OSX comes with Python 2.5, while OOo/pyuno is currently using only 2.3. So
there's probably some compatibility issues.

Using system provided python (in OSX) is just fine, because that is what happens
on Linux distributions as well.

For cws python25 the progress is described in issue 71327. For cws details, see:
http://eis.services.openoffice.org/EIS2/cws.ShowCWS?Path=SRC680%2Fpython25

I found some suspicious code during update of TOC. I could imagine this causes
the trouble. Please check my attached patch of file doctxm.cxx in Writer core.
Does this solve the issue?

Draw's Line Style has "2 dots 1 dash" line but it doesn't have "1 dot 1 dash"

Please enable Draw to draw "1 dot 1 dash" line and add "1 dot 1 dash" to Line

Note:
Both mingliu.ttc and kaiu.ttf are core chinese fonts in Windows XP - Traditional

I have this problem also. Our office is still using Microsoft, but I tend to
use my personal computer for editing and creating forms, spreadsheets, and
documents. When I import the Word documents, I get stuck with the annoying
"input fields" which are not intuitive, and which also make it far more
difficult to edit a document. When I export these back to Word, the forms never
come out right, with text missing or improperly formatted. Can the interface be
changed to mimic Word? This is the only flaw I have run across since taking the
plunge and using OO.

Happy to be patient. Thanks for responding.

What do you mean by "there is a python25 cws in progress".

Does this mean that some time in the future OOo for the Mac will include Python
again or you will make it work with the native python. I think that even if it
does work with the native Python it would be good to include it like you used
otherwise there will be problems with different versions of OS X and if a user
updates their Python for some reason.

Also, are there any plans for a pyuno distribution that does not depend on the
whole of OOo?

Yes, Python comes with OS X but it does not work with pyuno and never has AFAIK
that's why Python used to be included in the OpenOffice 2.0 download. I think
that it would be risky to rely on the system python in case people upgrade it
too.

On the 3.0.0 Beta on OS X (Intel) build 9328 the Tools / Macros / Organize
Macros / Python... Dialog does not work - you can't add or run a Python macro.

If it works for you can you please tell us how to (a) run Python macros and (b)
use pyuno to automate OpenOffice.org. At the moment we are forced to use the
python that came with OOo 2.0 to run pyuno on the ICE project.

Here's what I get on X 10.5.

cd /Applications/OpenOffice.org.app/Contents/basis-link/program/

I recently discovered that if you set a bitmap background for a calc chart,
leave the chart in calc or paste it in other documents (writer or draw), then
export as pdf, the bitmap background of the chart is completely lost: in the pdf
file your chart will have a transparent background (or a white background, I
tried it on white paper so I cannot tell).
The workaround is to paste the bitmap in draw together with the chart, put one
above the other, group the two objects and used them together.

There is an apparent glitch in the Data Sources view. Please follow these
instructions: [1] Create a spreadsheet with data in it. [2] Register the
spreadsheet as a Data Source in Open Office. [3] Open the Data Sources view
(F4). The glitch is as follows: If any of the cells in row 2 in the spreadsheet
contain numerical values (numbers), the text entries in all the cells in the
column below the numerical value will NOT be displayed in the Data Sources view
(even though the spreadsheet contains the data). However, numbers will not be
affected in the column. Also, if any of the cells in row 2 in the spreadsheet
contain dates, the text entries in all the cells in the column below the date
entry will NOT be displayed AND any numerical values will be changed to a date.

Universal scroll puts a diamond-shaped marker on the screen, and scrolls
according to the mouse (trackball) motion, until canceled. I activate it by
selecting that option for one of the small buttons on my Logitech trackball.

IIRC, this worked fine under WXP, but I get no response (pointer doesn't change)
under Vista SP1 in OO.o programs. Works fine in Firefox 3.0.1.

The rpm package openoffice.org-mandriva-menus-2.4-9268 contains several errors,
leading to a deficient gnome desktop integration :
- the executable script /usr/bin/openoffice.org2.4 tries to launch
  /etc/openoffice.org2.4/program/soffice
  instead of
  /opt/openoffice.org2.4/program/soffice
- in the same spirit, symbolic links in /usr/share/applications, that is,
  all the links named
  openoffice.org2.4-*
point to the wrong location (/etc/openoffice.org2.4/... instead of
  /opt/openoffice.org2.4/...)

manual corrections lead to a fully functionnal gnome desktop integration.

