I checked with 2.0.2 German version WIN XP: [680m5(Build9011)] and can
confirm the reported effect: save process seems to stop at 75% save progress,
but after app. 1/4 hour the save process will come to an end.

I checked with 2.2.0 Dev. Snapshot WIN XP: [680m7(Build9118)] and it still
takes a long time to save the document, but not as long as with 2.0.2.

Strange observations;
When I open 'SzInfosLE.zip' with 2.0.2 the Macro warning box will appear 2
times, the second one 1-2 seconds after the first one.

In the Macro dialogues I see listed a Python macro 'C:Programme\Microsoft
Office\Office\Winword'

The document contains 2 linked contents (pls. test 'Edit Links') what do not
exist, (2. Foil MAD / look at Foil #4?).

Currently It seems that the document is damaged, but of course, it should be
possible to save it within a normal time.

I can't confirm it with Debian GNU/Linux

and I haven't seen it before since nearly two years.

So I think we need more information about your system (exact version number of
ODBC and the source where you get it).

Also it would be helpfull to know the content of your odbc.ini.

Thank you for the comment.
But I think that it is a perhaps different problem.

Please look at image1.jpg and image2.jpg
Screenshot image1.jpg and image2.jpg are the same Drop Caps settings.

Settings is
[Paragraph]-[Drop Caps]-[Settings]
Number of characters: 1
Lines: 3

When the first character of the paragraph is Japanese Kanji ichi,Drop Caps
don't work.
When the first character of the paragraph is not Japanese Kanji ichi,Drop Caps
normally work.

Sorry I'm not a good writer of English. But I want you to know the truth.

The hotspots of an imagemap are not clickable while in presentation mode.
This makes the imagemap feature not at all useful.

I've never seen a request for reboot on ME and 98. OOo 2.x has always been
working ine on these systems without reboot. But I doesn't test it on a virgin
system. I also think that the number of virgin ME and 98 systems is quite low
(setting a new prio). That leads me to the conclusion that if this might be a
problem, it is a problem that is not worth the efford to fix it.
@ is: What do you think?

File
http://www.openoffice.org/nonav/issues/showattachment.cgi/43269/broken.sdw
hungs OO in a nasty way - OO simply freezes without any visual feedback and
user is left wondering what is going on. Happens on WinXP and WinME with 2.2m7
and 2.2m8, also with 2.2m8 on Suse 10.2 KDE.

I agree with lleroux : cdeval's proposition sounds nice for users and
developpers, and clear.

(I don't understand all subtilities about ODT's format, so I won't discuss about
it.)

About times requiered to calculate position of formulas: don't forget it will be
better in any case than manual positionning...

Good luck, OOo developpers, in your ODT's format discussions ( developpements
about #972) ;-) and thank you for this so important job !

The feature is already there. Insert a 'No-width optional break' in your very
long word. You get it with Insert - Formatting Mark or with short cut STRG+/.
You must get the / without shift on you keyboard, for example use the numpad. If
you do not find the entry in Insert - Formatting Mark, then goto Tools -
Options - Language Settings - Languages and enable 'Enhanced Language
Support'.

Add a function to allow a linux OOo word completion list (autocorr?) on a new
install of OOo made on a different machine (usually Windows XP).

I often install OOo on machines at Internet cafes or offices where I need to
continue working on a .doc document. Even when MS Word is available I prefer
OOo because its automatic word completion potentially saves me from
unnecessary typing and wear on my hands.

I would like to be able to specify an ftp account on a remote server, and have
OOo periodically upload the latest version of the word list file (maybe this
is autocorr). Then I would like to be able to import that into the current
word completion list used for a session of Writer on a different machine.
Ideally I could have the option of doing this on a per session basis, having
the imported file deleted (roll bak autocorr file) because it might well
contain sensitive information like client names, etc.

If the files are compatible between platforms, at least some information on
the site about how to do it manually would be useful at a minimum. Practically
I think it must be very hard for most people to do this.

Automatic word completion is noted by many journalists as a key benefit and
difference of OO Writer from MS Word. I particularly use it to reduce strain
on my hands.

