@bulentozkir

Please look up issue #78749, issue #16032, and issue #43029 (depending if you
want already implemented OpenType processing enabled for latin/cyrillic
languages, want the full OpenType processing implemented for TTF fonts, or the
full OpenType processing implemented and the OTF format supported)

Yes, I know, you probably need all of those but they've been artificially split
by developpers when issue #16032 started attracting too much votes, limiting the
scope of the issue people had already massively voted on. So don't get into this
trap and do vote/comment on every single issue you care about.

@ osavill : in OOo language is an option of the font of a character. If you
choose a language in OOo options (tools options linguistic) it is only for
default formatting. It does not have effect on existing documents.
In OOo 2.4 spellchecker says that words in first paragraph are in Danish and
detect that it may be, in fact, in English.

I think this issue can be closed as worksforme.

I think there is at least one quite serious bug in this feature. The lost of
formatting (not just colors but italics and bolds) can't be undone. Only the
replace operation is undone, but formatting remains lost for good.

I think that any issue where user data are lost is quite serious and should be
treated with appropriate priority.

This bug assigned to me by an OO user and I don't have the bugdoc. However, the
phenomenon is not related to the specific doc and sometimes it occurs and
sometimes not.
I tend to agree with razvizara, that this phenomenon depends on OS space and is
not related to OO. - What do you think ?

@ pmike, all,
I've done some more checking on the macro - you wouldn't be happy with a formula
evaluating to zero, being replaced by 0, for example, I guess - and published it
as extension at the wiki:
http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/project/CT2N
Feedback welcome of course.

(This description has been moved from #85871 to this separate issue.)
The following problem has been found in the build “edgy-jdk-2474-notes2”.

If the user changes the status Edit File then the document view seems to be
resized. In some cases, the Notes will be positioned outside the Note Side Pane.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Create a new document and insert some text
2. Insert some Notes with some text
3. Save the document
4. Switch to Edit File status OFF (symbol next between Document as E-Mail
and Export Directly as PDF). The document is now read-only.
5. Switch to Edit File status ON

Expected result: Document is shown like after step 3
Current result: Document is editable again, but the Notes are moved a bit from
the Note Side Pane (please refer to the attached screenshot).

(After editing one of the Notes, all Notes are re-positioned and then behave as
expected.)

@mod: This wrong behavior is not affected by the visibility of the rulers.

There is a bug in the Outline Numbering Window. I can only reproduce it with a
given document, not from scratch.
Reproduction:
1. Open the attached document
2. Select Tools -- Outline Numbering
3. For Level 1 set the Paragraph Style to .Titulo 1
4. For Level 2 set the Paragraph Style to .Titulo 2
5. For Level 3 set the Paragraph Style to .Titulo 3
6. Click OK.
7. Save the document
8. Re-open the document.
9. Select Tools -- Outline Numbering
10. The styles for levels 1 to 3 were lost.

I solved the issue by linking styles .Titulo 1 to .Titulo 3 to Heading 1
to Heading 3 (using Linked With in the Organizer Tab of the Paragraph
Style window). When I do this, I first experience Issue # 79370 (I have to open
the Outline Numbering window twice to set the values), but then styles are
saved correctly with the document.

Looks like this issue also effects the mapping Alt and Command (Apple) in the
Mac OS X X11 build of OOH680_m6.

For me Command (Apple)+S works while Command+Shift+F for fett (bold) does not.
Same with the alt key. Alt+L for @ works while Alt+E for € won't.

This is a german Mac OS X build of OOH680_m6.

We're waiting for the integration of the fix to see if also fixes the Mac OS X
issues.

Hi everybody! Some comments on comments on notes...

@raindrops: Thank you for looking at the Notes2 wiki page [1] and providing your
feedback. In this comment I want to reply to your proposals and the discussion
in the wiki.

RAINDROP'S PROPOSALS

Some days ago I copied the requirements list to the wiki [2]. Two entries seem
to match your proposals (StR = Stakeholder Requirement; document content element
= text, graphics, frames, ...):

• StR17 The user requires, that he can use the document content element TBD to
refer to a Note.

• StR18 The user wishes, that a Note can be inserted without reference to a
document content element.

