In SlideShowImpl::activate() and SlideShowImpl::deactivate() the slot
SID_SHOWPOPUPS is called without additional argument (like it was done in OOo
1.1 and also in PresentationViewShell::FinishInitialization). Adding this
additional argument, however, does not help.

Referring to CD, SID_SHOWPOPUPS is defined as property slot without arguments,
but used as an execute slot with arguments. Thus it will no longer work when
slot handling is globally changed to the new API. As additionally, it is
unclear how the undocumented argument works, and it obviously doen't work in the
way it did in OOo 1.1, I would suggest to replace the execution of the
SID_SHOWPOPUPS by calling SlideShowImpl::hideChildWindows() and
SlideShowImpl::showChildWindows() in activate()/deactivate(), which does exactly
what we want -- almost.

In hide/showChildWindows nothing is done if the presentation is in FullScreen
mode. I am not sure why this was done, IMO we could just remove this option.

-CL: Please decide what to do. As I said, I would change the SID_SHOWPOPUPS to
the internal methods hide/showChildWindows(), while changing the if statement
there.

BTW.: While putting that many time into this feature: is it known that in the
Slideshow Settings the following things also don't work:

1. Range from Slide x - ignored
2. Custom Slide Show - ignored (normal show from slide 1 to slide n is shown)
3. No mouse pointer visible doesn't work during animation and not at all when
looping the show a second show.
4. Mouse pointer as pen - doesn't work. Clicking on the mouse pointer icon in
the navigator may result in hanging.
5. Animations allowed - ignored
6. Presentation always on top - doesn't work on Linux. Probably it does on
Windows, but if it is not available for a platform, it should be disabled.

Sometimes left mouse button and Space do not advance, sometimes the slideshow
hangs, sometimes soffice ends after the slideshow (exiting with code 0).

cd-bm: For the presentation SID_SHOWPOPUPS must be set to true, if you want to
see floating windows. This variable is currently false and therefor no floating
window is visible. If this solution doesn't help, please send it back to me with
information where I have to add SID_SHOWPOPUPS.

Carsten, unfortunately the stack is not really useful, but the hint that SFX
hides the window explicitly could help. There are only a few places in
SfxWorkWindow that hide Floaters, so maybe we can debug where and why it is
done. Debugging might be easier on Solaris. :-)

Sorry, but this issue is a good example who bughandling shouldn't be done.
Comments like doesn't work in some cases aren't very helpful.

As it looks the bug appears on Linux and Solaris (please correct me if I'm
wrong). So IMHO it's a problem that should be investigated in VCL.

IMHO this issue is also a good candidate for retargetting.

I used the term doesn't work in some cases because I had a longer chat with bm
about the different cases where his fix partly worked or not. Under windows it
works, under Solaris the Nav comes up ,leaves and is never seen again until the
end of the presentation. Under SUSE and JDS (KDE and GNOME) it comes up on the
first slide, leaves and is back again on the second. By the way: only points as
comments are no good task handling as well.

-CD: I am out of ideas. The last fix (hack) (see slideshowimpl.cxx,1.9.14.4)
was to post a user event in updateHdl which is the latest point to do this as
far as I could see. When you start a presentation with a custom animation for
one shape on the first slide, the fix works, but not for an empty presentation
or one without object effects. This looks strongly like a timing problem, i.e.
the user event might come too early.
I still have no idea why the navigator disappears when it is shown after the
slideshow window. Obviously, the fact that the slideshow window is painted has
an influence on the navigator's visibility (CL promised me that after the
slideshow window is shown, the running slideshow does not change the window
z-order).
Please have another look at this. Maybe this can be fixed somewhere in sfx2 or
in vcl.

Note: I checked that the presentation in Windows is still ok, but I didn't check
Solaris (only on a remote connection). Please check thoroughly that starting the

Note that on Linux the navigator may still disappear for a short while during

Another note: As I said, I noticed that the hiding of the navigator is not
immediately visible, and that a fullscreen window is painted. This is probably
the logical thing to happen: I set a window to hidden, which has the effect that
all windows lying under it are being painted again, such thaat the hidden window
will be over-painted.

-MBA: I didn't have success in finding out why the navigator disappears on Unix
while it stays visible on Windows. I tried several Window managers on Linux
(twm, sawfish, enlightenment, metacity, kwm) and on Solaris (CDE, metacity) and
all showed the same behaviour. I have the feeling that on Windows it's just per
chance that the navigator stays visible.
When starting the slideshow with the navigator
mpViewShell-GetViewFrame()-SetChildWindow( SID_NAVIGATOR, TRUE ) is called
(which removes the navigator shortly after showing it) at the same viewshell as
when later pressing (shift)F5 (which apparently works) where
GetViewFrame()-ToggleChildWindow( SID_NAVIGATOR ) is called at the same
viewshell with the same viewframe.
What I found out so far is that the method SfxWorkWindow::ShowChilds_Impl() is
called where Hide() is called (workwin.cxx:1081 in rev. 1.48) at an SfxNavigator
window. This seems to be wrong (however this does not have the immediate effect
of the navigator disappearing, maybe this happens asynchronously).
While having a breakpoint in Window::Show(), I also found out that an
SfxDockingWindow with fullscreen size is shown, which might be the true reason
for the navigator to disappear.
Another idea I have is that maybe when the slideshow is started with navigator,
the application window moves to the background, which in case forces the
navigator of the application to be hidden. The application has no navigator,
but if the navigator of both frames (the application and the slideshow) is
treated as the same object it might be possible that the hiding of the
application window forces the hiding of the navigator of the slideshow.
I hope you understand enough of my efforts to describe what I found out (with my
limited background knowledge of this stuff). Maybe you have an idea how to fix
this.
If you want to try this out, you will need the sfx-fix in viewfrm.cxx and the
fix in slideshowimpl.cxx (and for shift F5 to work you will also need a fix in
drviews6.cxx). These fixes will be in the SRC680.m75 (CWS impress30)
Thanks

It looks like impress30 didn't make it into m75. If you want to have a look you
can watch this at my machine (I have vcl, sd, framework and some parts of sfx2
with debug on Linux)

Reopening, because under linux the navigator appears first, then the slideshow
starts and covers the navigator.
