when doing some annotations for a inserted picture for the first time,
everything goes well;
but when I decided to change the annotation of the picture, and did a RMB-click
on the picture - annotation,
then in annotation-text NOTHING is filled in, although there IS already a text;
now, when I put in my new, changed annotation text, OOo puts it additionally to
my first/previous text;
i guess, this is not intended

Not only the language pack window title is non-localizable, even in the full
localized package Windows installation in the second phase (after first phase
unpacks files) the title of the window is not localized.
I agree that OOo name should remain as it is, but the string Installation
Wizard should be localizable!
I am attaching the screenshot.
Again, this is not language pack, but localized full package!

Thanks fme for your response.

According to the posting on GullFOSS the new table model is to support rowspans,
and if you look at
http://eis.services.openoffice.org/EIS2/cws.ShowCWS?Id=4460Path=SRC680%2Fswnewtable
it is to be fixed in 2.3.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but if this is the case why hasn't this issue
been marked for the 2.3 release?

@Daniel: please update the page with dictionaries and the dictionaries on the
ftp sites - the files now have a different license, so v2 from this issue are
the definite new version.

@Robert: what date should we set as the issue date of the LGPL/GPL version of
the dictionaries- the date you attached the final version to this issue or the
date that authors of the files allowed it to be distributed under LGPL? What was
that date?

Martin: as I wrote above for forms in external:
Date of First Use / date of License: 1990/October 2006
for spell
and
Date of First Use / date of License: NA/October 2006
for hyph.
I took the date for the first use from previous data and the date of licence
October 2006, since this is the date when dicts's license was changed to
GPL+LGPL.
If this is OK.

A PowerPoint presentation was opened in OpenOffice.org 2.1 Professional (from
ru.openoffice.org). An export to pdf was used to produce the pdf document. As a
result the OpenOffice.org application hung everytime.

Document can be found here:
www.hot.ee/de1m/sem3.ppt

The same bug was tested in
OpenOffice.org 1.1.3 (Debian 3.1),
OpenOffice.org 2.0.3 Professional (from ru.openoffice.org).
In both cases conversion to pdf worked properly.

It was noticed that export to pdf is not working with .odp document produced
from above desribed .ppt document.

Submission deadline for 2.2 is already over, but these errors are only in
helpcontent2, which is untranslated so far anyway. I believe there won't be
any visible errors in UI. However, all errors are fixed for the community
builds available at

Recently I received a .doc file which contains markups (de: Notizen) and has
been created w/ word (version unknown)
I hit the navigator and all markups where shown there.
But no yellow elements were displayed throughout the text, so markups where
virtually invisiable.

I added anohter markup in Writer in this .doc and it was perfectly shown.
I made a pdf with the same result. the word-created markups where not shown,
only my writer created markup appeared.

it seems like a bug to mee.

I attached both files for examination.

The configure script in OpenOffice.org uses hardcoded library paths for sndfile
library.

sndfile support pkg-config, this patch updates sndfile to use it.

It does seem strange that OpenOffice would have (or could have) damaged an
entire directory. I suppose it is possible that the file system could have
been corrupt already when OpenOffice ran, but still, I was quite sure I
remembered it being fine right before running OpenOffice.

1 Define a Class Module in a library of a document.
2 In a routine outside this library, load the library and declare a variable as
an
instance of the Class Module.
3 If the routine is run before the library is loaded, the instruction declaring
the
variable will raise an error, or worse OpenOffice will crash.
If the library is loaded before the routine is run, no problem.

Next attachment is a document as a proof.

There are some serious problems with the Linux builds as well as with the
Windows builds. They seem to be related to this issue.

We tested:
http://ooo.services.openoffice.org/pub/OpenOffice.org/cws/upload/localization/localisation19/linux/OOo_2.2.0_070123_LinuxIntel_install_ku.tar.gz
(with alien on Ubuntu 6.10)
and
http://ftp.linux.cz/pub/localization/OpenOffice.org/devel/680/OOF680_m3/Build-1/OOo_2.2.0_070126_Win32Intel_install_ku.exe
on Windows XP.

