Linked illustration, after exchanging (or even a crash?) are no longer linked.
Writer replaces all links of
this type:

file:///Users/myname/Documents/

with links of this type:

file:///Documents/

Or, links like this:

file:///Users/myname/Documents/Company Manuals/MP
Series/MP10100Full/Illustrations/Layout/Image.tif

are shortened to something like this:

file:///Users/myname/Documents/Company Manuals/Illustrations/Layout/Image.tif

Original file made with a Mac. The various versions of OpenOffice (on Mac and
Win) are all at the latest
version. The problem happens both with files received from a Mac and a PC.

Thanks, Norbert. My plan was to avoid depending on the big ones for my job,
after the demise of
FrameMaker for Mac, the under-development of the Windows version, and
Microsoft's choice of making a
once professional word processor like Word a tool for writing office letters.
Since this is not a forum, I
would only like to underline the importance of some features to actually make
Writer a replacement of
FrameMaker and Word; support for vector graphics is an essential one.

This is a major issue for me, since most of my graphics files are vector
graphics (the only way to have
professional looking illustrations). This problem breaks my dream of replacing
FrameMaker with
OpenOffice - something that could otherwise have been done.

On the Mac, I found a partial workaround, that at least lets me print the
illustratios to a PDF file.
However, this solution doesn't seem to export PDF bookmarks as well, making the
resulting PDF file
unsuitable for any kind of reference materials.

Instead of exporting, I printed it to PDF using the PDF driver (I guess it is
the Adobe PDF driver that
comes standard with the Mac, but it could have been installed by the Creative
Suite, I don't know for
sure).

Paolo

Choose Insert Cross-reference, and then Headings. You will see the list of
all paragraphs formatted with
a Heading [1...n] style.
Currently, the list is flat: all headings are on the same level. It would help
very much, in long and
articulated documents, if the same hyerarchical view used in the Navigator
could be used to display the
cross-reference targets.

Currently, if you want to replace a cross-references, you must delete it and
re-enter it entirely.
If would be easier if clicking with a modifier key, or choosing a command from
the context-menu, would
let you go to the Insert Cross-reference dialogue again, with the current
target selected. Here, you
could choose a different target, that might be the nearest one.

Hi,

I want to start all new chapters on a right (odd numbered) page. I understand
this should be done by
using a Righ Only page style at each new chapter.

It would be much easier if a Page Break also allowed to specify the new page
position. This could be
included in the paragraph style, and automatically break the text and let it
flow to the next right page
each time the Chapter style is found.

1) Edit the Chapter paragraph style.
2) In Text Flow, specify there is a page break before, and that it is of the
Next Right Page type.
3) Apply the Chapter paragraph style to the first line of the new chapter.
4) The new chapter begins in the next right page.

This does not allow for different headings/footers, and a diffrerent page style
in general, but changing
page style is not always needed when starting a new chapter. However, this
seems a much easier way of
starting chapters on a defined page.

Thank you, very clear. I would indeed find very useful being able to resize
even the top and left borders by
dragging, with auomatical adaptation of the position of the contained image. Do
I need to file a new
enhancement request, or can this be considered as a request itself?

When you drag a frame margin to resize it, the margins that are actually
resized are the lower and right
one. For example, drag the top margin, and you'll see that the space changing
is the on the lower margin.
This makes very long and laborious to reposition several different objects in a
frame.

Selecting objects of different types inside a frame (for example another frame
and a picture) is currently
not allowed. Being able to select multiple objects of different types would
allow a greater speed and
precision when editing the content of a frame.

Hi Regina, just to understand if it's an operator fault on my side:

1) I drag the right handle, and the right border changes.
2) I drag the left handle, and the right border is canged.

It seems that there is no differencd, whether the included image is anchored to
the frame or the
paragraph. May you plese give it a look at the attached file?