Currently it only supports single words, I believe. However, individuals often
use specific phrases that they like or that are needed by a client i.e. to
remain integrated with other documents. So a number of multi-word phrases are
likely to appear many times in a large document (especially technical docs).

I would like to propose that this function be extended to include phrases as
well. For example if it remembered from client to server then when I
type client t it will see a potential multiword phrase, and suggest client
to server as a completion.

To keep things sane I believe this would require the document to be indexed in
real time and a running count of frequency of phrase usage for the current
session be maintained. A simple heuristic would note phrases that appear often
and add them to the word completion file (perhaps this is autocorr).

The suggestions would become even more useful if for example there are two
commonly used long phrases that are similar up to a certain point, and the wor
d completion function could suggest a choice between them in a way similar to
Visual Studio style function suggestions, but this is really icing on the cake.

Since the autocomplete function is so evidently useful, and is I think a major
point for it over competitors, I believe it should be improved.

Therefore I have submitted this recommendation, and also have at the same time
submitted a recommendation for the ability to save the autocor file on a
remote ftp server account and import it on a per-session basis into other OOo
installations. Thank you for your consideration and enthusiasm! Hooray OOo
Team!

ODBC information:
My systems are running ODBC version 3.525.1117.0
This is not something I built from source; ODBC is included with Windows XP.
Both systems use mysql-connector-odbc-3.15.12, which is the latest from
mysql.com.
I'm attaching the ODBC.INI files.

Could someone put a new chart-prefix to the bug summary?

I think this is a very important problem, but unlikely to be fixed in the old
chart. However, it should get fixed in the chart2. I don't know if Cairo or such
could be utilized, or what else could be done to fix showing graphics properly.
Jagged edges are starting to stand out in a negative way if found in modern
software.

On Windows XP, during the process in which Writer automatically saves the
state of a file being edited, keypresses seem to be ignored. I thought I had
experienced this a few times before and just now it happened right before my
eyes.

I was typing an English word of 5-6 letters and just as I hit the first key,
Writer decided to do an autosave. The following letters I pressed as it was
doing this (with the save progress bar advancing) were all eaten up and did
not appear appended to my document as you might think they would.

Machine: ASUS S-presso. Windows XP. Two open web pages to dictionary sites
(nothing extraneous going on), the latest Adobe Reader 8 also open. Minimized,
1 windows folder and 1 folder that is an ftp connection to another site (timed
out by now). Keyboard is by Foster, a nice looking pc keyboard. (a different
computer than the linux machine I had been using when previously experiencing
this).

Does OOo intentionally ignore the keyboard when autosave is in progress and
then clear the keyboard buffer when autosave ends? Don't know how to reproduce
this.

ArchLinux x86_64 from source without ooo-build: until OOo 2.1.0 the about box
was fine reporting ArchLinux as vendor and the right version number. now notice
the missing vendor and the wrong verion it reports:

http://home.arcor.de/a.radke/tmp/OOo/broken_about.png

This only happens on our x86_64 builds. i686 is reported to be ok.

We had used that patch:
http://cvs.gnome.org/viewcvs/ooo-build/patches/src680/intros-config_office.diff?rev=1.4sortby=fileview=log

and tried also without it now. These are the switches with try to give the build
- i have played a lot with them without success:

# Set OOO_VENDOR in build environment
export OOO_VENDOR=ArchLinux

# #FIXME: this is taken from fedora but didn't work :(
# #Set the This product has been created by... in Help-About
# unset USERNAME
# export USER=ArchLinux

and ./configure --with-vendor=ArchLinux --with-build-version=${pkgver}
ArchLinux build-${pkgrel}\

Can anybody confirm that for OOF680_m9 builds? How to solve that or for what
should i grep in my build.log ?

Thanks.

It appears that reproducing my issue is going to be very difficult.

1) The trouble does not occur when using OOo on Linux. (The reason I wanted to
use OOo on Windows is that the version of OOo provided by Fedora Core 5 updates,
openoffice.org-core-2.0.2-5.20.2.i386, etc., is extremely unstable on my system.
I haven't taken the time to try to build OOo myself or to install a non-Fedora
binary.)

