With heavy heart, I sadly convey, that our little angel ‘HAMSAT VO-52’

she

was on her 49,675th orbit, due to the failure of on-board lithium ion
batteries that have met their end of life.

Sad news, it is one of my favourite satellites and she will be missed.

I want to thank all the people that made and supported this Satellite

there effort and hope as others already mentioned that maybe she will

Re: [amsat-bb] satpc32 %$#$ again

2014-06-06 Thread PE0SAT | Amateur Radio

Hi Bob,

I experience similar issues lately

ALT-F4 and windows task manager can help to prevent from rebooting your
PC.

In my case this behaviour occurs when object ID's are changed or
removed

from the kepler input files. Lately we had Kicksat, Phonesat and other
cubesats that burned up in the atmosphere and therefor where removed
from

the DB.

To solve the issue I check and edit the satellite group files and
remove them

by hand.

Some extra information for Erich:

I create my own kepler input files direct from Space Track (with the
help from
HaloKepler) here an example
(http://www.pe0sat.vgnet.nl/kepler/mykepler.txt)
and use multiple groups that use there own kepler input when object
ID's are
no longer available or have changed and satellites are active in the
group

file SatPC32 reacts with the message "Ungultige gleitkommaoperation"

Maybe it is possible to have SatPC32 act different when object ID's are
changed or removed from the kepler input file and active in one of the
group files.

Hi Bob,

Check if there satellites part of your SatPC32 groups that are no
longer available

because they decayed, examples are Kicksat, Phonesat, Litsat etc.

I am running into the same, also keep in mind that Space Track can
alter satellites
ID's the last I run into was ITF-1 and this also gave the error you
experience.

When I use the DDE tracker plug-in from Ian Gilmour (MM6DOS) as
described also here:
http://www.pe0sat.vgnet.nl/tag/sdrsharp/ I do indeed see in SDR Sharp
the DDE Client.

I also can see when I connect it the realtime output of SATPC32
correctly displayed (sat name, freq,
..).

However, when I hit PLAY to start the FCD to become active, the DDE
information freezes (no updates
anymore) and the FCD also does not go to the freq from the DDE.

Who can tell me what I do wrong ?

number of payloads.
One of them is the Triton-1 satellite, a 3-unit cubesat developed by
ISIS - Innovative Solutions In Space from Delft, The Netherlands.
Note that the Triton-2 satellite is not on this launch, its launch
date is to be determined at this stage. Triton-2 will be similar to
Triton-1, the main difference being that it will also carry an S-band
downlink and associated mode US transponder.

Triton-1 is a satellite which will serve as a test bed for an
experimental receiver, designed to receive Automatic Identification
System (AIS) messages from ships. During the first three months after
launch, the plan is to characterize the AIS receiver in orbit. After
approximately three months of experimenting, we intend to activate a
single channel FM to DSB mode UV transponder (similar to AO-16's
transponder). The exact transponder uplink frequency in the 435-438MHz
band will be announced at that time as well.

We have created an amateur radio information page which contains all
information related to its downlink signals at:

http://www.isispace.nl/HAM/

We intend to publish regular status updates on the AMSAT-BB as well
as on the aforementioned page.

Kind regards on behalf of the Triton-1 team,

[amsat-bb] Re: SATPC32 & Icom IC-910H Setting PL Tone Question

2013-09-06 Thread PE0SAT | Amateur Radio

Hi Les,

You have to configure/check the SubTone.sqf file and then when this is
setup
you can use the T0/T1/T2 option within SatPC32. Default behaviour is T0
no tone

T1 is normal TX behaviour and T2 arm the SO-50 timer.

Here some information from the SatPC32 Manual:

Files which can be opened by the SatPC32 '?' menu
The following files can only be edited manually. They can be opened in
the SatPC32 '?' menu with the SatPC32 built-in editor or with Notepad:

Doppler.SQF,
Squint.SQF,
Prior.SQF,
ParPort.SQF,
Program.SQF,
Standpos.SQF,
SatFiles.SQF,
DivOptions.SQF,
SubTone.SQF,
AmsatNames.Txt,
Celestrak.SQF

SubTone.SQF This file contains the names and parameters of satellites
that require a subaudible tone on the uplink signal for access. At
present, the only satellites of this kind are SO-50 and AO-51. The file
itself contains detailed hints how to be used.

