Sorry, corrected to "Spreadsheet" and "Calc". I said "Presentation" and
"Impress", and you said "reproduced". So do all applications have this
problem?

Microsoft Windows XP, Chinese (traditional-char)
OpenOffice 3.0, Chinese (traditional-char)

1. Disable quick start, i.e. no OpenOffice icon in system tray.

2. Configure your computer to have two monitors. This is commonly
easy to do with a notebook computer connected to an external monitor:

Desktop -> Right mouse button -> Properties -> Settings
-> Monitor 2 -> Extend

3. Open a file so that it brings up OpenOffice.

4. Now the splash screen is on the second monitor (wrong), but
the file is on the first monitor (correct).

Thanks.

1. In a cell, using the default font (Arial), enter:
C
I

2. Move the cursor to the left of the "C". Move down, up, down.
Now it has moved to the right of the "I". It should be to the left
of the "I".

Another way to reproduce the problem:

1. In a cell, using the default font (Arial), enter:
C
?
I

2. Change "C" and "I" to boldface.

3. Move the cursor to the left of the "C". Move down, down.
Now it has moved to the right of the "I". It should be to the left
of the "I".

Thanks.

Microsoft Windows XP Home SP2.
OpenOffice Impress 3.0.
Language: Traditional-char Chinese.

I have a file which:

1. Imported into OpenOffice Impress.
2. You find that one page (page 7) only having the title, and its content
is gone (blank).
3. This problem does not happen in OpenOffice Impress 2.4. Page
7 is fine.

If you then use Microsoft Office 2003:

1. Remove the content text frame (which you can see) in page 7.
2. Continue to work with the file in OpenOffice.
3. You find that subsequent pages
(page 8 onwards) has most of the text in white
(some texts and bullets are not broken). Some text are even
in shrinked (shrunken) size.

This is a proprietary file of about 700K in size, and I am
not posting it here. E-mail me at
to get the file.

Thanks.

Microsoft Windows XP Home SP2.
OpenOffice Calc, 3.0.
Language: Traditional-character Chinese.

I have a file with a lot of sheets (about 20), and in one of them
a sheet with about 100 columns and 200 rows.
In columns A to E there is a filter arrow on row 3,
filtering data in rows 4 to 200. Quite a number of cells
has comments in them (upper right corner has red dot).

If I operate on the filter arrow on column C many times, it becomes slow
and:

1. The first time I use this file, it finally hangs when I am
operating the filter arrow.

2. The second time I use this file, it becomes slow but did not
hang. But which I click the upper right "X" to close Calc,
it popped up a "Save?" dialog (Y/N/Cancel), but was unable to respond
for a long time (it even displayed "No Response" in the window
caption). It finally succeeded to close.

Since it is a proprietary file of nearly 1M, I am not
posting it here, but you send me a private e-mail to
, I can send it to you.

Thanks.

Could you check if this is a related problem?

1. Open "text-box-from" and select the text box (not text inside
the text box).

2. Copy and paste it to "text-box-to".

3. The font changes from Verdana to Arial.

Microsoft Windows XP Home SP2, Chinese traditional-character version.
OpenOffice Writer 2.3rc3, Chinese traditional-character version.

THIS IS NORMAL:

1. AutoCorrect is enabled in default state.

2. Type ( means a space character):
a - b

3. It will become ( means a dash character):
a b

4. Press (Alt+Backspace):
a - b

5. Then you can continue with the hyphen there instead of a dash.

BUT THIS SEEMS TO BE A BUG:

1. AutoCorrect is enabled in default state.

2. Type ( means the key):
a - b

3. It will become ( means a dash character):
a b

4. Press (Alt+Backspace):
a b

5. You can press more 's for the dash to go back to a hyphen,
but as long as you press again, it will become a dash again.

Thanks.

OpenOffice 2.3rc3, Chinese traditional-character version.

1. Have a numbered list.

2. Turn on "change recording".

3. Delete one item.

4. The deleted item still occupies a number in the sequence of numbers.
In Microsoft Word, a deleted item does not occupy a number in the
final document.

Thanks.

This is an urgent case. This does not happen in 2.2 and makes
2.3rc3 very inconvenient to use for those who use numeric font sizes.

I hope this could be fixed in the formal version of 2.3 Chinese trad.

Thanks.

It does not need a long file for it to happen.

after it was hidden under another window and re-exposed to view.

1. Open the attachment, whose content was copy-pasted from
a imported Microsoft Word document.

2. Select the first line and copy to clipboard. It looks like:
Console(config)#snmp-server engine-id local 81030300201A2021C0 ?

3. Paste to IBM Lotus Notes while writing e-mail, it becomes:
Console(config)#snmp-server engineid local 8103030020120210 ?

4. Paste to IBM Lotes Notes while writing e-mail, as RTF, it is the same.

5. Paste to OpenOffice Writer as RTF, it becomes:
Console(config)#snmp-server engine-id local 8103030020120210 ?

6. Paste to NotePad, it is correct.

Microsoft Windows XP Home SP2, Chinese (traditional-character) version.
OpenOffice 2.3rc3.

