Many duplicates, many votes ... it would be very nice to have this fixed in OOo
3.0. I have lost master-design slides in some presentations because of this bug.
If you use OOo for Lectures this is a really time-consuming bug.

cd: Set correct target.

cd->mba: We decided to set me as the owner as there are two possible solutions
for the problem. I discussed the problem and possible solutions with sb.
1.) The extension must include the runtime libraries. That's something I have
to do.
2.) The Office installs the runtime libraries (assemblies) integrated into the
system so every extensions can use it.
As far as I know no decision has been made yet. If choose solution 1 the
sunsearch toolbar project must be changed. Decision 2 must be done by the
installation team.

I raise this for the User Experience team to review, as discussed with Eike and
Uwe.

Functions are allocated to categories in the Help and in the Function Wizard. I
am re-writing the Help in the Wiki:
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/How_Tos/Calc:_Functions_l
isted_by_category

and it is clear that the current categories need revision. For
example: 'Spreadsheet' does not describe the contents of that category; some
functions appear in different categories in the existing Help and the Function
Wizard.

There are two candidate models for categories:
Excel:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/excel/CH100645021033.aspx
ODFF (not yet stable):
http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/documents.php?wg_abbrev=office-formula

I prefer ODFF - with the functions listed on one page in the Wiki it's easy to
find what you want, whether or not you know the function name.

But this should be a formal decision. Would the User Experience team put this
on their list of things to look at please ?

Thank you

Impress pages that have postscript pictures inserted render slightly differently
in fullscreen presentation mode from what is seen while editing them. It
appears as though export to pdf gives the same output as is seen while editing.

I'll attach a sample document that has a postscript image inserted, and two
arrows drawn with Impress. Its very clear that the relative position of the
arrows is different when in presentation mode.

Copying instead of cutting seems to do what you want (you may also want to
delete A2). And it would be faster than setting an option, cut-n-paste and then
clear the option. Except in rare cases involving multiple displacement of cells,
I am not sure that it is really helpful to add another option (in fact, it is a
mode).

to see the problem: connect a1 and a2 into one cell. set cursor to this cell.
set cell to 1. Select cell again if not selected anymore. Drag the lower right
cross of the cell rectangle down to a4 to auto fill. The visible result will be
cell a1 displays 1. A3 displays 3 and a4 displays 4. If you disconnected a1 and
a2 you would see a1 displayed 1 and a2 displayed 2.So auto fill worked as if
there had been no connected cell.
Intuitively you would have expected two connected cells: a1 connected to a2 and
a3 connected to a4 where the first connected cell displays 1 and the second
displays 2. If you disconnect both cells you should get displayed a1 = 1, a2
emty, a3 = 2, a4 empty. No example provided/appended.
This might not exactly be a bug but to change it, would make it more intuitive
and make it a usefull feature.

[sw-issues] [Issue 86698] [Notes2] crash on double c lick in navigator

2008-03-05 Thread christophnoack
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue:

--- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed Mar 5 21:09:27 +

Concerning the behavior of: "jump to next/previous note (navigator,
keybindings)" and "go to note (double click in navigator)"...

Old behavior: We jumped to little yellow boxes and then opened the modal dialog
window. Now, we changed the overall presentation of the notes and use Note
Windows. The user perceives this visual presentation totally different,
therefore we should not stay consistent to the old OOo version - we should be
consistent to the new behavior. (Example: Even the old icons for Notes in Writer
visualize a small post-it like note. The user will definitively expect to jump
to the corresponding Note Window.)

The mentioned alternative (jump to note, insert new note to edit note) is one of
our major drawbacks. As discussed in the iTeam emails, the user will not even
know why "insert note" is an equivalent to "edit note". Here, the better way is
"jump to Note Window, leave it with ESC" (and: less keystrokes / mouse
movement).

There are some use cases where going to the Note Anchor makes sense, but with
the current functionality this is not yet required.

Max, do you think this is a matter of development time or the wrong behavior for
the user. If it is the latter one, then I think we should ask cj for help. If
there are more open questions, then we should continue this discussion to email
or to the wiki. What do you think?

I'm not sure whether this is a compiler related issue or not because it
obviously builds for Sun using their build setup, but module starmath fails to
build using gcc 4.2.3. Note that this built fine in m0. The following is the

axs makes an intersting observation that proves this is a bug:

>>> Fortunately I found that
>>> using the scroll wheel
>>> on the mouse did not
>>> produce that behaviour

The scrolling behavior can and should be the same, regardless of the input
device. Simply use the mouse-wheel code with the keyboard, or eliminate this
duality altogether by consolidating the scrolling routine.

