Hello jagadish659, *,
as you (or someone else) have not answered to my question from last Sunday, I
close this issue as fixed. If you think this issue is not fixed, please feel
free to reopen it again (but give us a little bit more info about your system
and maybe provide a screenshot of the missing icon, please ... ;) ).
I forgot to mention, that I used the Germanophone version of RC3 (now RC4, where
the icon is still available ... ;) ).

I updated from 2.4.1 to OOO300m9.
In 2.4.1 there was an extension with contextual help.
In OOO300m9 the extension still works, the help may be displayed from the index
pane,
but the contextual help does not work.

In OOO300m9 I installed another extension, same problem.

The above attachment creates a simple extension. Use it with english UI.
After OOo restart you can see a new node in the help tree : How to write a
help.

On a new Writer document you see a new toolbar Test of the help.
Click on the heart button, it starts a dialog from Basic library basTest4.
The
contextual help is defined in this dialog but when you hit F1 the help page is
not
found.

Hello regina, *,
I can confirm, that most of your reported wrong translations are corrected in
the meantime (I have tested it with the Germanophone version of OOo 3.0 RC4
under Debian SID/Experimental AMD64). The only remaining par_id is
par_id3151115, which is now translated as follows:
quote
DatasetLength: Legt die Länge der Datensätze für Dateien mit wahlfreiem Zugriff
fest.
/quote

As pootle does not contain /text/sbasic/shared/03020103.xhp (only ...01.po and
...02.po for whatever reason), I cannot check the English help atm, sorry ... :(

Hello @ll,
as gghh mentioned, the sentence

wrong: Benutzen Durchsuchen, um eine Datenbank auszuwählen.

should be changed to

right: Benutzen Sie Durchsuchen, um eine Datenbank auszuwählen.

And also - reported by gghh - the last sentence in the dialog is wrong. On my
system (Debian SID/Experimental AMD64 with the Germanophone version of OOo 3.0
RC4) it says

wrong: Am Dokumente gesetzte Datenbank: Adresses

where you cannot see the whole k in Datenbank. It should also say something
like

right: Im Dokument benutzte Datenbank: Adressen

in this case. I will as well attach a screenshot from my system afterwards. In
the meantime I reopen this issues, as it is - IMHO - not fixed. If I am wrong
here, sorry for the inconvenience.
Thomas.

I check OO 3.0rc4 for this bug. Bug still exists. So, changing Vesion field
from BEA300m2 to OOo 3.0 RC4.

The bug is not only with opening documents, but also with saving documents.
Lets do the next (locale ru_RU.utf8).
1. Save document as 123абв456.odt and do not close Writer.
2. See at window title. There will correct 123абв456.odt in it.
3. Close Writer.
4. See at filesystem. There will be incorrect 123???456.odt in it.
5. Open 123???456.odt from filesystem. Writer will open it.
6. See at window title. There will be incorrect 123???456.odt in it.
7. Close Writer.
8. Rename 123???456.odt to 123абв456.odt at filesystem.
9. try to open 123абв456.odt from filesystem. Writer will not open it.

P.S. Is there any problems with cyrillic letters in this Bugzilla?
What do you see here: АБВГДЕЁЖЗ or garbage?

I checked with Ooo 3.0.0 RC3 Multilingual version German UI WIN XP: [OOO300m8
(Build9357)] and can confirm the reported effect with FilterWithRowAbove.ods.
I found similar behaviour with an own new document.

Steps to reproduce:
1. open new dochment.
2. Inserte column A following instructions Case 1 in report, starting in
   Cell A2
3. Inserte column B following instructions Case 1 in report, starting in
   Cell B2
4. Clik on A2: drag mouse pointer to B5 (to highlight A2:B5
5. Menu 'Data - Filter - Autofilter'
   Autofilter appears as expected
6. Click into 'A1'
7. Click filter button in B2
8. Standard filter, 'Value - empty - ok
   al works as expected
9. Menu 'Data - Filter - Remove filter'
All lines will eb shown as expected, data area will be highlighted.
10. Redo from 6 several times, you will get always the same result

Now stop in Step 8

11. Menu Data - Filter - Auto filter
Autofilter will be removed as expected
12. Type word text into 'A1' , enter and click into A1
13. Redo from step 4!
As soon as you click Standard Filter in step 8, the auto filter buttons
will disappear, and the highlighted area will be 'A1:B5'

Not a big problem because you can solve it by defining a data area A2:B5
(containing column headings), but that problem does not appear with 2.4.1, and
unexpected, because filter works fine with empty row 1

Enter text in callout with invisible background, is impossible in Writer

Writer document
Tooblar Drawing
Select one callout and drag it in the document
On the formatting toolbar, select background invisible
Now try to enter text in the callout, or try F2
   text cannot be entered.

