Re: [android-developers] Help understanding why the App "freezes"

2023-08-10 Thread Josue Gallardo

`invalidate()` o `requestLayout()`).

2023-08-08 Thread Luca Bertoncello
Hi Ahmed!

Sorry, but your answer is not related with the problem...
As I said, the App works, but the display will not refreshed. And this
happens on many different devices. They are not overheated.

Since all other Apps on the devices run without any problem, this must
be a problem on my App.

Do someone have any idea?

Thanks

You can use the proper "launcher": {your Android Studio
folder}}\bin\studio.exe is the 32-bit launcher, and {your Android Studio

RE: [android-developers] Help wanted for Android app development

2016-02-10 Thread MediaQuest | N.M. Molenaar
Thanks for your help Sardar.

The problem with the intent leak of my broadcastreceiver has gone. I have an
Activity that holds a logout button in my app which makes intent to
StartActivity (which is the launcher Activity as well):

Intent i = new Intent(parent.getContext(), StartActivity.class);
i.setFlags(Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_CLEAR_TOP);
i.putExtra("EXIT", true);
//i.addFlags(Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_NEW_TASK);

I think I has something to do with the flags I have put because now I played a
bit with it (commented out FLAG_ACTIVITY_NEW_TASK and now it seems to be ok

Hi Sardar,

The problem is solved now, thanks for your help!

I do not unregister it by the way because it should stay active through all
livecycles of my app.

I still have problems with outOfMemory errors on an old Android phone but I
think it is due to my images

RE: [android-developers] Help wanted for Android app development

2016-02-09 Thread MediaQuest | N.M. Molenaar
Hello,

Thanks for your response.

My app is an app for an insurance company. It consists of several activities.
Data is coming from server in the form of a json request. There are several
listviews holding listviewitems which consist of text and an icon. Most images
are loaded using Picasso library. I did not make scaled versions of images for
each drawable, instead i made big version of image (for example icons images
for listview items are 500 x 500 px).

I have 2 situations in which my app crashes:

1.Activity uk.co.. has leaked IntentReceiver
com.immersion.android.haptics.HapticFeedbackManager$HapticFeedbackBroadcastReceiver@41e4bac0
 that was originally registered here. Are you missing a call to
unregisterReceiver()?

2.Out of Memory issues, i think due to my images but not sure… most
of my big images are loaded through Picasso library

I am developing in Android Studio.

For issue 1 I googled a lot and at the end I found it is a bug in Android 4.2.2
on Samsung devices but I need to solve it however because otherwise people
using Samsung Galaxy Tab2 can not use the app. Meanwhile my app uses
broadcastreceiver to check if internet connection is ok so i thought maybe it
cloud be that but i do not think so.

I tried to track down issue 2 by investigating the heap-stack but could not
figure it out. I analyzed my heap dump with MAT.

If you can help me please discuss further details ok?

Regards,

Marcel

The error says it all and is clear. The class ProcessRegister *MUST*

You would start by reading solid book on Android and / or going through the
official docs at developer.android.com.
Do some sample projects to get your feet wet, learn about ListView (and now
RecyclerView) and Intents and you'll be on your way. Then come back and ask
SPECIFIC questions if and when you get stuck.

Good luck.

Your package name cannot be changed and should not be an issue. I and I'm
sure thousands of other developers have migrated published apps from being
built in Eclipse to Android Studio without this issue, so it's not likely a
problem with using the same package name.

Maybe? Try it?

> Any ideas on what to do?

Double check your set up. Make sure your signing certificate is set up
correctly and try again. If the error persists, try building the release
app manually via the command line, outside of Android Studio and see if
that helps.

> Or anyway for me to change the package name in play store?

Not unless you like the idea of abandoning your existing app and all of its
stats and starting over from scratch.

It is strange that (so far) noone has tried to answer my questions. In
particular because (AFAIK) Google does not seem to have given any info
about how to give or sell your apps to other publishers. And also because
many of you may end up with the same problem.

Here is a link to another developer with a similar experience:

The fact that this "gives you a crash" is not really useful information.
You might want to expand on what this crash is, at the very least.

Re: [android-developers] Help with native exception: ScriptIntrinsicBlur.create() throws RSRuntimeException: Internal error: Object id 0

2014-05-27 Thread Chang Sheng-Dean 章聖典
Hi Harri,

Thanks so much for your input! I will surely try that!

It was extremely hard for me to debug this issue because the the exception
was intermittent even when I called it two times in a row, it only happened
twice and I could never reproduce it again, so for me, it was rather hard
to test.

I am curious and at awe at your over-the-air support, how did you know I
was calling it more than once?

Thanks again!

 ScriptIntrinsicBlur.create() throws  RSRuntimeException: Internal
 error: Object id 0.

 Here is the most stacktrace that I can post:

  android.renderscript.RSRuntimeException: Internal error: Object id 0.

at android.renderscript.BaseObj.getID(BaseObj.java:57)

at android.renderscript.Script.setVar(Script.java:202)

at
 android.renderscript.ScriptIntrinsicBlur.setRadius(ScriptIntrinsicBlur.java:80)

at
 android.renderscript.ScriptIntrinsicBlur.create(ScriptIntrinsicBlur.java:54)

 The bitmap that is being blurred is usually around 300*300 ~ 400*400
 pixels and the blurRadius is set to 20.

 private static Bitmap blurBitmap(Context context, Bitmap bm, float
 blurRadius) {
 if (context == null || bm == null || blurRadius < 0) {
 return null;
 }

 try {
 /* Make image width a multiple of 4. This is to avoid a bug
 in the
  * implementation of ScriptIntrinsicBlur that causes visual
  * artifacts Source:
  * https://plus.google.com/+RomanNurik/posts/TLkVQC3M6jW */
 if (bm.getWidth() % 4 != 0) {
 bm = Bitmap.createBitmap(bm, 0, 0, bm.getWidth() -
 (bm.getWidth() % 4), bm.getHeight());
 }

 final RenderScript rs = RenderScript.create(context);
 final Allocation input = Allocation.createFromBitmap(rs,
 bm, Allocation.MipmapControl.MIPMAP_NONE,

