[sw-issues] [Issue 59997] some default numbering bu llets *not* in OpenSymbol
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=59997 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Fri Apr 14 02:15:50 -0700 2006 --- In http://fontforge.sourceforge.net/fontinfo.html#TTF-Metrics it already reads: The Typographic Ascent and Typographic Descent are /supposed/ to represent the line spacing of the font on the windows platform. Sadly very few applications actually use them (most applications use the Windows Ascent/Descent described above). Yeah, and that seems to be the source of this problem. The font worked OK on windows before win asc/dsc changed, so I guess the latest attached font will have the same problems on windows again. I would prefer if we use the font with original metrics as suggested by hdu. That way we will fix the bug this issue was open for. Let solve the other problems in different issues later. Trying to solve more problems at once seems to get us nothing (so far). - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [sw-issues] [Issue 64393] New - automatic links in t he contents page
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=64393 Issue #:|64393 Summary:|automatic links in the contents page Component:|Word processor Version:|OOo 2.0 Platform:|PC URL:| OS/Version:|Windows 2000 Status:|UNCONFIRMED Status whiteboard:| Keywords:| Resolution:| Issue type:|ENHANCEMENT Priority:|P3 Subcomponent:|editing Assigned to:|mru Reported by:|jevan --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Fri Apr 14 02:17:48 -0700 2006 --- Here's a tip for users of OpenOffice, and it's also some feedback for the developers about an improvement suggestion that's a result of some further thought about this (that is mentioned afterward). Refer to attached images: oo - links in the contents page - 1.jpeg (Where to insert the bookmark) oo - links in the contents page - 2.jpeg (List of bookmarks in the navigator, also showing the contents page where they have been dragged to) oo - links in the contents page - 3.jpeg (An improvement might be to implement this functionality into the index-and-tables for table of contents, something like the 'hyperlink' button except to automatically create in-document hyperlinks in the correct spots that will work when exported into PDF form) When creating bookmarks for the table of contents, place the cursor on a blank line (thus on the left), which is located on the line before the heading. Then select Insert-Bookmark. Then bring up the navigator, find the Bookmarks category, and drag the bookmark onto a line on its own in a contents page (set a blank page aside for this by doing 'Insert-Manual Break') at the top of the document. This will result that, clicking on a contents page link, in the generated PDF file will place the cursor at an appropriate position. If instead, the contents bookmarks are created by dragging from the 'Headings' category in the navigator, then the PDF file links will not bring the cursor to the correct place in the document (it's too far to the right). Therefore, using the strategy just mentioned above (of creating bookmarks first), is the present solution for getting contents-page in-document links to work correctly (and look right) in the PDF file. An improvement suggestion for OpenOffice is, to implement the capability for links to be able to be created in contents pages (index and tables). I noticed the 'hyperlink' capability however (as far as I can tell) this does not appear to create links into the document itself, to the various headings, from the contents page. If such a feature is implemented then, it is also worthwhile to consider the points mentioned above, in particular, the need for the effective bookmark to be on the line above the heading line, so that when the PDF is generated, clicking on the link will move the cursor to an appropriate spot. If the link was not on a blank line above the heading line, for example if it was to the left of the heading text, then this is not in line with the left of the document (due to indenting of the header), so some of the leftmost text of the document would not be on screen in the PDF viewer, and the cursor position would thus not be correct. Though in fact, I've done it so it is so it works. This discussion may be of use to the developers of OpenOffice, in feedback for continual improvement of the product. Also it may be useful for users of OpenOffice, as a current method for creating a table-of-contents containing links into the document, which are in the correct 'visible' place, when exported into PDF form. Note: See also http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=62262 (someone else submitted), however this is not quite the same thing because here the discussion is about where exactly, the link will take the cursor to, when clicked on, so that it is at the correct place in the PDF (it always does go to the correct place, if clicked in OO itself). - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=64014 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Fri Apr 14 02:19:29 -0700 2006 --- I am using 2.0.2, and have never seen the question to update my chapters with the changed styles in the changed template (maybe I am doing something wrong). When I now add a new style to a chapter (or to the master document), I need to manually copy it into the template using the templates - orginize menu option. If I decide to change an existing style I too, need to copy this to the template. This could be an automatic process, if external style sheets are used. After all, this is what we do with web sites. I've attached a simplified testcase, which is able to reproduce the problem at least at my machine. Steps to reproduce: 1. Open the test case http://www.openoffice.org/nonav/issues/showattachment.cgi/35704/testcase1.html 2. start selecting from somewhere in the [STARTSECLET] (but not the very start or end of it) and end somewhere in [ENDSELECT] (again somewhere in the middle). 3. Copy the code 4. Paste the code as HTML (=default?) 