1. Open any file in Write, Calc, or Impress.

2. All numeric font sizes are displayed as Chinese font sizes,
where those numeric font sizes have corresponding Chinese font sizes.
It makes it impossible to know the original numeric font sizes.

3. I would be better to keep the numeric font sizes, unless
they are specifically set to Chinese font sizes.

4. Or, better, use numeric font sizes, but at each numeric
font size, append in parentheses the Chinese font size.

Thanks.

In version 2.3rc3, the latest Chinese (traditional-character) version,
the situation is much better. It tends to keep the bullet style
of the source file, but not completely.
Microsoft PowerPoint is not even doing this (loses colour sometimes).

I am leaving the bug report here for further discussion.

If anyone knows how to "reapply style from master to slide",
could you also tell me? Right-clicking on the template pane
and do "reapply" does not work.

Thanks.

4. Do this similarly for page 2 to "to.ppt" and "from.ppt".

5. The bullet symbols are changed and have been recorded in issue 81356.

6. Now export this file as PPT and load it back. Bullet symbols are changed
still. In some files, the blue pointer becomes a red hollow square.

Thanks.

Note that I am pasting text inside the text box, not pasting
the text box itself.

By "bullet style", I mean:

1. bullet symbol (so far I have not noticed any problem yet);

2. Font size;

3. Indent;

4. Line spacing.

Thanks.

Microsoft Windows XP Home SP2, Chinese (Traditional char).
OpenOffice 2.2.1, Chinese (Traditional char).

1. Open three files, so that they are three different buttons
on the Windows task bar at the bottom edge of the screen,
instead of all collapsed together. Now I have two Writes
and one Calc, but the same problem also happens with three Writes.

2. Click on them at random order.

3. You will find that at times, when you use the mouse to click on a button
(but do not release it yet), it selects a wrong button
to be depress (temporarily) and the corresponding wrong
file displayed (temporarily). When you release the mouse button,
the correct file will be selected.

Thanks.

If you think the normal way to enter literal text is ('),
e.g. entering digits as text instead of as number,
or not wanting to auto-complete,

Microsoft Windows XP Home SP2, Chinese (Traditional char).
OpenOffice Impress 2.2.1, Chinese (Traditional char).

1. Open attachments "paste.ppt", "from1.ppt" and "from2.ppt".

2. In "paste.ppt", page 1, click into the body of text and select
the whole text.

3. In "from1.ppt", select the whole body of text, and copy-paste it
into the text body of "paste.ppt", page 1. Now the new text inherits
neither the bullet style of "paste.ppt" nor that of "from1.ppt".

4. Do a similar paste from "from2.ppt" to "paste.ppt", page 2.
You also cannot inherit the bullet style.

If you know how to (1) inherit the style of the source file and
(2) the style of the destination file, could you e-mail me?
(Microsoft Word also has this problem of pasting, which messes
up text style, since several versions ago.)

Thanks.

CORRECTION: The original file (from which "align.ppt" was made)
was saved form a computer of screen
resolution roughly 1200 by 1000, and the original file still
looks aligned. By the "align.ppt" (modified from the original
using a computer with resolution 1000 by 800) looks
misaligned on the computer of 1200 by 1000.

Now I am creating another attachment from the original.
This is "align1200x1000" saved from the computer of 1200 by 1000.
I don't know how it looks on the computer of 1000 by 800.

Thanks.

Microsoft Office XP Home SP2, Chinese (Traditional).
OpenOffice Impress 2.2.1, Chinese (Traditional).

I don't think this is fixed.

1. Edit slide 5.

2. Copy slide 5 and insert it between slide 5 and slide 6.

3. Now the editing pane is still at slide 5, and the left-side pane selector
is focussed at slide 7 (original slide 6).

4. I would expect both the editing pane and the left-side pane selector
is focussed at slide 6 (new slide).

5. If you paste it after the last slide, it is still outside the visible
area.

Thanks.

1. Open the attachment.

2. Click the bottom half of the last line. You are unable to go into edit

3. Click center of text. Now you can go into edit mode, but the
bottom half of the last line is invisible. In extreme cases,
line(s) near the bottom are invisible.

4. It seems that Impress think a text box is shorter than the
displayed height.

This still happens in Calc 2.2.1,
as a result of horizontal scrolling.
See attachment.

Thanks.

Thanks. But if:

<<
They can only have one font per cell, so a decission has to
be made which is set on export.
>>

I think you should may to either always use the Latin font,
or always use the East Asian font, instead of randomly choose between them,
resulting in different cells using different fonts.

Thanks.

1. Sometimes the reported line spacing increases, but the visible spacing
does not. Sometimes the visible spacing also increases.

2. It increase not with the times you have saved the file,
but with the size of the file, or with how many times you
have used Impress.

3. Sometimes if the reported spacing is 142% and you set it "back" to
"single", the visible spacing *decreases*.

Thanks.

Thanks for looking at the issue.
If you don't have "Ariel SudEuro" (search the Web for it),
any Latin font which supports
characters (byte value >= 128) should do.

Thanks.

Thanks for looking at the issue.

