Thanks for verification.

Thanks for info about the CWS ucbfixes04. I'll provide the corresponding change
for neon-0.24 (probably in January).

Fixed in CWS pmladek08.

The diff has been applied without any change. I have successfully build the CWS
with both internal and system neon. It worked well for me...

kso: Would you mind to verify the fix in the CWS?

I'll attach few additional fixes for binfilter, bridges, ...

The patch will not duplicate the fixes from the previous one. It will only
include a better (architecture independent) fix for
basic/source/comp/codegen.cxx.

Some more info about the proposed patch:

The autodetection flag is read in jfw_getSelectedJRE in
jvmfwk/source/framework.cxx from
~/.openoffice.org2/user/config/javasettings_Linux_x86.xml. It is the
autoSelect=true item.

Therefore the JFW_E_TRY_AUTOSELECT error flag should be processed by any method
calling jfw_getSelectedJRE. I know that it might not be possible everywhere, so
I mentioned if possible in the error description.

It is currently processed a special way only in
jvmfwk/plugins/sunmajor/javaenvsetup/javaldx.cxx. If the error happens, javaldx
continues and calls jfw_findAndSelectJRE.

It works for me. I haven't found any problems with it so far.

To be honest, I do not understand the jwmfvk code perfectly... I agree that my
fix is not 100% clean but I think that it is not so bad.

One more problem with the current architecture is that it detects and uses java
different ways. For example, the 64-bit build is able to start 32-bit java and
detect it. Then the 32-bit libjvm.so can't be dlopened in the 64-bit
application.

javaldx does not detect another JRE when the older one is removed.

Note that it might happen even after a minor update. For example, an update of
Sun JRE from the version 1.5.0_update12 to 1.5.0_update13 if they are installed
into a full versioned directories (JPackage style...)

I'll attach a possible fix. It starts the autodetection only when it is enabled.
I did not want to hide the problem when the user configured any Java yourself.

A better solution would be to do it always and inform user about the change. I
am not sure how to pass a message from javaldx to the user, though.

As discussed with pl on irc, I have opened the new issue #82997 for the vcl
part. It would be needed for a proper handling of the PNG file.

I have also opened the issue #82995 for the strange behavior of the new

We have discussed with pl and thb on irc when the operator new throws
std::bad_alloc exception and when it returns NULL pointer instead. It went out
that it is system dependant.

If the code is compiled with -fno-exceptions -DEXCEPTIONS_OFF, the NULL pointer
is returned on Windows but the exception is still thrown on Linux.

The problem is related to he Linux-specific implementation of the operator new
in sal/cpprt/operators_new_delete.cxx.

The current behavior is error prone and makes the error handling more
complicated. Could it be somewhat synchronized?

Note, the discussion started because of the fix for the issue #82970.

This issue if forked from the issue #82970. We discussed it on irc yesterday.

It is pity if OOo crashes when user tries to load a huge picture and there is
not enough memory for it. It might also happen when there is a broken file with
broken dimensions...

We could define some limits into each graphics format file filter. But what
should be these limits?

I think that the best solution would be to catch this situation directly in
X11SalBitmap::ImplCreateDIB when the memory is allocated. Though, it would need
to add a proper error handling of this situation. For example, it should not
happen that a picture is lost when a document is opened and saved.

I'll attach two malformed pictures with wrong dimensions. OOo tried to allocate
too much memory and crashed.

I'll also attach a proposed fix. Here are some more details about it:

+ svtools/source/filter.vcl/filter/filter.cxx

+ the changes in this file are enough to fix the crash with the tiff
  file.
+ OOo read malformed informations and tried to allocate too much memory

+ goodies/source/filter.vcl/itiff/itiff.cxx
+ goodies/source/filter.vcl/itiff/makefile.mk

+ adds more try/catch stuff to the itiff reader
+ note the second hunk for itiff.cxx; it fixes evident mistake caused
by the last change; the following code did not make sense:

   if ( !nNumStripByteCounts )
nNumStripByteCounts = 0;

+ vcl/unx/source/gdi/salbmp.cxx
+ vcl/unx/source/gdi/makefile.mk

+ fixes the problem when it reads wrong dimmensions and tries to alloc
  too big Bitmap in TIFFReader::ReadTIFF:

aBitmap = Bitmap( Size( nImageWidth, nImageLength ),
  nDstBitsPerPixel );

Ah, I do not read [EMAIL PROTECTED] regularly.

