I've attached a patch for this issue for review. The patch arranges slides from
right-to-left in Handout view if the default text direction of the document is
RTL. This will work for new documents. For existing documents, the arrangement
will be RTL only the the user sets the layout again. See Christian Lippka's
comments at http://graphics.openoffice.org/servlets/ReadMsg?list=devmsgNo=887

as I understand you,you mean OOo has to start in the background?

I think it is an enhancement to do so.

I have downloaded OOo 2.1, and the situation is much improved.

Here is my test sequence:

1) Launch OOo by double-clicking on an ODT file.
2) View a different application while I am waiting for OOo.
3) The OOo initial splash screen forces its way on top.
4) Click anywhere in my current app to force OOO to the back.
5) At the first appearance of the OOo empty GUI, OOo comes on top.
6) Click anywhere in my current app to force OOO to the back.
7) At the first appearance of the ODT file in the GUI, OOo comes on top.

OOo is now fully loaded, and behaves normally.

I can live with three attempts to come on top. Previously, OOo forced its way to
the top 7 or 8 times, depending on the size of the ODT file being launched.

I suggest that this issue be closed.

dnaber: done. BTW, what is the minimum size (word number-wise) of thesaurus
files to make sense to include them into OOo? We're currently at 600 at
www.tezaver.si, which is less than nothing, but I wonder if a few thousand is
enough?

I suggest the thesaurus should not be included until it has 5000 to 1
words. Putting it on the server is different as you can remind people that it
is just an early version.

Ismael advised me to add if (!some_Context ) inside AquaSalBitmap:::Create()
And I now can use Calc without crash, using native menus and masked bitmaps.

The issues is caused by NULL context is passed by reference in another function.

The solution should IMHO consist in find the caller(s) and protect the call to
AquaSalBitmap:::Create
(CGContextRef xContext, int nX, int nY, int nWidth, int nHeight) when NULL
context is passes by
reference

ericb-isma87

I'll attach my changes, but this is issue is for you. ( I just need a fix for
Solutions Linux Expo )

A new, slimmed down version has been committed to cws cairoquartz01.

It has been succesfully compiled with cws aquavcl01 (native Mac OS X). You'll
need cairo libs and setting cairo=yes in config_office/configure

Running the cairocanvas (e.g. in Impress fullscreen) has still bugs/crashes, but
it works somewhat at least.

OOo 2.2 M4 crashes when the extension manager is opened and the svg import
filter (see http://www.ipd.uka.de/~hauma/svg-import/) is installed.

After removing the filter manually /(e.g. by deleting the complete profile) the
extension manager opens without crash

[sw-issues] [Issue 73954] Heavy problems with page b reaks which are directly before tables

To illustrate my problem:
- Start a new text document
- Write some words
- Press 2 times Return
- Insert a table
- Press arrow up to get back to the line between the text and the table again
- Insert a page break with Ctrl+Return
- Now you can easily remove the pagebreak with Backspace (do that!)
- Insert the page break again
- Now press Del instead Backspace, so the line between the table and the new
page is deleted
- Now try to delete the page break

When you are in the table and press Backspace, you jump to the text written
before and when you are at the end of the text and press Del you get inside the
table again.

The bring the table on the first page again you have to delete everything on the
first page. Then you have to position the cursor on the first page and press Del
(it doesn't work with Backspace inside the first table cell).

The problem: the table now stucks on the top of the (first) page again. So if
the table is on the top of e.g. page 10, you will have to delete the whole
content on page 9 to bring the table on the page before, but then the table
stucks there on the top and so on.

Drag Drop doesn't work too: Make some paragraphs with Return under the text
written on the first page, select the whole table and try to drag it on one of
the new paragraphs on the page before - you will have a additional page with the
table stucking on the top of the page again, and the original table is still
existing - with no contents.

It isn't even possible to copy the table, delete the original and paste it
somewhere in the middle of a page. The table will be insertet on a new page -
like before - again.

Undo doesn't work correctly too. Try in my attached document to drag the table
to the page before. A new page will be inserted. Chose Undo. The table will be
deleted, but the page remains and the page before has one paragraph less
(because the inserted page break isn't deleted). Another Undo isn't possible.

AND: I also had some crashes of OOo (2.0.4) in combination with that!
I think it happened ...
- when I tried to save the document or it was automatically saved
- when I tried to close the document and the save-dialog appeared
- and immediately again when I recovered the documents after the previous crash.