1. If you don't select anything on the page, the "line spacing" will
gradually decreases.

2. If you select the text frame, but not the text inside, the "line spacing"
will gradually increases.

3. If you select text inside, the "line spacing" remains at "single".

4. If you paste a powerpoint slide from another file, then after repeated
openings, pastings, and saving, then as you paste, the "line spacing"
visibly increases.

Thanks.

You may remove the previous attachment.

The attachment is large because of bug:
http://qa.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=67371

This file is also excerpted and modified from the original document
which has this problem.

1. On the first line, "由絕大部分" is crammed together.

2. On the first line, "的4" is overlapping.

3. On the second line, it is hard to tell whether "SWITCH" is crammed
together, but on the last (4th) line, the position of the cursor
after the "H" overlaps with the letter "H".

4. On the second line, the last character "由" overshoots the right margin.

5. On the third line, "若E" is overlapping.

They may be all of the same cause.

Thanks.

In "Writer",
red wavy lines sometimes appear under Chinese text.
Is this a problem with the spellchecker thinking that
Chinese text is misspelled English?

Microsoft Windows XP Home SP2, Chinese (traditional char).
OpenOffice Writer 2.2.1, Chinese (traditional char).

1. Use the above environment to open the attachment
"overlapping.doc". If it does not happen in a Latin-based
Windows, you need to use the Chinese (traditional) Windows.

2. It contains an uncognised font.

3. The last two characters overlap (若E).

4. It should not overlap.

Thanks

Microsoft Windows XP Home SP2, Chinese (traditional char).
OpenOffice Write 2.2.1, Chinese (traditional char).

1. Open the attachment, which was created from "WordPad" in
Windows 95.

2. The "Ariel SudEuro" font
for Esperanto is displayed as Chinese characters.

3. They should support characters (byte value >= 128) and
therefore should be displayed as Latin letters instead
of DBCS Chinese characters.

4. Compare with opening it in Microsoft Word 2003.

5. A newly-created RTF file also does not have this problem.

Thanks.

Microsoft Windows XP Home SP2, Chinese (traditional char).
OpenOffice Impress 2.2.1, Chinese (traditional char).

1. Open the attachment "line_spacing.ppt", which was
created from Microsoft Powerpoint.

2. The line spacing is "1 line".

3. Export as Microsoft Powerpoint format and re-open it.
The line spacing becames 101%.

4. If you open it and paste Powerpoint slides into
it, and export it as Powerpoint format, and repeat it
many times, you will find that as you paste Powerpoint
slides into it, the "pasted slides" will gradually
increase in line spacing.

5. The expected behaviour is that it should keep "1 line"
spacing.

6. This problem has been existing since 2.0.1.

Thanks.

1. Open the attachment "background.ppt" using Microsoft Powerpoint.

2. Now all background lines are solid (not blurred).

4. Now every second line is blurred. It is the same problem
whether using 1024-pixel-wide or 800-pixel-wide screen.

5. Now export the file from Impress as PPT format.

6. Now whether you open the export using Impress or Powerpoint,
every second line is blurred.

7. Expected behaviour: The background bitmap should be kept.

8. Note: I don't know how to set or examine the background bitmap.

75678 says registered twice,
but 76011 says it is registered under an inappropriate name.

So either it should be registered only once under an
appropriate name, or should be registered under
two appropriate names.

Microsoft Windows XP Home SP2, Chinese (traditional char).
OpenOffice Impress 2.2.1, Chinese (traditional char) version.

It still happens and does not need a big file to happen.
But there is no consistent way to reproduce the problem.

Thanks.

Microsoft Windows XP Home SP2, Chinese (traditional char).
OpenOffice Calc 2.2.1, Chinese (traditional char).

1. The "Format -> Sheet -> Rename(&R)" is correct.

2. The "Tools(&T) -> Macro(&M) -> 數位簽名(&B) (digital signature?)"
is still not correct.

3. Could you also check in *all* menu items in *all* applications,
not just Calc?

Thanks.

Microsoft Windows XP Home SP2, Chinese (traditional char).
OpenOffice 2.2.1, Chinese (traditional char).

1. In the above environment, open any help page
and going to the tab of "Table of Contents" still
does not bring you to the location in the tree of
help pages. I wonder if it should be an enhancement request.

2. As for as the translation of "Contents",
if you think we should keep the current terminology,
you may ignore this problem, or discuss with
the Chinese (traditional char) and Chinese (simplified char)
translators.

3. Sorry for entering two problems in one report.
If you need me to resubmit any one, I'll do it.

Thanks.

Microsoft Windows XP Home SP2, Chinese (traditional char).
OpenOffice 2.2.1, Chinese (traditional chars).

1. Install OpenOffice 2.2.1.

2. any .DOC file -> right mouse button -> Open With

3. You see "OpenOffice.org 2.2" and "swriter". "swriter" is
better to be "OpenOffice Writer" or is not needed.

4. Similarly .XLS has "scalc" (Calc) and .PPT has "simpress"
(Impress).

Thanks.

Maybe you can ask the Chinese (traditional char)
translator to see the bug for you.

Thanks.