When we started working on this requirements list, we decided that for StR17 we
will use the current behavior and characters/strings. StR18 indeed has a very
low priority. -- Yes, that matches the current behavior of the large
competitor. :-)

~~~
Comment, raindrops, 2008-02-02, 13:45:
* Why not treat Acrobat as best-in-class?
Acrobat has some nice features for the Notes in PDFs. The Notes functionality
there serves different needs because PDFs are static documents. In Writer, the
document can be simply changed and these changes can also be commented (already
available for the tracking changes functionality).
So when we started working on our Notes, we looked on both Acrobat and also some
nice information at Adobe Design Center. We also have some ideas [3] of a simple
task management but that will need some more time.
* Clicking on the markup to open the launch the edit window
The basic idea is to show Notes the neighborhood of the text. If the Note is not
visible at the moment we will provide a kind of Note Preview which will provide
an option to edit the Note. Unfortunately this proposal is not yet in the Notes2
wiki, so please have a look at [4] instead.
~~~

Comment, raindrops, 2008-02-02, 17:49:

3: two non-adjacent sentences on the page

The current Notes system will not allow that. The user may just insert separate
Notes for that and refer to the respective other one. Therefore we provide the
time/date information in each note and - hopefully - will be able to introduce
hyperlinks for Notes (Please look on my comments in the Notes2 discussion
Complex Structures [5]).

4: several paragraphs put together

Why not? It should work, because several paragraphs are nothing different than a
large string.

5. An image (as a whole)

Yes, you're right. Something to think about further. In the meantime, the use
case mentioned by es (2008-02-02, 14:54) is fairly simple and works well. I'll
keep that in mind.

6. several specific parts of an image (each invoked a separate comment)