But unfortunately I can't reproduce the crashes.

I hope you can understand and reproduce everything, if not, please ask!
I can't imagine, that nobody before noticed that, but I could not find anything
describing exactly that problem.

'F11' is the generic key to full-screen an app, it behaves as such in every
major desktop application (Firefox, Abiword, Evince (.pdf viewier), GNOME
Terminal, etc.) the same behavior should be applied to OpenOffice. The current
Control-Shift-J neither is, or has a mnemonic; nor is it a standard by
convention.

Behavior should be altered to make F11 full-screen the app, the current behavoir
of Control-Shift-J.

There is a cell with a formatted text inside - and the cell isn't big enough to
show the whole text in one row.

When you now select the cell and copy the content (not the whole cell!) to the
clipboard, and paste the text in a text document, you'll see, that the part of
the text, which isn't in the first row, is much smaller (e.g. 6.5 pt instead of
12).

Try attached document!

In your case the page break is a property of the table. Therefore open property
dialog of the table, go to tab 'Text Flow' and uncheck 'Break'.

To insert a line before a table, which is at the beginning of the document, use
Alt+Enter.

The handling is not obvious, but as designed.

Concerning the crashes: Do you sent a crash report? If yes, please add the
number here. With no further information about the crash, the issue will be
closed. I don't get a crash with the attached document, I use OOo2.1 on WinXP.

I tested the new localized version
OOo_2.2.0_070123_LinuxIntel_install_de.tar.gz from
http://ooo.services.openoffice.org/pub/OpenOffice.org/cws/upload/localization/localisation19/linux/
with my documentation from
http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=73057
When I scroll through the document, OOo paint some graphic elements on his
gui. OOo refresh his gui only if you hint it (to the taskbar) and resize it to
his full volume. I think that must be a redraw error.
A screenshot will be soon uploaded.

Can confirm it with the attached document for OOo2.1, also with new documents I
get style errors for example different fonts.
To reproduce the error set the alignment to justified.

[api-issues] [Issue 73457] Memory Leak in Basic Argum ent Handling

2007-01-28 Thread terrye
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue:
http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=73457

--- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun Jan 28 13:24:24 -0800
2007 ---
If A is a subroutine, then the method call A(0) generates the Pcode statements
FIND A, Empty, Args
GET
The StepFIND(“A”, Empty!Args) instruction call invokes SbInstance::FindElement
which after a lot of cascade logic ends up the code branch which processes
Methods. This invokes the following statement to make the call:
SbxVariable* pNew = new SbxMethod( *((SbxMethod*)pElem) );
which cascades through the copy constructor for SbxVariable, after calling the
copy constructors for the superclass SbxValue and the properties pPar and pInfo,
this goes branch depending on where the value is readable (which it isn’t for a
method call) and then issues a Broadcast(SBX_HINT_DATAWANTED). Broadcast is a
virtual method on since this variable is a SbMethod, SbMethod::Broadcast is
invoked. It is this Broadcast that is ultimately invokes the Run method which
executes the method.

This call cascade generates the class property SbxArray refArgv created in
StepARGC() to hold the Argument Stack, the SbxVariable p created in LOADI() to
hold the constant 0 used as the parameter, and the copy constructor for SbMethod
creates a new SbMethod in. In a normal function call all three of these
variables are ultimately destroyed and garbage collected in the various exit
sequences as the routine unroll through the call stack. The first to go is the
SbxArray that was referenced by refArgv. The StepPARAM() routine fetches the
parameter with a p = refParams-Get( 0 ) and skips some processing handling
SbxERROR and coercion of types, falling though to SetupArgs(p, nOp1) which does
a p-SetParameters (NULL) if it is not a ByVal. This in turn does a
SbxArrayRef::operator= assignment to NULL, which dereferences the previous
contents and this triggers the SvRefBase garbage collection process of the now
zero reference SbxArray. The SbMethod is destroyed later in SbMethod::Broadcast
by the assignment pCst = NULL which invokes the SbMethod:: operator= which
dereferences the underlying SbMethod, and finally the SbxVariable is referenced
and deleted in pushing the return value.

However all of this logic is built on the assumption that the method actually
returns a value. In the case of a standard Sub call, the method type is SbxVOID
so this assumption is flawed. The logic flow that is folloed in this case
short-circuits code paths that dereference the values. I’ve verified this by not
setting the return value on a function call and force a return on a subroutine
call.

