To add some oil to the fire: MS Word intentionaly or unintentionaly has some
mechanism limiting its memory footprint to approx 80 Mbytes.
In case of Word 2000, when it reached the mentioned size in memory (which is
actually a hard task, but i succeded some time ago), it became VERY slow, but
did not died.

I've simply not the computer power (1800 MHz, 1 processor) do it in few hours.

Cell borders are misbehaving. A spreadsheet created with OOo v2.0 had nicely
formatted cell borders. When this file is opened in 2.0.4 extraneously cell
borders occur within merged cells.

1. Create a new Writer document, type "Test".
2. Select the first T.
3. Format -> Paragraph -> Drop Caps -> Activate "Display Drop Caps"

OOo crashes immediately, while trying to display a preview.

Confirmed with 2.1-RC2 Italian on several Linux systems, including Debian,
Kubuntu and Fedora Core 6. Not confirmed on Fedora Core 5, though. Not tested on
Windows.

In the insert menu - "Duplicate Slide" and "Picture" both have the same letter
("u") underlined for use in keyboard shortcuts. This is a problem for using the
keyboard to insert an image from a file since the "Duplicate Slide" command
opens up. I did not do anything special to view this problem - it always comes
up when OpenOffice Impress is launched.

On Ubuntu Edgy Eft installation, OO 2.0.4

There is a similar issue with OO Writer! (which has been reported)

I can confirm that copy from Writer and paste into other software causes writer
to crash.

I can add that copy from Calc and paste into Gnumeric causes the same exact
behavior.

In the case of writer, pasting into gedit does NOT cause the crash. Pasting
into tinymce (a javascript HTML editor) DOES cause the crash.

So maybe this is a Java thing, maybe it is a Gnome thing, or maybe it's a sort
of Java-Gnome thing, having to do with cutting and pasting.

So maybe this is a Java thing, maybe it is a Gnome thing, or maybe it's a sort
of Java-Gnome thing, having to do with cutting and pasting.

The bullet lists are generally not consistent with their behaviour in Word
processor.

Try these:
1) Create list, then press enter twice. In word processor, last bullet
disappeared. Why not in Impress? (You have to do Shift+Enter)
2) Variation to 1. Press Shift + Enter, then Enter. Voila, bullet.
2) Why lists have zero padding in default? Very annoying

This is usability issue. Not a bug, but big annoyance.

Working with lists in Impress is a BIG chapter. This is first issue.

Try:
1) create a list
2) now delete text of first row, leave the bullet at place
3) now try to delete first bullet. HOW? Backspace doesn't work, but should. OK,
let's press Key down and try Delete. Annoying

This is usability issue, not a bug, but very annoying drawback of OO.org

Try to create a table acting as chess board like this:
http://homepages.inf.ed.ac.uk/rbf/HIPR2/images/che1noi1.gif

Usually, you will start with creating the table, then clicking fields and
choosing background color. Why OO.org doesn't remember last chosen background
color?
Instead of doing:
1) click table field
2) click background color icon for the first time and choose color
3) click table field 2
4) click background color
etc.

You have to do:
1) click table field
2) click background color icon for the first time and choose color
3) click table field 2
4) click background color for the second time and choose color
etc.

Annoying.

See URL for original posting.

am using Writer along with Base to send out mass email notices to our alumni.
The problem is that when I get to the end of the merge process and it actually
start to send, the program pauses whenever there is an SMTP error (bad address).
I can go into the DB and remove the bad address, but then I manually have to tag
the account that did receive email so that they do not get a duplicate.

Since the nature of alumni is that about every fifth address is bad, this is a
tedious process. Is there any way to have Ooo complete the email merge and then
I can go through the errors afterwards, instead of all of this constant pausing.
(BTW, the "continue" button in the error/paused dialog is grayed out as if
taunting me).

I can confirm this same problem under Mac OS X whereby you can either use mighty
mouse or a trackpad on one of the more recent Macs to do horizontal scrolling
where it is supported. Unfortunately it would appear that horizontal scrolling
event are not picked up by ooo at this time.

Should we change the platform and os to all, as this covers more than one
platform?

I have tested this on 2.1m4 - Mac OS X intel.

Since there has been no new information recieved about this problem, and
OpenOffice.org 1.1.2 is only needed for Mac OS X 10.2, and more recent version
of Mac OS X support newer versions of ooo. Therefore this is no longer an issue.

Hi,

French 2.0.4 version of OOo with french local settings ( comma as decimal
separator).

Seems there's some problems with .csv file in Database module ( semi colon
separator, text values double quoted - but other parameters like comma separated
values and no text delimiter seems to have the same problem).

If all the column are text column, ( or consider as text with double quoted)
 is ok.

If there's a numeric column (no double quotes), even with integer value, the
text column before the numeric one will be consider as numeric, so text values
are remplace by O.