2) The trouble does not seem to occur with newly created databases. I
reproduced my 'live' database exactly; the new database works fine. I suspect
that reproducing the issue will include the following steps:
- Install MySQL V4.1 on Linux
- Create database
- Upgrade to MySQL V5.0

Hi,

in svtools' svdem, run Fonts dialog.

Rotate wheel mouse button when you are over the highlighted number 12. The font
list moves down, now
click on 96. It is highlighted. So far it is good.

Now rotate the wheel up so 6 is displayed. Click on it. 72 will be highlighted!

Searching at
http://qa.openoffice.org/issue_handling/pre_submission.html (top of
attached presubmission-search.PNG)for anything produces
No matching search results found.
(bottom of presubmission-search.PNG).

This has started just recently (approx a week ago).

Clicking Search (circled in green of presubmission-search.PNG) on
resulting page produces correct results.

Setting P2 as it greatly increases the chances of submitting dup, thus
increasing workload on QA and developers.
Please fix this problem ASAP.

This is a spin off from Issue 71930 and Issue 67261.
I checked with 2.2.0 Dev. Snapshot WIN XP: [680m7(Build9118)] and saw
- There are still Problems with the fix in Issue 67261 (does not work for ?,
typographic quotes and several others))
- Some other side effects are visible
- Autocorrect does not work for all replacements in the same way (compare
'(c)' and 'st' in front of colsing brackets, non typographic brackets, ...)

For all this pls. see my testkit.zip, where I did some systematic tests.

Please feel free to reopen Issue 67261 and mark this as a DUP if you believe
that that would be the best way to handle this issue.
Pls. feel free to close this issue if you see this fixed in 2.2.0 RC

andyrtr: I checked my builds (vanilla without this patch). I see my vendor name
in the about, I only export
OOO_VENDOR before build.

So it looks like you have a problem with exporting this variable - can you
check what is its value in your
environment?

Can you test the build *without* this patch and set this variable manually?

Hello!
Type for example:
left ( matrix{1#2##3#4} mline matrix{5 over 7##6} right )
In the first line the vertical alignment is correct. In the second line it
fails. The vertical line is used for example to write an extended matrix. So in
my example 3, 4 and 6 should be on the same height.

Hello! The situation (look the attachment).
I've made a system of three equations (using stack). I want to place lbrace
(which vertical size equals to two equations) bottom left beside the second and
the third equation. Math allows me only to place lbrace in the middle: the
vertical alignment is middle anyway.
There are some other ways to solve the problem: for example, to separate the
first equation from the rest ones. But I need all the three equations in one
stack.
I think, it should be good to make possible a vertical alignment (maybe alignu,
alignd and alignm).

[www-issues] [Issue 972] Alignment of baselines of fo rmula and text in writer

I agree that cdeval's solution is relatively easy to implement, but I don't
understand one thing:
If the information that a formula is baseline aligned with the surrounding text
is not stored in the file, how is the OOo Math module supposed to know after
reloading such a document that the user wanted the formula to be aligned in such
way? OOo would never know THAT it has to check and (if necessary) recalculate
the vertical alignment, as far as I understand this approach.

cdeval also wrote:
 2) Currently, I you change text attribute (font, size, color, ...) of a
paragraph which includes a formula, this one doesn't change because these
parameters are independant of text. So, you get a difference between text and
formula. I think it wouldn't be a defect if alignement wouldn't change. A
double click on formula to open math module will recalculate the right
position. And if there is too much formulae to recalculate position one by
one, add-on such as dmaths or CmathOOo will do the job

This sounds like a bad hack to me. In every software professional for
professional use (and I assume OOo is such software), the user must be able to
RELY on the software to follow a decision the user has once done. If the user
tells OOo that a certain formula must be aligned correctly with the text, then
the user will simply expect OOo to maintain this state, no matter if the
document is closed/reopened, text size is changed, the formula is changed or
whatever! Any solution that requires the user to remember to update the formula
or all formulae explicitly should only be short term solution.