No problem when there is a background color.
Also no problem if there is text first, and then the backgroud set to invisible.

Problem not found in Draw, but also in 2.4.1
Found in Linux and Windows version.

seconds to do a cold start on my laptop. OpenOffice 2.4 only takes 10, so this
is a significant increase. Neither time measurement was done while using the
quickstarter.

(@hagar_de_lest: You are right - thank you. Its a duplicate of Issue 40233 )

A last note from me in this Issue:
I am unhappy that Issue 40233 seems to be ignored since 4 years, and that it
gets suggestions like 'change documentation to change bug to a wanted feature'.

For me, this defect makes OO-writer unhandy. It is important for me to create
documents into its different final storage places in folder trees, drives and
over the network. I do not have the time to search the path for each document in
save as dialog. (Try it for more than 10 documents and you get nerved).

On my WV system under all V3 levels, this happens with any master document I
open.

1) Open a master doc with at least one sub-document. (Be sure to update all
links, if asked; otherwise the sub-doc text may not be displayed.)
Observe that the status bar Combined Display field (long rectangle on the
right-hand end) is blank, and properly positioned.

2) Click in the displayed text of the sub-doc. This displays the sub-doc name
in the Combined Display field, but now that field is redrawn wider, and overlaps
the View Layout icons, partially or completely.

Workaround: minimize and re-maximize the window (click on Windows [-] icon,
click on Windows task-bar icon). When the window is redrawn, the field,
complete with name, is back to its proper size.

Hello,

I was the reporter of this bug and just tried to reproduce this in OOo 3.0.

The issue seems to be fixed.

Can someone else try this and set this to resolved?

Just reproduced this bug with OOo 3.0.

The annoying thing is, that it is not really possible to change a thing in the
picture submenu, when a frame (caption) is used.

In the first two tabs (when ok is pressed and the frame has been resized some
time before) each time the picture is resized (out of the frame).

Could this issue be adressed in OOo 3.0.1 so that documents with picture and
captions are possible in OOo?

Seems to be a blocker for 3.0.1 for me.

This issue:

- causes data loss
- has many duplicates
- has 25 votes
- and is still treated as a P3 bug?

I think this issue has to be adressed as soon as possible.

Many new users will probably try OpenOffice.org 3.0 and if this data loss
happens, they will loose their trust in an alterative Office Suite.

Seems to be a blocker for 3.0.1 for me.

open Open Office Writer. Create new document (ctrl+N), start wright Arabic
words
fill Four or Five lines.
Select all text (Ctrl+A) open the fonts menu in the tool par and Select
Traditional Arabic. Again in the tool par open the Font Sizes menu and select
26 as example. And then set the alignment of the text to Justify (Ctrl+J).

It will be justified but some words will be broken. You will find gap between
character and next one to it while it should be joined\contacted.

That appear for me in Traditional Arabic font only.

That's it

Steps to reproduce:
1) create a new presentation
2) click on Slide Design icon
3) click on Load button: a named Load Slide Design window pops up
4) click on More button then check Preview
5) single-click on any Presentation or Presentation background templates:
preview doesn't appear. -KO
6) uncheck and recheck the checkbox Preview: the preview now comes.
7) retry to select another presentation or background: no update of the preview
-KO

So the preview mechanism works but is not linked to the event selecting a
presentation or a background.

Tested by qa french team on:
- Linux X64 rc3, confirmed on rc4
- Linux 32 rc3, confirmed on rc4
- Windows 32 rc3, confirmed on rc4

Hello,

Copy and Paste of text in OpenOffice.org Impress 3.0 is broken.

Reproduction:
1. Create a new (empty) Presentation.
2. Select a layout for the slide which contains a title and an itemized list
(this is the normal standard layout which you would use throughout a
presentation).
3. Go to the itemized list field and create an item by typing some text and
pressing enter.
4. Now create a subitem by pressing Tab in the second line and typing some
text followed by Enter.line.
5. Create another two subitems.
6. Mark the text of a subitem and copy it by pressing CTRL+C.
7. Create a new Subitem and paste the text by pressing Ctrl+V.

Now you should see that the formatting of the text is broken. The font size is
wrong.

In my opinion this is a P2 bug which should be definitely fixed in OOo 3.0.1.

It should be marked as a stopper for 3.0.1.

Service com.sun.star.util.PathSubstitution says :

$(vlang)
The language used by the Office as a string. Like german for a german Office.

This was still valid for OOo 1.1.5.
Since at least version 2.3.1, this variable returns a string containing the
codes ISO
639 and ISO 3166 of the User Interface language.
For example
instead of french it is now fr
instead of english it is now en-US

The IDL documentation should reflect the current values.
The Developer's guide should also be modified, see page
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/DevGuide/OfficeDev/

Still present in OOo 3.0 (final) on Mac OS X. It's pitty that the problem is

Although this issue in no way affects the functionality of OpenOffice, as small
form factor laptops become more popular with vertical screen resolutions of as
little as 480 pixels, wasting 10 of them on a superfluous scrollbar seems folly
indeed.

sorry I couldn't find the appropriate component.