Good luck

elevation pass. I realized that the bird had "timed out" and needed to
be activated. Not something I was used to thinking about considering
how busy SO-50 usually is. I searched in vain to try to figure out how
SATPC32 was setting the 67.0 Hz PL tone. I figured I could modify that
setting to make it transmit 74.4 Hz instead. But no joy.

I know this can be set in the rig's menu, but I'd rather have a
separate setting in SATPC32 for those rare passes when SO-50 is
silent. Can someone walk me through how to edit the necessary file(s)
and set this up? Thanks in advance from a night owl!

[amsat-bb] Re: FUNcube-1 is in its POD

2013-09-04 Thread PE0SAT | Amateur Radio

Congratulations to the whole team, this is great news.

The AMSAT FUNcube team are delighted to be able to announce that the
FUNcube-1 CubeSat has now completed all its final testing and been
placed into its launch POD.

This work was completed during a three day programme at the premises
of ISIS BV in Delft in the Netherlands and was finished, on time, late
this afternoon.

FUNcube-1 is actually the middle 1U CubeSat of three sharing a 3U
ISIPOD. It is sharing the ISIPOD with ZACUBE-1 from South Africa and
HINcube from Norway. ZACube-1, in addition to carrying VHF and UHF
communications equipment also has a 20 metre beacon which will operate
on 14.099MHz This ISIPOD, with the spacecraft inside, will be
transported to Russia, early next month, for launch and will eventually
be attached directly to the launch vehicle.

FUNcube-1 carries a U/V linear transponder and the educational
telemetry beacon using 1k2 BPSK for school outreach purposes.

The current launch info has lift off scheduled for November 21st at
07:11:29 UTC

Full intial orbit details and TLE’s, together with decoding sofwtare
will be made available over the next few weeks

[amsat-bb] Re: HRD 6.0 and Satellite Tracker

2013-05-23 Thread PE0SAT | Amateur Radio

Hi Les (and others)

I haven't used 6.0 but almost every version before that.

When you just want to listen to the sats, it is a great peace of
software
but when you also want to transmit via the sats and be able to control
your
uplink via de software, then my experience is, that is a pain to work
with

the VFO sliders.

If they would change the way the frequency can be changed I would use
it more

often.

Now, after trying them all (Nova, Orbitron WXtrack, etc etc),
SatPC32 is my preferred software for working the Sats.

Haven't noticed much traffic or discussion on the air with anyone

[amsat-bb] Experience with M2 436CP42UG

2013-05-19 Thread PE0SAT | Amateur Radio

Hi,

Are there people using the M2 436CP42UG for satellite operation?
If so, could you share some experience whit this Antenna?

I have bought a used one but am unable to get it aligned in the right
way
so that SWR is expectable. From the manual I get the length of the
dipole
at 4.375 inch thats 11.1cm but it isn't working in my setup and
changing it

in steps of 1mm doesn't bring me to the right SWR.

In some places the impedance is so bad that the radio disables power
output.

Hi Dimitry,

I know of this filter, but these are for working FO-29 when the uplink

The Harmonics produced by the 145 uplink signal interfere with the 435
downlink. Now I experience the

same with VO-52 but there the uplink 435 and the donwlink 145 ???

So why is the 435 uplink interfering with the 145 downlink

Could this be a harmonic problem???

I experience the same, last night during the pass from 7:22 p.m. UTC
there was an overload on the uplink and therefor it was impossible to
use the passband efficient. I also experienced linearity problems.

So please reduce power to a minimum - if the transponder is clogged no one
benefits.

