Cannot paste into a document longuer than 11 pages.

To reproduce:

- type a few letters without spaces
- mark this block and copy to clipboard
- paste this block as often as possible
- when the sequence get up to around 11 pages long, it's no longer possible to
paste texte into the document.

- to work around this limitation:
- one must erase a character than insert a space or an end of paragraph
- a new block of character may be inserted.

Build completed :-)

At the end, in the Bundle, I got:

install_dir/Contents/Library/Spotlight/OOoSpotlightImporter.mdimporter

Is it correct ?

(if needed, I can upload the .dmg somewhere ;-) )

When I select a .sxi ( or whatever for Impress) on the desktop, and hitting
Space , I got a QuickLook
effect, but not a preview.

Can you please tell me what could be the shortcut to be used for what you want

Is this because the path to your $TMP ($TEMP?) folder is longish? See issue

I don't know, I use my patch anyway...

Unfortunately even applying 82715 does not help the MacOSX problems, when using
without-stlport4.

1)
system python errors and stops the configure

2)
Things like zlib.h detection causes warnings not usually seen (this is not a
major issue)

...

The related nasty thing is that applying the patch from 82715 actually stops the
configure with configure: error: Your gcc STL headers are not visibility
safe.. Does that mean that somehow the gcc STL in Mac OS X is broken? I'm
currently using XCode 2.4.1, which means: gcc version 4.0.1 (Apple Computer,
Inc. build 5367)

Compare Documents Insert Panel Doesn't Close After Selection.

Insert Panel appears as normal for COMPARE DOCUMENT feature and will insert a

won't respond to clicks on either CANCEL or OPEN buttons and remains on the

If this code is important to you, then feel free to:
1) re-open cws wincairo01
2) copy all the code from cws cairoquartz01 to cws wincairo01
3) remove any macosx/quartz related code from cws wincairo01
4) get cws wincairo01 through all the OOo processes into the CVS.

The VCL part of Mac OS X port has been heart-transplanted recently (Carbon -
Cocoa) and as a fallout of that, the changes in cws macosxquicktime01 need to be

The VCL part of Mac OS X port has been heart-transplanted recently (Carbon -
Cocoa) and as a fallout of that, the changes in cws macosxquicktime01 need to be
integrated, before cairo canvas works on Mac OS X.

So integration of cws cairoquartz01 will happen after cws macosxquicktime01, but
naturally cairoquartz01 is being updated in parallel.

Re-opening for updates.

ericb: .sxi is the old ooo 1 presentation file format. Try one of the newer
opendocument presentations to
see if you get the same result. It could be that the plugin doesn't support the
older ooo 1 file formats. Do
we want to support these too?

During installation of OO 2.3, after first steps of unpacking, selection of
package, installation starts with message The program features You selected are
beeing installed.. Below says: Status: Removing applications and after two
thirds of process bar comes error message:
Error 1714.
The older version of OpenOffice.org 2.3 cannot be removed. Contact your
technical support group.

I've read another issue on subject 1714. The advice there tells to run MSI clear
setup utility. So I've run msicuu.exe. This presents a list to remove. But OO
2.3 is not in the list. And after all this didn't help either.

I'm so sad as wanted to migrate from OO2.2 to OO2.3. Doing this and with the
error the fact now is I have no OpenOffice at all...

Thanks for Your help in advance.
Regards
Heinrich

Abiword has a nice (though limited) workaround: on Ubuntu ae-* (Arabian) fonts
appear at the end of the list, maybe they use informations from the font to fit
to the current used encoding/locale.

An exhaustive design specification aiming at creating a nice font selection
widget/menu for all Open Source software (a must):
http://unifont.org/fontdialog/#theSolution
(and a criticism/analysis of current status:http://unifont.org/fontdialog/)

It could be good to inspire from this as every problem is tackled there. Linux
distributions are looking for a new font management system, and they may be
interested in working together with OO.o (eg need to achieve a system-wide menu
for fonts...). see for example Ubuntu: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FontManagement.

I am trying to do a 3d Deep plot, 30 rows and 30 columns Every time I change
one of the diagram properties it takes quite some time.

One thing I did to speed things up was to create the initial chart as 2x2, make
changes to the chart/diagram. Then called chart.SetRanges(RangeAddress()) with
correct range to create the chart. This make it bearable.

It seems that the chart is being re-drawn after each property change. It would
be nice to have a method/property called Refresh that would tell the object
not to redraw while making property changes.

