[sw-issues] [Issue 111156] number between parenthese s in table cell converts to negative value

This is an undesired behaviour, and i can't figure out how to impede it. I have encountered the problem on both the Mac and Linux. There is a similar issue with a number followed by a period, such as 3.. On my Mac, the period is removed when i move the cursor, while in Linux (where i might be running a slightly older version of OOo) the number is converted to something that looks like a date, in the format 03.04.10, but oddly, it is not today's date. This seems to have something to do with data display format, but i can't figure out how to change it. If the display format is set to text, the problem still arises. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [sw-issues] [Issue 2593] cross-references from Word documents; not possible to refer on paragraph number
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=2593 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Fri Aug 29 07:59:28 + 2008 --- There is a concrete example of the use of numbered examples in linguistics in the (duped) issue 2204 (see the March 29, 2004 comment). I would like to confirm stgries's comment that the lack of this feature makes OOo impractical for writing linguistics articles of any length, and i have often had to express reservation to colleagues interested in switching to OOo for just this reason. I am now writing a 25-page article, with about 100 examples. In Word or Latex, if i remove example (1), all of the numberings, including the references to them, change automatically. In OOo, i have to go through and renumber each one manually. This is nothing i could ever recommend to a colleague. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. This is great, but it uses the wrong alphabet order. When you use Arabic numbers in the same way that in English we use Roman numerals (such as to number items in a list), you don't use the regular alphabetic order: alif baa' taa' thaa' jiim... Rather, you use the abjad hawwaz order: alif baa' jiim daal haa'... I posted a query on Arabeyes.org about this issue, and the one response i got concurred with me. The responder provided the entire abgad hawwaz mnemonic: abjad hawwaz HuTTi kalaman sa'faS qarashat thakhadh DaZagh OOo is currently using the regular alphabetic order. It should be changed to use the abjad hawwaz order. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. This first is the Summer Institute of Linguistics (SIL) Doulos IPA font: http://scripts.sil.org/cms/scripts/page.php?site_id=nrsiitem_id=DoulosSILfont It appears to be this font that causes the trouble. The second is KacstBook, an Arabic font, available here: http://www.arabeyes.org/project.php?proj=Khotot The Arabic font might not be crucial to view the problem. All of the garbage text is in the IPA font. The problem is with PDF export in OOo 1.9.109 on Windows. I don't have this problem with a PDF export of the same file in OOo 1.9.97 on Linux. I don't know if this is a regression or simply a difference between the Linux and Windows versions. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. I have run through my steps to the letter and am still able to reproduce this. I do recall the problem not showing up once when i expected it to. So, when i saw that the bug couldn't be reproduced, i experimented a little. I found that i can only reproduce the bug if i have not performed any previous print operations (on any document) in the current OOo session. So, to try to reproduce the bug, you should be sure to close OOo and start it up again fresh. This may (or may not) have something to do with another oddity i have noticed. The first time i open up a either the print options or print dialog, the printer selected is generic printer, but if i cancel or printer, the next time i do the same thing, the generic printer option is gone, and instead i have the real name of the default printer. (And the generic printer printer is no longer even in the list of printers.) - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. The orientation change (from portrait to landscape) does not take effect until after you try to print. This is better described in a step-by-step fashion. To duplicate the problem, follow these steps: 1. Open a new Writer document. 2. Type some text in it, making it two pages long. 3. Open the Print Preview dialog. 4. Click on the print options page view icon. 5. Under format, change from portrait to landscape and click OK. 6. Click on the print page view icon, and then click OK. 7. The document will print in portrait format rather than landscape. 8. Print the document again (repeating step 6). 9. The document now prints correctly in landscape format. This has been around for as long as i have i have been testing these pre-2.0 builds, which is about two months. [sw-issues] [Issue 41609] New - contents of Filter Selection dialog should be alphabetized or grouped
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=41609 Issue #:|41609 Summary:|contents of Filter Selection dialog should be |alphabetized or grouped Component:|Word processor Version:|680m74 Platform:|All URL:| OS/Version:|Linux Status:|NEW Status whiteboard:| Keywords:| Resolution:| Issue type:|DEFECT Priority:|P3 Subcomponent:|ui Assigned to:|mru Reported by:|bulbul --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sat Jan 29 11:23:32 -0800 2005 --- In OOo 680m74, when you try to open a file whose format OOo can't decipher, the Filter Selection dialog comes up. There are about 70 different items to chose from, but they don't appear to be in any logical order. For example, the first four times are: OOo 1.0 Text Document PSD Adobe Photoshop Web Page Query (OOo Calc) StarWriter 4.0 The makes it very hard to find the correct item. The items should either be alphabetized or grouped in some other logical way (such as all text formats together, then all spreadsheet formats, etc.). I think that alphabetizing is both the easiest conceptually and in terms of implementation (since it could be alphabetized on the fly). - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. These do not work for consistently for me. I have different results with the two i have tested: Ctrl+Shft+V: This is supposed to be paste special. Usually when i hit this one, nothing at all happens, although sometimes, after a while i will start to work. I can't tell what triggers it. Ctrl+Shft+F: This is supposed to be repeat search. When i hit this one, it is always interpreted as simply Shft+F, and an upper case F is inserted into the document. I have checked the customize dialog and verified that both of these shortcuts are supposed to do the things i mentioned. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. In the Python Macros dialog, i can find the HelloWorld.py file in the HelloWorld module. (These are sample macros which come with OOo.) The Delete, Edit, Rename, and Create buttons are all disabled. The Run button is enabled, but when i click on it, i get a dialog box which tells me: star.sun.com.uno.RuntimeExceptionPythonProvider::getScript: can't get PythonScript I don't have this problem with the other programming languages. This is a fresh, unadulterated installation, so i don't think it's trying to use an external Python installation. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