Has this issue be resolved in OpenOffice?
I work for a medical journal where many authors submit manuscripts incorporate
Endnote/Reference Manager in their MSWord docs. When I open such files in
OpenOffice all the references at the end of the document as well as reference
numbers in the body of the text are missing. I would really like to use
OpenOffice to convert manuscript files into PDF using the facility available in
Writer (it's so much quicker than Adobe Acrobat!) but I can't rely on it if
these reference systems are not supported.
Hope somebody can help.

The most recent updated patch uses ScTabView::Unmark() instead of the (hackish)
addition of an IDF_SPECIAL_NOMARKAREA flag. It also allows TAB to move the
current cell if only a single cell was pasted (instead of TAB moving "between"
the cells of the pasted selection, which doesn't do anything as there's only one
cell in the selection).

how to reproduce:
qa/qatesttool/spreadsheet/update/c_updt2.res
just run the testcase tDataDataPilot
it fails with:
 Window nicht existent:Datenfeld 58871

Which is because the option button is seen as enabled for testtool;
It works correct, if the dialog is clicked on, before asking for button status.

Could you please verify the target milestone and at least leave a comment why
you have chosen this one?

Why is this assigned to Carsten? I assume it's an installation issues as there
are only two possible solutions:

- users must install the runtime themselves
- the extension must get a Windows installer that comes with it and installs it

If something else is possible or planned, please describe. Otherwise I would
expect that a better owner is chosen.

> the problem is that this works under EXCEL

Correct. The problem is that this works in Excel. Respectively sometimes
it does, and sometimes it gives unexpected results, depending on the
locale. For details see
http://qa.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=5658#desc110
and following.

> Is there not a possibility to let Oo check the format of the cell when
> there is an "IF" statement involved and if the format is explicitely
> set to a number format, then not convert to a text format ?

There is no conversion to text involved. The result of the formula
involving IF() _is_ text. That is what the formula is told to return.

The difference you see is caused by the different implementations of the system
file dialog. It's the dialog that adds the extension, not OOo. OOo shouldn't
change anything here as the file dialog already checked the existence of the
file based on the extension itself has added. If OOo changed the extension after
the dialog was closed, this could lead either to data loss or annoying wrong
overwrite warnings.

It seems that the dialogs on Windows XP and Vista behave differently here. It
seeems that the Vista dialog is wrong here.

The slide show starting at the wrong slide is basically the same problem as the
one described by issue 86727.

The crash is unrelated. It occurs only on Solaris.
It is caused by a wrong order of deleted objects whent the slide show is
stopped. The SfxViewFrame is deleted before the view shell is deleted and is
still referenced in the destructor of the later.
This deletion in wrong order is caused by the a potentially asynchronous
stopping of the slide show. The end() method of the slide show is called from
SlideShowImpl::endPresentationHdl, which in turn is called via PostUserEvent
from SlideShowImpl::endPresentation. On Windows (and apparently on Linux, too)
this all happens synchronously. On Solaris the user event is posted before
SfxViewFrame is deleted, but the user event is processed *after* that.

This is caused by not properly distinguishing between selection and current
slide in our application. Clicking on a slide makes this the current slide. As
a result it becomes the only selected slide. When there is only one slide then
this slide is always the current slide but is not always selected. During
recent changes I removed the explicit selection of the clicked slide. As a
result the slide is clicked on, it is already the current slide and nothing else
has to be done.

Fixed by reintroducing the explicit selection. This also fixed the traveling
via PageUp/PageDown.

In the current implementation of XSelectionSupplier, the registered
XSelectionChangeListener gets notified three times when the selection changes as
follows:

* select a tree list box item, lets say "Form1"
* then select another item, lets say "Form2", BUT without selecting the two
items

A registered XSelectionChangeListener will get the following 3 notifications:

* first: "Form1" is selected
* second: selection changed, but selection is NULL
* third: "Form2" is selected

The XSelectionChangeListener shouldn't get the second notification with a null
selection, only the first and the last one as this will reflect what the user is
actually doing in the user interface.

happen that  the com::sun::star::xml::dom::XNode::selectSingleNode
implementation in unoxml throws a runtime exception due to an error occuring in
libxml2.

This is most likely related to the libxml2 version used, not the fact that issue
86741 was witnessed on Mac (on Mac the system installed version of libxml2 is
used, which is not uncommon a compile option on Linux, too). Hence Platform/OS
is "All".

Please have a look what the actual error is and whether it is appropriate to
throw a RuntimException in this case or not.

If we want to have this, we should add
- an entry for the StartCenter to the QuickStart menu
- an option in tools->options->general to behave like other platforms when
closing the last document (namely replace the document by the
BackingWindow/StartCenter).

