No, it cannot be closed yet. The string is still Key instead of Key
(schwarz) in OOo 3.2.0. I use the German localization.

And with regards of the millions of end-users it is not irrelevant at all.

Powerpoint export fails to store relative image links, but instead always stores
absolute ones. That means you cannot export a presentation in powerpoint format
containing links.

Here are detailed steps to reproduce the problem. A sample presentation with an
image link is included for your convenience.

1. Create a sample presentation.

2. Save it into a working directory.

3. Copy an image file to the working directory.

4. Make sure that Ooo's load/save options demand that relative file links are
stored, not absolute ones.

5. Insert the image file as a link into the presentation.

6. Save the presentation in the Open Document Format into the working directory.

7. Save the presentation in the powerpoint format into the working directory.

8. Close the presentation.

9. Rename the working directory, so that absolute links would fail.

10. Open the ODF presentation: The image appears because the link has been
stored relatively.

11. Open the powerpoint presentation: The image is broken and the failing
absolute link is displayed instead.

No, it is still a defect because that's the average user's impression. He'd say:
Hey, it works in Powerpoint and it does not work in OpenOffice.org - so the
latter is broken. The expectation is that OOo should be able to import M$
documents one to one. Everything else I call a defect.

When importing a powerpoint (PPT) presentation into an OpenDocument
presentation, the master slide settings of the powerpoint presentation are
ignored. The two simple and sample presentations pure.odp and pure.ppt
attached to this bug report show the buggy behaviour. They can also be used to
easily experience the circumvention described below.

The OpenDocument presentation pure.odp is based on a master slide with a grey
background.

The Powerpoint presentation pure.ppt is based on a master slide with a white
background and a golden rectangle at the left side. Opening it in OOo seems to
give the expected result.

To reproduce the error, proceed as follows:
1. Open pure.odp in OOo.
2. Import pure.ppt into pure.odp.
3. Observe the following problems in pure.odp:
3.1 The background color of the inserted slides is grey instead of white.
3.2 The golden rectangle is missing.
3.3 The font settings are different.

The reason for this behaviour is obviously that the resulting presentation does
not contain the master slide of the imported presentation.

The reason for this in turn seems to be a master slide name clash. The standard
master slide in OOo is called Standard, and the standard master slide's name
in a powerpoint presentation is either also Standard or OOo falsely takes it
to be Standard. I guess the latter is the case because I can rename the master
slide in powerpoint, but it is always imported as Standard.

Okay, these findings give us two options to circumvent the problem:

1. Before importing a powerpoint presentation, rename the Standard master
slide in the ODF presentation to something else. This improves the import
considerably. However, not all powerpoint master slide settings are imported
correctly.

2. Open the powerpoint presentation, rename the Standard master slide to
something else, save the presentation as an OpenDocument file, and then import
that file into the target presentation. This works fine.

The following bugs should still be fixed:
- When importing a powerpoint file, read the master slide name correctly (in
case it isn't).
- When importing a powerpoint file, detect any master slide name clashes and
take appropriate actions, i.e. automatically rename the imported master slides.
- Correct those master slide settings that are not imported properly.

The attached powerpoint presentation contains a single slide with some kind of
graphics object. In OOo, it opens fine. However, if you save the presentation to
an ODF document, close the file and reopen it, the object is invisible. It is
still there, but invisible.

You can watch the same effect when copying the graphics to Draw document, save
it, close it, and reopen it: The graphics is invisible.

In a presentation I configured a sound file to be played when displaying a
certain slide. The slide appears, but the sound does not. However, when I select
the sound file using the dialog box and click on the play button, the sound is
audible. Therefore this is not a matter of my Linux box's audio configuration
but indeed a defect in OOo.

The Logitech Cordless Presenter 2,4 GHz is a wireless device used to remote
control a presentation. Among others, it has two keys [] and [] to step
forward and backward through a presentation by sending [PageDown] resp. [PageUp]
to the presentation program. There are probably other devices with the same
functionality on the market.

However, while this is fine for M$ Powerpoint presentations, it won't work with
OOo if a slide contains animations that need additionals clicks to start. The
reason is that [PageDown] key does not proceed to the next animation on the same
slide but to the next slide instead - skipping the animations on the current
one. (A similar problem is with the device's black screen functionality: It
sends a '.' while OOo expects a 'b'.

