F9 and Ctrl-Shift-F9 do not update the spreadsheet completely. I have to close and open the spreadsheet for it to recalculate correctly. I will attach the spreadsheet later since there appears to be no option to add it at this stage. I know it is not very elegant, but it reproduces the problem. Note that there are two bits of BASIC code. Here are the steps to reproduce the issue: 1. Open 'Julia - Small Version.ods'. The spreadsheet will recalculate correctly and draw the fractal. 2. Select cells C6 to AG36 and set the background color to black in order to clear the fractal. 3. Try to recalculate using F9 or Ctrl-Shift-F9. The fractal is not redrawn. Changing a cell in the spreadsheet also does not cause the fractal to re-draw. 4. Save, close and open the spreadsheet. It is then recalculated correctly and the fractal redrawn. Ctrl+F12 which switches to virtual desktop 1 ... 12, or Ctrl+Tabulator which switches to the next virtual desktop, and so on. But I think this is not a reason against, but *for* making the Alt key available for keyboard shortcuts configuration via the GUI: that way the user has more choices to *avoid* a shortcut is being catched by the desktop manager. Currently one is limited to shortcuts without the Alt key. On the other hand, since there are some pre-defined keyboard shortcuts in OOo which use the Alt key (think Ctrl+Alt+Cursor up, or the newly introduced Ctrl+Alt+N), one has to be able to define an other shortcut for these actions (e.g. in case the default is already in use for the desktop manager). Currently one cannot configure these shortcuts at all. When changing the fontsize of the text, the kashida-errors moving from one word to annother word (this means a kashida error on word A with fontsize X does not appear on the same word A with another fontsize Y). I attached an example text with fontsize 32 and fontsize 40. VCL defines several keyboard modifiers. Since I can remember we always had MOD1 and MOD2 that e.g. on Windows map to CTRL and ALT. I don't know how many modifiers we support nowadays on the different platforms, but I will find out. In general we can offer access to all keys and modifiers that VCL shows us. To my current knowledge this does not allow us to differentiate between the numeric and the normal keyboard. And I also doubt that the configuration format can do that. I have to find that out. The different platforms will create the following problems: - Some keys are reserved on platform X, but not on platform Y. That means that we must not use them for predefined shortcuts (that's true already now!) and we either leave it up to the user to find out if his desired personal shortcut in OOo works on his platform or we can try to assist him. As the latter will be quite some effort, I opt for not doing this, at least now. - a user keyboard shortcut might work on one platform but not on another. This can create a problem in a user profile shared between several platforms. I regularly make use of the Win and Alt-Gr key modifiers, for instance. Concerns about desktop environments or window managers catching the keypresses could be alleviated simply by notifying the user that this might happen. If someone is going so far as to customize their keyboard input, they are very probably already savvy enough to deal with such concerns, provided they have a hint at where to look to change their system settings. Another option for avoiding key combos that the DE or WM catch instead is to have the user input the desired key combo in the dialog -- I believe this is what MS Word already does, and is also what the KDE config dialogs do. If the desired key combo produces a strange effect instead of appearing in the OOo dialog, it's pretty clear that that key combo is being caught. This may be the implementation but it's not expected. It should replace all occurrences as a single operation and not change anything else. Changing the cursor position is a serious side effect and very annoying. When searching and replacing interactively, I do expect the cursor to jump because this is the implicit behavior of the Replace button in all apps I know: Replace and search next. Giving Replace all an implicit behavior of Replace and go to last replaced item is unintuitive. I see the reason for this behavior but not the purpose, the practical use of it, and that's what should matter. This bug has been open since 2002. What is wrong in Ctrl+Alt+N (which is equivalent to AltGr+N on international keyboards) is that this key binding is normally reserved for the input of some international characters. When I type it on my keyboard (whose driver on Windows is correctly configured to allow entering a macron as a ded key), I can't get the character, but the Insert Note function is activated. Apparently, the Cltr+Alt+N keybinding is hardcoded within the function, and any attempt to change it from the Keyboard shortcuts editor (menu ToolsCustomize) has no effect: the Ctrl+Alt+N keybinding remains in effect (the default assigned keybinding is effectively Cltr+Shift+N, you can remove it, or change it, but this has no effect on the hardcoded Ctrl+Alt+N binding that must be somewhere in the C/C++ source of this function, that completely ignores the user preference. PLEASE REMOVE THE HARDCODED CTRL+ALT+N KEYBOARD SHORTCUT BINDING from your source code and read the user preferences instead to determine this binding (that are set in the ToolsCustomize panel). This bug is there since very long (since the begining of the introduction of the Insert Note function in OOo), it has been signaled many times in the past and incorrectly analyzed and closed prematurely in all successibve versions; it is still there in OOo3.0.1: it is breaking the normal input of characters that DO NEED a full access to all Ctrl+Alt+key=AltGr+Key or Shift+Ctrl+Alt+key=Shift+AltGr+Key, where the key is in the main alphanumeric part of the keyboard (with the exception of function keys that you can more freely reassign for bindings). (Note that Ctrl+Key or Ctrl+Shift+Key shortcuts are free for mapping OO functions or menus, as well as Alt+Key or Shift+Alt+Key...) For your information, just look at the MS Keyboard layout editor, and look at those keys that are needed in international keyboards: load their layouts. Make sure you have understood as well how the Asian keyboards use the various layout modes. Make sure that your bindings are also compatible with the Canadian keyboard and the US International keyboard. Don't assume that users will just use the basic national keyboard: many users have extended keyboards with assitional characters added for example with a custom driver created with MSKLC. For example, on my French keyboard, I have added Latin extensions needed for French and for most European languages, including the additional dead keys that are missing on usual (limited) French keyboards (for example the default French keyboard lacks the possibility of entering capitals with accents: my extended keyboard remains fully compatible with the default basic keyboard but adds the necessary dead keys such as the cedilla, macron, acute accent, grace accent, ring above, breve accent, hacek, or combining strokes needed for entering International toponyms and people names, or scientific names, without having to look for those characters in a large and complex Latin charmap). - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. In 2.4.0, I had been using the OS-generated Open dialogs (an OOo option) rather than OOo's native dialogs, and I had forgotten that by the time I reported the problem, so I didn't mention it in my event description. The option in 3.0.1 is at Tools menu Options OpenOffice.org General Open/Save dialogs Use OpenOffice.org dialogs. According to the option's tooltip, deselecting that causes the dialogs of the operating system to be used. In leaving this closed, I've also lowered the priority to P4, since I assume most users leave that option at its default, so the affliction affects fewer users. On the other hand, the growth in distribution means fewer people are still a lot. I'm open to retesting soon if you think it might be worthwhile.