I've also noticed that charts are updated when cell contents change, even if
auto-recalculate is turned off. I would expect that with auto-recalculate
turned off that nothing -- including charts -- would be updated until I manually
recalculate.

There is just an error in how the German language pack sets up the autocorrect
after it is installed. There is a workaround I found by going to
ToolsAutocorrectCustom Quotes and clicking on the default button for both the
single and double quotes. Of couse, you will have to set the default language
for this to work, but this is by no means something to be changed in future
versions. It allows one maximum flexibility with languages. I am using the
latest developer snapshot, as of yesterday, so I don't know if this workaround
works with the earlier versions.

Regina is correct saying that these problems are related to issue 5839 and issue
22271. The problem is as good as solved for me with the above workaround. But
let's see what othe users say.

The OpenOffice program works perfectly now. I think some of the developers think
that the ingle high-reversed-9 quotation mark is the one that should be used to
close the inverted commas, they are wrong though, basing their assumptions on
Microsoft Word's faulty handling of the quotations. Oh, Microsoft, are you
spreading disinformation again!?

IN FUTURE EDITIONS OF THE LANGUAGE PACK please leave the autocorrect corrections
default instead of changing them to match the German quotations. These are just
wrong.

Hello again,
might the error occur due to a security problem with REGISTRY updates by MSI?
Which keys are referenced?

I've checked whole registry, but there is no key or value OPENOFFICE in my
registry. There is no doubt about this.

Regards
Heinrich

Since release 2.3.0 of Writer, the behavior of inserting columns into a table is
changed.

If I insert a column into a existing table, all the column are resized. Before
2.3.0 only the column where I inserted the new column would be split in twice.

Steps to Reproduce:
-start Writer
-press CTRL-F12 to insert a table
-with, let's say, 5 columns and 2 rows
-click with the right-mouse-button on the first column
-choose 'Column' 'Insert...'
-choose one column

Actual results:
-all columns are resized

Expected results:
-only the selected column where the new column is inserted should be resized (as
in Writer versions before 2.3.0)

[porting-issues] [Issue 72150] configure: without-stlport 4 breaks configure, when using some with-syste m -flags

So, if you look at the config.log and search for the zlib.h test you'll see that
the preprocessor is run as

  -I/sw/include conftest.cc

not as
cc -E -I/sw/include conftest.cc

so the question is why have we lost the preprocessor variable, looking backwards
from there I see most interestingly that where we have AC_LANG_RESTORE in e.g.
the end of the ODK test ac_cpp='$CXXCPP ...' is substituted by autoconf not
ac_cpp=$CPP like I would have expected, going backup the doc I suspect that one
of the problems is that of the test $_os = SunOS; then AC_LANG_CPLUSPLUS; fi

I suspect that the natural assumption that the AC_LANG_CPLUSPLUS only affects
SunOS is incorrect and that autoconf pushes and pops with LANG_SAVE and
LANG_RESTORE according to the position of AC_LANG_CPLUSPLUS in the configure.in
script and the if/fi has no affect on that. i.e. from that point onwards the
language is considered to be c++ so we are SAVING and RESTORING c++ not c like
we thing. And it just so happens that we don't test for CXXCPP on Darwin so the
c++ CXXCPP is never set. So on the very next LANG_RESTORE the ac_cpp value is
set to the c++ cpp and from that point on all preprocesser tests that think they
are using the C preprocesser are using the C++ one, and that's empty on darwin.

And it does so happens that the system stl test has a restore, and it's the
first one before the zlib etc tests, but anything that did the restore would
have triggered the problem if there is a test that uses the preprocessor
afterwards.

I think we have multiple problems here, missing LANG_RESTORE in hunspell,
missing tests for CXXCPP on anything except Linux and BSD varients, and a
hangover from issue 445. I'll see if I can cook up something acceptable for all.

Use push and pop because people cut and paste, and if they miss it then push and
pop will hopefully cry if there's a mismatch.

Change the SunOS test to do what the comment says what it wants to do and
default to looking for CPP/CXXCPP except under windows.

Move all test that use the preprocessor after the CPP tests.

cmc-moz: so does it work :-)

If I type 4.1.1.1 followed by some text and then hit the return key, OOo
Writer changes the 4.1.1.1 to 4 and starts the next line with 5. It is
very unlikely that someone trying to create a numbered list in this form, would
begin with the number 4.1.1.1. Automatic changes in such instances as these
should be disabled (by default, if not permenantly).

