[framework-issues] [Issue 74621] Save as/Export allows fo r saving over current file in a different file format
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=74621 Issue #|74621 Summary|Save as/Export allows for saving over current file i |n a different file format Component|framework Version|OOo 2.1 Platform|All URL| OS/Version|All Status|UNCONFIRMED Status whiteboard| Keywords| Resolution| Issue type|DEFECT Priority|P3 Subcomponent|ui Assigned to|tm Reported by|murb --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sat Feb 17 12:59:22 + 2007 --- I have tried this both using Impress and Writer in both Save as and Export (PDF), and I believe it is a general issue. It is possible using the save as/export dialogs to overwrite the file currently opened. This is not a problem if you are working on the same format, but it is a problem if you overwrite this document with e.g. PDF, or another less flexible format. Steps to reproduce: 1. Create a new document 2. Draw/write/do something 3. Save it, e.g. test.odt 4. Export it/Save as, e.g. In PDF format with filename test.odt * 5. There is now no longer a file on the harddrive in the original format. Closing OOo leads to loss of this data. Expected behaviour: OOo disallows saving in a different file format on the current file. Maybe simply by saying: This file is in use Reproducability: Always * If you start typing te the name of the current document is being recommended, this makes this is how I discovered this issue myself. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Such footnote numbers appear clubbed together in the main text (not separated by comma). See the sample, in which two footnotes were inserted at a single point. The footnotes appear as 12 (which will be mistaken as footnote#12). Actually they should have appeared as 1,2. That is how any book inserts footnotes. MS Word also inserts the footnotes in the same way (just in case anyone wants to know). But still this is a defect, because it gives a wrong impression. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. After that the automatic update of styles from linked templates did not work any more. It seems, that writer compares the meta:date of meta:template inside the odt document (meta.xml) against the dc:date meta information of the linked template to decide about updating the style sheets. There seems to be no easy way out of it. Either: - document the current behavior, that using this security option breaks automatic style updates from templates - or use file system time stamp in case the date meta data is not available - or declare the date meta data as not being personal, so that it still gets saved, even when using the security option. To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=62256 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sat Feb 17 15:37:23 + 2007 --- Nearly one year later... I have the very same problem. Every step described by takeda64 is true for me, too. I first experienced it with the Stylist (Formatvorlagen as it is titled in German). Also could reproduce it with the formula editor. Workaround, as already described, is to disable showing window contents while dragging. My System Windows XP Version 2002, SP 2. I tried different screen resolutions and the same effect happened to me. My Graphic Card (if this matters) is ATI Radeon X300 SE (128MB). I also tried uninstall and reinstall OpenOffice (v2.1 by the way). I tried to use the version with and without bundled JRE... no help. This bug is really annoying. I already lost a lot of information because of such a crash. Finally I found out the workaround which at least allows me to feel secure. But as stated by takeda64, I also think this is a bug which should be fixed. If I can help you in any way tracing this bug, please feel free to tell me how. But I must admit I am already astonished by the detailed analysis takeda64 has given. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [sc-issues] [Issue 74625] Calc: Transposition: Formu la Error
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=74625 Issue #|74625 Summary|Calc: Transposition: Formula Error Component|Spreadsheet Version|OOo 2.1 Platform|All URL| OS/Version|All Status|UNCONFIRMED Status whiteboard| Keywords| Resolution| Issue type|DEFECT Priority|P3 Subcomponent|code Assigned to|spreadsheet Reported by|discoleo --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sat Feb 17 15:54:22 + 2007 --- This deals with an ERROR in the *automatic Formula Update* when transposing a selection in Calc. 1. ERROR in Referenced Cells: wrong formula update 2. VLOOKUP and HLOOKUP are NOT updated 1. Wrong Formula Update: This happens when pasting a transposed selection containing formulas over the same location. a. STEPS TO REPRODUCE: == 1. create a spreadsheet: A2: = 1 ; B2: = B2 * 2 A3: = 2 ; B3: = B3 * 2 ... A6: = 5 ; B6: = B6 * 2 2. Select A2:B6 3. CUT the selection NOTE: the selection is cut away, so NOTHING is displayed in A2:B6, giving the false impression that PASTing here is unproblematic 4. CLICK on A2 5. PASTE special; check the 'TRANSPOSE' checkbox 6. new data is in A2:E3 7. the cell A3 displays an ERROR: '#REF!' The content in this cell is =#REF!2*2. It should have been =A2 * 2. All other formulas in the other cells are updated correctly. I do NOT know how exactly the formula update mechanism operates, BUT this should be pretty simple and could be viewed as an affine transform. b. CORRECT FORMULA UPDATE == Lets say the initial data is in [CbRb; CeRe], where C stands for Column and R for Row. b = begin (first element); e = end (last element); Transposing this selection and pasting it to C'[0]R'[0] will yield this: the new data matrix will be: C'[0]R'[0] - first cell (C'[0]+Ce-Cb)(R'[0]+Re-Rb) - last cell, where C'[0] is the number of the (first) column and R'[0] is the number of the (first) row where the data is pasted; For an arbitrary