[l10n-issues] [Issue 81602] [VI] Characters not displa ying in Help 2.3
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=81602 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun Sep 16 06:02:34 + 2007 --- Pavel, your suggestion (3) is spot on. User 2 tried changing the font in the Help css file, resulting in this screenshot: http://picasaweb.google.com/cumeo89/OpenOffice/photo?authkey=U- Vfl94gTj0#5110470952788242450 You can see he is delighted about this. :) So the font Bitstream Vera Sans (NOT recommended for Vietnamese) is the culprit. If OpenOffice.org is going to set a font for Western languages, it should be a font that covers more of the Unicode range more effectively, like Deja Vu Sans. It covers a lot more than Bitstream Vera Sans. Also, the Deja Vu font project works actively and continually on improving its range, where Bitstream Vera is not, AFAIK, currently maintained. If we can choose fonts per language for Help, we can _ensure_ each language is displayed correctly. The FreeDesktop page I quoted could be used as a reference for this. So, how soon can we fix this font error? Looking at part 2 of my bug, I'll ask the user if changing the font affects that problem, as well. If not, then it is indeed a separate problem, and I will report it separately. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Thus the fix is to provide back fixes *.css files. They are in the source, so fixing them in the source is the right way to do so. See http://documentation.openoffice.org/source/browse/documentation/helpcontent2/source/auxiliary/ vi/ Please attach new .css files that work for you here and I'll commit them. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. I've added the fonts we need (which also cover a very wide range) to the beginning of the fonts listed. I haven't changed anything else, but I think the documentation team should really review this file: there have been quite a few improvements in Unicode fonts in the last couple of years. Gentium is one of those improvements: I've added GentiumAlt because it also supports a very wide character range, including our language. I wasn't sure if you meant edit the current CSS file or create a separate CSS file for Vietnamese: I've done the first. I can also do the second if it you like. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Unfortunately these images do not display in the auto-generated table of contents and what I get is extra blank space before the content line. MS Office does display the images in the table of contents correctly, which is the better solution, but at the very least I shouldn't get extra spaces for content that isn't being displayed. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [sc-issues] [Issue 3740] Named ranges in spreadsheet cannot be accessed from another one
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=3740 User discoleo changed the following: What|Old value |New value CC|''|'discoleo' --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun Sep 16 14:02:15 + 2007 --- IMPORTANCE OF THIS ISSUE There are situations when users need to access data inside a complex spreadsheet (e.g. a master spreadsheet stores uniquely some basic data, and multiple users in various departments need this data in their work). There are 2 ways to do this: * using DDE-links between the 2 spreadsheets * using a direct reference to the data inside one spreadsheet [aka writing a formula to reference this external data] [Please note that the first mechanism does NOT currently work in OOo IF the data range contains formulas! Therefore, users will be forced to use the 2nd mechanism.] Currently, OOo Calc users will need to reference directly the data inside the master-spreadsheet, because the external reference mechanism does NOT support *named ranges*. Why are *named ranges* such important? A.) CORRECT RANGE = Well, IF the user wrote the master-spreadsheet he may be able to recall in which rows/columns he did store the relevant data. BUT how well will he remember these design details in 2 weeks? And in 2 month? And what are the chances, that a different user will reference the correct range? B.) CHANGING RANGE == Another even worse problem arises when the initial data range changes: say, one has to add another data row, so *ALL END USERS* will have to correct their spreadsheets that link to this master-spreadsheet. This is a formidable task and one that generates numerous *hard-to-trace errors*. These are the main reasons, why it is desirable to link to a named range! To give some better perspective on this issue, lets consider by analogy the C++ classes: classes have both private and public methods. End users are however able to use only the public methods. These hide the implementation details of the private methods. IF something changes internally, the external user should not be affected. It is the same as the OOo UNO-copmonents. This is what named ranges are good for. I hope that my explanation will foster handling named ranges in the external reference code. added myself to cc - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. As described in issue 3740: Named ranges in one spreadsheet cannot be accessed from another spreadsheet. I can print documents i created before, and overwrite those documents and print successfully, but a new document, in default style, no longer and no longer exports to pdf. In export to pdf, the export is blank. So, cannot export to pdf and print, or print directly. I have tried to find differences in the default setting now, and old documents, and find none, except one - the status bar goes 100% INSRT STD HYP * - the * is not in my old documents, suggesting that some setting has changed. The inability to export to pdf is true of all documents now - the program will not export to pdf any file, even if they print. So, either some file has become corrupt, or microsoft has modified their code to prevent access to some necessary file. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [framework-issues] [Issue 81445] OOo_2.3.0rc2_20070905: Scr iptFramework.jar not available to extensions
