As a consequence, a choice of encoding other then autodetect is overriding this and is highly likely to chose at best the same correct encoding the autodetect will chose. I also have some questions about whether importing the dot-commands as text is useful for other purposes then debugging. Since they are formating codes and a user lambda should not have to deal with them. This is all my opinion, so take it with your best judgment. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Fridrich, perhaps you can also comment on the following findings: I've found two more problems by using a nonpro build giving me assertions. (1) At one place (importing T8 style as I guess) _AddAtt(fo:font-style,bold); has to be replaced by _AddAtt(fo:font-weight,bold); Looks like a simple CP error. I assume that before this fix the bold attribute was lost in that case. (2) In the simple test document I have the import context stacks are not closed correctly, I fixed it by adding _End(text:span); Before the _End(text:p); at the end of the Read602() method. As opening and closing text:span contexts sometimes is spread over more than one method, I'm not sure whether my fix is correct. At least two more complex documents I received from Milan didn't show any new assertions and apparently imported well with my fix. I committed all my changes to cvs so everybody can test them. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Another reason was that you can insert picture into text and if dot-command is displayed you can see where inserted picture was placed. Anyway, it is probably safe to remove it from text completely for normal use. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Generic/UI issues - strings in general, the dialog itself (layout, etc.) - en-US strings too long (at least the first option turning on so called Russian mode here on Aqua) - pushing Cancel in the dialog results in a Generic I/O Error. It should simple forget about the document and do nothing. - some .602 files are being open in Writer without T602 dialog - e.g. zak.602 (attached). Why? Filter itself - table borders not OK in small displays, but when displayed to the page width, it is OK. Interesting. - next page not accurate (cti_lasr sample file from T602) - rectangle around 2. in the middle of the text (cti_hft sample file from T602) - search for Potom se musà But anyway, this filter even in this state is a big win for people/companies who still have their files in it. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. It does not have @CT string at the beginning of the file and thus T602 typedetection cannot take it over. If it did, all content of /var/log would pass through the filter. The filter that opens this one is the encoded text filter and it is IMHO correct like this. The general IO error is a standard error when a filter returns sal_False. It is not the fortunate situation, but there is no other way the filter method can communicate to the system that it did not convert the document once it is called. The Cancel is meaning exactly that - the user prevented the filter from openning the document. Would be issue for framework project maybe to give as a return value an enum with different states, but this would not be before 3.0 because of the way it would break compatibilities. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. You appear to raise what appears (to my untrained mind) a bogus legal issue :-) Otherwise you (well, Novell in this case!) are violating the license term 2a of the GNU LGPL version 2. At least my LGPL (2.1) term 2a reads: a) The modified work must itself be a software library. I don't believe we change that at all ;-) If you are referring to 2b: b) You must cause the files modified to carry prominent notices stating that you changed the files and the date of any change. Then - indeed, we can should commit some updated copyright headers to the files (as is common practice): Fridrich, please rectify that immediately. Indeed, in general I am a huge fan of such notices since they give credit to developers a human flavour to the code, although (unfortunately) Sun appears not to accept/appreciate them in it's JCA'd code. My concern here is that I am unsure that we will contribute Fridrich's work here under the JCA I don't think there is any substantial lack of clarity here. Sun is, privately, aware of our ongoing review of our position here, and since they are the only benificiary of the JCA there seems to be little need to discuss this here. Agreed. Source files have to contain the standard header and source commits are covered by JCA (except for the external project). For further discussion I would like to refer to the ESC discussion Michael initiated. I take issue with this. I would place the contribution point as the CWS is marked for nomination. Furthermore, as explicit clarification was given to Sun that this was in fact not contributed under the JCA - I would not expect to have to debate the point. I assume Sun does not want to take things people do not realize they are giving ? :-) Nevertheless in future we will try to ensure that things are not committed to CWS' that we do not wish to contribute, though this make take some short term adjustment necessary. Having said all this; since Pavel is clearly upset (perhaps at having put the effort in to write a spec. :-), and the majority ~80% of the code was contributed by Milan who is a new contributor (apparently) ok with Sun owning this; I think it is reasonable in this case for us to waive our rights contribute this to Sun under the JCA. So, lets proceed with integration in the normal way here. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. I am not sure that there are no more things like that, because my fixes were working around the stuff instead of rewriting suspicious parts. I would therefore prefer that we do not rush with this into 2.3 before we went through the code thoroughly - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. It took me some time to ask several people (admittedly partly because I'm very busy myself) but here's the result: Stefan Baltzer (SBA) will take over the CWS for testing. We (Sun) will write a little specification for the filter. For both we would like to have some test documents and - if possible - a short(!) description of the feature set of the filter. Is that doable? Did you already decide how the filter should be named? We need at least an english name. And should this name become translated for other languages? - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. I would nonetheless like to point out that all the integration tasks, i.e. TypeDetection, localizable dialogues and general integration into the OOo filter structure was done by me during my company time, so Novell and not me as individual has copyright of everything I contributed there.
