@mnsteve: I think that either jl or tm found a solution and applied a patch
directly to the upstream OOo
sources which will be used to build an upcoming RC3. That's my interpretation
of the command that jl
made today at 13:42 CET.

But any clarification from either jl or tm is welcome.

If you complain about a lack of transparency try to report a similar issue to
MS maybe they are more
detailed and transparent on how they solve your issue.

@sierkb: Besides what Raphael already wrote I can only add that I'm - who does
end-user QA - is not a
coders himself and so I can't take a look at the code and see if it uses the
Jave detection Apple sugests. I
have to trust the developers that they did a code peer review. When I get an RC
I install it and start doing
the testing.

When 3.2.1 was in RC it did detect the then up to date Java and everything
broken now was working back
then.

BTW: LibO is broken as well and we cannot use NeoOffice code because it's under
GPL.

Just had the same problem as toucheguy and lgusaas while I was working on a
paper that's needed for tomorrow and that I wanted to send out to my
co-workers.

In order to have various OOo versions for testing purpose I put them in under
folders and only leave the most current qa'ed version in Applications.

So my current structure looks like this

/Applications/OOo 3.2 RC - 3.2.0 RC3
/Applications/OOo-Printerdialog - latest printerpullpages cws build
/Applications/OpenOffice.org.app - 3.1.1

I can send mails only with 3.1.1 but not with 3.2.0 RC3 and the cws build.

I don't know if this indeed is a showstopper for 3.2.0 but it should be fixed
vor 3.2.1

On Mac OS X 10.6.1 Impress fails to play any sound file or even sound effects
that come with OpenOffice.org

- start an impress
- create an object
- assign a slide transition and choose a sound for the transition
- assign an object effect and choose a sound for the object effect.
- neither with play (preview) nor in the presentation are sounds.

This is a regression between Mac OS X 10.5.x and Mac OS X 10.6.x which is likely
due to the change from Quicktime 7.x in 10.5.x to Quicktime X in 10.6.x which
may also caused a change in the Quicktime API that OOo uses to playback sound.

Since sound is considered an important feature in Impress by certain groups of
users I would like to nominate this as a showstopper for OpenOffice.org on Mac
OS X

Does cutting a line in Neo work? Or not?

And if you find more issues with OOo on the Mac please tell them to us, so that
we can fix them as well as this one.

If you don't want to file issues you still may send an email to my OOo
Emailadress , simply use maveric and add openoffice.org, and I see if I can
forward the mail to other so that we can file issue and try to reproduce the
errors. Thanks in advance.

As you may see I am able to reproduce your issue and I'm also confused why the
issues happens on my Mac and not on the ones of your friend and the ones that fs
tested on. Since clipboard issues seem to get fixed in 3.0.1 and 3.1 chances are
that this issues also gets fixed.

While it is your right to go back to Neo I myself would encourage you to please
help us fix this bug with ongoing testing once a possible solution is in a child
workspace and builds are available.

@fs: We might want to try OS X Screensharing or something similar and you could
see the crash on my Mac.

I just ran into this issue with a native odt Document which is saved as a Word
.doc for some friends who don't have OOo installed.

Since the original Document had a space in it, eg Document Movie 01.doc I used
the same naming for the native odt Document. Document Movie 02.odt. When I now
hit the Document as E-Mail button in Standard Toolbar nothing happens.

Again nothing happens when I use Send out of the File Menu. I tried to use
Send - Document as E-Mail
Send - E-mail as Open Document Text
Send - E-mail as Microsoft Word
Send - E-mail as PDF

Neither does Mail start and show the document attached nor does anything else
happen.

If Mail is open at the time I try to send the document it won't come to front
and show me a blank new E-mail with the document attached.

When I rename the document to Document_Movie_02 every above mentioned way of
sending as E-mail works.

Adding myself and loria to CC.

@loria: Could you pleae try to verify if the issue indeed only occures when
there is a space or any non a-z and 0-9 chars in the file name?