The Linux build does still not use our submitted GSI file, but some older file.
The tracker for this is the translation of the word edit in the main menu bar.
It is serrrast kirin in the build, but this has been corrected for a long time
now.

In the Windows build, however, this word an many other words appear completely
untranslated which is quite surprising. We had no such problems before in any
Windows build. You can easily see that even in the main menus lots of English
words appear.

I think you use a very old version of the Java runtime environment

It's better to use a version 1.4.1

[sw-issues] [Issue 55988] Changing cell height by dr agging does not change correct cell.

2007-01-27 Thread dastgiri
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue:
http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=55988

On Windows XP,
Using OOo Version 2.1,

The issues could be exactly reproduced on a table with 1 column and 3 rows as
mentioned above and tables with different number of columns and rows. However,
different measurement units did not seem to have effect on this. In all
measurement units, the same behaviour was observed.

Just to add that measurement units can be changed from the top left corner of
the page (where text is being typed). It is a small square on the left hand
side of the ruler on top of the page.

Modifying the length of the rows, results in different and inconsistent
outcomes.

Grabbing the bottom of the topmost cell and dragging it down to increase the
height of the topmost cell sometimes does not change anything. Other times, as
mentioned above, the length of the second row will change instead of the first
row.

Grabbing the bottom of the last row and dragging it down to increase the height
of the bottom row will also change the height of the middle row, instead of the
last (third) row.
However, once the middle row has been increased to a certain height (for
instance about 3 cm or so) dragging the bottom of the topmost cell will indeed
change the height of the first row, which is the desired outcome.

Throughout these testings, dragging the bottom of the last row never changes the
height of the last (third) row. It always changes the height of the second
row.

The work-around all of these issues is using the handles in the ruler on the
left side of the page. This always results in the desired outcome.

In certain tables, VLOOKUP behaves very poorly for non-alphabetical lists of
strings, returning the wrong rows. In a table of pure strings assigned to a
range, a list of lookups on that range will return wrong values about 1/5th
the time. I am unable to determine any kind of pattern to the error, but I
can give a few examples.

I'm not sure I understand all of the problems mentioned below. When I try to
open the attached examples, I am asked to install Open Office.org, which is
already installed!
I do have a similar problem in Writer, without importing from Word or exporting
to Word (or any other programme). When I choose right alignment for numbering,
the alignment is correct, but there is no space between numbering and text.
OOWriter offers the possibility to add space, but then the right alignment
disappears! It would be nice if this could be fixed in the next version.

[graphics-issues] [Issue 56577] erase the slide name

Using Windows XP,
Using OOo 2.1,

The issue could be exactly reproduced by following the steps mentioned above.
It should be noted that slide renaming can be done in any of the “Normal”,
“Notes”, or “Slide Sorter” views.

Once the name of a slide is changed from its original name, (which consists of
the word “Slide”, a space after that, and the number of the corresponding slide
following the space) to some other name, the new name cannot be changed back to
the original name. In other words, the name cannot be changed back to the
format consisting of the word “Slide”, a space after that, followed by the slide
number.
When this format is followed in renaming, the “ok” button is grayed out not
letting you choose this type of name. However, the name can be changed to any
other name in any other format.

The work-around for this problem is:
- Copy all the content of the slide by selecting everything and right clicking

   and choosing “Copy”
- Delete the slide by right clicking on the slide in the “Slides” bar which is
located on the left hand side of the page and clicking on “Delete Slide”.
- After the slide has been deleted, on the “Slides” bar on the left hand side
of the page, put the cursor where you want to have that slide and right click
   choosing “New Slide”.
- The new slide created has the desired name which consist of the word “Slide”,
a space after that, and the number that corresponds to the number of the
   slide.
- In the slide (not on the “Slides” bar on the left, but in the slide itself)
right click and choose “Paste”. This will copy the content of the previous
slide which could not be renamed to the desired format. Therefore you have
the same slide with the desired name format.

