Please implement paragraph selection as in Wordpad.

Double-click in the margin to select the entire paragraph including the
paragraph
marker. Shift-click to extend the selection. Control click to select all
(entire
document). Single-click to select a line (nearest sentence might be more
useful).

Already familiar to many users, intuitive, and easy to use. (Quadruple click is
difficult and quickly tiring if used repeatedly).

Not to mention user-specified date format, per the ODF spec. But I guess there
is another issue already open for that more general question.

1. Open the attached file.
2. Count to 10.
At this point you are hung and OpenOffice is non-responsive.

Observed with OO 2.0 on both Linux and Windows XP.

This seems to be issue 77469 although that issue doesn't mention that there ever
was a patch committed. I already expressed my concerns about a package
that is experimental and unchanged since 2003 but the actual code inside is
trivial. So installing Filesys::CygwinPaths from CPAN should solve this.

And yes, a little warning and an update of the build requirements would have
been
nice.

Twice while working on the report Report3 in the attached database to Issue #
77146 a situation arose where the page area in the designer slid off the
screen. The scroll bar then disappeared and he page area could not be recovered,
without closing and reopening the report. In both case I saved the report in
that state and upon reopening the layout was un-affected.

In the first instance the font for the text box in the top level group header
was increased, such that the contents did not render correctly when the report
preview was run. When I went to expand the size of the text box I went to far
upwards with the mouse and the page area scrolled off the bottom of the screen.

In the second instance I was attempting to align all the controls int he detail
area, lassoing from right to left and upwards. Again I went a tad to far to the
left and the whole page slid off to the right.

Attempts to force it to happen again have been in vain.

I am attaching a screen shot of the designer window just after the second time.

Again, the report can be saved and there seems to be no loss to the layout upon
re-opening.

Using the cws_oj14 build it appears that grouping on dates does work.

I am changing it to "framework" because such wording
appears in all applications (Writer, Calc, etc.).
If you decide to change this, I would suggest you
discuss this with your Chinese (Traditional) and
Chinese (Simplified) translators.

Thanks.

I am changing it to "framework" because the Impress linebreaker
has the same problem. In a moderately-sized text box, entering:
111 11、1、、
it breaks at the space instead of after Chinese punctuation.

If you need more clarification, please e-mail me.
Thanks.

Just to increase confusion: I updated my transformation (odt2txt). It is now
able to transform paragraphs, headings, bold and italics character styles,
native OpenDocument links, and ordered and unordered lists. Additionally, it
respects the special styles WikiMath and WikiLink. Tables are currently not
supported.

Hi,
The .04 line prints correctly for me.
I see more a problem with the .03 ...
More in general, displaying at different zoom level, shows different lines on my
screen. However, that doesn't influence the result on paper...
I make some prints and attach them in a minute.

@vg: I think everything except python is OK and ready for integration. Maybe
it is better to resynchronize to the nearest milestone first.

You can find mingw-runtime-3.11.tar.gz at sourceforge.

http://sf.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=2435

I think pure mingw tools may be preferable but it has pros and cons to using
cygwin compiler. I will update building instruction.

/Applications/OpenOffice.org 2.2.app/Contents/MacOS/program/
I can start OpenOffice by typing
./soffice
but I get the following error message:
I18N: Operating system doesn't support locale ""

Is there any solution to that?

Regards,
Per Aronsson

Hi Volker,
As with 77348 all my macro-libraries we gone. Anyway, didn't show up, but still
on the HDD. So it's no real data loss, admittedly. (Thus change to P3)

However, reading your comment (not closing quickstarter) and Paul's comment on
the [EMAIL PROTECTED] (same problem as I filed in 77296) I'm feeling a little
uncomfortable with the installation.

We released some new "liberation" fonts which are MS compatible with the big
three, and so I'd like to add the following patch that sets their MSCompat names
so that export as .doc will add the MS equivalents as the fallback fonts for MS
to use if liberation is not installed

[sw-issues] [Issue 1035] language setting for typed text should be set to current input locale (ke yboard setting)

You didn't read what I wrote.