[sc-issues] [Issue 85305] Dynamically grow a filtere d range for autofilter, standard filter, and a dvanced filter

I've slightly changed the implementation. The new implementation does not
modify the original database range; instead, it tracks the dynamic end-row
position separately, and use it only for filtering operations. This way there
is less surprises since it will not alter named database ranges behind the
scenes.

If a cell is using the CELL("filename") function and the sheet is renamed, the
cell does not update to display the new name. Pressing F9 (recalculate) does
not update the cell, the only two ways I've found to update the cell is to
save/close/reopen the spreadsheet, or edit the cells formula (no change is
required, pressing F2, Left Arrow, Enter updates the Cell (F2, Enter doesn't))

To duplicate, start a new spreadsheet, set any cell to =CELL("filename") then
rename the current sheet (right click on tab and select "Rename Sheet...", or
use "Format|Sheet|Rename..." menu)

I've also tested this under Windows and get the same results.

Hi Yue,

Almost.. for the case svSingleRef the patch unconditionally casts pCell to
ScFornulaCell* to call pFCell->GetErrCode(). That would be illegal if the cell
wasn't of type ScFormulaCell. Obtain the cell type first using
pCell->GetCellType() and check for CELLTYPE_FORMULA and only if so do the cast
and obtain the error code.

I also would not extract the ifCOUNT case from the switch to introduce another
if(eFunc==ifCOUNT) but handle the formula cell case inside the
switch(eFunc){case ifCOUNT}, decrementing nCount again in case it was a formula
cell with error result. That would save one comparison for all other functions
not being ifCOUNT. Might sound like nitpicking but ... The error case is an
exceptional case, so generally nCount would only be incremented.

For the case svDoubleRef, as now ifCOUNT is handled explicitly in switch(eFunc),
the default case there can be removed, that only handled the then remaining
ifCOUNT case.

Thanks
  Eike

dragging/merging more than one floating window (ex: the stylist and the
navigator) into one single side bar is very hard to do. I actually thought,
until very recently, that it was not possible -- and I've been using openoffice
for 4 years!

The thing is, when you create the sidebar initially, it is easy because the
"target shadow" is very easily noticeable and hints you that a sidebar will be
created.

However, when you want to add another item in that same sidebar, the shadow
really is impossible to notice.

Take a look at this screencast, which will explain the problem much more
efficiently:
http://jeff.ecchi.ca/public/openoffice%20floating%20pane%20drag%20into%20sidebar.ogg

If possible, attach that file to this bug report as I cannot guarantee the
availability of my server. Oh, and you will likely have to pump out your volume
to the max to hear my voice.

I am connecting to a postgresql 8.1 database that uses free text fields for
schema names, table names and column names. I have noticed that OpenOffice.org
database behaves strangely when trying to access these objects. The problem is
when accessing a table where either the schema name or the table name contains
the slash character '/'.

The strange behaviour that I have identified so far:

   * In the tables tree listing these tables are shown with no icon (but the
schema has an icon)
   * When double-clicking on the table (to show the table contents) the
resulting window shows no columns and all actions are greyed-out.
   * The query designer shows no icon for the table and double clicking to add
the table to the query has no effect
   * When opening the report wizard a message "The field names from 'test/table'
could not be retrieved." is displayed.

Note that accessing the database using the psql tool seems to cope fine with
these tables and schema.

Tested on Win32, but may also affect other OSes.

You could install a langpack from one release version to a newer version, and
the installer doesn't complain nor warn the user about this incompatibility.

We, at the spanish community, have found that installing a new english version,
with an old langpack from previous versions is possible, but then, there are
major functionality problems with the suite, and the installer doesn't notify
that versions don't match.

We think the langpack installer must notify the user that release versions don't
match, and refuse to install.

cmc->abi: able to verify this change in
xmlhelp/source/com/sun/star/help/makefile.mk in cmcfixes43 ?

unless it has been fixed elsewhere already, but I can't see any indication of
that.

[util-issues] [Issue 86718] CWS sb83: MacOS X: Missing vcl resource.

The problem is that the used testtool (SRC680m243-based) sets the URE_BOOTSTRAP
environment variable to its own fundamentalrc (outside the tested sb83 DEV300m0
based OOo), so that the soffice.bin executed from testtool finds a bogus
URE_BOOTSTRAP environment variable and wants to use it.

sb->tbo: As discussed, worked around for now by letting testtool set
URE_BOOTSTRAP to a good value for the spawned soffice.bin. I will see if we can
get rid of using URE_BOOTSTRAP in the form of an environment variable post CWS
sb83.
