I am facing one problem during using open office 2.2 calc, that is whenever
there are multiple user within a Lan, users can not share the workbook with
full access. If one file or sheet is open by any user then the same file or
sheet becomes readonly for another user who is trying to use it at the same
time.
In MS Excel there is an option in the menu TOOLS- 'share workbook'.Which
allows multiple users to access the same work sheet at the same time with the
full authority.

Can confirm the slow loading of the document on Mac OS X Intel OpenOffice.org
2.2. However editing seems to be fine. It is probably the large document size
that is causing the slow load times.

I believe that whenever a user first encounters this issue, he will perceive it
as a bug, since from the user's point of view there is no obvious difference
between external and internal objects. Also, no such difference seems to be
documented, and even if it were, nobody would expect an embedded image to be an
external object. Also, competitors today do not have such problems anymore.

Hence, I suggest that this issue be assigned a higher priority and a target
milestone. And and believe that it would even make sense to rate it a defect
instead of an enhancement.

That's interesting.

I've noticed the amount of decimal places used in a standard formatted cell is
always 2, when a value with more decimal places than 2 is entered.

The effect is present in OO 2.2.0

Entering 1.2345 in a cell with the standard format.
The cell displays: 1.23

Hi.,

Have you made any progress on this issue? It is really frustrating
because I keep forgetting not to select a row and I just had about 4
hours of work wiped out because of it. I know it is my fault for not
saving often enough, but all the same I'd like this bug to get fixed!

Works for me without problems.

Does it occur with every spreadsheet? If not, please attach the faulty

Does it occur with a new user?

How do yo select the row? For example clicking on row head or using Shift+space

I think the issue 36393 is a bit similiar to this one. What's more important i
found a following comment made by Fst in it:

personally I would like to close this Issue as wontfix because our Standard
numberformat just uses the appropriate decimal places entered. So integers are
shown without decimals and results of a calculation resulting in numbers smaller
than zero are displayed with an accurate number of decimals. The user can
explicitly set the format to integer.

But, the amount of decimal places is not appropriate. It is always equal 2. So,
either
- the Standard format was changed from 1.0.3 to work otherwise
- the Fst was wrong
- the Standard format works incorrectly, now.

Hi,

for the date and time fields it would be helpfull to connect
the Min. Date/Time and Max. Date/Time with calc cells...

Example:

A currency list has to be updated every month.

   AB
1 01.01.2007 111A1 - Min. Date
2 ...
3 01.02.2007 112A3 - Max. Date

Well, I suppose that every user when using IE to paste in Calc would expect that
the table would be pasted in different cells.

Simple users will never know about the special paste formats. When they use
Excel, things work as one would expect. They will thus conclude than OOo is
buggy.

Any idea how this could be changed to behave nicely when pasting in Calc?
Enhance the RTF filter in Calc? Is there already an issue about it?

Changing of a range of cells to the Standard format fails, if one of the cells
in the range is in the Standard format, and other cells are in different format.

The workaround is to change the whole range to some other format, then to the
Standard format.

The experiment:

- enter a few numberical values in a range of cells with the Standard format.
- change one of the cells in the range to to some other format. (% for an
instance)
- select the whole range.
- try to change the whole range to the Standard format
(it will fail)

- now try to change the whole range to currency or some other format
- then change the range again to Standard format
(it will work correctly)

Just wanted to add that I couldn't reproduce it on Windows XP so indeed it seems
to be a Linux only problem.

As the issue is urgent I assign it to cd immediately without waiting for
confirmation by tm.

It is not a dup of 59251. The patch proposed in 59251 is Windows-only (it
patches the file sal/osl/w32/process.c). An OS-independent patch would be to
disable any charset conversion of command-line arguments, but I don't know if
this would be OK for Windows.

Anyway, the locale problem I mentioned (whether this has an effect or not) seems
to be specific to Mac OS X.

[sc-issues] [Issue 73912] CALC 2.2_m2 is slower then 2.0.4 _AND unstable_

Just for the records:
The workaround for the CALC flickering view problem (Issue 74494) from Issue
74494 / Issue 73602 causes an other new problem: Formulas will not be shown in
a cell if it becomes inserted while multiple cells are marked. So the final
patch must go some other way.

