[udk-issues] [Issue 83140] Autodetect new JRE when th e older one is removed
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=83140 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Tue Nov 20 16:48:25 + 2007 --- Some more info about the proposed patch: The autodetection flag is read in jfw_getSelectedJRE in jvmfwk/source/framework.cxx from ~/.openoffice.org2/user/config/javasettings_Linux_x86.xml. It is the autoSelect=true item. Therefore the JFW_E_TRY_AUTOSELECT error flag should be processed by any method calling jfw_getSelectedJRE. I know that it might not be possible everywhere, so I mentioned if possible in the error description. It is currently processed a special way only in jvmfwk/plugins/sunmajor/javaenvsetup/javaldx.cxx. If the error happens, javaldx continues and calls jfw_findAndSelectJRE. It works for me. I haven't found any problems with it so far. To be honest, I do not understand the jwmfvk code perfectly... I agree that my fix is not 100% clean but I think that it is not so bad. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Note that it might happen even after a minor update. For example, an update of Sun JRE from the version 1.5.0_update12 to 1.5.0_update13 if they are installed into a full versioned directories (JPackage style...) I'll attach a possible fix. It starts the autodetection only when it is enabled. I did not want to hide the problem when the user configured any Java yourself. A better solution would be to do it always and inform user about the change. I am not sure how to pass a message from javaldx to the user, though. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. It went out that it is system dependant. If the code is compiled with -fno-exceptions -DEXCEPTIONS_OFF, the NULL pointer is returned on Windows but the exception is still thrown on Linux. The problem is related to he Linux-specific implementation of the operator new in sal/cpprt/operators_new_delete.cxx. The current behavior is error prone and makes the error handling more complicated. Could it be somewhat synchronized? We discussed it on irc yesterday. It is pity if OOo crashes when user tries to load a huge picture and there is not enough memory for it. It might also happen when there is a broken file with broken dimensions... We could define some limits into each graphics format file filter. But what should be these limits? I think that the best solution would be to catch this situation directly in X11SalBitmap::ImplCreateDIB when the memory is allocated. Though, it would need to add a proper error handling of this situation. For example, it should not happen that a picture is lost when a document is opened and saved. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. OOo tried to allocate too much memory and crashed. I'll also attach a proposed fix. Here are some more details about it: + svtools/source/filter.vcl/filter/filter.cxx + the changes in this file are enough to fix the crash with the tiff file. + OOo read malformed informations and tried to allocate too much memory + goodies/source/filter.vcl/itiff/itiff.cxx + goodies/source/filter.vcl/itiff/makefile.mk + adds more try/catch stuff to the itiff reader + note the second hunk for itiff.cxx; it fixes evident mistake caused by the last change; the following code did not make sense: if ( !nNumStripByteCounts ) nNumStripByteCounts = 0; + vcl/unx/source/gdi/salbmp.cxx + vcl/unx/source/gdi/makefile.mk + fixes the problem when it reads wrong dimmensions and tries to alloc too big Bitmap in TIFFReader::ReadTIFF: aBitmap = Bitmap( Size( nImageWidth, nImageLength ), nDstBitsPerPixel ); - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. There is used gij-4.2.1, so /usr/lib/gcj-4.2.1/libjvm.so must be found. It does not help to define the patch gcj-4.2.1/libjvm.so in GnuInfo::getRuntimePaths in jvmfwk/plugins/sunmajor/pluginlib/gnujre.cxx because the /usr/lib prefix is not longer defined in gnu.classpath.home.url Instead the property java.library.path points to the directory with libjvm.so. It might be a bug in the openSUSE-10.3 gij, see https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=303904 On the other hand, the property java.library.path sounds reasonable and it might be worth to search it anyway. I'll add a patch that searches the path defined by java.library.path property. The first path in the list is enough at least on openSUSE-10.3. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. It is is not much effective. It is visible especially when installing OOo SDK that includes tons of small files. I'll attach a patch that does these operations with native perl functions. It speeds up the SDK installation on my machine from 6 minutes to 40 seconds. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=75366 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Tue Jun 19 12:31:09 + 2007 --- In the current implementation, openoffice and broffice share the desktop files. The generated rpms just include symlinks to ooo-home/share/xdg These desktop files in share/xdg are generated from sysui/desktop/share. Neither UNIXFILENAME.openoffice.org nor UNIXFILENAME.broffice.org is used there. Instead there was hardcoded '$${{UNIXPRODUCTNAME}}$${{PRODUCTVERSION}}' = I changed it to a common variable UNIXFILENAME that is initialized to '$${{UNIXPRODUCTNAME}}$${{PRODUCTVERSION}}' by default Or did I miss anything? Well, it would look nice if we update also UNIXFILENAME.openoffice.org, UNIXFILENAME.broffice.org according to --with-unix-wrapper. The problem is that variables with the dot in the name are not valid shell variables. We would need to use some ugly .IF. .ENDIF stuff, ... I did want to make it so complicated. I was really interested only into the common desktop files. Is this acceptable for you or should I rework it somewhat? - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