The challenge is no longer understanding why the leak occurs but more what is
the appropriate fix to remove it. My problem is that this whole code area seems
to have fix-ups upon fix-ups. I’ve done this in my test harness to validate the
diagnosis, but I don’t really want to propose another botch. Need to think
about this one a bit more.

Please forget the previous patch, completely wrong

Investigating more (using gdb) , it appears copyBits() returns negative values
for bitmaps dimensions.

So as uggly workaround, I have tested nDX and nDY signs, and it works. No idea
why negative values are
returned. To be continued

Please test the attached patch, to confirm/verify this is really nDX and nDY
values causing the crash

Same problem like
http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=55010

2 documents:
OLE1.odt has no headline, OLE2.odt has one (I guess it does not have anything to
do with the headlines, but so I can reproduce the problem - probably it's like
in the other issue said the anchor).

When you try to move the pictures slightly by pressing additionally Alt, while
moving the pictures with the arrow keys, the picture in the second document
always moves down, no matter which key is pressed.

Hmmm... OK, I see.

But if you don't know that? And I'm sure many people won't know that - I'm sure
I'm above the avarage Office user... wouldn't it make sense to remove the page
break with Backspace or Delete too? I mean - is there any advantage by removing
it not in this case?

And at least the not completely correct working Undo is a problem. There are
some more cases, where Undo does not work completely correct.

Concerning the crashes:
How I said - I could not reproduce them - but I just had 2 different documents
opened - just with these table attempts. It must have to do with that. But
they didn't occour immediately - I had to work a while with the documents.

I couldn't send a crash report - I don't know why, but the dialog didn't appear.
I don't know why, but it doesn't appear after every crash.

PS: I'm using OxygenOffice Professional 2.0.4!

1. Load Open Office Base.
2. Create a new database.
3. Create a new table.
4. Create a new form in design view.
5. Add a Formatted field.
6. Right click in the field and choose Form...
7. Select SQL Command from the Content Type drop down menu.
8. Close the Form Properties window.
9. Open the Form Properties window following step 6.
10. The ... button for the content line is disabled.
11. Select another Content Type from the menu.
12. Select SQL Command from the Content Type and the ... button is enabled.

Follow up testing:
1. Open the Form Properties window.
2. Choose Table from the drop down list.
3. The ... buttons for the Filter and Sort are disabled.

Reproduced on Ubuntu 6.10 Edgy Eft (Linux whitewizard 2.6.17-10-generic #2 SMP
i686 GNU/Linux). OpenOffice 2.0.4 Ubuntu packages.

There appears to be a focus problem. Steps taken on Ubuntu were:

1- Fire up Open Office Word Processor.
2- Select File|Close
(No document should be open now)
3- Hit Ctrl + O or Ctrl + Q == Nothing will happen
4- Now move the mouse cursor and click once on the application's title bar.
5- Repeat step 3 == Both shortcuts are now responsive.

In my opinion this is a focus problem, i.e. when the open document is closed
focus is not returned back to the app. I think this is why as soon as you click
on the application's title bar both shortcuts become responsive again.

This problem does _not_ occur with the same version of Oo on Arch Linux 0.7.2
Gimmick. (Linux M6805 2.6.18-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT i686 Mobile AMD Athlon(tm) 64
Processor 3000+ AuthenticAMD GNU/Linux). Here again the Oo package are from the
distro's official repos.

Additional Notes:
Problem persists on Ubuntu also with Database, Presentation, and Spreadsheet.

This issue successfully replicated however here I add some more remarks.
As the original comment states, the capitalized word in the middle of the
sentence is not marked as error. For example in the sentence “I am Buying a
car”, “Buying is not underlined as error. Even enabling “Check Capitalization”
does not resolve the problem.
I tried the same sentence in Microsoft Word 2003 where it recognizes that the
capitalized word is not correct. Therefore it underlines it with green color
since it is not spelling error (spelling errors are underlined with red color
in Ms 2003).
I also noticed that even in Ms 2003 not all words that start with capital
letter in the middle of the sentence are underlined as errors.
In fact, the only case that the spell check recognizes the error is when; the
typing mistake is a capitalized verb (not capitalized adjective/nouns) in the
middle of the sentence.
For example, the sentence “He is a Shy boy” will not be recognized as error
even in Ms 2003 while the sentence “I’m Wearing a black jacket.” is recognized
in Ms 2003.
Open office 2.1 does not recognize any capitalization error whether or not the
capitalized word in the middle of the sentence is verb or something else.
It is reasonable that enabling “Check Capitalization” should at least do some
degree error checking (at least for verbs as in Ms 2003).
I conclude/ confirm “Check Capitalization” does not do any help in recognizing
capitalized word.
Also for people who are unfamiliar how to access the “Check Capitalization”
option and other feather just follow the following steps:
1. Press F7 when you have your open office writer open.
2. A window will pup up. Then press the “Options” button at the lower left
corner. Another window will open. In the Options list you will see a few check
boxes. From there find “Check Capitalization”.