I would need to maintain the neon-0.24.X support for some time because we have
this older version on SLED10, we still update OOo for this product...

neon-0.24.7 is more than 3 years old. I agree that it is a nightmare to maintain
support for too many older versions. We have to define the boundary somewhere. 3
years might be too much. The patch was nice to have it upstream. Feel free to

We still would like to build the latest OOo with the system neon on some older
distributions. I'll attach a patch that adds back the support for neon-0.24.X. I
think that this version is not so old...

One user has asked me if it would be possible to change the hotkey for
Soubor-Nahled strany back to h.

He is used to use Alt+S,h from the older OpenOffice.org versions and also from
MS Word.

The key 'h' is currently used for Soubor-Nahled v prohlížeči which is a
less interesting feature...

It works for me with the latest package on openSUSE-10.3.

- what distro are you using (openSUSE 10.3, 10.2, ...)
- what architecture (x86_64, i586, ...)

I'll attach a patch that fixes the build with IBM Java 1.5.0 on PPC.

It defines the correct paths in set_soenv.

It also includes a workaround for a bug in the IBM Java itself, see
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=306721 for more details.

The number variables (char, integer, ...) are unsigned by default on ppc. OOo
code is not clean, so it is temporary compiled with -fsigned-char.

I will attach a patch that fixes the signed/unsigned stuff in the module sw.

Note: It fixes the new warnings: comparison is always true/false that appeared
after one compiled the code without -fsigned-char.

The number variables (char, integer, ...) are unsigned by default on ppc. OOo
code is not clean, so it is temporary compiled with -fsigned-char.

I will attach a patch that fixes the signed/unsigned stuff in the module
binfilter.

Note: It fixes the new warnings: comparison is always true/false that appeared
after one compiled the code without -fsigned-char.

We have moved some noarch stuff to /usr/share and created compat symlinks as a
temporary soluton. RPM does not allow to create compat symlink for directories
during the package update, so I had to create compat symlinks for each single
file.

The symlinked help was not displayed correctly. Icons, help content and the .css
files were not read.

I'll attach a patch that fixes the problem.

Well, this usage of symlinks is not typical. I think that it is wort fixing,
though.

We have moved the helpcontent to /usr/share because it is an architecture
independent stuff. The help path is configured in registry, so it should be easy
to change it.

One problem is in sfx2/source/appl/sfxhelp.cxx where instapath/help is checked
intead of the real help path.

I'll attach a patch that fixes the problem. It uses
SvtPathOptions().GetHelpPath() to read the correct path. Unfortunately, this
function is broken. The patch includes a workaround but...

gij is not detected on openSUSE-10.3 on i586. There is used gij-4.2.1, so
/usr/lib/gcj-4.2.1/libjvm.so must be found.

It does not help to define the patch gcj-4.2.1/libjvm.so in
GnuInfo::getRuntimePaths in jvmfwk/plugins/sunmajor/pluginlib/gnujre.cxx
because the /usr/lib prefix is not longer defined in gnu.classpath.home.url

Instead the property java.library.path points to the directory with libjvm.so.

It might be a bug in the openSUSE-10.3 gij, see
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=303904

On the other hand, the property java.library.path sounds reasonable and it might
be worth to search it anyway.

I'll add a patch that searches the path defined by java.library.path property.
The first path in the list is enough at least on openSUSE-10.3.

Does anybody know what the file sfx2/util/svdbt.dll is for?

One problem is that it is a binary file. I can't find sources, so it breaks the
LGPL license. It seems to be unused anyway...