Note : sorry if the selected subcomponent for the issue submission is not
correct, I didn't manage to choose the right one).

@ama: this smells for me a race condition somewhere. That would explain the
impossibility to reproduce it always for sure on my side and the difference of
behaviour of debug/non-debug builds inside my gdb.
I am also trying helgrind tool in valgrind to see whether it tells us something
useful.

Hello,

I am writing an engineering technical report using OOo 2.4.1 as a trial to see
how it performs for this task. I am a regular user of LaTeX and have also used
MS Office for similar purposes.

I have noticed that to cross reference a heading, I first have to select that
heading and then Insert Crossreference->Set Reference and give the newly set
reference a name. This itself appears to be not quite intuitive. IMHO, how does
a user know to use Insert a Cross reference menu item to just set a reference?
Perhaps there should be a Insert->Set Reference Mark item? In any case, this can
 and should be improved.

Next, the interface to actually insert a cross reference to a heading is
also weird. To do so, I position my cursor in the text where I want the
cross reference, do Insert -> Cross Reference (this appears sensible)
and then select "Insert Reference"(which is also sensible). However,
exactly what value to insert is not clear. I want the heading number.
But there is no choice to do so. Only selecting "Chapter" works. That doesn't
make any sense; I do not have any chapters in my report at all!

On a related note, just as Tables and Figures are automatically listed in Insert
-> Cross reference dialog, why are headings also not listed? If a user is using
numbered heading, it is quite likely that the author will also cross reference
them at some places. So if a user is numbering the headings, those headings
should automatically be listed in the Insert -> Cross Reference dialog box.

If I am missing something and the above procedure is more intuitive than
I have experience, please feel free to correct me.

Just a little feedback with the aim of helping improve OOo to a high
grade document processing application.

Regards.
->HS

I really really fail to see the justification for the "*OF COURSE*" part. I'll
accept the need for --with-system-apache-commons in addition to specifying the
locations of each JAR as a work-around, but you've got to admit, it is
redundant... *ESPECIALLY* considering the fact, that I did say
--with-system-/everything/ already...

When printing, "empty" text placeholders come out blank or are printed
according to settings in Tools/Options/Openoffice.org Writer/Print.

When I create a PDF, either by File > Send to > Send as PDF or by exporting
empty placeholders are *always* printed with the predefined placeholder text,
independent of the settings above.

I create templates with several placeholders, and often not all placeholders are
filled out. I see no reason why these empty placeholders should be included in
the PDF, they simply appear with their "dummy text" in a different colour.

This ruins the option to email the document as a PDF unless the user clicks on
every single placeholder and remove them.

The File > Send to > Send as PDF is a huge selling point for OpenOffice.org, and
I feel that PDF export should act according to the print settings above, or at
least not include empty placeholders.

If the cursor is at the last word of a paragraph, then Ctrl-Right moves the
cursor to the first word of the next paragraph. Similar with Shift+Ctrl+R. This
is formally correct but different from the earlier behavior (e.g. OOo-2), which
I found *much* more intuitive.
One is usually writing at the end of a paragraph and will very often have to
change the last word. But now Shift+Ctrl+R selects too much, and writing
continues with the next paragraph joined, etc.

A fix has to get rid of
   *this = rSrcPage;
in the copy constructor of SdrPage. Maybe the copy constructor can be replaced
by a Clone() method. Maybe the assignment operator has to be called in a save
way.

[sw-issues] [Issue 93151] word count not working

Specific example:
whole doc lists char total as 31438, word count as 116.

One paragraph selection: char count: 395, word count 2.

Two and a half page selection: char count: 6589; word count: 12.

Since you're using a German localization, maybe the problem is just in the
English or US version? Either way, it's not working for me.

I'll try to install the current build when I have a bit of time and see if that
changes anything.

[graphics-issues] [Issue 93186] Impress slide not saved co rrectly

The root cause of this issue is that for the second, copied slide the wrong UNO
API wrapper is created. Here is how this happens but beware, this is not for
the faint of heart.

The copy constructor of the SdrPage class contains the line

*this = rSrcPage;

which calls the assignment operator at a time when the new object is not yet
fully initialized. Especially the virtual function table is not yet properly
set up because the constructor of the derived class (SdPage) is yet to be
called. Ugly as this is, it gets really bad when the assignment operator
eventually triggers a call to createUnoPage().