@fs:
Did you read what Mechtilde wrote? That's a pretty good step by step instruction
but anyway I try to do my very best to be more specific.

1. Start OOo

2. Create a new Database

3. Let OOo register the new database

4. Select Tables in the left hand Database Menusection

5. Select Create Table in Design View

6. A new windows occures showing you a blank table design screen with Field
Name, Field Type and Description as the headers and the cursor blinking in the
first empty column beneath Field Name.

7. Now type Test 1 as Field Name and leave Text [VARCHAR] as the Field Type

8. Go to the next new line and enter Test 2 in as the Field Name.

9. Continue till Test 5 as Field Name

10. Now mark the Test 5 row so that it is light blue highlighted

11. Do a right mouse click in the field where you see the green arrow.

12. A context menu appears showing Cut, Copy, Delete, Insert Rows, Primary Key.

13. Select Cut

14. OOo freezes and crashes after a few seconds.

This is OOo 3.0.0 Build 9358 en-US downloaded from the german gwdg Mirror.
md5sum matches is correct so the download isn't corrupted. I double checked with
the same OOo version downloaded from rwth-aachen Mirror and this one also
crashes.

I assume that those are the builds that sun made. I haven't tried it with an
en-US Intel build from Maho yet but I can if you like me to.

Hope this helps.

@fs: this is most likely a Mac OS X only issue. And maybe Mac OS X Intel or
10.5.x or 10.5.x on Intel only.

Out of curiosity I just renamed my user profile under ~/Application
Support/OpenOffice.org/3/ and let OOo create a new one but the issue remains.
OOo crashes.

Are there any further steps that may help us in tracking down why OOo crashes
here under Mac OS X and not under Linux or Windows?

I tried to but I cannot verify this issue. Running OOo 3.0 final under Mac OS X
10.5.5 with all the latest Softareupdates on a Mac Mini with Intel Chipset
Graphics the Startcenter, as you cann see in the attached Screenshot, shows the
four buttons in full.

I tried it with an existing user who already had some dev-builds and RCs
installed as well as with an user who previously hadn't had OOo installed.

Maybe this bug is related to the graphic card driver. It is known that Apple
graphic card drivers are not the best ones out there.

@kgwritenow

Please verify with the latest change ericb2 did.

For me this works but only the first start. If I close OOo via File-Quit and
start it a second time the whole OOo seems to be slowed down, not significantly
but noticeable.

However if I close X11 too and let OOo start both X11 and OOo I'm back to full
speed.

Strange.

With the tl61 build from the O3 buildbot OOo 3.0 no longer crashes under
Mandriva.

@eskroni: Please download the build from
http://termite.go-oo.org/install_sets/O3-build-3327-tl61-install_set.zip and
test it so that it not only runs on my Mandriva 2008.1

Please integrate this cws or the fix into the final OOo 3.0

@ul: I have the same problems as Sigrid has in a different Mandriva setup.

I have Mandriva 2008.1 together with KDE 3.5.9. I installed OOO300_m2 and after
the launch I can do nothing but take a look at the open OOo. Each action equal
if it's opening a document or typing some text I causes OOo to crash.

It looks like I'm not able to send a crash report I just get the file recovery
dialog. Is there a chance for me to get an error code or something similar?

The only think I got was this output on the console:
# An unexpected error has been detected by Java Runtime Environment:
#
# SIGSEGV (0xb) at pc=0xae34, pid=15193, tid=3047302848
#
# Java VM: OpenJDK Client VM (1.7.0-b24 mixed mode linux-x86)
# Problematic frame:
# C 0xae34
#

I first thought it is because of the icedtea but the same happens with Sun Java
1.6.0 Update 5 which is the latest Sun Java Mandriva provides. Shall I try
Update 7?

I've never seen this happen here on my Mac. I use Mac OS X 10.5.4 with OOo 3.0
Beta2, DEV300_m24 and a 2.4.1 X11 version.