I have got the following warnings in the binfilter module in src680_m222:

--- cut ---
/usr/src/packages/BUILD/ooo-build-src680-m221d/build/src680-m222/binfilter/bf_svx/source/svdraw/svx_svdobj.cxx:2892:

The code is really broken. I'll attach a possible fix. I am not sure if the test
for NULL pointer is needed but it seems so...

pmladek-AS: I am sorry but you are not right. The changes, in the issue #47824,
are two years old. They allowed to disable the binfilter stuff at all. My
changes allow to build the binfilter but put it into an extra package. The patch
separates the filter-related registry files into two independent parts...

--- cut ---
_JNI_IMPORT_OR_EXPORT_

--- cut ---

The problem is that _JNI_IMPORT_OR_EXPORT_ is defined in jawt_md.h and
com_sun_star_beans_LocalOfficeWindow.c includes it after jawt.h

Yeah, it looks like a bug in the IBM Java.

On the other hand, the jawt.h includes a sample code where only jawt_md.h is
included. I have found this sample even in Sun JDK.

I have checked gcj, Sun JDK and IBM JDK. It seems that jawt_md.h includes the
other two: jawt.h and jni.h in all three implemtations. So, it should be enough
to include just the jawt_md.h.

I'll attach the proposed patch.

I believe you. I think that there is a bug in the IBM JDK 1.5.0.

Anyway, I think the includes in OOo are unnecessary complex. We could change the
order of jawt_md.h and jawt.h at least.

My parallel build crashed in svx/source/unodialogs/textconversiondlgs because of
missing chinese_direction.hrc. There seems to be a missing dependency.

I'll attach a fix for this.

The binfilter module is huge piece of code and there are many users who do not
need it. It would be great to split it into separate optional package.

I'll attach some patches that do the work. They somewhat work for me. Though, I
am not sure if I really cought all things.

My approach creates only one optional package, so it has to require all the
affected app modules: calc, draw, impress, math, and writer. It would be
possible to split it even more but...

The patches are taken from ooo-build where they are applied after the OOXML
stuff (native MS Office 2007 import filters). I hope that it will be integrated
soon. Feel free to ask me to update the patches if you want to play with them

The OOo installer, in the simple mode (make_installer.pl -simple path), calls
'cp' 'chmod', and 'ln' from the shell. It is is not much effective. It is
visible especially when installing OOo SDK that includes tons of small files.

I'll attach a patch that does these operations with native perl functions. It
speeds up the SDK installation on my machine from 6 minutes to 40 seconds.

I have renamed the variable to UNIXWRAPPERNAME, added the suggested comment, and
commited everything to CWS pmladek05.

It is again ready for QA ;-)

I have done additional small clean up, see the patch above.

obr promised to do qa for the sysui part.
kendy promised to check the config_office part. Especially that it does not
break the build on other platforms (Win, ...)

In the current implementation, openoffice and broffice share the desktop files.
The generated rpms just include symlinks to ooo-home/share/xdg

These desktop files in share/xdg are generated from sysui/desktop/share. Neither
UNIXFILENAME.openoffice.org nor UNIXFILENAME.broffice.org is used there. Instead
there was hardcoded '$${{UNIXPRODUCTNAME}}$${{PRODUCTVERSION}}'

= I changed it to a common variable UNIXFILENAME that is initialized to
'$${{UNIXPRODUCTNAME}}$${{PRODUCTVERSION}}' by default

Or did I miss anything?

Well, it would look nice if we update also UNIXFILENAME.openoffice.org,
UNIXFILENAME.broffice.org according to --with-unix-wrapper. The problem is that
variables with the dot in the name are not valid shell variables. We would need
to use some ugly .IF. .ENDIF stuff, ... I did want to make it so complicated. I
was really interested only into the common desktop files.

Is this acceptable for you or should I rework it somewhat?

What about UNIXWRAPPERNAME? The feature is UNIX-only-related. WRAPPER is more
clear than FILE...