Steps to reproduce:

1. open new CALC document
2. Mark A1:A2 by mouse with pushed left button
3. press '='
4. click on B1 and mark B1:B2 with pushed left mouse button
expected: =B1:B2 should be visible in 'A2' and input pane
actual: only visible in input pane, not in 'A2'

This effect is definitively caused by the workaround in 'Common.xcu' (for my
2.2.0RC4 German version WIN XP: [680m14(Build9134)]), it disappears when I
delete the patch from 'Common.xcu'.

Works for me without problems.

Does it occur with every spreadsheet? If not, please attach the

Does it occur with a new user?

How do yo select the row? For example clicking on row head or
using Shift+space

bar?

If I write a string to a cell and this string is also used in some list (Tools
Options Spreadsheet Sort Lists (or similar, I run OOo in Czech language)),
the string changes its capitalization according to the string from the list.

AFAIK, this behavior cannot be switched off.
The only known workaround is to delete the list.

I have many spreadsheets containing ST strings in cells - but st is a value
from a default list in Czech OpenOffice. I had to delete the list (which is
pity, because it may be useful).

It was also horror to discover that this behavior is caused by the lists. I
almost quit using OOo because I couldn't stand its constant rewriting of my
strings. I expected that I should be able to switch this behavior off in the
Automatic corrections but it is not the case, sadly.

This may be the occasion to add a new feature allowing to sort fonts. At the
moment, you can install many funny fonts because they will bother you in a
everyday use, flooding your font list when you only need straight fonts.

The ideal would be to class separately fonts that : 2) don't fit the current
language charset or 2) are fantasist 3) are for symbol use only. We could fisrt
put standard use fonts, then funny ones, and then symbols, using separators
(just an idea).
I don't know whether there may be a metadata that could be used to tell a font
is for a specific use.

Using Ubuntu Linux, for example, your font list is full of useless fonts that
*have* ASCII glyphs, but of poor quality.

This could be a main feature, because today it's difficult to choose a nice font
for a base user. AFAIK, MS Office doesn't have it... ;-)

This is a summary of Calc functions, including return value, parameters and
source code module where they are defined.

I decided to do this, because I did NOT find any useful information on many
aspects of OOo code. Before the community can more effectively start working on
the code, it is necessary to have a good documentation on this code, data types
and functions. I miss this very much.

As my time is very limited, I have NO time to struggle to find the information I
am looking for. So this should be a central place where to find this
information. Creating a new wiki page seems an alternative solution.

The file OOo.Calc.Fx.Names.ods contains a table with all Calc functions
defined in the files 'interpr1.cxx' through 'interpr6.cxx'. In the second table
I have selected some of the functions that seem more relevant (this is NOT a
full list).

I have used a gawk script to scan the source files and retrieve this information
(see attached OOo.Calc.Fx.Names.awk file for the script).

Beyond this basic information, every function should be thoroughly documented.
Some functions are self explanatory, but many are NOT. So, some help is needed
to accomplish this task.

Also, there are many *data types* that are used inside the code and which are
not documented. Please consider contributing, IF you have some spare time and
the necessary knowledge.

Hi,

I made a documents with OOo Writer 2.1, and

I am sorry, but my english is not really good. I made a document with OOo Writer
2.1, with text as absolute hyperlinks (to pdf files)and they work very good. But
I would like to make RELATIVE HYPERLINKS, so I can move the files (inside the
same folder) from PC to another.
I tried everything but they do not work. Instead of
file:///C:/Documents../../RDBMS/file.pdf I wrote file:///../RDBMS/file.pdf
like classical relative hyperlink syntax.

I would be happy about an answer!

--- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sat Apr 21 17:16:19 +

It would be helpful if SQL could be exported.
The first row would be the column name, the following rows would result in an
insert statement.
For example at the moment I am preparing a table for iso 639 language codes:

A B C D E
639-1 639-2T 639-2B 639-3 Name
de deu ger deuGerman
en eng eng engEnglish

Would be great to have it as insert statements like:

insert into languages ('639-1','639-2T','639-2B','639-3','Name') values
('de','deu','ger','deu','German');

insert into languages ('639-1','639-2T','639-2B','639-3','Name') values
('en','eng','eng','eng','English');

The table name must be configurable.

eelkogielis,
either I am doing wrong steps or problem is fixed (with m209 on WinXP).
Please try yourself with OO 2.2 (on Windows, if possible) and if you still
experience the same provide detailed steps that lead to the problem.
Thanks.

