I have a form setup to access a parts database in Postgres 8.1 which works fine
except for search. I select the Data source as Table icon, this works fine. I
highlight the partnum field, a text field, the select the Find Replace icon.
Do a search phrase and clickj Find. It comes base search key not found. I have
tried all of the options and combinations of them plus partial part number and
the entire part number. It simply does not work.

When I select a cell in calc, then go to the edit field to copy, this takes a
long time, like 5 to 10 seconds. (Machine is Dell Latitude D620 with 2.33 GHz
Core 2 Duo and 2 GB RAM). The same thing occurs in base form when trying to
copy/paste. This appears to be a Windows thing as I have not observed it in
Linux. It also does not take that long using other windows applications.

The sdbc driver does work and I can access and modify the database with it.
ODBC
driver still does not work with Base though. Since I am using Base to update
the
database which is accessed with an application that only uses ODBC, it will
work
fine.

Thanks for the info.

System is WinXP on Dell Inspiron 8500 w/1GB ram. I open a postgresql database,
ver 8.01 using Postgresql ODBC driver ver 8.00.01.02. I see the table and the
queries shown underneath the table. I can view the query data, but when I try
to
view the table itself, I get

SQL Status: 24000

[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Invalid cursor state

So Base is unuseable for what I want to use it for. I can do the same with
MSAccess, and it works fine as is PGAdmin III.

I noticed later, that even the msword document was not quite correct. If you
look on pages 3 5, and compare them to pages 3 5 of the .odt file, you will
see some of the objects shifted and some rotated 90 degrees.

I copied a bit mapped image from PADS Power PCB (the only way to get an image
out of it) into Draw. I added some text and arrow. I then copied it into a
Writer document and add some text outside of the images. Everything went fine
until I went to print it on an HP Laserjet 5000PS. The images were 2 to 3 times
larger and wiped out most of the text. Print preview showed OK. Checked
document
page setting, printer setting, etc. All OK. I exported it as PDF. Openening the
PDF shows the same as on the printer, So I exported the document into MSWord
2000 .doc file and printed it. It went OK. I have attached the .odt, .pdf, and .
doc files.

Opening this Word document, the paragraph numbering does not work. If I open it
in MSWord 2k or WP 10, it is OK. If I save as .doc in WP, it comes up that file
is corrupt. If I save it from Word as .rtf, then open the .rtf again, it is
still OK in Word. Save it as .doc, then it is OK in Swriter 1.9.125.

There is an error in my comments of submission. After saving the document as .
rtf from word, then opening it again in word, there was no change other than
size. Saving as word .doc again with different file name, then opening it again
in swriter, it still had the problem with paragraph numbering. However, if I
opened the .rtf in swriter, the paragraph numbering was correct.

If you look at the connecting lines between some of the boxes on the left, you
will see they are not perfectly horizontal, they are off by a few degrees.
Also,
the horizontal lines on the left of the switches and on the right and left of
the diode symbols are not all perfectly horizontal. You may have to zoom up to
200% on your display, but on my display, 24 inch 1920X1200, it is quite clear
and when printed out it also shows up. It seems this problem occurs either when
a copy/paste is performed or after the document was saved and reopened. Grid
was
also 0.1 inch as default 0.5 inch is ridiculously large for this type of
diagram. If you try to straighten the line by grabbing one end or the other, it
usualy makes it worse or in the other direction. You cannot get it on grid
again. PowerPoint does not have this problem, although Impress is easier to
operate than Powerpoint. It does not seem to make a difference of the file is .
ppt or the impress odp file as the file that I sent was originally. If I take a
redo of the drawing I sent that was completely done in PowerPoint and open it
in
Impress, edit an end to a line, I cannot get it back on grid. Same with copy/
paste most of the tiem.

When using 0.1 inch grid, (or any other drid for that matter) objects will not
hold grid when copy/pasting. This was true in OOo 1.15, 1.9.79, and in present
Beta 2. Considering this is a vector drawing program, this is very poor and
makes the program for many many purposes unuseable. (technical and block
diagrams mainly). This appears to be round off error or something.

Have imported fixed width data as text to prevent scalc from converting some
numbers to dates which is also a fault of Excel. Now, if I want to format the
text number to a real number for calculations, it will not format. Pulling the
spreadsheet into Excel does same thing, However, if I import the data into
Excel
as text, I can then format the text number as a real number. I note in the data
window when I select the cell, it has a ' before the number. If I delete this,
it
will then work. This gets to be a PITA for a long spreadsheet. Other text data
cells do not display the '.
I see three solutions:
1. Remove the ' when importing on a number
2. Fix the import so that it does not convert a number to a date.
3. Fix the format cell number to really work.
