2.2 makes it easier to update all. otherwise if you have a lot of apps and
many have regular updates, it is actually quite tedious.

personally every update, pre 2.2. was a time for introspection. do i
love/use this app enough to spend the minute or two it will take of my
effort to click thru the update process. with, 2.2, at least for the apps
that don't change their permissions, it is an easier decision.

It's a free app, so I don't understand why people would bother getting
it from such places. But there are also a lot of freeware sites that
provide downloads (inevitably of old, outdated versions). It's still
just weird that people keep playing a game (and having crashes) and
don't bother to check whether there is a better version available.
It's not that hard, after all, and one would think that people who
enjoy a game enough to keep playing it months later would take the
effort to actually find out about upgrades - especially since I'm
pretty explicit in the documentation that this is still being
developed.

I think (hope) that most people on the market have at least updated
the game once or twice. With more recent versions of the game I am
seeing better response to updates. I suspect, as Praskash mentions,
that this is related to some of the improvements in 2.1 - 2.2.

Regards,

Michael A.

That's common problem. And that's people check for updates
in their code as you can't rely on the OS there. And if you find
out new version nag the user saying you do not support
version they use but there's free update for them. Or that
new version introduces many cool fixes and improvements,
That usually works :)

... we can only hope that after giving us the segmented data for stars
(I'm not saying pretty useless, but almost useless, since the average
value is enough), Google will soon give us the segmented data for the
installed versions... I also have the feeling that many people don't
update frequently and that it's a good idea to add a specific feature
in the app that e.g. reads the info from a RSS feed and pops up an
invitation to upgrade when a new version is published.

2010-09-01 Thread Maps.Huge.Info (Maps API Guru)
As stated in the other thread, the problem may just be that the
algorithm that computes active install percentage may just be more
accurate now. It could also be that your user base started
uninstalling your app when you posted the update. Many people will
uninstall an app they haven't used for a while when an update comes
around because they are reminded they have it.

I too have seen a drop from 64% to 61% in one of my apps and from 58%
to 47% in another. Is this a problem or a correction? I guess we may
never know.

Regardless, since it's happening to everyone, it won't affect your
position in the market or anything else tangible, so you might as well
just live with it.

I doubt this in particular for paid apps. There is a
vast discrepancy between what I see in the Dev Console and Google Checkout.

It could also be that your user base started uninstalling your app when you

My paid app has dropped about 25% TOTAL, meanwhile sales, according to