The following patch (against m199) modifies the tree for both OSX version (aqua
and X11) in the way that
it treats the MacOS directory as program directory and thus moves everything
up for one level.

The only aqua related thing is the replacement of soffice script with a
symbolic link.

The only thing missing is a sed line which changes Info.plist to contain
soffice instead of droplet for
the aqua version.

When printing a sheet of labels about a quarter inch at the bottom is not
printed. Also the vertical pitch is off slightly so it prints a bit off the
label near the end. I believe it worked in 2.0.4. Fortunately I have another
bootable partition with an ancient version that works for me.

When trying to open the file Oo displays a message regarding macros being
present in this document which might potentially contain viruses. (see
attachment)

Clicking on Disable Macros, the document opens with no problems.
Clicking on Enable Macros, the document opens with no problems.

Changing some text and saving takes a huge amount of time, but it _does_ save in
the end. I did _not_ notice a high amount of CPU usage. RAM allocated to Oo
while saving this document hovers around 70MB.

Bug not reproducible on my machine (Win XP SP1, 512MB RAM Oo 2.0.4).

Please verify that your NFS server and/or client are running the NFS lock
daemon. In some distributions, it is enabled separately. I think Fedora
requires chkconfig --levels 35 nfslock on; /etc/init.d/nfslock start. Then,
running rpcinfo -p hostname_foo should show it running.

Configuration:
Windows XP professional SP2

Build:
OpenOffice.org 2.1

I observed a somewhat different problem regarding pasting an image into open
office writer.
I have a document in Ms 2003 which contains some images along with text. I copy
entire file (including the image) and try to paste it on the open office
writer. After pasting, the text appears fine. However no image is shown. Only
the link to that image appears inside the empty box. If I double-click in the
box, a window will pop up with some options and tabs and there I can see my
image only as a thumbnail on the right hand side.
Next I tied to paste an image from the different source. I copied myPic.jpg
from my computer and then paste it on open office writer. This time image
appears correctly. I also tried the “insert” button and form there
select “Picture”. Using this approach also worked fine.
Therefore I observed that only images form Ms 2003 causes the problem.
This problem does not occur in Ms 2003. In other words I could to copy an image
from open office writer and paste it on Ms 2003 with no problem.
A possible way to work around the problem is that when pasting an image to open
office writer from the Ms 2003, do not just use “ctrl-v (or maybe right-click
on mouse + Paste).
Instead do the following:
1. From the menu tab select Edit and select “Paste Special”. A new window
will open.
2. In a new window, in the “Selection” list, selecting any of the choices
(except “HTML format” or “HTML format without comments”) and then pressing “Ok”
will paste your image correctly.
This problem arises due to type format when copying form Ms 2003 to open office
writer. Therefore by choosing a different format (using “Paste Special”) we can
paste the image to the appropriate format.
This problem does not exist in Ms 2003 and we do not need to use “Special
Paste” when copying an image form open office writer to Ms 2003.

Reproduced on Win XP SP1 Oo 2.0.4 as described in the steps.

Other considerations:
- Normal paste _does_ Work. I see now error.
- Doing a special paste with link enabled pastes a 'A?' sequence of characters.
- Updating the link in the new file will _not_ solve the problem.

I have attached a small screen shot of what the unreadable character looks like.

wrong mime-type, so attached them again as image/png, sorry for that.

I'm afraid this is _not_ a duplicate, or at least not of the bug referenced.

The issue is not that the copied _style_ is removed from the source document,
but that all _content_ is removed from the destination template.

Note that this bug only occurs when copying (or moving) styles into templates,
because only templates can be the destination of this operation while they are
not open in a Writer window. Copying into open files does not destroy their
content.

If you require it, I'll be glad to provide a video illustrating the bug.

talking about a technical duplicate - internally, the same things seem to
happen ...