Please allow individual icons for each application to be placed on the dock. Or
better yet, customizable install. Most users will not use all applications and
it just adds complexity.

For my friends/family I'd only put an icon for Writer and Calc. If you have
usage feedback that has to be 90% of frequently used applications

Even if you are editing a document, shouldn't single-clicking the openoffice.org
icon in the dock open the create document type of... by default? I would
offer this is expected behavior. Holding down the mouse button still shows the
menu and allows you to switch open documents.

Only the fontnames are visible in list.
The TrueType/OpenType fonts are shown as fontsname and preview.

hello,
OOO-2.4.1 doesn't work on armv4 on debian because the build scripts from OOO
contains CFLAGS+=-march=armv5te
here's the result:
debian-gta02:/usr/lib/openoffice/program# ./soffice.bin
Illegal instruction

gdb gives:
(gdb) x/4i $pc-4
0x41ad3370 _GLOBAL__I_methods1.cxx+236: mov r3, #7 ; 0x7
0x41ad3374 _GLOBAL__I_methods1.cxx+240: strdr4, [r1, #128]
0x41ad3378 _GLOBAL__I_methods1.cxx+244: str r3, [r1, #144]
0x41ad337c _GLOBAL__I_methods1.cxx+248: ldr r3, [r11, #-56]
here the illegal instruction is strd:
in page 349 of http://www.arm.com/miscPDFs/14128.pdf it's said that the
instruction was implemented in ARMv5TE and above, excluding ARMv5TExP.

I was helped by _rene_ who told me that the build scripts contained
CFLAGS+=-march=armv5te
(and i was also helped by another guy from the debian community for gdb)

Why I ran openoffice on armv4:
I wanted to see how usable was openoffice on the freerunner(the openmoko
free/open phone)...

Cut and paste from/into fields of tables or queries doesn't work correctly some
times. You can verify this problem by KLIPPER (clip board?).
If I copy an entry of a field to put it into another field I get the first entry
of KLIPPER, for example a word copied in Firefox minutes ago, but not the
expected expression I copied just before.

Having multiple Documents open, switching document windows through Key [cmd]-[]
doesn't work, if a toolbar window is open.

For example, I have a document where I have selected a line with a bullet. The
Bullets and Numbering toolbar window is open, so switching to another document
window doesn't work. If I close the toolbar window, it works. Unfortunately, if
I switch to the first document window, the Bullets and Numbering toolbar
window opens again...

I have registered just to vote for this. I'm unable to migrate to OpenOffice
until this issue is resolved. It's really a deal breaker for me (and also for
all of my work colleagues). We do a lot of typing and almost never use the
mouse. Proper keyboard scrolling is a must for our type of work.

OK, I am using the new Mac keyboard (aluminum with white keys) so this might
be different than it should be (because the labels on some of the keys don't
match what they say they're supposed to do). If I press Control + Home or
Control + End then the cursor moves to the start or the end of the cell. I like
how it works in NeoOffice where it's just Home or End without any additional
keys.

Is there a specification for sorting with Calc? Can someone point me to it? If
there is no specification, may I suggest to create one before coding?

For automatic recognition of title lines I would suggest to compare the
data types between first row (text in every column) and the following rows (not
text at least in one column). If all cells of the list, header and data rows,
contain nothing but text, Calc should recognize different formatting in the
first row.

@cbolin

Please have a look at:
http://eric.bachard.free.fr/mac/aquavcl/separated_applications/dev300_m2_or_superior_only/

I provided both fr and en-US instructions for the installation.

 = * BUT *

Since the crash reporter modified the OpenOffice.org binary name is the
official builds ( :-/ ) , you need
to modify a file to make if work.

The change is trivial, but I don't know whether you can do it by yourself (
modify the soffice into
soffice.bin into the Info.plist file inside the OpenOffice.org Bundle) .

So if you are interested, contact me on IRC ( server is irc.freenode.net
channel #ooo_macport ), or by
email, and I'll explain yopu what is needed.

I have created a new database with open office and put some times and datetimes
into a table. If i view the table or create a query on it the time format
matches with my locale (24 hour format).

If I create a report using the assistent the times are displayed correct.

But if I create a report using the report designer the times are not shown
correctly. It seems that he converts every entry into am... i.e. 16:00 will be
displayed as 04:00 (in 24h time format!) or if i set the time format to 12h it
displays it as 04:00 am even if it should be pm...

I have uploaded the sample odb-file to the url above.
