Re: [android-developers] Re: GOOGLE, WHAT IS GOING ON with the Active Install %? Bug in install to SDCARD is my guess!
2.2 makes it easier to update all. otherwise if you have a lot of apps and many have regular updates, it is actually quite tedious. personally every update, pre 2.2. was a time for introspection. do i love/use this app enough to spend the minute or two it will take of my effort to click thru the update process. with, 2.2, at least for the apps that don't change their permissions, it is an easier decision. It's a free app, so I don't understand why people would bother getting it from such places. But there are also a lot of freeware sites that provide downloads (inevitably of old, outdated versions). It's still just weird that people keep playing a game (and having crashes) and don't bother to check whether there is a better version available. It's not that hard, after all, and one would think that people who enjoy a game enough to keep playing it months later would take the effort to actually find out about upgrades - especially since I'm pretty explicit in the documentation that this is still being developed. This group is for non-beginner development questions using the Android SDK. It doesn't really make sense for people who work on Market to follow such a group (especially since many of the people don't even know the Android SDK since they work on the servers). [android-developers] Re: GOOGLE, WHAT IS GOING ON with the Active Install %? Bug in install to SDCARD is my guess!
As stated in the other thread, the problem may just be that the algorithm that computes active install percentage may just be more accurate now. It could also be that your user base started uninstalling your app when you posted the update. Many people will uninstall an app they haven't used for a while when an update comes around because they are reminded they have it. I too have seen a drop from 64% to 61% in one of my apps and from 58% to 47% in another. Is this a problem or a correction? I guess we may never know. Regardless, since it's happening to everyone, it won't affect your position in the market or anything else tangible, so you might as well just live with it. -John Coryat -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Android Developers group.