With the fix for issue 72417 , basegfx's B2DHomMatrix decomposition behaviour
was subtly changed for 180 degree rotation..

Before the fix, this rotation was output as a mirror-x/mirror-y scaling. After
the fix, it's a rotation. As this affects performance and output quality
(rotation is more effort), must revert this change.

Hi,

My problem is that my presentation in .odp and in .ppt is 22 Mb.
So I'm not able to post it here (max 1 Mb) or send it by email (max.
10 MB as attachment)

What I intend to do is to split up my whole presentation in a few smaller
parts and then try to post it in odp and ppt format again, so you really can
see what is my problem.

Best regards,

Peter

tra: Verified with independent build on the Intel platform.
Thank you for your team's hard work (pjanik, and others).

QA will be possible with this fix for 2.2 without having to resort to 2.0.3
testtool on Intel.

Testtool needs to be tested on PPC and other platforms to make sure that it is
not broken.

[sw-issues] [Issue 6193] Notes hard to see and edit

Has the Notes feature been addressed at all lately?

Even when it isn't compared to Word, the current feature is useless.
The actual Notes editor does not do word wrapping or spell checking, the notes
are tiny yellow boxes that could easily be mistaken for little graphics glitches
(really, the pointer doesn't even change when placed over them!), the Notes can
easily be removed by accident...
Everything that Notes do seems like a bug, and when I first discovered the
feature I thought that I was looking at the wrong thing and started looking for
'the real Comments feature', only to later discover (to my horror!) that
Insert-Note was actually it.

I cannot see many people (or, considering how popular this feature request is,
any people) using today's Note feature.

I find that a shame, because it seems to have some potential. For example, those
Notes keep track of who created them and when. A basic feature, but a nice one
nonetheless.

Mostly, this feature needs some sign that notes are present. An icon and a
simple swapping to the You are hovering over a button pointer at the
appropriate time could very well work wonders.

Improving this thing is probably a lot easier than some other features that the
developers are working on!

(And I guess I should say since this is my first thing written here and I seem
quite ungrateful: OOo is a great piece of work, and the fact that the only thing
I can find wrong is the Notes feature shows just how good it is).

I, for one, think that Word's comments are equally imperfect. They at least show
up, but at the same time they are very obtrusive. (Ugly, too!)

I like the idea of having Notes show up at the bottom of pages; it makes that
sort of stuff really easy and consistent to do.
That is one way that I think a revised Notes could work well, and I have
outlined it below:

In this example, I am including the text of a poem in a text document.

-There are some portions of this poem which are difficult to understand, so it
is necessary to add comments to certain words and lines. Conventionally, one
needs to do this 'by hand', adding the subscript numbers beside words and small
notes into the footer.

-However, OpenOffice is not a conventional word processor! I select a word and
use Insert-Note to add a note to that word (or line, or whatever). A number is
added beside it (and an indication appears to tell me that it is in fact a note
and not just a number added by myself). I can then edit that note in the Note
editor, and its text will appear in the footer.

Of course, that basic example is not really the full potential of a cleaned up
Notes feature. What if, instead of Notes content just going in the footer,
Autotext fields for Notes were added? (With different formats available, and
perhaps some entirely different fields to choose from; one for 'Notes on this
page', one for 'every note in the document'). Then one could have Notes on a
side bar, in the footer for each page, or at the end of the document.
Or, complicating further, what if Styles could be applied to notes? Joe wants
notes marked with numbers, Bob wants notes marked with underlines or bold text,
and Mark wants words that have notes applied simply not marked at all (but still
quietly clarified in the sidebar).

Room for expansion beyond that. What if Notes could have different
classifications? Some could be specifically aimed at an Index, some could be
intended for the side of the page in the final version, and then some could be
intended as temporary notes for a draft.

Of course, those thoughts there are for the most part Way Beyond just a basic
adjustment to the Notes feature. I do think, though, that it would be a good
step from 'Useless feature' to 'Extremely useful feature that goes beyond the
norm'. OpenOffice is well deserving of such a treatment, and I think it has a
lot of room.
