I don't know the source of the attached .doc file, but I suspect it might be a
WordPerfect document that has had it's extension changed to .doc. In any
event, when you try to open it, it causes a hang.

I don't understand how this can be resolved as "fixed". If you can't open the
file, then how can you fix it by "deleting all unused rows". If the file does
open after a long time, it is a virtual hang and there should at least be a
way to cancel out of the operation. To me, this is a true priority 2 bug that
hangs OpenOffice and it should be addressed in some other fashion. Just my 2
cents... Please reconsider.

I believe the original may have come from here:
http://www.glomex.it/files/Price-list-2005.xls

I compiled and ran this program to determine it's an Excel 9 file:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q225029/

I am able to open it just fine in Excel 2003 and I think it worked fine in
m113.

Opened the attached MS Word file in Writer, then exported all pages to PDF
with lossless compression and tagging on. When opened in Adobe Reader 7.0, you
immediately get a message that says "A drawing error occurred." and you cannot
see the first page of this two page document (it's blank).

The attached XLS file is set up to print out as 6 pages, yet when you do a
Page Preview, Print or export to PDF, you get 81 pages. The strange thing
about this is that first 75 pages have irrelevant grids on them. Starting at
page 75, you get the last 6 pages as you'd expect the whole "print out" to
appear.

On page 1 of the attached PowerPoint document, the ActualText tag information
that is output with the PDF is incorrect. It is repeated multiple times like
this: "Chapter 13 Game TheoryChapter 13 Game TheoryChapter 13 Game Theory".

The attached MS Word document was exported to PDF from Writer. If you open it
up in Adobe Acrobat Professional 6.0 and select "Document > Pages > Extract"
to extract page 1 of the document to a separate PDF, Adobe puts up an error
message that reads "An incorrect structure was found in the PDF file". I'm
also attaching the resultant PDF. Because of this error, there is no way to
extract pages from the PDF.

Attaching MS Word document that contains a long table (many rows). When opened
in OpenOffice, the long table (which starts on page 1) gets truncated as it
tries to flow onto page 2. MS Word opens the same document and has 5 pages to
it. OpenOffice opens it with only 2 pages with the second page being blank. I
think this bug may relate to 7791, but there is also mention in 7791 that the
problem would be fixed in OpenOffice 2.0 by implementing page breaks. The
problem does not seem to be fixed.

[graphics-issues] [Issue 40658] Memory leaks across all applications just opening/closing empty documents.

The Windows Task Manager was used to discover this. I have found it to be a
very reliable indicator of memory usage. My example was meant to show the
simplest possible way to reproduce the problem. I have also done batch
processing on many Office files and found similar leaks. It's pretty obvious
that the memory is being eaten and then freed when you shut down the program.
I have also seen instances of thrash after automating to convert Office files
to PDF.

I've retraced this problem down to the svx/source/xoutdev/_ximp.cxx module
where there's a call on line 247 of XOutputDevice::ImpDrawFillPolyPolygon that
looks like this: pOut->IntersectClipRegion( rPolyPoly );

Here's some more context surrounding the call:

if( !pOut->GetPDFWriter() && XIMP_bDrawRasterOps )
{
pOut->SetRasterOp( ROP_XOR );
ImpDrawBitmapFill( aPolyRect, bPrinter );
pOut->Push( PUSH_FILLCOLOR );
pOut->SetFillColor( COL_BLACK );
pOut->SetRasterOp( ROP_0 );
pOut->DrawPolyPolygon( rPolyPoly );
pOut->Pop();
pOut->SetRasterOp( ROP_XOR );
ImpDrawBitmapFill( aPolyRect, bPrinter );
}
else
{
pOut->IntersectClipRegion( rPolyPoly ); // <== THIS IS THE OFFENDING
LINE
ImpDrawBitmapFill( aPolyRect, bPrinter );
}

If this call cannot be optimized, perhaps there is a way to o
