Using Windows Explorer to find a file, click on that file, OpenOffice starts,
opens the file for a moment, then OpenOffice closes down. Wait for OpenOffice
to close down, then click again on the same or other file in Windows Explorer,
file opens successfully.

Occasionally when the above happens, I get a report that Java is needed. Java
is there, from your download OOo_3.0.0_Win32Intel_install_wJRE_en-US.exe
version 1.6.0_07.

Java notified me that there is a newer version of the above, its 1.6.0_10 which
I installed automatically and made sure this is recognized in OpenOffice under
Tools Options OpenOffice.org Java.

Thank You
Dan

Please available Persian language to the list of language modules.

Wrote a macro using FilePicker (re-using StoreDocument function from Tools
library), where the statements .setDefaultName and .setDefaultDirectory don't
work.
This macro should work as a work-around for issue 22561, for Writer documents
only.

Tested with OOO300m9 (OOo 3.0.0) on Linux (used vanilla RPMs).

Traced with xray in a local SUB (instead using the function), that both values
are passed correctly, but they don't show/take effect on .execute the dialogue.

Relevant part of macro is this:
' -
Sub test_FileSave
   ' load helper function library
If NOT GlobalScope.BasicLibraries.isLibraryLoaded( Tools ) Then
  GlobalScope.BasicLibraries.loadLibrary( Tools )
   End If

' create a list of available FilterNames
   addWriterFilterNames()

' use procedure from TOOLS library
StoreDocument( ThisComponent, aFilterNames, FilenameProposal, /home )

End If

' -
' add FilterNames
Sub addWriterFilterNames
oMasterKey = GetRegistryKeyContent(org.openoffice.TypeDetection.Types)
oTypes() = oMasterKey.Types
oUIKey =
GetRegistryKeyContent(org.openoffice.Office.UI/FilterClassification/LocalFilters)

aFilterNames(0,0) = oTypes.GetByName(writer8).UIName (*.odt)
aFilterNames(0,1) = *.odt
aFilterNames(0,2) = oTypes.GetByName(writer8).Name

aFilterNames(1,0) = oTypes.GetByName(writer8_template).UIName (*.ott)
aFilterNames(1,1) = *.ott
aFilterNames(1,2) = oTypes.GetByName(writer8_template).Name

End Sub

I have a strange behavior of my screen refresh when I use the function INDIRECT
in conditional formatting. Several different users confirmed the lack of refresh
on different machines
(http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9t=12660)

Scenario
1. Open a blank Calc document
2. Select cell A1 and name it Rank (either click on the combo box in the
formula bar or use the menu Insert Name Define)
3. Write the number 1 in cell A1, the text Rank (without quotes) in A2 and the
formula =INDIRECT(A2) in cell A3. Cell A3 returns the content of cell A1, which
is a normal behavior.
4. In the range D6:D31, fill the cells with random digits, in any order. It is
not important to have all the digits as long as most of them are present.
5. Select the range D6:D31 and click on the menu Format Conditional
Formatting. Enter the first condition as: Cell value is greater than
=INDIRECT($A$2) cell style Heading1, then click OK. You should notice that
the numbers in the range D6:D31 are changing format, which is the expected
behavior.
6. Click on cell A1 and change its content to 7. On my machine, the screen is
NOT properly refreshed and the numbers below 7 are not formatted back to the
default style.
7. Scroll to the right until column D disappears from the screen, then scroll
back left to show column D. The cells D6:D31 are now displayed with the proper
style.
8. Repeat steps 6 and 7 with different numbers and different ways to refresh the
screen (minimize-maximize, move another application window above column D.
9. Copy the range D15:D25 to E15:E25
10. Select the range E15:E25 and click on the menu Format Conditional
Formatting. Edit the first condition as: Cell value is greater than =$A$1
cell style Heading1 (only the formula has changed)
11. Repeat step 6. Now, the screen is properly refreshed for the cells D15:D25,
but not for the other rows!

OS: Windows XP, SP3
OOo: 3.0.0. (build m9)
Graphic card: nVidia GeForce 8600 GT
Result: No screen refresh in step 6, partial screen refresh in step 11

OS: Windows XP, SP3
OOo: 3.0.0. (build m9)
graphic card: Radeon IGP 320 M
Result: No screen refresh in step 6, partial screen refresh in step 11

If in an extension there is a long license text, than this extension is
uninstallable because the user cannot accept this license: the text is not show

[graphics-issues] [Issue 20819] add polynomial regression type

--- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun Nov 30 09:59:36 +

Hello,

I am looking for help about user experience with polynomial regression curve. As
said previously by Ingrid, we need file format modification prior been able to
solve this issue.
Please join graphics mailing list to discuss about what is needed. A first draft
has been written for a file format change in ODF, in order to be able to add
polynomial regression curve. It is obvious that asking a file format change only
for polynomial regression curve is unproductive. That's why the proposition
include other important issues for regression curve:
- moving average trend line (issue 66819)
- force intercept (issue 34093)
- extrapolate (issue 5085)

Do you see some other features that are missing to trend lines? I made
the comparison with MS-Excel only, but other spreadsheets may have
interesting features. We need argument to obtain file format modification. Since
how long do other spreadsheets have polynomial trend lines? Which concrete
applications do you have with polynomial trend line, not only in maths and
physics? ...