initial cell (Ci and Rj), the new values will be: C'[i] = C'[0] + R[j] - Rb R'[j] = R'[0] + C[i] - Cb c. SPECIAL CONDITIONS == IF one cell contains a formula referencing a selection/ matrix that OVERLAPS the transposed selection, BUT extends beyond its boundaries, then an ERROR should be generated. The transposition would split the initial matrix into a number of NON-contiguous matrices and the user probably did NOT want this. In pseudocode, this would look like: [CbRb, CeRe] - initial matrix before transposition [CiRi, CjRj] - referenced matrix inside the formula code to update formula and detect error: IF((Ci = Ce) (Cj = Cb) (Ri = Re) (Rj = Rb)) { // THIS MATRIX CONTAINS ELEMENTS FROM THE MATRIX // THAT WILL BE TRANSPOSED, SO IT MUST BE UPDATED IF((Ci Cb) || (Cj Ce) || (Ri Rb) || (Rj Re)) { // THE MATRIX EXTENDS BEYOND BOUNDARIES // OF TRANSPOSED MATRIX = ERROR // THE INITIAL MATRIX WOULD BE SPLIT INTO // AT LEAST 2 NON-CONTIGUOUS MATRICES SET_ERROR(MATRIX OVERLAP); } ELSE { // UPDATE FORMULA C'i = C'[0] + Ri - Rb // FIRST ELEMENT R'i = R'[0] + Ci - Cb C'j = C'[0] + Rj - Rb // LAST ELEMENT R'j = R'[0] + Cj - Cb _SPECIAL_UPDATE(); // SEE POINT 2: LOOKUP } } 2. UPDATING LOOKUP === When transposing a matrix, any LOOKUP function that references that matrix should be updated. VLOOKUP() should become HLOOKUP(), and HLOOKUP() should become VLOOKUP() [only IF 2nd argument references the transposed matrix] In pseudocode, this would look like: function _SPECIAL_UPDATE() { IF(_IS_ARGUMENT_OF_FUNCTION) { IF(_IS_FUNCTION(VLOOKUP) _IS_2nd_ARG) { function = HLOOKUP; } ELSE IF(_IS_FUNCTION(HLOOKUP) _IS_2nd_ARG) { function = VLOOKUP; } } } - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. It shows both open office and Word 2003 at 100% with arial font 8pt. The table that has the tags is the one that has the bold words. In print layout I cant tell the difference, but in weblayout with OO, you can see the layout. I guess now, I'm just wondering why print layout shows something different than weblayout. I'll upload another attachment showing that. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Choose 'Fontwork' from the context menu. Apply an arc form to the text. You will get an old style fontwork. Close the fontwork window. Now try to alter the form of the fontwork. There is no way in the UI to get the Fontwork window back. My big wish for enhancement: Add an permanently item into the context menu for calling the fontwork window. Fontwork can be applied to nearly all drawing objekts and I see no reason, why you have dropped it. My small wish: If you have got an existing fontwork, then you can reach the fontwork dialog via context menu. Or make the fontwork window a normal toolbar that acts like all the other context depending floating toolbars. I know that I can customize the drawing toolbar to get that icon, but that is not a comfortable way. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=74478 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun Feb 18 00:02:33 + 2007 --- Since originally posting this bug I have completely removed 2.0.4, then installed 2.1 from 64-bit .debs that I found online. This did not resolve the drag and drop of text problem. Therefore, I now suspect that there is a problem between OOo and Ubuntu Edgy amd-64, and the fault may lie more with Ubuntu than with OOo. As a result I filed a bug report with Ubuntu as well: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openoffice.org-amd64/+bug/85248 This smells to me of a conflict or a missing module, because it affects only a small number of users of OOo 2.0.4 on Edgy amd64. Here is a thread on the Ubuntu forums where it has been discussed: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=296702highlight=drag+drop - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. I used to use OOo as distributed by FC6 on AMD64, but it had numerous problems. They ALL went away after I removed the 64 bit FC6 version, made certain I had 32 bit Java installed, and then installed the standard OOo release version 2.1. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=74478 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun Feb 18 03:57:38 + 2007 --- Yes, it is the OOo 2.0.4 from the 64-bit Ubuntu repositories. That is the only version currently in the repositories. I realize that it is standard OOo advice to tell the user install the version from OOo instead of the version released by the distro, but you cannot install 32-bit OOo on 64-bit Edgy unless you do so in a completely 32-bit environment, e.g., with chroot, VMware, etc. I suppose I could try to compile from source, but, given the complexity of OOo, I suspect that would create more problems than it would solve. If OOo would make a 64-bit .deb file available I'd be more than happy to give it a go. I did try to follow that advice by installing 2.1 from 64-bit .debs I found online (not from openoffice.org), but it did not resolve the drag and drop of text problem. While those .debs were not official, the fact that the drag and drop of text problem was not resolved by installing 2.1 tells me that it is not a bug that was fixed in later releases. This smells to me a lot like I either have something else installed that is creating a conflict, or I am missing something that OOo requires for drag and drop of text. If I knew what OOo uses for drag and drop of text I could possibly sleuth it out on my own. For example, does OOo use a feature of Gnome for drag and drop of text? Is there a library that drag and drop of text depends on? How does the code work? And I can add that I also have a problem with some settings in Tools Options not being saved to the default template. I suspect the issues are related. I'm not a programmer, but I feel that I owe it to the community to do as much as I can to help make OOo a better application for everyone. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