I help myself with xmodmap (under the X Window System) to redefine the keys: The
[PageDown] key will generate a [space], and the [.] key will generate a [b].
This is of course very clumsy and has severe impacts on other applications.

Command to change the key mappings: xmodmap -e keycode 105 = space Next -e
keycode 60 = b colon period division period division

Command to restore the key mappings: xmodmap -e keycode 105 = Next -e keycode
60 = period colon periodcentered division periodcentered division

I suggest to add a toggle button to establish complete Powerpoint compatibility
in the presentation mode, i.e. accept [PageDown] to proceed to the next
animation and accept [.] to switch to black screen.

An even better or at least more flexible enhancement would be to give the user
full control over which key should have which functionality in presentation
mode. It seems not to be possible to do this with OOo's normal key mapping
feature.

Yes, but that dialog does not allow for arbitrary name/value pairs. For example,
in order to establish an SSL connection the PostgreSQL JDBC driver wants to see
a property named ssl with a value of true. Other applications might have
other needs and JDBC drivers might require any other unforseeable property names
and values. Thus I'd like to see an extension of that dialog allowing to type
such name/value pairs, e.g. a two-column table. This would be a generic solution
for the power user and wouldn't exclude anything for comfortable.

would help, I'd be happy, because I could use it right now. But I'd still regard

When connecting to a database via JDBC it should be possible to specify
arbitrary parameters in addition to username and passwort. This is particularly
needed if you want to connect to a PostgreSQL database via SSL - see
http://jdbc.postgresql.org/documentation/80/connect.html for documentation and
an example. The current GUI does not permit to enter additional parameters.

I think I have a suitable testcase now to reproduce the problem reliably with
OOo 2.0.2. At least I did the following twice and got the error both times:

1. Open the attached file Testdocument_okay.odt.
2. Note that there's a large logo graphics at the upper right and a small one at
the lower left of the first page.
3. Place the cursor before the word Copy on the first page. Hit the [RETURN]
key until the word Copy is moved to the second page.
4. Save the document to a new file.
5. Close the document.
6. Open the file saved in step 4.
7. Note that the images mentioned in step 2 are missing.

The necessity to quote the text should/must go into the documentation! The
online help for 2.0.2 doesn't say anything about it yet, at least not the German
version.

Conditional text is not exported to Micro$oft Word 97/2000/XP. The conditional
fields are simply missing in the exported document. Or at least they are missing
when I reopen the Word document with OOo.

Reproducing is difficult. As I said, the problem occurs only after some working
with OOo and I couldn't find out which steps have to be performed to reproduce
the problem.

However, I found out that it also affects images that have already been
integrated into a text document before: When opening the document the image
displayed fine. After some working with OOo instead of the image a read error
was displayed. Saving the document to a test file, restarting OOo and opening
the test file showed that the image was gone.

Inserting a PNG image with an alpha channel into a text document fails in
several respects:
- The inserted object is very tiny, e.g. 0.04 cm x 0.04 cm.
- After resizing the object, instead of the image a read error is displayed.

PNGs without an alpha channel and other image formats work fine.

This bug did occur only after some working with OOo. Restarting OOo solved the
problem. However, after some time it showed up again.

I usually modify records in a (PostgreSQL) database by editing the values that
are already there, hitting [ENTER] to go to the next column. After hitting
[ENTER] in the last column the cursor proceeds to the next record. The current
record should be submitted to the database. However, sometimes the changes are
not submitted but instead the modifications are undone. Changing to another
record with [UP_ARROW] or [DOWN_ARROW] seems to work always - at least I did not
observe that bug yet.

Just discovered that the bug seems to be independend of the key to change the
current record. However, deleting a column's value has an impact.

Here's a way to reproduce the faulty behavior:
1. Within a record, go to some column C.
2. Change the value of column C.
3. Proceed to the next column D (using [TAB]).
4. Delete the value of column C by hitting [BACKSPACE].
5. Go to another record, e.g. using [UP_ARROW] or [DOWN_ARROW].
6. -- Observe that column C has its former value again!

Regarding my comment above, deleting column D's value isn't necessary, changing
it suffices:

1. Within a record, go to some column C.
2. Change the value of column C.
3. Proceed to the next column D (using [TAB]).
4. Change the value of column D.
5. Go to another record, e.g. using [UP_ARROW] or [DOWN_ARROW].
6. -- Observe that column C has its former value again. Column D's changed
value remains.
