I agree with watersrw -- I use this feature to save revisions of my writings each day, so the fact that it appeared not to be saving a version sometimes was quite frustrating. Besides the fact that the way it works is counterintuitive, the language on the label for the checkbox is misleading. "Always save a version on closing" means exactly that to me -- _always_. Not "always if" or "always except." The use of "always" would seem to be to clarify the ambiguity of "save a version on closing," but in this case "always" is not always, so it's just plain wrong. Note that custom background colours in WinXP are only visibile if the appeareance is set to "classic" (i.e. Win2K style). No problem up to OOo2.0.3, but starting from OOo2.0.4rc5 the buttons (and only the buttons) flicker on the screen when the dialog box is invoked. To reproduce you need to: 1. set the desktop appearance to "Windows Classic" 2. create in starBasic a macro with one commandButtons 3. change the background colour of this button 4. write the code that calls the dialog 5. call the dialog and observe the button. Note that: - this is a framework issue, although I associated it with Writer - the push button created with the form controls do not seem to flicker - buttons do not flicker in the starBasic IDE - buttons of default colours don't flicker Regards, Michele - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Using external applications for advanced statistical analysis is probably the best choice from a technical point of view. However there's no doubt that the absence of statistical tools in OpenOffice represents a serious limitation for users and, as consequence, for the adoption of OpenOffice in many work places such as labs, schools, universties. I think more factors should be considered. Using external applications requires the user to install and learn how to use them, which is usually more difficult than working with a spreadsheet. For example, doing a regression in Excel is just some click. Also, another important factor is that many applications used to manage analysis instruments in labs save data in a spreadsheet format (usually xls). So it's immediate to manipulate data in Excel or Calc, while it would require conversions to use external software. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. When I print it out some of the borders come out slightly darker than the others. This happens across the width of a page. When I export to PDF and print it's even worse. More lines are affected (not the same ones) and they're more than twice as dark and thick than they should be. Again, it happens across the page. And if I re-do the lines they still come out the same. It's as though someone inside the system is saying, "Let's annoy Neil and make the 8th, 15th, 26th and 31st lines darker. But any available macro will do. 3. View -> Toolbars: enable "Form Controls". 4. Through the "Push Button" icon, create a PushButton. 5. Right-click on button -> Control -> Events -> "Mouse button pressed" 6. Assign the macro created in step 1, then close dialogs. 7. In form controls toolbar, disable Draft mode. 8. Click on the button. The macro runs. 9. Enable Draft mode, Right-click on button -> Control -> Events -> "Mouse button pressed" and change or remove the assigned macro. Expected: 10. The assigned macro is correctly changed/removed. Actual: 10. Macro is never removed. If it is changed, so that another macro is assigned to the event, mixed behavior occurs, but I never got the expected behavior. Regression with respect to OOo 2.0.3. [sw-issues] [Issue 67134] writing in two languages a t the same time

HOWEVER: if the OS does NOT do something like this, there could be a solution for some common situations: - when the spellchecking is activated: it checks whenever a word is written, so -- implement a routine that checks if the word is written in: * cyrillic * greek * japanese (katakana/ hiragana) * chinese/ japanese (kanji) * latin (there are some special characters in french, romanian, spanish, other latin languages, german, other languages, but NOT all words have such a character -> therefore differentiating between these languages is more difficult, BUT see also the next point on "Language Lists") * (maybe some other locales) -- "Language List": let the user specify at the beginning what languages will be used in the document: e.g. russian, greek and french * that way every word written in cyrillic is russian * and every word written in latin is french * and there is NO need for complex algorithns to search what language the word belongs, like russian, serbian,... or french, spanish, romanian, ... IF the automatic spellchecking is not activated, the issue gets more complicated. [I still do not have a real solution for this.] - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. The problem here is, that the opened submenu is close to the main menu bar. If it happens that the mouse slips *ONTO* the menu bar, - the menu and submenu closes - while a new menu will open (in this case most probably the "Data" or the "Windows" menus) This way, it is even more cumbersome: you need to get back to the "Insert Menu" -> and enter the submenu. It is by no means the worst menu I encountered, in some locales, most menus are even wider. For OOo, see e.g. OOo Calc -> Format -> the various submenus there; even in the english version, the "Format menu" is very wide. If you want to do something very fast and your mouse just isn't the best one (like so often happens), you easily slip with the mouse in the wrong submenu (because the mouse has sometimes its own will). IF the menu wouldn't be so wide, the chance of that happening would be less. As explained, if there would be an option to click on the menu which opens the submenu, and automatically move/put the mouse inside that submenu, this would be great. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=70138 Issue #|70138 Summary|Microsoft Excel OLE not shown in .sxi on Unix Component|Presentation Version|OOo 2.0.3 Platform|All URL| OS/Version|Unix, X11 Status|UNCONFIRMED Status whiteboard| Keywords| Resolution| Issue type|DEFECT Priority|P3 Subcomponent|ui Assigned to|wg Reported by|aziem --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thu Oct 5 11:18:11 -0700 2006 --- A Microsoft Excel format spreadsheet is embeded as an OLE object in an Impress .sxi document. The document displays inconsistently depending on the platform. How to reproduce: 1. In Linux OpenOffice.org 1.1.5, create an .xls 2. Still in Linux OpenOffice.org 1.1.5, insert->object->ole with the .xls 3. Save as .sxi (attached) 4. Open the .sxi in Linux OpenOffice.org 2.0.4rc2: the spreadsheet is displayed as an electrical socket icon (a sort of placeholder). 5. Still in the Linux OpenOffice.org 2.0.4rc2, double click the spreadsheet: it opens up and displays correctly in Calc. 5. Open the .sxi in Windows OpenOffice.org 2.03: the spreadsheet is displayed correctly. The problem: Solaris/Linux OpenOffice.org 2 should display the OLE the same as Windows. Notes: In Linux OpenOffice.org 2, the configuration setting to convert Excel to Calc on load seems to have no effect. The practical problem behind this issue is using a Solaris machine as an automated .sxi to .odp document converter. FWIW, the issue was referred to me by someone at a major financial services company with over 100,000 employees. Also, according to this person, OOo 1.1.5 Unix will read the document, but in my case, it won't. Question: Is there a workaround so that the automated document conversion can continue? - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Revised the summary. Motivations With current implementation, a Calc function =CELL(“filename"; a cell reference) returns characters in a percent hexadecimal notation (%xx) instead of Asian native characters. Nobody can use the returned value as a text. Background As designed by the UCB. Possible Solutions The Calc function CELL(“filename”; a cell reference) could return native characters regardless of a type of scripts - Western, Asian, or others. The UCB could be enhanced to accept native non-Western characters in a path as well as current %xx notation and to return a path with native characters. References The function CELL of Excel Japanese version returns native characters that users enter and find in the Explorer. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=70135 Issue #|70135 Summary|DataPilot gives percent results in an unreasonable num |ber format Component|Spreadsheet Version|OOo 2.0.3 Platform|All URL| OS/Version|All Status|UNCONFIRMED Status whiteboard| Keywords| Resolution| Issue type|DEFECT Priority|P3 Subcomponent|ui Assigned to|spreadsheet Reported by|swubuntu --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thu Oct 5 07:22:59 -0700 2006 --- DataPilot forces the number format of its resulting data cells to the number format found in the cells of the corresponding source column. When the options of a data field are set to "Displayed value Type = % of" or "Displayed value Type = % difference from" or "Displayed value Type = % of row" or "Displayed value Type = % of column" or "Displayed value Type = % of total" the applied number format must not equal the number format of the source data. Instead, a percent format or the number format "General" has to be applied. Example: The ratio $10.00 / $200.00 € is NOT $0.05 The only valid indication of the ratio is 5% or 0.05 Note: It is no solution for the user to manually adjust the number format after creating a DataPilot, because the number format is forced to the format of the source column each time the DataPilot is updated. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [www-issues] RE: [Issue 56871] In base, Forms, TableControl does not format numbers correctly
Hi fs, I didn't move it back to bdaneedsconfirm, the system did. I have been trying to move this issue forward for some time and it always seems to have the 'unconfirmed' status when I look at it. I want to contribute to OOo but the issues handling system doesn't let me. I can't be the only volunteer that gets charred off with it, (so stops helping). Base is probably the worst application within OOo for usability and I would like to contribute to moving it forward. Anything you can do to get issues handling working would be great. In particular the ability to change the unconfirmed status when the history clearly shows that another user has replicated the problem. To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=63180 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thu Oct 5 07:18:50 -0700 2006 --- I can confirm this issue, with OpenOffice.org 2.0.3 running on Windows XP Professional. My setup is a bit simpler: One Linux box, using "rdesktop" (1.4.1) to access WinXP box over a real LAN. During a remote session, I cannot paste into OOo applications from *any* program, even other OO apps, or from Writer into itself, for example. I do not have this problem when using OOo through a VNC session on another Linux system. I suspect the problem has something to do with a program called "RDP Clip Monitor" (rdpclip.exe, from Microsoft), which allows the clipboard contents to pass between the Windows and Linux applications. If I kill that process, I can paste into Writer from other WinXP programs without a problem. Apparently "rdpclip" is started *by Windows* when an RDP client connects, so it's likely the cause no matter which method one uses (except VNC) to run a remote session. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. That function increases the stream 2byte aligned, puts a UTF-8 string in it and terminates with a '0'. If however the string length was already even (that is the terminating 0 is in an odd byte), then the last byte is allocated but not set - which does not matter in the file format since the string will be read correctly anyway or skipped by the correct offset if necessary. FYI: resources are actually platform independent already and the (sun provided) windows builds actually use res files that were built on Linux and/or Solaris. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