Eg. there is some value in cell A1 and you want to move this value to some other
cell.

If you mark this single cell (A1) and try to move the value with the mouse to
another cell it is not possible. However, if you mark A1 together with some
other cell (at least 2 cells must be marked) and move it, it works as expected.

If you need any further information, i'll provide them for sure.

If you force recalculating with F9 the chart is updated and it will update
automatically if you change data afterwards.
If you do not use F9 at least one time, it is not updated.
I use SRC680m233.
(I do not find a duplicate.)

If the cell cursor (the black border around a cell) is moved to the cell, the
cell is not marked. A marked cell is entirely black. To mark a single cell use
ctrl-click or drag to the neighbor cell and back.

Math handling in Writer 2.3—efficiency of Math handling—went dramatically down.
I have a short two page document (it does not get any shorter than that!)
with Math sprinkled all over it (in-lined in sentences, as well
as stand-alone numbered equations via “fn+F3” combination) which Writer
is unable to process under Windows, any attempt to open any Math formula
results in 2 minute waiting time. Just mere open time is disastrous.
Under Linux Writer 2.3 performance also degraded (2.2 was noticeably better),
perhaps not so dramatically as under Windows, but I believe that Linux Writer
2.2 worked a lot faster.

Under Windows OpenOffice 2.3 Writer performance is a terrible show-stopper,
and must be addressed.
Writer in OpenOffice 2.2 was doing just fine handling Math,
which leads me to believe that it is indeed a bug—and not a particular XML
parser sluggishness.

Again, I would like to emphasize that the two page document has 60+ Math
formulae ranging from simple one-letter in-lined expression like “x”
(inside a sentence/paragraph) into much more complex ones occupying 5 lines of
so and numbered via fn+F3 (tables.)

Anti-aliasing of objects and fonts is the only issue that keeps me from adopting
Impress, and from recommending it to others. As another commenter said, it's a
critical issue for those who want to use if professionally.

Thanks for listening and for developing such excellent open source software.
It's really appreciated.

Hi,

in basegfx, there are several warnings on 64bit Linux with newer compilers:

/home/oo/BuildDir/ooo_SRC680_m234_src/basegfx/source/matrix/b2dhommatrix.cxx:240:
 warning:
'fCos' may be used uninitialized in this function
/home/oo/BuildDir/ooo_SRC680_m234_src/basegfx/source/matrix/b2dhommatrix.cxx:239:
 warning:
'fSin' may be used uninitialized in this function

The easiest fix here is:

-   double fSin;
-   double fCos;
+   double fSin = 0.0;
+   double fCos = 0.0;

because the compiler is not aware of the default, unreachable code.

OK? If so, pj87 is waiting for it ;-)

The attached patch fixes them all. Do you have a cws for them? If not, pj87 is

The Problen seems to be:
---
./readme.xrm:2: warning: failed to load external entity
../../../docs/readme.dtd
---
Please try do change the second line in .../docs/readme.xrm with:
!DOCTYPE Readme SYSTEM ../readme.dtd

It's the only thing I imagine of what could go wrong in finding the *.dtd file
(besides a faulty cvs-checkout).

Please report the result here.

cmc: YAY!

The using the preprocesser.patch on m233 configure.in works very nicely, thanks!

After that, I manually added the gcc visibility check (stlvisok stuff) and
that still fails :/ Although I'm starting to suspect that the check itself does
not work on Mac...

Good for this issue anyway. Now After that, I manually added the gcc
visibility check (stlvisok stuff) and that still fails :/

Please follow up to that problem in the other issue, as they are now clearly
unrelated issues. Attach the output of
echo #include string | gcc -x c++ -E -  /tmp/string.ii
I suspect that the test is simply correct and that the gcc 4.0.X headers are not
safe for use with visibility enabled, but your output will clarify if this is
the case.

oky doky, over to you rene

FWIW http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=19664 is what we're testing the
stl headers for to ensure that they are visibility safe. I'll put that into
the error message for your headers are not visibility safe

cmc:

I did the command
echo #include string | gcc -x c++ -E -  /tmp/string
as you instructed. That works.

Trying to guess what is needed to be found there, I grepped the /tmp/string with
visibility. That results in:
#pragma GCC visibility push(default)
#pragma GCC visibility pop

is that (default) thing the one that breaks the check? Or am I completely
lost?

It's worse. If I save an oo spreadsheet with charts that have custom minor
intervals and close it, then when you open it and double-click on the chart, the
settings for the minor interval are lost.
