Still very distorted. It's not the clipping sort of distortion. It's the strange, mostly high-end distortion many have described here on this list regarding the via82xx. I've been using alsamixer, as well as other mixers (both alsa and
oss), but I've found no combination of settings that works for
the LINE-INs. The controls I see are:

Simple mixer control 'Mic',0
Simple mixer control 'Auto Gain Control',0

I've tried every reasonable combination, but I still capture
nothing from those inputs. I've tried 'PCM Capture Source' in
each of the three settings ('Mic', 'Input 1' and 'Input 2'). I've
enabled capture for PCM and PCM 1. I've tried every combination
of CAPTUR settings and I've unmuted everything.
If someone would be kind enough to post an 'asound.state' file
that is known to enable LINE-IN input, I could at least rule out
that as being the problem.

It works, thanks!
So in summary, with the Sound Blaster MP3+ USB I am able to:
Playback with phones out
Capture with mic in
Capture with line ins
with reasonable results for an inexpensive USB card. My S/N is
pretty bad right now, but I think need a decent preamp for my
miked stuff. I've not tried playback through line outs yet nor
optical I/O.

[Alsa-user] Lexicon Omega Capture Channels
Hello, This is my second attempt at posting this. The first time it was refused, apparently due to message size. So this time I gzipped the attachment. It's been some time, but I'm returning to using my Lexicon Omega. It was my primary device for laptops for years. However, I now find that I only get 2 capture channels whereas I always used to get 4. I'll start by attaching my "alsa-info" here. If anyone can suggest how to proceed, I'd be very grateful.