Dear OO developer,

I think I have discovered a problem in Writer 2.2 / German (downloaded from
http://de.openoffice.org/): it crashes instantly every time you do the
following:

a) Open a new text document.

b) Type a random text, e. g. “ghghjds” in “Times New Roman” or an other true
type font such as e. g. “Arial” (Linux fonts seem to be no problem).

c) Insert | Special Character | “Times New Roman”.

d) Scroll till the bottom of the font table, i. e. till the “ OBJ” character
mark it and than scroll upward...

= The result: OpenOffice Writer 2.2 crashes instantly every time I do this.

To my machines:

Athlon 3500+, 1024 MB MDT DDR2 RAM, MSI K9N NEO-F AM2 NF550; OS: GNU/Linux 2.6
(Debian 4.0 / Gnome; Suse 10.2 / KDE; Ubuntu 7.04 / Gnome). Java run time
environment is properly installed. OpenOffece 2.2 predictably crashes under
either OS. OpenOffice 2.1 is fine.

Athlon 1800+, 512 MB RAM, Gigabyte GA-K8NSC-939; OS: GNU/Linux 2.6 (Debiam
4.0/Gnome; Ubuntu 7.04/Gnome). Java run time environment is properly installed.
OpenOffece 2.2 predictably crashed under either OS. OpenOffice 2.1 is fine.

I hope this was helpful.

Best regards
Dimitri Jakobi

Hi,
I'm the one from the most recent duplicate (apologies).
What I don't see clearly explained in this issue, is that the single option set,
affects all letters, labels, envelopes.
It's a big warning that I give to all people I help with OOo: don't touch that
check box ...
The hint from André (extra button Mail Merge) makes more clear that the option
is a legacy from OOo 1.x, IMO, where that button was in the menu Tools.

Your wish is not clear to me. Why export a single 'insert' statement? Or do you
mean, that the whole table definition and all its insert statements is exported?
Which syntax should be used?

Please have a look at issue 58915. I guess, that it describes what you want.

Remark at the fist comment in this issue:
'OOo 2.0 shows warnings at several places, such as save in non-default file
format ...'
That option can be reset (anyway in OOo 2.1 and 2.2 at least) via
Tools|Options|Load saveGeneral.
I've never met an option that cannot be reset, other than issue 51906. (But to
be honust, I didn't search for them ;-) .

I cannot reproduce it for OOo2.2 on WinXP. Do you have got an error report? Do
you use an official OOo version?

P3, because it is a very special situation.

Someone with Linux should try it.

A great enhancement to Base would be to allow to put put text fields, like those
used for mailing, into Base forms documents. I mean something similar to
datasource, but using the current database instead of selecting one in the list,
and with fields displaying values form the current row. That way, I could type
some text, and include values from the database into that text.

For example, I could make a template letter, with fields for name and address,
and navigating into the database, I could choose and print only the letter I
need. It would be similar to mailing, but without the need of a document
external to the database. And it could be mixed with input boxes as well.

I saw a similar function in FileMaker Pro. In that software, if I put a field
name between into a text, this is replaced by the field value in Use mode.
But in OOo, fields would be better than using special characters to achieve
that.

Take this as a suggestion...
I think Outline Numbering, Line Numbering and Footnotes are more related to
document format than to tools. In my sense, they allow to modify the appearance
of the document, they don't perform an operation. In fact, the first time I
looked for those functions, I looked into the Format menu first.

drigway's assertion that having 123.45678 shrink
to 123.46 if a cell gets too narrow is deficient behavior.

I didn't write this. See my comments above for what I think about this issue.

Ok, so there are lots of us that want this feature but we can't get enough
priority to do it. So what are the chances of us getting hold of the source code
and doing the job ourselves?

If there is no match font found in system, openoffice will eventually lost
ability to display the whole content right, especially when it comes a file
(document or sheet etc) with Chinese. Abiword has gained the ability partially
in development version of 2.5.1 through some pango magic, Openoffice when?
