I can reproduce this problem with the following steps using only OO.o Calc.

1. Create a new spreadsheet with the default formatting Verdana 10
2. Into a cell, type The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog (no quotes)
3. Move cursor to another cell, then back to the cell with the phrase.
4. Select the latter half of the phrase and cut it to the clipboard
5. Move the cursor to another cell and paste the half phrase with Ctrl+V
6. The cell to which the paste goes is now formatted as Tahoma 4.6

Please forgive my earlier mistake; I thought it was Calibri, which is why I
thought the source of the original copy was significant. It's now obvious that
the only application involved is OO.o Calc.

I will try to attach a spreadsheet demonstrating the outcome. What other files
do I need to provide?

My spreadsheet has a default format of Verdana 10.

I paste text in from outside (Opera 11 email) using a keyboard mapping defined
at the OO.o level: Ctrl+V defined as .uno:PasteUnformatted. Ctrl-V is not mapped
at the Calc level.

The new text seems to accept the default formatting of Verdana 10.

I then copy some of that text from one cell and paste it into another cell,
again with Ctrl-V.

The pasted cell often gets formatted as Calibri size 4.6

It's possible that the Calibri comes from the original source of the text
outside OO.o but the size doesn't come from there.

I almost never want to bring format with text when pasting, which is why I have
redefined Ctrl+V at th e OO.o level to paste unformatted. When rarely I want to
bring the forward, I use Shuft-Insert instead.

Hi thanks for trying to resolve this.

My PDF export options (I don't recall changing them from default) are:

General Tab
Range - all
Images - Lossless compression
General- only Export bookmarks checked.
Initial View
Panes - page only
Magnification - Default
Page Layout- Default
User Interface tab
Only Display document title checked
Bookmarks - all bookmark levels
Links- only Convert document references to PDF targets checked.
Cross document links- Default mode
Security tab
No passwords
No restrictions

I don't know what causes xrefs in the output. I use (you will see from the .ODT)
cross-references to Headings quite a lot, to the Reference for sub-headings, and
to the Number for appendices.
I also use cross-references to Numbered Paragraphs (to the Number) for
quotations as evidence.
The other unusual things is that I use Zotero to insert citations to academic
literature and similar.

Hope this helps, ,

I have created a thesis of 115 pages in ODT format. Normally I export it as PDF
to send for review by people who don't use OpenOffice.

Three separate target systems (including my own with Acrobat Reader 7) cannot
print from the PDF produced this way from Acrobat. Printing fails repeatably
after a few pages, and this behaviour has persisted through many drafts of the
thesis.

My own system can print the PDF with Foxit PDF reader.

I also have the CutePDF printer driver installed, and use this to print the
thesis to PDF. PDFs produced this way can be printed from Acrobat.

I open a document in which I created a series of styles.

I open the Template Management dialogue (File; Templates; Organise).

I double-click My Templates then my default document template listed as
Graham Document 20091004a. This corresponds to file D:\Documents and
Settings\Graham\Application Data\OpenOffice.org\3\user\template\Graham Document
20091004a.ott

I double click the Styles list in the template.

On the right hand list box I double click the name of my open document, then
Styles.

I browse to the styles I created, and one at a time I shift-drag them from the
right hand list box to the left hand list box. They appear correctly at the end
of the list of styles in the left hand list box. They are named like APA Body,
APA H1 etc. for styles associated with the American Psychological Society
formatting system.

I click the Close button. It makes no difference if I first collapse the lists
of styles in each list box, or whether I set the existing default sytyle (to
which I copied the styles) as my default style before I click Close.

At that point I get an error dialog titled Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime
Library saying Runtime error
Program: D:\Program Files\OpenOffice.Org 3\program\soffice.bin
has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information [OK]

Then OpenOffice closes, without saving the template file.
The file is not marked readonly, and it is in a folder owned by me.
I'm running XP SP2. soffice.bin appears (through DLLshow.exe) to be calling both
MSVCR71.DLL and MSVCR90.DLL