The problem I had was not one that could easily be reproduced. I have
been doing a lot of work lately, so I have not had my system (or
OpenOffice) left running for the length of time I had before. I'm also
now using OO 2.0.4 under FC6. The basics are:

long, multi-sheet spreadsheet, when open for 1+ weeks (used nearly daily),
at random times would decide to not save as .ods, only .xls. If I could
find a pattern that would guarantee the behavior, I'd be happy to share it
with you. It sounds like some others who've posted to this thread have
had more frequent issues with the problem.

I have not had the problem since my last upgrade, however, my use pattern
has changed, since I've had to regularly shut down and restart completely
for other projects. I'll attempt to duplicate and will let you know if I
can keep the long-project going long enough to say with confidence the
problem was resolved for me.

ATM if you create a document and later want to updtate the formatting to a new
template, you either copy and paste the entire document into a fresh document
made by the template, or you apply the template by 'importing styles'

now the first method is inconvenient, especially if you have some important
fields and setup details, such as finely arranged picturing that may get
trashed by the copy and paste process, or a linked in database, or a document
description.

The second method means you are condemned to update the styles manually every
time the template changes, instead of them being updated automagically as they
should be, this is inconvenient for people like me who have a base of documents
all formatted to a select set of templates which I may suddenly decide to
change at some point.

The simplest solution would be to allow the user to refresh the template, thus
load in all the styles and get the documents 'template' property to point to
the new template.

I would do this myself, but ATM i'm just a user, and have no experience with OO
code

I tried today newest build OOo 2.2 m9 (provided by Pavel Janik)on Windows XP.

Several serif-fonts - especially when using small sizes (10pt., but effect
occurs, depending on font, with e.g. 12pt. too) - show on print a very
unsatisfying result (printer was an inkjet Canon i550). Some characters ( e.g.
H, l, b, t) look like there are 'scratches' around the 'upper half'. 'Small'
characters like uncapitalized o, e, a, s ..., which don't exceed the 'under
half' look better. (sorry I'm not a specialist in typography).

Font's I've tried (I've printed them several times, to be sure it was not
paper/ink or bad moon-jupiter conjunction ...):

Frutiger 47LightCN (Sans-serif, Truetype by Adobe): Fine
DejaVu Sans (Sans-Serif, TrueType, modified Bitstream Vera): Fine
DejaVu Serif (Serif, TrueType, modified Bitstream Vera): Bad
Linux Libertine (Serif, TrueType, by Philipp H. Poll): Bad
Times New Roman (Serif, OpenType, default by Microsoft XP): Bad

OOo 2.1.0 on Windows XP crashes when I attempt to open an existing database.
Steps to reproduce:
- uncheck Load OpenOffice.org During System Start-Up
- Exit Quickstarter
- select OpenOffice.org Base from Start/Programs menu.
in Database Wizard:
- select Open an existing database file
- select a Recently used database from the drop-down list.
- click Finish
At this point I see a window appear for a fraction of a second, then disappear.
If I start Base again, I get the OpenOffice.org Document Recovery dialog.
After I proceed through the recovery, the OpenOffice.org Base window appears,
(possibly) allowing access to the database (depending on the database, see Issue
73093).

I can create a new database, and I will get the same results when I attempt to
open that database using the above procedure.
Database creation procedure:
- select OpenOffice.org Base from Start/Programs menu.
in Database Wizard:
- select Connect to an existing database
- select MySQL
- click next
- select connect using ODBC
- click next
- type name of data source
- click next
- either enter user name or use name in ODBC, this doesn't make a difference
- click test connection
- click finish
- type name into Save As dialog
The OpenOffice.org Base window appears.

I first noticed this problem after I installed several Windows updates.
I no longer suspect the problem to be related to the Windows updates, as I had
been avoiding attempts at using Base due to errors since upgrading from 2.0.2 to
2.1.0.
Uninstalling/reinstalling OOo did not help.

I can not decide whether the crippled page view with SEAMONKEY is caused by

Common.xcu is built from OpenOffice.org when the program is run. This file is
needed to carry settings from one session to another. File History is one of
these features carried forward.

@sardisson:
Yes, this is a standard per Apple HIG. Maybe this is something that the Mac
team can bring into the mainstream program?