Because the SdPage constructor has not yet been executed and the vtable is not
yet in its final state, the virtual createUnoPage() method is called at the
wrong class. Instead of SdPage it is called at SdrPage. As a result an
instance of SvxFmDrawPage is created, not SdDrawPage().

This wrong wrapper is then used when the document is saved. Many Impress
specific properties are not saved and when the document is loaded again the page
with the wrong UNO wrapper looks different.

The line
 *this = rSrcPage;
is present since 2004 and one might think that this should have lead to problems
earlier. Well, before a recent change the UNO wrappers have been volatile
objects that were disposed when not used. Therefore the wrappers have been
created with the wrong class all along but did not live long enough to cause any
real harm. Only since a recent change the wrappers are kept alive as long as
the SdrPage/SdPage objects. So now the wrong wrappers are not disposed and
cause this and maybe other problems.

JDK 1.5 is able to build stax from source. JDK 1.4 is now...

Also note that stax is needed to build the internal saxon that is needed to
build filters, ...

As discussed on irc, it was missunderstanding. Rene though that I was adding
support for the system stax...

After all the patch might be acceptable. Well, I could do check for system saxon
if required.

SBA: I can not reproduce this in OOO300_m3 (current build, next will be RC1).
Set to "worksforme".

SBA->quixote9: Can you reproduce in current build? If so, please attach a bugdoc
or a precise (but short :-) description how to reproduce.

Yes, there are other open word count issues (just make a query for open isues
with the string "word count" in the summary. For example...
issue 88510
issue 88902
issue 80815
issue 89041
issue 89040
issue 88902

Maybe your scenario matches one of those? I can not tell because your decription
is too vague yet.

Please comment, thank you.

Text boxes created in Impress lose their "Fit height to text" setting when saved
as PowerPoint, but custom shapes retain the setting as expected.

To reproduce:

1. Create a text box and enter some text. By default, the Format > Text... >
"Fit height to text" option is checked and the "Fit width to text" option is
unchecked.
2. Create a custom shape from the Drawing toolbar. Click on the Basic Shape
button and select a Rectangle from the menu. (Don't use the rectangle button.
That creates a different type of shape.) Create a box and enter some text.
3. Select Format > Text... Then check both the "Word wrap text in shape" and the
"Resize shape to fit text" options.
4. Save as PowerPoint.
5. Open in Microsoft PowerPoint 2003 or 2007.
6. Select text box.
7. Select Format > Text Box. In the Format Text Box dialog on the Text Box tab,
the "Resize Autoshape to fit text" option is unchecked but should be checked.
8. Select the custom shape.
9. Select Format > Text Box. In the Format Autoshape dialog on the Text Box tab,
the "Resize Autoshape to fit text" option is checked as expected.

I've attached a demo ODP file and the exported PPT file, along with some screen
shots.

The custom shape is a draw:custom-shape object in the XML. During export, a
draw:custom-shape seems to be translated to a PowerPoint Autoshape rather than a
PowerPoint Text Box. The two objects can be differentiated in PowerPoint by the
name of the Format dialog box.

The underlying style attributes for the text box (a draw:frame object containing
a draw:text-box) and the custom shape (a draw:custom-shape object) are
identical. Plus the two objects have identical fitting options in the Impress
UI. (Some aren't editable by the user depending on the object type). But the
text box loses its fitting option during export and the shape doesn't.

As an aside, text boxes first created in PowerPoint retain the fitting option in
Impress, because PowerPoint text boxes are imported as custom shapes instead of
true text boxes.

Fixing this would greatly improve workflows where presentations are authored in
Impress but later edited in PowerPoint.

mav->kandy: The reported by you problem ( open a document, save it, save it
second time => error ) that I have fixed before the resync is not reproducible
by me after the resync.
The only problematic scenario I found currently is when a new document is stored
to webdav. This problem should be fixed in mav37 cws ( should be integrated in
the next milestone of DEV300 branch ). If you know any other problematic
scenarios please explain them in details.

I think it makes sense to resync the cws one more time after integration of
mav37, since the changes from mav37 affect the storing process.