Did you already backup ~/Application Support/OpenOffice.org-aqua/ or try a new
user. In both cases OOo creates a new user profile so that older settings cannot
interfere with a newer version of OOo.

Please download one of the above mentioned 3.0 or DEV Milestones and report
again if the problem still occurs.

You don't use any tweaking tools that make Aqua behave in a non-standard way?

Using OpenOffice.org 2.4.1 X11 and Xquartz 2.2.3 from
http://xquartz.macosforge.org/trac/wiki I can copy and paste between Mac OS X
and X11 OpenOffice.org and vice versa between X11 OOo and a native OS X
Application. It also works with 2.4.0.

Therefore closing this issue as Worksforme.

If the issue still occurs further investigations from other Mac developers may
be done.

I also suggest that the report does a backup of ~/Application
Support/OpenOffice.org2 and OpenOffice.org so that older user settings won't
interfere with the new 2.4.1

Please test again with latest Beta2 or DEV300_m24 Milestone Build of
OpenOffice.org 3.0 for Aqua.

It would also help to provide screenshots that shows the what-should-not-be
behaviour and one (out of another app) that shows the what-should-be.

If the issue still occurs in either Beta2 or DEV300_m24 let us now and we again
try to verify this issue. For the moment closing the issue as Worksforme.

There are still other issues concerning fonts. We are working on this, please be

I think what Alex wants is that we can use webdav with the the native finder

I think therefore we should close this issue because saving on webdav is
possible and open a new issue that deals with the native finder dialogue not
able to save to webdav folders.

Please provide information on how you start OpenOffice.org.

There is a known issue with the Startup Script under Mac OS X 10.5.x. This can
be fixed by following the instructions under
http://shaunmcdonald131.blogspot.com/2008/03/ooo-possible-fix-for-command-timed-out.html

Please also try the latest 2.4.1 for X11 and fix it as described in the blog
posting or take DEV300_m24 for Aqua and see if the issues still exists.

In Beta2 and DEV300_m24 I don't see this behaviour any longer. I would like to
close this issue as Worksforme but I want to wait until the reporter provides
feedback if the issue still occures for him with newer builds or not.

Therefore I recommend the reporter of this issue to download and test again with
either Beta2 or DEV300_m24. Since Beta1 improvements to the displaying documents
have been made.

Confirmed with a Lexmark Optra E312 Postscript printer that uses the Generic PS
Printer Driver out of Mac OS X 10.5.4 on Mac Intel.

Whenever you select First Page from Tray 1 or for me in german it is called
Einzelblattzufuhr in the native printer dialogue paper feed option and leave
Remaining from on Tray 2 the printer ignores this and takes both sites out
of Tray 1.

Since my Lexmark uses the generic PS printer driver I have no other options then
the ones provided by the printer dialogue so I cannot set a try in
Format-Paper.

Also renaming the Summary to hopefully reflect better what this issue is about.

Mac OS X 10.5.4 Intel Mac. All installed fonts appear in the font drop down
list. Since I don't have the mentioned Myriad Roman nor any other Postscrip Type
1 Font it will be hard to verify this issue.

A test with a free PS Font from http://uatype.faithweb.com/ shows that the Font
appears in the OOo Font list after a restart of OpenOffice.org and can be used
like any other font.

Confirmed with DEV300_24. Animated gifs are slower in Mac OS X Aquaversion
compared to the X11 version. Not only on PPC but also on Intel.

However I find the slowed down animation in Aqua OOo for me matches the
animation when using the gif in a html website.

So the question arises if this is an issue at all or not?

OOo is currently not able to render OpenType fonts, see issue
http://qa.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=16032 for more details.

There is also a possible relation with issue #88192 which describes problems
incorrect assignments of OpenType fonts under Aqua.

maveric--hdu

Could you please take a look if this issue is related with issue #88192 or a
seperate issue

[sw-issues] [Issue 89445] Greek and Maths symbols ar e private in Formula Editor

[EMAIL PROTECTED]: For Mac OS X this is clearly a P2 issue. On Windows and
Linux you
may be able to use Math even if the chars aren't correclty displayed but on Mac
there are currently no chars and symbols for certain formular elements shown at
all.