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=81445 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun Sep 16 22:23:58 + 2007 --- @sb: Thank you for your answer. I went back and studied the ClassLoader and CLASSPATH infos again. - Re getContextClassLoader(): BSF is a Java library, which is written such that it can be deployed in any kind of environments (it got originally created to allow JSPs to employ scripting languages in a very easy manner). The BSF library should be deployable in any dispatch-kind environment (possibly supposed to use different configurations), even where it is a custom to set the thread's context ClassLoader accordingly. (AFAICT, the Thread's contextClassLoader has never been meant as a hack, e.g. cf. deployment techniques in J2EE.) The new behaviour of OOo 2.3 in loading Java components uses a customized ClassLoader (com.sun.star.lib.unoloader.UnoClassLoader, having Java's java.net.URLClassLoader as its parent), but OOo does not set the respective thread's contextClassLoader to its customized one. Therefore by default the Thread uses the System ClassLoader a.k.a. Application ClassLoader (AppClassLoader). The problem now: BSF retrieves the Thread's context ClassLoader (expected to be set by the invoking method), but it did not get set by OOo (to the used UNOClassLoader). The BSF needed configuration cannot be retrieved as a result. The question is, given that you judge context ClassLoaders as problematic (hack), whether one could count on it to be set by OOo in the next version nevertheless? - Re CLASSPATH: the CLASSPATH environment variable, if set, is honored by the System (Application) ClassLoader. Some java binaries allow for overriding the CLASSPATH environment variable by a switch like -cp resp. -classpath. Only in this case would a set CLASSPATH environment variable not be honored (but replaced). If OOo does not pass on the CLASSPATH environment variable's value at all, such that the Java System/Application ClassLoader cannot honor it, without any other expliticly defined CLASSPATH overrides, then I think it is an error and should be corrected for the OOo Java support as quickly as possible. [Also, how about defining an extension directory for OOo?] - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Testing method is entering field data in a form, using the save button on the form or on the main base window, creating a crash (from the forms record search dialog), checking if saved data is in the db ... it is not there. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=80368 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Mon Sep 17 02:01:05 + 2007 --- ause: Forget the testcase! Well, actually lets just use it for the moment, as it shows that dmake works better than I thought. For that testcase try: $ rm -f lev* ; touch lev3blah.txt $ ./dmake/dmake.exe -rf t_80368_4.mk That works, dmake uses the (second) path lev0blah.html - lev1blah.txt - lev2blah.txt - lev3blah.txt that builds lev0blah.html. So, what is the problem here? Why the ambiguity with: ../../unxlngi6/misc/UNX/README_en-US.html -- ../../unxlngi6/misc/readme_en-US.html or ../../unxlngi6/misc/readme_en-US.html.txt ? Because this is a real ambiguity! See the $(MISC)$/readme%.html : and $(MISC)$/readme%.txt : rules at the end of readlicense_oo\util\makefile.pmk Back to you ;) , this is really an ambiguity, the only dmake problem I see is that %-targets without prerequisites are not shown in the ambiguous inference chain output. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [tools-issues] [Issue 80144] dmake does not always choo se the shortes inference chain
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=80144 User vq changed the following: What|Old value |New value Status|REOPENED |RESOLVED Resolution| |FIXED --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Mon Sep 17 02:20:15 + 2007 --- I don't think that the problem with the %-targets without prerequisites will be solved within the dmake411 time frame. The dmake man page says the following about this: Whenever the inference algorithm determines that a target can be made from more than one prerequisite and the inference chains for the two methods are the same length the algorithm reports an ambiguity and prints the ambiguous inference chains. With this and the dmake code in mind it would be a significant change to add some special treatment for %-targets without prerequisites to use them only when no other inference chain is possible. This issue just fixes a bug in the current implementation and I think we can close this as fixed. If we want a special treatment for %-targets without prerequisites we need to define the exact semantics first, and we should do this in a new issue. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