If there's a date column ( no double quotes), the text value in the column
before the date will be empty ( or null I don't know).

If all the columns (even numeric or date one's) are double quoted ... all is ok
. But if you open the csv file with calc you have to reformat numeric column
as text otherwise they will be saved again as numeric .

If the numeric column as a decimal value it seems to be ok ( regardless to
decimal separator dot or comma).

Really strange behaviour .

I will send you some little csv files as attachement

Hi Oliver,

> Setting prio to P2.

why? I mean it doesn't really matter, but a bug that prevents the successfull
build (without workaround) should be a P1. That's what

says.

And if the fix is easy even a masterfix as it completely blocks VS2005 testing
and thus might allow for more bugs to creep into the code.

But as I don't have a patch handy I can't really complain ;)

[api-issues] [Issue 72146] date conversion in macro S QL code

Sorry, I checked everything (also I changed to 2.1 RC2) and now the error is
not reproducible. I made some tests, and maybe it is a (or my) mistake in
declaration the variables. I made the experience that SQL Macro Code with a
date (DIM xxx as Date) is criticel to use when you create a query.
But when you use a date-string it´s easier. I wrote a small function to convert
a date in the standard SQL string (using the command CDateToIso) and now it´s
working fine.

function function_Date_Convert(date_basis as string)

'// this function converts a date in a usable SQL date

Dateconv=CDateToIso(date_basis)
sYear=left(Dateconv, 4)
sDay=right(Dateconv, 2)
sMonth=mid(Dateconv,5,2)
function_Date_Convert=sYear + "-" + sMonth + "-" + sDay

end function

Using this the date format is independent on the language code and it´s easier
to handle. Now it´s possible to use it like this:

sDate="01.01.2006"
sDate=function_Date_Convert(sDate)

sSQL="SELECT * FROM `table1` WHERE `Datefield` = #" + sDate + "'"
resultSet=executeQuery(sSQL)
.

So, think it´s solved now

Thank you for your cooperation

sarotti

Fixed in CWS chart2mst3.

Labels on vertical axes and value labels on any axis now are never wrapped over
multiple lines. Only horizontal text labels on horizontal axes are wrapped when
the property 'break' is set.
When the not wrapped labels do not fit into the rectangle that is given by the
user or by the automatic calculation then the labels just lap outside. But you
can still see and select the selection handles as they are placed on the user
defined rectangle - not on the resulting rectangle.

If someone likes he could test the current behaviour in the preview version
Milestone9b available for download here:

OK, so the problem is following: The documents contains footnotes that
themselves contain also footnotes. Possibly, this is due to a corruption.
WordPerfect handles the situation by ignoring the nested footnotes. So, libwpd
will do the same. The fix is in libwpd CVS and will make part of CWS fs08 that
will upload updated libwpd-0.8.8. Nevertheless, I do not see this happening
before the Xmas or even before New Year. Spare time is lacking when one is
looking for job :-(

The extended tips's text are changed since I've created the issue, so it is much
better.
But I think even the English extended tip still could be better (tested on x86
Windows OOo 2.1rc1).
Please check the extended tips and the "short" tips of the following icons:
"Add Element", "Add Atribue", "Edit Element", "Delete Element" (on tab "Instance
1") and "Add Submission", "Edit Submission", "Delete Submission" (on tab
"Submission") and Add Bindings", "Edit Binding", "Delete Bindings" (on tab
"Bindings").
As you can see, the short tips are different for each buttons, but the extendend
tips are identical for the "Add Element", "Add Attribute", "Add Submission",
"Add Bindings" and the same for the three "Delete" buttons and for the three
"Edit" buttons.

If the extended tips are switched on, the tips don't explain the difference
between the buttons, what is not a soo good for "extended" tips:
If you want to add an attribute, you have to choose the between two (or four, if
the subbmission and binding tabs' buttons are counted) same-named "Add a new
item" buttons, but only one of them will do what you want.

This problem seems to occur in Windows XP while the Linux version works OK.

The report wizard in OO 2.0.4 in Windows should disable the grouping step since
it renders the reports worthless (Grouping name is correct, but the first column
has the correct title but the data from the next column to the right. Farthest
column on the right does not contain data).

Or grouping could be fixed in Windows.

Sigh! That's what you get for making dmake continue after a break signal.

But you should have gotten something like:

Wait was interrupted foo: bar - trying to continue ...

I could rig something together that signals dmakes internal process handling
to abort (i.e. call Quit() ) when the first CTRL-c is encountered and ignore
all breaks after that or alternatively just abort everything once the 2nd break
is encountered. Any preferences?

Hi Jürgen,

I guess this works as designed, cmd.exe (and also bash and friends) treat
something like:

echo 4> foo

as a redirection of descriptor 4 to foo. It you want to get the 4 into foo
you need to separate the 4 from the >.