Simply download or let you show any recent Mac OS X Aqua build and see if you
can create all the formular you can with Linux and Windows.

Besides bad greek chars we have no { } and other symbols.

It would be nice to distinguish between displaying greek symbols correct and
non-showing symbols and chars at all and here the latter is the case.

maveric-tl: Sorry I'm just an user and not a coder, so I can't help fixing this
problem when it comes to coding.

maveric-hdu: The issue still occurs in m16 in which aquavcl07 should be
integrated. If you want to I can test again with m18.

maveric-regina: Even though the issues may be related there are two problems
here. I just asked Mechtilde to test it under Debian and she confirmed that
Linux shows the { } and the greek symbols where Mac OS X shows neither.

Raising priority to P2 because Math is more or less useless when a formula lacks
symbols or shows them incorrectly.

Also adding myself, rbircher and tbo to CC.

Raising priority since this issues will become more important once the next X11
update is out with the next Mac OS X 10.5.x update, which will be before the
2.4.1 release.

Even if the average mac user at the moment only sees a command time out the
situation will change once the next updates of X11, which already can be
downloaded from http://trac.macosforge.org/projects/xquartz really prevent OOo
from launching. I launched OOo and waited about two minutes for the timeout
message, confirmed this message with OK and waited another 30 minutes one time
and an hour the second time but OOo wouldn't come up.

See the comment from smsm1 for the fix. Additionally an apple employee suggested
to check from OS version to Is $DISPLAY set?

Any chance to get this fixed for 2.4.1?

added 87538 as it pretends OOo X11 to launch under Mac OS X 10.5.2 when using

the time to do so.

Yes. m2 was build using Tiger. So you're right that the bug is caused by
Leopards flex. Is there a chance to get this fixed for the Leopard flex?

@helgekraak: Could you please tell us which Mac OS X version you are using and
if it's PPC or Intel.

I downloaded the attached test_base.odb and I can open and edit it with
OOODEV300_m2 under Mac OS X 10.5.2 Intel.

As stated earlier in the comments this may be a PPC only issue and perhaps even
a 10.4.x only issue.

We need more information on this one. An unusable Basemodule in the native PPC
Port wouldn't be any good.

Looks like this issue also effects the mapping Alt and Command (Apple) in the
Mac OS X X11 build of OOH680_m6.

For me Command (Apple)+S works while Command+Shift+F for fett (bold) does not.
Same with the alt key. Alt+L for @ works while Alt+E for € won't.

This is a german Mac OS X build of OOH680_m6.

We're waiting for the integration of the fix to see if also fixes the Mac OS X
issues.

Currently the only known Java Issues are with Mac OS X 10.5 aka Leopard.

For Mac OS X 10.4.10 OpenOffice.org 2.3.0 X11 or 2.2.1 are recommended and both
2.3.0 and 2.2.1 don't show the described behaviour on my Mac with Intel CoreDuo
Processor.

Even the latest Aqua Milestone 233 I compiled myself doesn't show the described
error message when opening and a base document.

In order to accept the issue we need more informations from the reporter about
his configuration and which OpenOffice.org version he downloaded and which
processor Intel or PowerPC he has in his Mac.

The reporte should also check his Java Environment.

@jimwg: Does this happen with all the documents you export to RTF or just every

I'm asking because for m233 Aqua Intel and OOo 2.3.0 X11 on Intel I cannot
confirm the issue.

OOo Aqua shows

As of m233 when building OOo on Mac OS X you have to explictly use --disable-gtk
when you're building with --disable-build-mozilla.

Since gtk on the Mac most of the times is only needed when building Mozilla
within OOo -disable-gtk should be default when using --disable-build-mozilla.

If you want gtk support but still want to use --without-build-mozilla it could
be thought of an --enable-gtk for Mac OS X.