To handle your case you lets the user define two "keyboards" with the same
physical layout but one associated with the EN_US language and the other with
German.
So when the switch happens you change the langage mode but not the physical
layout itself (and yes that means you have to press the switch key just to to
inform the app you changed language even if you don't need the physical langage
switch)

That's how it works under windows now. That's the only sane way to have it work
accross apps (please do not even consider an OO.o-specific switcher)

Under UNIX/Linux you probably need to talk with the xorg guys to add a langage
info in addition to layout info in xkb, or ask svu to have the GNOME keyboard
switcher emit a d-bus langage notification

Well, I have found how to make the second patch, yeah ^_^.
I add the 'remove' action to the undo list. It fixes all sides effect and
permits to undo/redo the remove part of the macro, if needed.

I'll ask Eike/Niklas tomorrow to see if the patch is correct.

-> nn : Do I take this one ? Or do you want to add it on your cws ?

Hmm, what would you expect? Selecting only one control? Not really a good idea,
as it would kill the feature that you can move both newly-inserted controls
around. Enabling the menu item when multiple controls are selected, but then
open the dialog for /one/ of those controls only? That'd be a pretty bad UI ...
I'm tempted to resolve this as INVALID ...

fs->oj: since numeric values work, I suppose this is on the engine side ... does
it expect some other syntax here? This would be bad, as the conditional
formatting dialog does not *really* have a chance to determine whether the field
control is numeric or string (imagine a field which is bound to a complex
expression).

Since I produced two invalid issues (I forgot to close quickstarter before
installing) could it be possible to make the installation close the quickstarter
(OOo-proces) if it is running (thus, the user forgot to close it)?
Since installing with quikstarter running leads to possible data-loss, I would
suggest P2

[www-issues] [Issue 1035] language setting for typed text should be set to current input locale (ke yboard setting)

The past months ( + ...) as I change UI-language via Tools|Options and close

Anyway, on XP.

In my example of writing english and german documents with the same keyboard no
tricky configuration could find out which language my document should have.
That's something I have to select manually.

So we have two concurrent ways to determine the document language: automatically
and manually. We must find the best way to resolve this concurrency. "Best"
means best for the users and best for the deployment/configuration.

Thanks for your suggestion. We will consider it as one of the possible options
to see which one is the "best" as described above.

mba, you just need to have switchers that define (langage, IME/keyboard) duplets
and define the same keyboard for English and German in your switcher (that's how
windows works BTW). + allow tagging manually a text span with another langage
(for people that write short quotes in another language but do not use it enough
to justify configuring a separate (langage, IME/keyboard) duplet)

Problem solved

Also if OO.o is actually made language aware it won't need to check documents
with every spellchecker available, just the right ones, and resource use and
speed will improve.

Well, a first test didn't take very long. And the results are not very
attractive.

I took a simple document that consists of text, lists, some hyperlinks and a
table.

Result of the conversion:

many of the list didn't make it, the table is gone and all(!) hyperlinks. Also
non-ascii characters (like custom quotes) didn't convert correctly. That was
what I spotted in two minutes of review.

All in all the transformation doesn't look usable to me. Especially losing all
hyperlinks is a disaster.

I don't know if anyone is willing to fix the transformation. In case not we
should set the issue type back to "FEATURE".

AFAIK "XMLOasisExporter" exports to ODF, "XMLExporter" exports to the old OOo

Meanwhile I think we should perhaps close this issue and open another one
adressing the formula editor topic.

It's totally unclear to me whether the votes assigned to this issue really
target this topic or if they have been given to get LATEX export what basically
is done now.

Opinions, anyone?

Some thoughts about the feature.

We already have it for asian and CTL languages. It's clear that the feature is
also very useful for languages like russian or greek where the assigned keyboard
layout contains totally different characters and symbols than the english one.

This is different to some western languages like e.g. german. I for myself never
switch to an english keyboard to write english documents. The german keyboard is
well suited for them and switching it would just confuse my fingers.

So automatically switching the document language to "german" just because I have
the german keyboard layout would be annoying for me. Means: it must be possible
to turn this feature off.

The question is: what should be the default? Having a language specific default
for a configuration setting is something we should avoid so perhaps the default
should be "on" in all cases. I think the competition does the same.