5. Cut just pasted code 6. Paste as RTF 7. Go back to the testcase 8. Again copy the same selection 9. Paste the code as HTML (=default?) 10. Cut the just pasted code Behaviour: OpenOffice.org freezes Expected behaviour: OpenOffice.org should just copy the selection to the clipboard and remove the selected part from the document. Maybe Cor, or others, could verify if the testcase is able to reproduce in a similar way as the original page? - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=64404 Issue #:|64404 Summary:|MailMerge fields found warning linked to Record |select box Component:|Word processor Version:|OOo 2.0.2 Platform:|PC URL:|http://www.hawsedc.com/thomas/Restore%20OpenOffice%20 |Mail%20Merge%20warning%20box OS/Version:|Windows XP Status:|UNCONFIRMED Status whiteboard:| Keywords:| Resolution:| Issue type:|DEFECT Priority:|P3 Subcomponent:|configuration Assigned to:|mru Reported by:|hawstom --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Fri Apr 14 13:09:04 -0700 2006 --- On selecting Print when merge fields present, Writer presents a warning box Fields present. Do merge? with a checkbox Don't show warning again. If user elects not to see warning anymore, the following record selection box doesn't show. And user must edit Writer.cxu deep in the OOo registry file structure to restore. Otherwise stated from my web site: If you accidentally (or understandably or experimentally) check the Don't Show this Warning Again box when OpenOffice.org tells you before printing that there are fields in the document and do you want to do a merge, you are in trouble. Now OpenOffice.org won't show you the record selection box anymore. Here's the fix that worked for me. In my 2.0.2 for XP, here is what I had to edit: C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Application Data\OpenOffice?.org2\user\registry\data\org\openoffice\Office\Writer.xcu node oor:name=printOutput prop oor:name=AskForMerge? oor:type=xs:boolean valuefalse/value /prop /node Change false to true. Close OpenOffice? including the Quickstarter. Make sure it is closed. If you aren't sure, restart the computer. Requested action: Unlink the record seletion form from the Fields present warning. See the forums under merge box or mail merge box. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=64405 Issue #:|64405 Summary:|Hidden paragraph conditions in Labels document not |applied for last page. If I print a single page, the hidden paragraph conditions aren't applied, and if I print multiple, the last page doesn't have them applied. It seems Writer is applying the conditions upon page finish. Bad. As you know, there is general outcry about the behavior of Labels functionality. I am able to get Labels working. I have a stepthrough at the given URL. But this issue is manifest even under the best conditions I have found. If necessary, I will attach a Base file and a Writer Labels file. Guess about problem: I think Writer is applying the Hidden praragraphs conditions at the end of page instead of at the end of frame. Requested action: Make Hidden paragraphs apply on a frame-by-frame basis, or apply to last page before printing. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. This can supposedly be done with hidden sections or with hidden paragraphs. But hidden sections didn't work for me, and the field line-breaks don't come in as paragraph marks. So the only way you can hide an unused line (which should be a simple checkbox item in the Wizard) is to replace the - line break marks with hard return paragraoh marks, then use CTRL+F2 to add hidden paragraph conditions. Bug: the - marks. Requested action: Either add a checkbox to the Wizard so the Label will hide all blank lines or change the line breaks to paragraph breaks or section breaks and show a brief explanation of how to hide blank lines. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Component:|Word processor Version:|OOo 2.0.2 Platform:|PC URL:| OS/Version:|Windows XP Status:|UNCONFIRMED Status whiteboard:| Keywords:| Resolution:| Issue type:|DEFECT Priority:|P3 Subcomponent:|editing Assigned to:|mru Reported by:|hawstom --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Fri Apr 14 13:24:08 -0700 2006 --- After creating New Labels you can use CTRL+A in the first frame to select all the fields (which may not be visible since they are much longer than actual addresses) and shrink to edit. You can edit nicely and scale back up. But once you print, you can no longer select all of the first frame using CTRL+A. For me this makes the doc totally uneditable after printing. Unless user is disciplined and informed enough to save before Printing, document becomes useless to save for future use. And if accidentally saved after printing, document becomes uneditable. Requested action: Make editing commands in Label Mailmerge document behave equally before and after first Print command. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. A dumb oversight in doinst.sh you are missing: ( cd usr/bin ; rm -rf soffice ) [...] they are apparently needed in order to remove symlinks when you remove the package Again: Where can I find information about that. Slackware hides information on building packages/on what a package must/should contain and how the stuff inside the package should look like... Adding this is not a problem, but I'd like to know why... Having: usr/doc/openoffice.org_slackware_menus-2.0.2/ with readme's and licenses files are one of slackware package requirements Again: Where is this documented? (at least a license is required to be in line with GPL) OOo is not GPL. the license is mentioned in slack-desc. Isn't that enough? I also think that the content of README_SLACK that I proposed would be useful for users. It might be OK, but people should read the installation instructions and find the information there. Documentation-files tend to get outdated very quick. And having documentation usually requires translation, etc. I don' think it is worth having that file in the package. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