[amsat-bb] Status VO-52

2012-03-04 Thread PE0SAT

Hi Nithin,

Is there a way that you, ISRO or Amsat India can keep us (Ham Radio
community) informed about the status of VO-52.

The silence around VO-52 gives me a bad feeling.

Maybe it is possible to gives us an update lets say every week?
More frequent is also welcome ;-)

SO-52 is difficult but AO-27 must be possible. A beam would improve your

I tryed this afternoon to listen to both SO-50 and AO-27 with my funcube

Communication for the satellite is on VHF (137MHz for TM and 149MHz for TC)

Maybe we can listen to the frequency on 137 when the exact frequency

[amsat-bb] DO-64 Successor Delfi-n3xt

2011-12-09 Thread PE0SAT

The DO-64 successor will be launched in 260 days.

have a look at: http://www.delfispace.nl/

"Communication Subsystem (COMMS) – Currently, three radios are envisioned
on Delfi-n3Xt: an improved version of the transceiver flown on Delfi-C3,
the advanced transceiver payload and a S-band transmitter. The subsystem
will continuously transmit housekeeping and payload data, operate the
high-speed data link above Delft and act as a linear transponder service
for radio amateurs. The transponder service is a return favour since the
radio amateur community allows us to use their frequencies."

Hi Ib,

Thanks for the information.

One thing I would like to add to the people that use HRD and a FT-847.

I tryed many times to work SO-50 but I am unable to do this with HRD.

When I want to make a QSO via SO-50 I allways have to use SatPC32.

I haven't figured out why CTCSS and HRD isn't working with SO-50.

Is there an expected state when the voltage is high enough regarding AO-51.

The reason I ask, is to listen and see if there is some life in the

[amsat-bb] Re: [Prospero]

2011-10-25 Thread PE0SAT

Thanks Graham,

I have to my knowledge, been searching the entire Internet looking for
information about Prospero, and have no idea what else I can try. The
audio file of the German radio amateur do not help me much further and
therefore have no idea what to expect when Prospero finally transmits
something.

I tryed all kinds of modulations and scanned the band - and + 500 KHz with
137.560 MHz as center freq.

In AM I receive what seems the 57k6 transmittions from ORBCOMM.

I hope the Team that is trying to re-contact prospero have more luck.

Lets all keep in contact and share our findings.

Hi Roger,

The information about a second freq. came from the following document:

http://www.pe0sat.vgnet.nl/downloads/Prospero-Satellite.pdf written by
H.J.H. Sketch.

Have a look at part 3.1

Here a part of that paragraph

"The v.h.f. system is conventional using twin transmitters, each with an
output of 350mW at approximately 136 MHz, and a twin tone digital command
system operating at about 148 MHz which handles the 35 separate commands"

Second graph I placed last night looks like a twin tone, and is received
around 148.010 MHz.

[amsat-bb] ARISSat-1 over Europe

2011-10-09 Thread PE0SAT

Are there stations in Europe that receive ARISSat-1 telemetry or other
data? I tryed last week and yesterday evening but nothing was received.

Are the batteries completly drained and therefor no activity when the
Sat is in the dark :-)

[amsat-bb] SatPC32 via USB2Serial not working (Error reading comm device.)

2011-09-15 Thread PE0SAT

Hi,

Thanks for reading this message.

Because I do not have enough serial ports in my computer, I bought a USB
to serial converter from StarTech. It is a 4-port version. (ICUSB2324X)

I switched my FT-847 from a buildin serial com1 to com3 (the USB to
Serial one.)

Everything seemed okay, until I wanted to use SatPC32. When I start
SatPC32 the CAT option lighstup in my FT-847 display and then I get the
error message: "Error reading comm device."

I have looked around to see if there is a setup option that can solve this,
but I am unable to find one.

Is there anybody out there who knows of a way to solve this? Other programs
work fine, for example HRD 5.

Here some hardware information:

- Using a HP Compaq 3GHz P4 HT with 2G memory running Windows XP - EN SP3.
- Yaesu FT-847
- SatPC32 V.12.8a (2009)
