[Alsa-user] ES1969 problems
I have switched over from a Thinkpad 390E to a Thinkpad 390X. The hardware is virtually identical between the two models, but I'm having trouble on the 390X. Sound playback is 1/3 to 1/4 normal speed, and even the slow slow is kinda 'chirpy' and choppy. All other hardware works fine. I'm using Mandrake 9.2, kernel 2.4.22, Alsa 0.9.6 --- This SF.Net email is sponsored by: IBM Linux Tutorials Free Linux tutorial presented by Daniel Robbins, President and CEO of GenToo technologies. I tried running KMix and turning up all the ouputs without success. I then ran aumix and turned up the outputs, also to no success. Re: [Alsa-user] Intel 8x0 and Midi
I tried using both pmidi and aplay midi and I get the exact same results. One thing that is weird is that classical midis seem to play fine, or at least better than rock midis. The rock midis play fine in windows, however, using the microsoft synthesizer. Even on the rock midis it seems liek the problem is primarily with the percussion, whereas the melody seems fine mostly. I downloaded a different set of patches (the eaw) and it hasn't changed. I checked the system monitor and the cpu isn't going above 42 percent, and the ram usage isn't going over 280 mb out of 768. To reiterate the problem, it seems like there is some major tempo problem; it seems like it is constantly speeding up and slowing down as if it were trying to match the desired tempo but it can only do so within about a 30% range on either side. Here is the output after running timidity: Requested buffer size 2048, fragment size 1024 ALSA pcm 'default' set buffer size 64768, period size 16192 bytes TiMidity starting in ALSA server mode Opening sequencer port: 128:0 128:1 128:2 128:3 I'm using timidity++ version 2.13.0-rc2 Thanks for the help. I compiled ALSA 1.0.3 on my Red Hat 7.3 box last week (./configure --with-cards=cmipci --with-sequencer=yes;make;make install). I cannot get Midi to function. [Alsa-user] Custom 48000Hz Problem
I'm having trouble getting my Audigy2 NX card working under Linux. I may have sent this email once already and apologies if I have but I havn't received it back from myself so I'm not too sure. I noticed that in the alsamixer there were two things showing up. PCM and Speaker. So all I did was change the mixer device to Speaker in Xmms. Now though when I try and use the 48000Hz device I defined in .asoundrc thus... pcm.48000Hz { type plug slave { pcm "hw:0,0" rate 48000 } route_policy default } ...XMMS crashes. But sound plays if I use USB Audio (but very poppy). I've also tried creating speaker.48000Hz and I've also tried putting them both in but XMMS always crashes with this message... ALSA lib pcm_hw.c:494:(snd_pcm_hw_start) SNDRV_PCM_IOCTL_START failed: Broken pipe ** WARNING **: alsa_mmap_audio(): snd_pcm_start failed: Broken pipe In fact, any program which tries to use the 48000 device crashes. They are the same? apparently HW out is the name of two channels (columns in the patchbay); and PCM out is a couple of options in those columns. in the mixer, i have 9 "PCM out" meters and nothing for "HW out". what is the relationship between them supposed to be? > Envy24control can be started with limiting the inputs and outputs shown. > Try setting them to max. > > envy24control -i 8 -o 10 -s 2 this produces the default behavior, no different channels at all. the maximum inputs is indeed 8 (again, analog signal comes in on 1/2). > Are you sure you have clean install of alsa? [Alsa-user] unreliable Sound probs
I've installed the new 2.6.4 kernel on my mdk 9.2 distro and alsa 1.0.3 from the tarball of the alsa page. But when I use the sound thought XMMS or mpg123 or else, everyting freezes and I have to push the reset button (sysrq dont work). Everything is functionnal (I can hear music) ONLY when I have my USB camera pluged in an USB port. If I play music and I unplug my cam, the PC freezes. I cannot understand why. Does somebody have any ideas to help me ? thanks --- This SF.Net email is sponsored by: IBM Linux Tutorials Free Linux tutorial presented by Daniel Robbins, President and CEO of GenToo technologies.
