[sw-issues] [Issue 49632] Replace Default by Text Body in first paragraph of new document
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=49632 --- Additional comments from yur...@openoffice.org Thu Dec 16 08:35:57 + 2010 --- Alternatively, make the Default style (mother of all styles) unappliable. There're already lots of recomendations to use 'text body', not 'default'. Or present the user with the option of removing the text body (currently, the default set of styles is immutable). Or make the option of mass-changing the style references in style definitions. Generally, free the user from necessity to deal with two functionally equivalent text styles. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Possibly, it is lagging in MathType language version, or something. This is still an issue in 3.3.* and a major pain, too. #22353 and #50130 are duplicates of this. The #69385 is related to this. E.g., the constructs of form A_b and A^b, and wideslash instruction do not survive the conversion -- former change to rSub and rSup, latter is turned to garbage. Also, the MathType to Word conversion routine completely disregards the formula font size, whether it is set in user settings, or in the installation-wide main.xcd, or in the formula itself (size ? {}). [sw-issues] [Issue 96041] cross-references break per manently if reference source goes away, even f or a moment
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=96041 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Tue Nov 18 19:23:49 + 2008 --- Seems to be fixed in DEV300_m35, whether intentionally or not. Generally, the problem was the footnote reference point was being irreversibly lost if cut, even if pasted back immediately. All xrefs were getting corrupted after that. Also, it wasn't possible to copy the xref to footnote to another document and then, e.g., create the footnote with appropriate name there, to sort of make xrefs valid (copying the footnote didn't work, too). In a word, footnotes were sort of immovable and references to those were sort of unusable outside the document where created. Would be great to make a note to keep the problem fixed. Was it sort of one-time effect, resulting from miscalculations accumulating or was it accidentally corrected? Now I experience bug with vertical scrolling instead: when using cursor up/dn or page up/ dn to scroll (long document), the screen often gets partially corrupted in the narrow horizontal strip -- which, as it *seems to me*, for page scrolls shows what was at the respective horizontal edge of the WYSIWIG area before the last scrolling step. And sometimes this strip lingers for a bit and only then gets correctly redrawn. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Restoring the reference source (footnote) does not restore the cross-references. The sequence number of the previously referenced footnote is retained, however. In the long document, with lots of footnotes and cross-references referencing those, I often get paragraphs which are rendered with the incorrect amount of vertical space, resulting in horizontal cut off of the paragraph at the bottom. In such a paragraph the vertical scrolling by cursor arrow 'Down' stops at certain line, but cursor key 'Right' allows for cursor to proceed further in line and down the line. Such a paragraph may be corrected (but only pro tem), e.g., by entering any character in it. Only lines with new input and below are affected. Such paragraph may revert to uncorrected form if paged out of view and then into view, or after the file re-reading. Coming into existence of such paragraphs seems to correlate with presence of cross- references referencing footnotes in them. I couldn't yet find the paragraph showing the phenomenon and not having any kind of cross-ref in it. Using different fonts for the paragraphs seems to correlate with the strength of the phenomenon: with URW Palladio, it is scarcely noticeable, with Gentium and Linux Libertine, it is strongly noticeable. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [ui-issues] [Issue 84950] making choices about inter face font does not work
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=84950 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thu Mar 13 14:44:30 + 2008 --- If I understood this right, this intentional change actually represents a drastic and dubiously motivated regression of usability, then. *What is the purpose* of completely taking away the functionality of selecting the application UI font, style and metrics, which even the simpliest X app possesses?? There was no way to fully control UI font metrics even before, and the system font check-box was being ignored in OOO for a while. Now, it's always the unchangeable font and unchangeable metric — even without fc-match, I had quite a good impression of what gets selected here (DejaVu Sans, style:Book). So now the font's selected via fontconfig mechanisms. Very very big deal. First, the font is not as easy on eyes, as some fonts which I'd prefer to use (and actually use in other apps, and was able to use in OOO before). So those fonts have no complete unicode in them — so what? Second, the automagically selected point size is about 14 pt big and the style is bold. Dialog and menus easily take half the screen. So are there any plans or intentions to change this ? - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. This happens systematically, for years, at least in my environment. Options either work erratically or produce no visible result. The Use system font option stopped working quite a time ago, somewhere in 2006-2007. I may check it and play with .gtkrc-2.0 or with KDE, the OOO is NOT showing my system font (by the way, is it GTK font? KDE font? something else?), but rather its own Vera, in largish size and bold style. Much of a dialogs just get unusable until I set Size percentage in options. If I remove Vera's physically, the OOO does the same trick with DejaVu Sans. I'm attaching the screenshot in 100%-size next thing. Also, while the trick with substitution of Andale sans UI SORT OF WORKS in Pavel Janik's builds (somehow, not all fonts seem to be accepted), it produces NO RESULT in Sun community builds (like the recent release of 2.4.0). I may substitute whatever I wish, the result is still same large and bold large DejaVu Sans. I didn't even change anything in my configuration, just upgraded from the PJ build of 2.3.1 to Sun's build 2.4.0. In all circumstances, the very easy for the eye BDF font with WGL4 coverage I'm using for the interface in KDE and GTK apps is not even considered an option in all of the OOO font dialogs, even for the UI. So is there a way to switch off that fancy font processing logic or to put a manual switch- off somewhere at least? Also, to have a more decent font size as UI default. Until then, I rather feel like the UI font processing in OOO is an annoying bug, not a feature. Sorry. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=52984 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed Aug 10 00:54:25 -0700 2005 --- Okay, patches for building on freebsd-4 are just this, patches for build to succeed. They are incorporated into Pavel Janik's build system directory structure. Patches (patch really) for the build system itself makes my patches known to the build script, compensates for some env+source defects, sets configure args. There are some obsolete patches in archive, look into the bb0.diff for some comments what's actually used, and what's doing what. Disregard the lines setting supported languages, that's my local setting for the sake of time and diskspace. As you can see, I'm building with configuration differing from popular (many externally installed libraries used). The environment assumed is KDE 3. CAVEAT 1: Bear in mind, you'll need patched /usr/libexec/ld-elf.so (rtld patch by D.Morozovsky (?)) for the build to even complete, and for built product to run. CAVEAT 2: There is some elusive problem with dependencies in the instsetooo_native. I do not know the cause or the possible remedy. It may or may not have connection with building on freebsd-4. In some milestones (m121, too) this happens: - When making langpacks in insstsetooo_native/util, error pops, setup_osl.ins not found - Then I have to manually do (source ...; dmake) in the roughly following order: - in scp2/ooo - in all other scp2/*/* - in scp2/macros - in scp2/util - in setup_native/ulfconv - Then I re-run build script and all seems to go well from that on. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=52984 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Mon Aug 8 01:17:32 -0700 2005 --- On freebsd-4, /usr/sbin/pkg_update first issues pkg_delete installed package, then pkg_add new package. When making pkg_delete, appropriate @commands from the +CONTENTS file of the package get executed. In native freebsd package of the languagepack, there are @commands which @dirrm (remove) directories belonging not only to the languagepack proper, but the directories containing the openoffice installation itself. The same effect (removing complete openoffice installation) would take place when simply removing languagepack package, though I didn't check this. How do such commands make it into package's packaging list (which then becomes part of the +CONTENTS file in the package .tgz file), I can't tell, but they surely are there after completing of the build process. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. With this patch added, I can build and use Belarusian locale and translation on m103 (currently). What's interesting here is where did my previous submission of Belarusian locale go. It was submitted some time ago, processed by Eike Radke, and included in CWS with name like localedata04. I do not have this data at hand now, though. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
