[sw-issues] [Issue 104221] Incorrect spacing as some characters are incorrectly treated as diacrit ics

U+FB1E, the "Judeo-Spanish-Varika" is a diacritic sign used in Judeo-Spanish texts instead of the Hebrew-Rafe (U+05BF). I agree that marks properties should be part of the font and not of OO itself. Diacritics should be recognized by having zero width. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [l10n-issues] [Issue 105021] Hebrew "maqaf" U+05BE mis positioned in versions 3.1.x
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=105021 --- Additional comments from yor...@openoffice.org Sun Sep 13 07:18:53 + 2009 --- This and issue 104221 are the same. Sorry, I did not find the other report. The issue, however appears not only in writer but in all OO applications on Linux. I checked it on Windows (XP) and the bug is not seen there. This bug, causes another problem. Hebrew text that includes vowel marks and or cantillation marks can not be properly adjusted to both sides on versions 3.10 and on. If however one makes a global change of "maqaf" to hyphen the adjustment problem disappears. Strangely enough the maladjustment problem does appear in Windows versions of OO as well. If needed I can attach samples. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=105021 --- Additional comments from yor...@openoffice.org Sat Sep 12 15:07:34 + 2009 --- The Hebrew "Maqaf" is similar to hyphen (except of the height of the sign, near the high edge of a letter rather the in mid hight). It is used to connect words to a single term like in: "Beyt-Sefer". Bayt = home, Sefer = book => Beyt-Sefer = school. In everyday life, the Latin hyphen is commonly used. In books however, especially in poetry and of course in liturgical books the traditional maqaf is used. With this bug present only very trivial Hebrew documents can be edited with OO. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. The "maqaf" is used in Hebrew just as a hyphen in Latin alphabets and should behave just like it. It was properely positioned in all versions till 3.0.1 including. In version 3.1.x the "maqaf" positions itself on the letter that follows it and the cursor positions itself far after the following letter.