Also, I wrote this is an issue on all systems, but maybe I should have

Hi Regina, I tried the settings you suggested, but I think to have understood
that what I want is
probably the contrary of what OOo is meant to do.

- When changing its position parameters, OOo repositions the image contained in
a frame.
- What I would like to do, is to resize the containing frame, without moving
the contained image. I
would like to be able to do it, because of the following scenario:
   a) You insert a picture in a frame, leaving space on top for a callout.
   b) In the end, you decide that callout is not needed; then, you want to
change the top border, to
remove the blank space you left for the callout you decided not to include.

This change could not be needed, in case a multiple selection of different
objects inside a frame is
implemented. However, I find it more intuitive if grabbing the border of a
frame resizes that border,
and not a different one. The attached images should explain what I mean.

Paolo

Contray to ordinary text, callout and text boxes cannot be applied paragraph
and/or character styles.
As a consequence, changing the face of large amount of callout or text boxes
cannot be done all in a
single pass, but must be done by editing each callout or text box.

I would like the paragraph and character style pop-up menu could be added to
the formatting bar
when editing callout text or text boxes.

1) Select a callout or text box.
2) Click on the text to edit it.
3) When the formatting bar appears, the paragraph and character styles are
there, as with regular text.

Pasting in a table cell (at least, in a document generated with ver. 1.x) resets
the formatting to Left-Top alignment.
This does not seem to happen with documents created in Neo 2.0.
It doesn not only happen when pasting, but also when doing manual changes to the
cell's content. See attached document.

Currently, when closing the Spelling Checker window, the display jumps where you
left the text edit cursor before opening it.

I suggest you move the cursor at the last edit, i.e., at the word that you last
corrected with the spelling checker.

I always find myself closing the Spelling Checker window to do other edits in
the surrounding area, and have to search for the last edited text.

Best regards,
Paolo
using NeoOffice/J

An additional though. Better atain, it would be if the text edit cursor remains
at the last selected word. For example, I could have found a mistake with the
speclling checker, but none of the hints are satisfactory.

At shi point, I can close the spelling checker window, and do my edits by hand,
with the mistaken word still selected.

Or, you could allow text editing even with the spelling checker open - as it
happens with the Search and Replace window.

I could not find an exact match for Select to end of paragraph to which
I could set a shortcut - please advise on how to set that shortcut.

I'm sorry, but I did a rough back-translation... The correct chortcut's name
should be:

Navigate Select to paragraph end

Could you remove the shortcut, and reproduce the problem without using the
shortcut?

If I remove it, I cannot select whole paragraphs: I must select line after line.
And no, in this case the problem cannot be reproduced.

The xmodmap command gave me this log:

shift Shift_L (0x40), Shift_R (0x44)
lockCaps_Lock (0x41)
control Control_L (0x43), Control_R (0x46)
mod1Mode_switch (0x42), Mode_switch (0x45)
mod2Meta_L (0x3f)
mod3
mod4
mod5

Do you have access to a US Domestic keyboard?

No, I'm sorry, but I'll try with the OS in English.

When saving a text document in Word 97 format, the attached graphics sample
(created with NeoOffice 1.1b/p5 - i.e., OpenOffice Mac 1.1.3) is damaged. When
opening the text file again, the diagram looks different.

[sw-issues] [Issue 41048] Selecting text and a table crashes the app

To cause the crash, do the following:

1. Go to the beginning of the Edit pages on page 8.
2. Use Cmd (or Ctrl in OOo 1.1.2 Mac/X11) + Shift + Down Arrow to select the
text. (I assigned this shortcut to the Select to the end of the paragraph
command.)
3. Select down to the table. OOo should crash, producing the crashlog I'm
uploading.

This happens with both NeoOffice 1.1b/p4 (OOo 1.1.3) and OOo 1.1.2 Mac/X11. I'm
using the standard 1-button mouse from Apple on a G4/867 running OSX 1.3.7. The
keyboard is Italian Pro (the newer, non-ISO layout).