 Allocation.USAGE_SCRIPT);
 final Allocation output = Allocation.createTyped(rs,
 input.getType());
 final ScriptIntrinsicBlur script =
 ScriptIntrinsicBlur.create(rs, Element.U8_4(rs));

 script.setRadius(blurRadius);
 script.setInput(input);
 script.forEach(output);
 output.copyTo(bm);

 } catch (RSRuntimeException e) {
 /* Throws android.renderscript.RSRuntimeException: Internal
 error:
  * Object id 0. */
 }
 return bm;
 }

 The exception is being thrown when create() is being called. I traced
 the ScriptIntrinsicBlur.create() method and it am guessing that my problem
 starts here:

 int id = rs.nScriptIntrinsicCreate(5, e.getID(rs));
 ScriptIntrinsicBlur sib = new ScriptIntrinsicBlur(id, rs);
 sib.setRadius(5.f);

 I am guessing that the native method nScriptIntrinsicCreate() may be
 returning 0, which is passed to the constructor, then when setRadius() is
 called it does a check and throws the exception. My questions are:
 1. What does nScriptIntrinsicCreate() do and what can cause
 nScriptIntrinsicCreate() to return 0?
 2. How do you go about debugging native methods?

Re: [android-developers] Help with native exception: ScriptIntrinsicBlur.create() throws RSRuntimeException: Internal error: Object id 0

2014-05-26 Thread Harri Smatt
Hello,

In that case it *might* help if you create RS context and script intrinsic
blur *only once* and call invoke as many times you need to.

If recreating RS context and/script is the cause, it is something you could
test rather easily since the crash would happen on second call to your blur
method.

I call this method two consecutive times because I needed a blur radius of
40px, but the SDK limitation was only 25px, so I thought I would just blur
it twice with 20px.

Hi,

How frequently do you call this method? I mean, you re-create both
RenderScript and IntrinsicBlur objects on every call. And I am wondering
how the underlying native implementation copes with this if the method is
called twice or more within short a period.

Sorry about that. The problem was that I was unable to call my getcard()

Thank you for reply. I have worked out how to call the data into my

the problem you are having and directly post (don't link) code that

Few people are going to follow links to wade through foreign code to

Re: [android-developers] Help XFermode

2013-05-28 Thread Romain Guy
Erase is working as intended here. You are erasing the window's Canvas,
which is shared by all the Views. If you want to erase to transparent you
should make that View use a drawing cache (setDrawingCacheEnabled()) or a
layer (setLayerType()) but this will come at a cost performance-wise.
Another solution is to simply draw with your background color.

I suggest that you spend a few days/weeks and read all the tutorials

Then start programming and come back to the list and ask more direct

You can still use your keyboard to access functionality. Check the
documentation for a list of the shortcuts.

Maybe if Google's search results in the Play Store actually worked, devs
wouldn't have to resort to tactics like these to get their apps to show up
correctly in searches.

Re: [android-developers] Help with first application

2012-09-05 Thread Justin Anderson
First, break your app's requirements down into a set of small steps. For
example, first you need to figure out how to parse JSON into some sort of
data object. Then you need to figure out how to put that data in a list.
Then you need to figure out how to get your current location, etc...

Work on each step, one at a time. Do some research yourself and start
coding. When you run into specific problems ask a specific question about
the problem you are experiencing and explain what you have already tried.

I would also recommend you read this:
http://android-dev-tips-and-tricks.blogspot.com/2012/08/so-you-need-help.html

No one is going to just sit down and write your app for you...

And you shouldn't, but that's not what you did. In the section I quoted,
you re-used the words "voice", "recorder", and "hidden", just to name a
few, over and over again. That's keyword spam, as far as I'm concerned, and
the more than likely the reason you were warned.

Why even have a "keywords" section, anyway? Use a little creativity and
work your keywords in as part of your app description.

If you have a problem with other apps (your competitors) violating these
policies, go ahead and report them. Anybody can report an app for terms
violations.

2012-08-31 Thread Terry
Thanks to all for contributing on this thread. This discussion has been
very useful to me - and hopefully to many other developers - as it has made
a section of Google's Content Policy a bit clearer to me/us. Even though I
do not interpret (the following sentence of the Content Policy) "Product
descriptions should not be misleading or loaded with keywords in an attempt
to manipulate ranking or relevancy in the Store’s search results." as
"remove all your keywords from the description of your app", I will follow
John's advice, and remove all keywords from all of my apps. Just to be on
the safe side, and not risk having my apps removed. But I still wish that
Google's Content Policy could have been somewhat more explisit, and not so
hard to understand.

Questions regarding the NDK are best asked on the android-ndk Google Group.

This "trick" does not work with Windows 7 64 bit. How about a real fix?
Need to get this installed if possible today. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

Thanks,

If I understand what you are trying to do (which is a big IF) then this is
not possible. When you say "initiate a new message", what does that mean?
Text message? Email Message? Both?

The only thing that you can do is use intent-filters in your application
manifest to tell Android that your app handles the type of data you are
looking for... i.e. sms, email, etc... Then, wherever Android queries for
a list of apps that can handle that particular data, yours will appear in
the list. There is no way to limit it to just your own app though.

Few people are going to download a zip file from a random post on the
internet.
Fewer people are going to open this zip file and debug your project for you.

Please post a clear explanation of what you problem is along with relevant
sample code and LogCat output (keep it short and to the point).