The content.xml in the new document created in step 3 has a seemingly broken tag
for the second slide. The tag of the second slide does not have any
attributes, unlike the tag of the first slide.

we have to reduce the information in the confirming mail somehow to a shortend
id only and a thank you message only and than just do compare all information we
got in the backend with other crash reports we got to create task for issues
automatically based by frequency of occurrence. This is just not an echo
service, only. No seriously, If you think you must provide more information to a
crash than you originally gave in the description you entered via the crash
reporting tool the only think you can currently do is to wait for the reply mail
and than add the crash report id to an existing or new issuezilla task. Or you
can just wait until the automatic compare mechanism automatically creates an
internal task in a non public bug tracking system of the creator of your
OpenOffice.org or StarOffice product because it has detected that there may be
similar problems from other users. Privacy policy usually prohibits putting the
information we got via the crash reporting tool online automatically.

1. Load attached Impress document.
2. Copy slide by Ctrl-C then Ctrl-V in slide sorter bar.

Copied slide looks exactly like the original. As they should.

3. Save, close, load again.

Bug: Now the two slides look differently.

[www-issues] Re: [Issue 92991] External JARs ignored by swext/mediawiki build

2008-08-27 Thread Mikhail Teterin

Rene Engelhard написав(ла):

And btw, why do you mix them at all? Why not simply do --with-system-lucene
(implied by system-libs so you can skip it, yes) and add
--with-lucene-core-jar=... --with-lucene-analyzers-jar=... etc. For every jar,
there's also a option
like this.

I did not know, there is an option for each JAR. These aren't exactly
documented. I just saw (in config.log), that a number of environment
variables are consulted and set them to the values applicable to a *BSD
system (where third-party stuff is never under /usr, but under a
separate prefix, such as /usr/local or /opt). This -- using environment
variables -- worked for most of the JARs, but not for the apache-common
ones. The discrepancy prompted me to file the bug report.

Additional information: On Linux the __basic_tmp trick seems to work
only if __basic_tmp is *not* empty, so please copy any file there.

I downloaded 3.0 beta BEB300m3, build 9328 and retested. The behavior remains.
The field with a large text document is rendered differently.

Using a large chunk of lorem ipsum text with 200 lines and 63412 characters I
created a database with two fields: recnum and desc. I added '-30-' to the end
of the text so I could verify that all of the text is being displayed.

I created a document, and inserted the record as fields. Only the -30- is
displayed. Inserting as text or table works correctly.

Generated PDF using the 'Export Directly to PDF' option. Only the recnum field
was output with the rest of the first page left blank.

Printed to a postscript file. Only the first line of the field and the -30- tag
are rendered. However, the rest of the document is generated correctly.

Selected the fields and changed the font size to 9. Entire field is now
rendered correctly.

Using print preview also will render the big text field differently. Some times
it showed the first line only, sometimes it should nothing.

ab->jsk: Concerning the automatic tests I think it's enough to run
the minimum set as only code is affected that refers to the Basic
user data migration. This code is not executed at all as long as
no __basic_80 folder exists in $(UserInst)/user/

This issue cannot be tested without some tricks as the fix should
only handle situations that normally don't occur anyway. But it's
not necessary to test the complete migration process as the fix
only affects the Basic part that is triggered by the existance of
the $(UserInst)/user/__basic_80 folder.

So to test the non-error scenario install a cws ab62 Office and
start it to get a User Installation. Disable the quickstarter.
Then copy a basic folder taken from an older installation to the
User installation using the name _basic_80 (I've copied you a
sample containing a Standard and a Library1 lib to x:\jsk\ab62).
Now when restarting the Office and triggering Basic (e.g. by
creating a new writer doc or by directly starting swriter.exe
instead of soffice.exe) the migration should be performed. Libra-
ry1 should be imported and __basic_80 should be deleted.

To simulate the error scenario copy _basic_80 another time and
create an additional __basic_tmp folder. Now the migration will
fail, because __basic_tmp (that is used internally) exists.
This will force an Exception and allows you to test the clean up
mechanism that tries to rename _basic_80 to _basic_80_err to
at least keep the old macros even if the migration fails. So
afterwards __basic_tmp and _basic_80_err will still be in the
user inst folder, but after starting swriter.exe the Office
should start anyway.

ab->mh: Could you please also test ab62 on your "magic" ;-)
notebook? If you don't have an old installation any more that
forces the migration please also copy x:\jsk\ab62\__basic_80
to your user installation.