With this four first features, there are things that should be discussed
before asking to OASIS TC a file format change:
- polynomial trend line: exponential terms is an option, but is it
necessary?
- moving average trend line: by default it is prior moving average. What
about adding central moving average? Is it necessary, or will there be
too many parameters, most of them useless?

Many thanks in advance for your answers on graphics mailing list.

Cannot reproduce on Windows.
This is apparently a small repaint problem due to graphic
driver/card/theme/resolution.

Press Ctrl+Shift+R to repaint the screen.

I I was able to reproduce the complained behaviour, but I don't think that it's
a bug.
If formula cell contents is bigger than cell area, it must cover other cells
when you make it visible with F2. What do you think is wrong with it? What
alternative do you see? Pls. add

This works fine if you use a monospaced font (Ex: Courier).
With a Serif font like Times New Roman, a X is wider than a space so that it
overlaps the 1.

Another way to workaround this is to use a bigger spacing between charaters
under Format - Character - Position

openoffice.org-writer.i386 1:3.0.0-9.10.fc10

How to reproduce:
* Start OpenOffice Writer
* Close it cleanly
* Restart OpenOffice Writer
- Crash

I don't know yet if the problem is reproduceable.
It might be related to the fact that I started OO too quickly after I closed it.

I will attach the crash-message.

You are asking for adjusting hanging indent from the Paragraph menu (meaning
Paragraph dialog) and that's what the help tells you to do, so where is the
problem?

Please try a native version from http://download.openoffice.org/index.html

under some circumstances it is not possible to mix absolut and relative cell
references in formulas that operate on a range. If a range definition is only
one row / column the reference type for the row/ column will be taken from the
first part of the range definition.

some examples, how Calc will change range definitions:

Enter -converted to
=SUM(C1:$C$1) =SUM(C1:C1)
=SUM($C$1:C1) =SUM($C$1:$C$1)
=SUM(C1:$C$5) =SUM(C1:C$5)
=SUM(C1:$D$1) =SUM(C1:$D1)

I have just read
http://blogs.sun.com/GullFOSS/entry/project_renaissance_kick_off1
which has as a mission statement
“Create a User interface so that OpenOffice.org becomes the users' choice not
only out of need but also out of desire

I feel that skinning would be a very important part of making this come true.

- Start OOo Draw or Impress and insert any shape
- Convert this shape to 3D
- Copy the 3D shape
- Start Writer and enable headers
- Insert the 3D shape in the header
- Insert a second page

On the first page the 3D shape is displayed correctly, on the following pages
the shape looks pale (not transparent).

See attached sample document.

Known Problem, see issue 94124

Workaround: Define a name for the absolute reference.

The error should be fixed in OOo300_m12, which is already on the mirrors. Please
try it with that version.

ayaniger-samia:
To test OOo 3.0, I wrote a document with three lines in OOo as in the screenshot
I submitted and attached to this issue. I saved the OOo document in doc format.
I opened the exported doc in Word, and it looked fine. In Word I added a fourth
line, saved it as doc, and opened it in OOo. It looked fine in OOo. If something
didn't work for you, can you can submit your original OOo document to this
issue, as well as the doc file after you worked on it in Word? It might help if
you write precisely what you did in Word before you saved it, so I know what to
look for.

The two attached files are:
- an updated version of the extension to be used to test, and
- a patch that changes the way the pushbutton “Digital Signature...” reacts to
the enable/disable state of the menu “Digital Signature...” command (in the menu
it's a dispatched command).

A better method could be to have the pushbutton reacting dynamically to the
enable/disable state of the “Signature” command, as the menu does, but I didn't
implement it.

The idea of disabling the pushbutton came out because while writing an extension
for custom digital signature of the document, I realized that for a normal user
to have two different signature methods can be confusing. So I need to disable
the OOo standard signature method.

May be the contribution of a security/digital signature expert developer it's
useful.

[sw-issues] [Issue 91226] Traditional mongolian supp ort

Without going into details, IMHO we can have both Mongolian variants in OOo, we
just can have linguistic support only for one of them.

Currently Mongolian is a Western language (cyrillic script). You can add the
spell checker for that language to OOo and it will work .

You can also add your traditional Mongolian support. In fact I already have
committed the attached patch into a CWS) and it should work (as good as in your
own builds).