When building native OOo on Mac OS X gtk is only needed if you build mozilla as
well.

In addition you also have to explicit use -disable-gtk if no gtk is installed at
all.

A second build with real clean sources in a complete different directory no
longer shows the mentioned behaviour.

Sun Report Builder can be installed and the build extension has the license
text.

Did a second test with official Mac OS X11 binaries from maho to verify that the
extension works.

If rbircher confirms this issue can be closed.

Created and attachment that shows the output of gdb.

when starting OOo in gdb mode OOo does not crash but freezes. When starting OOo
the normal way OOo exits.

I used clean OOG680_m3 sources for the build but I can do a second checkout and
build again to verify the issue.

I will also try and install the extension out of the mentioned unxmac*
directory.

maveric-fl: Did you use Create Report in Design View? Using the wizard
doesn't cause OOo to crash.

maveric-fs: pjanik told me to recompile the libraries using --enable-dbgutil
so I did this.

An OOG680_m3 with sources as of today morning and without --enable-dbgutil is
currently building on this Mac but will take a while to finish it's just in the
fourth module or so.

As mechtilde wrote: I used the GUI to install the extension. I installed it as a
user extension.

maveric-fs: Using clean sources as of today and a freshly compiled OOo it
doesn't crash when using the Sun Report Builder extension or any other
extension. Looks like it was me checking out m3 sources too early.

I'll let others do some testing with this build and if they confirm that it
works for them too, we can close this issue.

When I try to install the sun report builder extension that is build with OOo I
get an error: Cannot find a localized license text or a default license text.
But this is maybe another issue.

@cwingrav: Please attach a document that let us reproduce the issue to this
issue.

I have opened a final exam with 153 pages and 50+ pictures in both Aqua and X11
OOo.

X11 OOo was 2.2.1

Aqua OOo was SRC680_m225

Sure the opening takes a while but it was under a minute and scrolling was
fluently as well.

Using a self compiled OOG680_m3 X11 version on my Intel Mac Mini I can install
the Sun Report Builder extension from
http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/project/reportdesign

When I try to use it by clicking on Create Report in Design View OOo seems to
load something but crashes after 15 seconds.

This is a MacMini with CoreDuo, 1,25GB of RAM, Mac OS X 10.4.10 with all the
latest secupdates etc pp.

Since OOo 1.0.3 for Mac OS X X11 is outdated and Aqua OOo on the rise we should

OOo 1.1.1 for Mac OS X is kind of outdated and no longer available for
download.

In addition there is a new readme for 2.x and openstep doesn't work on OOo any
longer.

Therefore closing this issue as invalid

Installer is no longer in use but OOo 1.1.2 is currently available as legacy
build for Mac OS X 10.2.8 users.

Could someone still using 10.2.8 please see if this bug really exists? Otherwise
the issue must be closed.

Last time I checked installing packages the way it's described here I had no
crash with OOo 2.2.0 on Mac OS X 10.4.9 Intel.

Please verify if this could be a PPC only issue or not.

After some more testing I figured out that only presentations having more than
one slide crash. If that's the case it makes no difference if you have twenty or
two slides.

In addition the bug is also reproducable if I use an old StarOffice 5.2 or
OpenOffice.org 1.x presentation.

Strange.

One of Uwe Altmann's presentations with only one slide makes OOo crash too. So
it may have nothing to do with the actual number of slides.

When importing the attached ppt out of the TCM Test Case for impress two error
occur with a german version of OOo 2.1RC2 for Mac OS X 10.4.8 Intel and X11
1.1.3 installed.

The first issue is on the second slide. Instead of the roman numbers that are
expected you see hooks for numbering.

The second issue is on the third slide. Instead of the EU logo that is used for
numbering you see smileys. Be aware the smileys are watermarks and difficult to
see as they are light grey.

According to users having access to MS Powerpoint both issues won't occure when
opening the ppt in MS Powerpoint. I couldn't verify it myself since I have no
Powerpoint neither for Mac nor for Windows.
