Hi Rich,

It is always a pleasure to publicize all the good things our hams and
clubs are accomplishing! Congratulations on attaining such a great
outreach at K4AMG.

Note to other clubs and groups: The AMSAT Journal is looking forward
to hearing of your outreach to the amateur radio community, the
educational community, and the public at large. All it takes to get
started is to send an e-mail of your program/project to
jour...@amsat.org.

We have a great team of editors who will help you get the rest of the
story in print.

It is indeed unfortunate to have the commendable efforts of the

undone by problems at a PAID contractor.

If you have not received your 2013 September/October AMSAT Journal via

This is what I received when I notified Martha that I had received my
Journal with the correct address and someone else's name.

With new mailing regulations, our mailer had to update their
software. .The glitch was due to this change in software. We have
been assured that all current members will receive a Journal -
unfortunately with the wrong name. This will be fixed by the next
issue of the Journal.

You might want to drop a note to Martha and inform her that you did
not receive your Journal.

The problem may be larger than she knows.

[amsat-bb] Re: AMSAT Journal Latest Issue?

2013-06-12 Thread JoAnne Maenpaa
Hi Les,

... AMSAT Journal (March/April 2013). Can anyone tell me if a later
 issue has shipped yet ...

The AMSAT Journal comes out 6 times a year. The schedule is
January/February, March/April, May/June, July/August,
September/October, and November/December.

The May/June issue was at the print shop 10 days ago, likely the post
office by now. So hopefully you will see it arrive soon. You can see a
preview of the May/June issue on-line at: http://ww2.amsat.org/?p=651

The July/August issue is currently being put together so it appears
we'll be on schedule for that too.

Quick note for everyone: The Journal welcomes your input about
everything related to amateur radio in space. Please send your
articles, photos, operating tips, or announcements to the magazine's
in-box at jour...@amsat.org or you can send it directly to me.

We are aware of the lack of timely AMSAT Journals and apologize to the

[amsat-bb] Re: Amsat Journal?

2012-10-18 Thread Glen Zook
From what I have seen, a good part of the problem is not having an ample
backlog of articles suitable for publication.  There are numerous reasons for
this, but the biggest problem is that not enough members are submitting
articles for publication!  I did write an article on this very subject which
was published a few issues back.  Personally, I can contribute articles.
Unfortunately, since I have not been on the cutting edge of technology for
some time, anything that I write would have to be historical and so forth.

I have been around for a LONG time!  Have been a member of AMSAT since the
first month it was formed.  Therefore, I have seen the newsletter go through
several transformations in content and format.  Some of those transformations
were better than others.  However, since AMSAT is a voluntary organization, the
quality of both the content and format of the newsletter is wholly dependent on
the quality of articles submitted for publication and the work of volunteers.
Basically, the higher quality the articles submitted, the higher the quality of
the content.

Hi All,

I must make a correction to the Symposium news article in the latest AMSAT

a prize. This is not the case. The Dongle was generously provided by
Howard Long, G6LVB. As I recall I merely did the asking, and all credit
for the prize should rest with Howard. I just wanted to make sure ample
credit was applied where amply due. My apologies for the confusion.