Users just can't set the language of the text to Mongolian and so no spell
checking is possible for text written with Traditional Mongolian. This will
require the changes in OOo Eike and I tried to explain. So the request of badaa
in #desc7 can't be fulfilled in OOo 3.1.

Respectfully, this was reported as a Linux issue, not with the Windows binaries.
I don't have this problem on any other software that I use. I wouldn't be
surprised if it was related to the toolbar flashing like crazy when I move the
mouse over it; but again, that's not an issue which can be verified on a Windows
binary either.

Hi
In language settings and locale setting, I set locale on Farsi.
I opened a new text document with Writer.
I inserted a chart with these steps: InsertObjectChart
Unfortunately the numbers in X axis are shown in English numeral! as I said , I
set locale to Farsi. Also the numbers of columns and rows are shown in English
numeral too.
I set locale to Arabic. This issue didn't occurred and the numbers are shown in
Arabic numeral. For better description I attached a sample of this issue.
Thank you.

Sorry about the loose description of the Help Notes.
As you rightly surmised I should have referred to them as Printing Address
Labels.

Your further findings all agree with mine - they are confusing and they don't
work.

http://openoffice.blogs.com/openoffice/2006/07/mail_merge_labe.html

Gives you the details that should appear in the Help notes for Printing Address
Labels.

Thank you for your patient attention.

New inproc OLE server is introduced and module embedserv is updated since m36.
MinGW port has some problems with it.

1) MinGW w32api header is including wrong prototypes for
IExternalConnection::AddConnection and IExternalConnection::ReleaseConnection.

2) MinGW needs local UUID initialization at one and only one object.

3) Library specifications in makefile.mk has to be specified by macro variables
to conform with different library naming convention.

4) As inproc server dll is avoiding version objfile, the .def file should not
have GetVersionInfo reference. Microsoft Linker exports GetVersionInfo imported
from uwinapi.dll but ld linker complains. I modified solenv/inc/_tg_def.mk not
to emit GetVersionInfo if $(VERSIONOBJ)=.

i will add to more pictures:

- insert-simple-x-oo-30: oo 3.0 insert a simple X in a cell

- insert-simple-x-oo-115: here only formula's right from
  the input are affected :-)

what i mean:
a user will fill out a form (e.g. database rows) from left to right.
so it is uncomfortable if the left cells next to the input cell are
hidden during input ... it's like typing blind ... :-(

it would be nice to have the old oo 115 behaviour back
during input ...

have the problem that the TAB key does not work in some documents. Currently it
seems that those documents have been created from a template document witn 3.1.
You should be able to reproduce the problem with attached mytest.odt or with
an own new document created from an own new WRITER template document.

Avoiding installation of on-line update component during setup or removing it
from a working installation causes OOo to crash when selecting menu
Tools-Options.

To reproduce the issue install OOo DEV300m36 and skip installation of on-line
update component.
As just as you select menu Tools- Options soffice.bin will always look for
file \Program Files\OOo-Dev 3\program\basis\updchk.uno.dll regardless if it
has been installed or not and it will crash if the file is not present.

This issue can be reproduced in DEV300m35 and DEV300m36, it is not present in
DEV300m12.

It has been quite a while since the first submission of the issue. I have
written afterwards that the problem still exists! Anyone interested in this
issue?

I think the problem is that the issue type is set to enhancement, when it was
actually a *defect*! The feature is already there: When you hover your mouse
over the footnote reference, footnote text appears but the display of the
footnote is defective! Maybe then will someone notice this problem!

ps. Since my first submission, I have changed location. As a result, the links
are not there anymore. When I have a chance, will submit new images.

Just to avoid confusion, the correct alphabetical order is:
a, ă, â, ..., i, î, ..., s, ş, t, ţ, ...
(And this is what miksar refered to. Please note, this order is different in the
attached document, with plain letters first, followed then by the diacritis,
i.e.: a, b, c, ..., y, z, ă, â, î, ş, ţ - and this is wrong.)

I would like to add that I sometimes prefer to treat diacritics as the simple
plain letters, e.g. I would like to have this sort order, as if /a/ and /â/ are
the same:

 rac NOT rac
 rând raport
 raport rând

This is particularly important, because documents are written often with a
mixture of diacritics and NO diacritics, so it doesn't make sense to sort in
such detail. (The order: a, i, s, t, then diacritics is nevertheless wrong.)

Found in OOO300m9, OOO300m12 and DEV300m36 too.
Under Windows XP SP2, Unbuntu 8.04 32 bits and LINUX X64.

Duplicate a nativ table (or a page containing a table) where cells were merged
does not keep the fusion.

Yes, patch in issue 28358 looks like a real solution :-)

At this time bug still exists in OO 3.0.0 under Slackware 12.1. So,
changing version: OOo 2.0.3 - OOo 3.0.0;
changing OS: Win XP - All.
