3
lines. It appears deformed and disproportionally high. Change paragraph spacing
to 1.5 or double spacing. See?

Yes. That makes sense. EPM should be fixed.

So, the patch file that you apply now is strictly only changes that are specific
to using EPM in OOo? I.e. does not contain any bug fixes for EPM?

To sum it up. If you try to find and replace a leading single quote, it will
not find it in order to replace it. You can, however, find a single quote on
its own in a cell. We have tried a few work arounds with some having success
and others (like me) not. I tried all that was recommended in the above linked
thread.

This functionality is found to work fine in Microsofts Excel program.

I am using Ver 2.0, both one downloaned off the OOo web site and the 2.0
released from SuSe.

cmc:
thanks for your comment.
Are you sure you really want to get involved in doing
all of the micro fixes in
OOo build env, instead of just fixing the outer environment to use gij as
 java ?
e.g. using the jpackage infrastructure ?

Could you explain a bit more? adding another dependency is not
a good idea, and if you think so, gcj should install
thier interpriter as java, gcj as javac somewhere appropreate.
this should not be a OOo side problem.

and from Jpackage project, one of its goal is
To establish an efficient and robust policy for Java software installation.
IMHO this is what debian or rpm or other packages managers should
do. Personally I want to stick to original, vanilla installation
of gcj.

So # of problems (required environment variables) are not so large, so I'd like
to go ahead. They are just only minor
problems.

In fact it worked in 2.0, since the mechanim for inserting data was different
there (though flawed in some respect). I don't consider it a 2.0.2-blocker,
though, since there's a workaround. And no, after you removed the primary key,
it's not that everything will work as expected - you will not be able to
insert/update data then. Which, by the way, also holds for 2.0.
Setting keyword, targeting, assigning. Changing priority:
P2 marks severe problems which affect a significant number of customers (from
http://www.openoffice.org/scdocs/ddIssues_EnterModify.html#priority). I don't
think this holds for this issue here.