If your insert a fairly complex graphic which needs to be commented in such a
way, you may comment it in the program it was created in. For the Writer it
should be sufficient to provide information that there is something wrong.
Again, we will provide basic features (like enumerations and strike through)
which makes it possible to track several annotations for one object the Note
refers to.

~~~
Again, I'm very impressed that you discuss those issues in such a detail. That
helps everyone to check if we didn't forget something or that the current design
satisfies most user's needs. Please keep in mind that every feature we add may
lead to a more complex design (from both the user's point and the developer's
point of view), may have impact on the document format and will keep the
developers from working on more urgent problems.
THE WIKI
With reference to the wiki's discussion page: your comment is already there and
was the reason for my further research which made me look on that issue.
Alternatives to the issue tracker or the wiki are the mailing lists (e.g. dev or
ux-discuss) for future discussions.
I hope I didn't miss the point. Bye, Christoph
If undo doesn't work I'll take the liberty of calling it a defect.
I mean the formatting getting lost for good (replace not working as any user
will expect is perhaps still a feature but I hope you can fix both as a bug
now).
This is actually an issue that nullifies compatibility between Excel and OOo.
Fancy IF statements are required at present to ensure backwards compatibility.
The argument against a fix remains academic, but the solution ensures that a
formulae remains error free and can provide a solution even before all values
are populated.
The main frustration is compound MIN/MAX as the error is carried through.
viz: =MIN(MIN(A1:A4),MIN(A10:A14)); will error if A10:A14 is empty even if A1:A4
has a valid solution.
It seems to be an issue that can and has been resolved with Patches. Surely it
doesn't have to wait until version 3.0?
This bug and 71776 both confirm the need for a Fix.
I have used OOHm4 on WinXP and can confirm the problems.
The picture on page REGISTRACIJA has an original size of height:29.27cm
width:20.49cm
In Excel it has got the cropping settings:
left: 0.54cm right:0.42cm
and the scaling settings:
height 105% width:93%
This leads to an actual size of height:20.74cm and width:18.17cm
When opened in OOo the picture as got the same cropping settings, but the
scaling is different. height:107%, width:97%
This lead to an actual size of height:31.26cm width:18.92cm, which doesn't fit
on the DIN A4 page.
The other way round the scaling settings are altered too.
Added Picture to the summary to focus on the problem and make it better search
able.
Eveything shows up properly using my test document if I save the .odt document
into .doc and then convert to PDF (and thus there is likely nothing at all wrong
with the fonts on my computer), but it still doesn't work if I use OOo to make
the same conversion. I think the problem specifically has something to do with
Adobe PostScript fonts - they don't seem to be handled properly by the filter.
I admit this error is likely to be tricky to reproduce because you need to use
PostScript (.pfm, etc.) fonts in order to get it to show up. The font used in
the third attachment for this issue is simply standard TrueType or whatever and
not PostScript, but the second and first ones are.
This breaks the build when using the o3-build framework (iso with
scext has not been added to the OpenOffice2 alias.
This in turn breaks regular tinderbox clients, since the tag-list includes the
modules from the OpenOffice2 alias only. It has been added to all only.
lpsolve on the other hand, that was added in the very same cws has been added to
OpenOffice2 as well.
I have created a text document with several technical words not in the default
dictionary.  I created this for use in Microsoft Word and OpenOffice.org Writer
In Word, in the Spelling and Grammar options, there is a button named add and
clicking it allows me to browse to my text document (as a *.dic file) and add
all words in that text document to a new user-defined dictionary in one
operation.
In OpenOffice.org Writer, in the Writing Aids Options, there is no comparable
button.  The closest is New which allows me to create a new - blank -
user-defined dictionary.
A macro, http://www.ooomacros.org/user.php#114694, will then allow me to point
Writer to my text file and my new blank dictionary and add the terms from the
text file to the dictionary.
An Add button similar to the Word feature would be a big improvement.  A button
which allows me to navigate to a *.dic text file and add the entire file as a
new dictionary is the enhancement I am requesting.  This button could be in the
Writing Aids Options or in the Install New Dictionaries Wizard.
Thanks,
AA
[sc-issues] [Issue 72191] Need a UI to select which cell address convention to use
I strongly object to the names of the cell reference styles (Absolute,
Relative (R1C1), A1, Lotus) because they do not make the differences among
styles clear.  It is meaningless to describe styles as absolute or relative
(and hence the third sentence of the first paragraph of section 1 is wrong)
because an absolute or relative reference can be written in any of the styles
(e.g., $A$1, A1, R1C1, RC).  A1 and R1C1 are good; the names additionally
need to distinguish among the OOo, Excel, and Lotus variants of A1.  How about
OOo A1, Excel A1, Excel R1C1, and Lotus A1, along the lines of pmike's
suggestion?  Or the menu could give an example in each of the styles (like the
comments in enum Convention in source file sc/inc/address.hxx), followed by
(OOo), (Excel), or (Lotus) as appropriate; the full-generality examples
may be helpful to some users but overwhelm others.
Also, I suggest moving the choices into a submenu Format - Sheet - Cell
Reference Style so that it is clear to users what they are choosing.
This can be reproduced easily:
1. open new spreadsheet
2. Insert Numbers 1 ... 3 To 'A1' ... 'A3'
3. Mouseclick 'B4'
4. Press SUM icon beneath the Function Wizard icon
   =SUM() appears in the input pane
5. Drag mouse pointer (with pushed left mouse button) button from 'A1' to
   'A3'
   =SUM(A1:A3) appears in the input pane
6. Press Shift+F4
   Formula will toggle between several Absolute or relative versions:
   =SUM(A1:A3), =SUM($A$1:$A$3), ...
Now the same with the Function wizard
11. delete contents of 'B4', then click on 'B4'
12. Click on Function Wizard icon
wizard dialogue will appear
13. Select SUM by double click
14. Drag mouse pointer (with ushed left mouse button) button from 'A1' to
'A3'
=SUM(A1:A3) appears in the formula pane
15. Press Shift+F4
   expected: formula will toggle between several absolute or relative versions
   actual: nothing happens
User Experience Team might decide whether that feature really is importat. I
believe it would be useful to get a formula (or part of a formula) with absolute
references with a single key press. But because this can be reached for the
domplete formula after the Function Wizard has been closed (now you can toggle
with Shift+F4) I doubt that this is importat.
This issue might be related to Issue 23098?
Louis,
Our Product management has reviewed the current road map and have identified
that setting up an automatic response template to mail sent by nonsubscribers to
[EMAIL PROTECTED] would not be possible as of now. However, it would
be considered in the future releases as Discussion Services enhancement.
Thanks,
Harsha
Support Operations.
Please keep in mind that we need a new solution for the language selection at
office start. See issue 84319. So I don't think this should be a Mac solution
only.