I do not think that this happens only for very latge avis - I tried to embed
several short mpegs and avis into a presentation. Same thing: if one starts
witha slide which contains a movie, all movies will be displayed properly. If
one starts with a text-only slide, only the first few frames of the movie flash
up, then the movie disappears.

For a workaround, I set the first slide to contain a movie, then switch to the
"real" first slide (actually slide no.2), and everything goes smooth.

ihi: The date format is being used as following (Writer): Insert > Field > Date.

After double-clicking the date field, an Edit field box appears (in Polish:
Edytuj pola: Dokument). The Format area contains preset date formats, they must
be defined somewhere in the application resources, probably just as UI string.

Hi,

I have tryed to copy tables from a Base file linked to a MS Access database to
another Base file linked to a PostgreSQL database.
That worked well (sort of) as long as there were no int columns: it seems the
definition of colums type do not work that well. The type proposed for all chars
is name and it never possible to change the length of the column. But it works:
even importing zero length colums works ! ? !

The problem occurs when importing integer colums: when not importing them it
worked fine. To import them, even though the column type was correct, it would
not work ! Till I copied the table in the same db, meaning in the same file
(MS-Access) from Currencies to Currencies2, and on that occasion creating a new
column as Primary Key as requested.
Then I could copy this new table (Currencies2) into my PostgreSQL Base file !

The MS Access DB used can be found at :
http://www.unece.org/etrades/download/files/cucod_r0410.mdb

Platform: Windows 2000 Prof, Intel x86; OOo 2.1rc1 (English)
Also tested on : Intel x86, UHU-Linux + OOo 2.0.2 (Hungarian)
(So I've left the Platform and OS fields of the issue on "All".)

Test case:
1. Open the file accent-test1.odt in edit mode.
On the right side the Data Navigator appears (if not, use the Data Navigator
button on the Form Design toolbar).
2. Click the "+" sign on instanceData (in Data Navigator)
3. Click the "+" sign on the accenttest element. (you have to see that the
default value of accenttest element: xxáxxéxxőxxűxx)
(there are double x-es for separators and the following utf-8 letters: á (C3
A1), é (C3 A9), ő (C5 91), ű (C5 B1) )
4. Right-click on element "accenttest", and select Edit Element.
(The Edit Element dialogbox appears)
5. Be careful: the "Default value" field is empty now, so if you clicked OK, the
test case would disappear (see issues 60494 and 61995). So do not press OK. :-)
6. Check the "Required" checkbox, and click on "Condition" button. The "Add
Condition" window appears.
7. In the "Condition" field erase the "true()" and write "/instanceData" or "/"
(without the quotation marks). A moment later "Results" panel will show this:
xx&#E1;xx&#E9;xx—xx«xx instead of
xxáxxéxxőxxűxx (I hope the browser will not mess the
accented letters between the xx-s.)

New enhancement request: Maybe it would be useful if I could copy the content of
the "Result" field to clipboard. :-)

Under v2.04 I still experience, but now it's (sometimes) less critical, because
(usually) if I close the document, where it happened, the find dialog is also
closed.

Hi Chris,

Please understand that for legal reasons every contribution to OOo must be
covered by the JCA, no matter under which license it may have been submitted to
a different place. As with a submission through the IT46 locale data generator
you granted the right to Alberto Escudero-Pascual to contribute the work to OOo
(see http://www.it46.se/localegen/copyright.php ), there are two ways to solve
this: either Alberto contributes the data to OOo, he did already sign the JCA,
or you as the submitter sign the JCA. If you plan to contribute additional work
to OOo I suggest you sign the JCA; if the locale data files will be the only
contribution the easier way would be to ask Alberto to contribute them.

Thanks
  Eike

hello kpalagin,
I just updateted to OOo 2.0.4 and I can't produce the bug anymore.

I've attached a simple odt-file and the icon that I linked to in the
imagebutton's properties.
With this document I can produce the bug in OOo 2.0 with WinXP and OOo 2.0.2
with Suse-Linux 10.0 and KDE 3.4.

Put these files in the same directory
Start form "test_imagebutton.odt"
Link "1leftarrow.png" to the imagebutton in "test_imagebutton.odt" using the
properties-dialog (the button will provide the icon's look in the form)
Close properties-dialog
Put the focus on the other object in the form
Select the imagebutton and OOo crashes

The bug will appear unless you create the form by Ctrl-N or by "New"-icon the
menubar.

I hope I could provide the information you need. If there are further questions,
please ask but as I wrote it on top: In OOo 2.0.4. with Suse 10.0 the bug
doesn't appear anymore.
Greetings from Germany and thank you to all people creating this great software!

tilmatz

strings.
