In the attached screenshots, there are two lines of text. The first line has text with LTR text direction, and the cursor is clearly to the right of the period. The second line has the same text with RTL text direction, and the cursor completely covers the period. This has led to some confusion about whether the cursor position is really before the period or after. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. The Posted file can be now saved to ods properly. But still there is problem with saving to xls. Calc saves the file to xls with wrong settings for groups: Open the attached file with OO and Save it to xls. Open again with excel (I used 2003) and you will see it has different setting as original . To correct it go - datagroup and structuresettings, then uncheck «totals in rows under date» (I translated it form rusian, but original phrases can be different. ) And file is OK. So editing xls file with OO drops proper settings. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. As workaround, ( it works for greek), ALT + Shift can replace dead key (instead of the one you mentionned) for diacritics compositing. For example ά , but it should be the same for other. [sw-issues] [Issue 16505] Vertical text direction in Writer table
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=16505 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun Jan 7 06:09:27 -0800 2007 --- I think this method of changing text direction needs mentioning in the Help files more. I was looking for vertical text direction and downloaded OO 2.1 because I thought 1.1 had no support for it. Then 2.1 for some reason has the button Vertical Text on the Drawing toolbar, but trying to make it a Visible Button has absolutely no effect, until you figure out that you need to enable Asian language support. Then you have to figure out how to do that. I am not sure what the value of restricting vertical text direction in this way to Asian language users only is. Finally I find the answer in IssueZilla and I didn't even need OO 2.1 after all!! - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. If saved in Excel 2003 with the cursor left on cell A2, then opened in OpenOffice Calc 2.0.4, row 1 is invisible. If I hit an up-arrow, I can get all of row 1 showing above the A...B...C...D column headers. If I then hit the right arrow twice, I end up with a mix of row 1 with column headers above and below. The end result is unusable for doing any useful work on the spreadsheet. I have screen shots of all three screens: http://ian.waring.googlepages.com/OpenOfficeFirstOpen.png http://ian.waring.googlepages.com/OpenOfficeUpArrowtoA1.png http://ian.waring.googlepages.com/OpenOfficeArrow2RighttoC1.png Any ideas if there is a fix in place? It's a pretty bad usability bug. I searched Help and didn't find the answer to how to remove the hyperlink (I searched URL). There's mention of the Hyperlink dialog and how to modify its properties, but not removing it. The current method is extremely non-intuitive, and I only found it through this thread. I second what has been said about a simple Remove button and option in the Contextual menu, the first places you look. When you have a Hyperlink dialog, you naturally assume everything you need to add AND remove links are there. A simple button can't be that hard to implement, surely. Nor an option in a Contextual menu. Even with stretched resources. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. I mean, this issue was reported February 2004 with OO 1.1, and now its 2007 and there is OO 2.1 ... or is it really _that_ hard to fix ? M8hpw, I tested your macro, however with OO 2.1 it doesn't work correctly as the image is scaled somehow which e.g. results in additional line breaks in text boxes.
